Hi,
My DF and I are getting married in September next year (2009) and i'm in the process of starting to make arrangements.
I have found some really nice wedding vows, verses etc and would really love to write the whole ceremony myself (with imput from DF or course). Neither of us are religious people and so don't want a religious ceremony. Has anyone done anything simliar and if so how did it go??
we found a celebrant who gave us some of her basic ceremonies, we took it home, and wrote it all ourselves. it wasn't hard at all - we found vows and verses that suited us, and incorporated it together. it all went off without a hitch! very simple (went for maybe 15-20 mins) and we loved it.
We wrote our whole ceremony ourselves and it was PERFECT. We used bits and pieces from other ceremonies that we found on the internet and used them as more of a structure. I can send ours to you if you like?
We had three readings included in our ceremony. The whole thing went for about 25 minutes.
We aren't religious either.
It really made our day so much more special, intimate and sentimental knowing that we were marrying on our own terms in our own words if that makes sense.
Hi JJJ, We had a civil celebrant do our wedding,we chose our own vowels from pages that she had, just mixed them up until we found something we both liked, the ceromony only went for 20 mins,it was simply and sweet and where not religious either, our friends and family enjoyed it as it didn`t take too long. Then it was time to party, lol
We chose a traditional scottish ceremony. The main thing really is the celebrant, you have to like them! They'll be able to tell you what's required legally etc.
