What mothers day/fathers day pressie have you received that your son/daughter made?

Hi all,

I am a teacher and looking for some inspiration!

I'm trying to think of a fairly inexpensive thing I can get my class to make to take home to their Mum/female figure in their life for Mothers Day. I'm hopeless at coming up with ideas and haven't yet found anything on the internet that inspires me, so I was wondering, what have your received that your child has made that you really liked?

Calendar featuring artwork and/or photos
A round Plaster cast of DD's footprint, painted gold with a ribbon threaded through a hole in the top for hanging. I love this one.
Tea towel with artwork printed on it
Plates with artwork printed on it (plates are sort of melamine)
Silver/gold sprayed macaroni picture frame.

Mind you, my DD could give me a stick with tin foils wrapped around it for a present at anytime and I would love it!

Eta - when I was a kid we did tin cans lined on the outside with colored icy pole sticks

Just though of another one... One year I got a laminated bookmark with a drawing of me on one side and a list of all the wonderful things about me on the other side

DD and i made DH a placemat (although it is not used as one). DDs handprints with a funky poem on some paper and then laminated it. I reckon it looked ace

if you have a little time you could grow plants from seeds or seedlings for gifts.

What grade do you teach?

I made scented bath oil with my schoolies one year, bath salts another year - where you colour them and make a striped effect in a glass jar.
Other suggestions:
Fridge magnets - teapot, handbag, etc with a nice verse on it
Plaster of paris handprints
Necklaces/bracelets
Little decorated plant pots - you could put in soil and flower seed to grow too
Scented drawer thing - a fabric bag holding lavender or similiar- which would be some sewing

ausgirl - I teach a year 3-7 special education class. Art/craft-wise I guess I'm looking for activities you could do with a junior primary class.

Nice poem with handprints on it and then laminated with a magnet on the back.
Painted foam cup with a hand made flower (icy pole stick with a flower cut out and painted and a pic of DS1 on it) I loved this pity DS1 destroyed it a few months ago I was so angry and upset.

You could do a canvas with hand a foot prints

The best card I have even gotten was each end of the card was DD handprint cut out and she painted them and then they were joined together with a strip of paper accordian folded with "I love you this much" printed on it. It was just gorgeous!!

I like ones done with photos. DD1 made a nice one, it was a cardboard photo frame with a heat cut out for the photo, she then decorated it. It had magnets on the back so it could go on the fridge.

Oh YES I forgot that one, one of my staff did that one year. It had handprints, ribbon and a love heart in the middle with I love you this much on it. Very sweet!

I use a laminated bookmark she gave me which also had some coloured string on it with some beads that she threaded on!! It's gorgeous and I use it all the time!! It has a cute poem on it, a drawing on the other side!

We got (for homework) a write a recipe. Then we got a cookbook for mothers day with all the recipes in it. Then a wooden spoon dd had written her name and mine and a love heart between with jewels hanging off it! Too cute.
