Nah Em, I'm not an RN. I'm looking at doing a direct entry mid degree, however doing a BN first then a post grad in mid is still a path I'm considering. Actually, am I imagining this, but I'm sure I read somewhere that once you've completed your first year of BN you can often pick up weekend work in hospy's etc as an EN while you finish your degree? Does that sound right, or am I off the planet? lol

Yeah Ahurani, they're expensive. The Mater in Brisbane runs a Cert III in pathology and it's $3300 for a 5 week course mg:

Really? seems we're getting ripped off here in the eastern states then. . .Perhaps I should bunk over at my IL's in Perth for a few weeks and do it there, Lol

Oh gosh I don't know what they allow these days, I haven't worked in nearly 12mths and have no idea if they let you work as an EN. But if i were you i'd go straight into direct entry mid cos where I am it's so hard to get placement for just the 12mth mid course! I have applied twice in the past and always missed out! (only cos they give preference to people who are already working at said hosp!)

I'm pretty sure that after 2nd year nursing you can do phlebotomy without having to fork out for the course... but double check. I've never seen advertising for job vacancies in that area... but then I've never looked either
