    Re: I have a dream!

As a child I wanted to be an actress, then as a teenager I was torn between being a theatre director or a politician. At high school the career guidance report said I should be a psychiatric nurse and I laughed and laughed because of how ridiculous a notion that was! I couldn't decide what to do at uni so got a few jobs and decided that because I like being in charge I should aim for project management which I figured I would focus on after kids. Then I had my kids and everything changed.

Now I am almost qualified as a nurse and midwife and hoping to specialise in mental health issues

As a child I wanted to be an artist or a 'horse rider' (not sure what is!).

From year 8, I wanted to be a writer. In year 9 I realised it's hard to make money writing novels so I decided to be a journalist. I flirted with the idea of being a lawyer in year 11 and 12 but I got into my dream course studying journalism so that's what I did.

Worked as a journo for quite a few years. But now I use my talents for good in the NFP sector doing marcomms.

Coincidentally, my DD's three greatest loves are writing, horseriding and art

I wanted to be Wonder-woman for most of my primary school years. High school dream was lawyer then psychologist. I did work experience in two court houses and didn't like it. Studied psychology at uni but decided against that as a career as well as it didn't feel right.

Got a job in admin to give me time to decide what I wanted to do. Found out that I love it and still doing it 14 years later.

Still peeved I missed out on Wonder Woman though.

    Re: I have a dream!

I wanted to work with children, always. I geared everything in school to get into the diploma course for children's services at tafe . Got into it but gave up after a year as it was just not what I expected. So many rules and regulations when all I wanted to do was have fun and play with kiddies.

Worked a part time fast food job while I did some admin studies and was a top of the wozza PA/admin for a good few years until I had DS. I love organising and bossing people around!

Now, since having DS and being that mum and person who loves kiddies I found I still have that knack with other kids and also a photographic eye. I can make strangers kids do anything like putty in my hands ..... So once I have more time I think I'll be like many other sahm's and be a children's photographer.

When I was very little I wanted to be a bricklayer! Then I wanted to be an architect, then an interior designer, a jeweler, a travel agent and a lawyer. All the way through though I wanted to be a mum.

I ended up with a degree in project management and economics with some experience in contract law and counseling.

Now I am a SAHM. I love it. I think now this is my dream job.

I would probably like to look into creating my own natural cosmetics. It really interests me.

    Re: I have a dream!

For most of my childhood I wanted to be an archeologist. Specifically, I wanted to work in the Egyptian pyramids.

For most of highschool I wanted to be a pediatric OT. I did that for work experience and loved it but I wasn't a very motivated student and it took high marks to get in so I kind of gave up on it and ended up deciding I wanted to be an accountant and started a commerce degree. I switched to a Marketing major and worked in marketing for about a year before giving it up.

The desire to work with children wouldn't leave me alone and I ended up going back and doing a second degree in Early Childhood Education (first degree didn't offer any credit so I had to start from the start again). I worked in child care and preschool while studying and with my diploma qualification but now I've been on maternity leave and finishing my degree part time for the past 6 years.

I don't want to be a teacher anymore but I do still want to work with under 5 year old children, and their families so when I'm ready to get back into work I'll give it some more thought. Fortunately my degree does reach a broad range of jobs so I'm not limited to teaching and can still use it in other ways.
