Looking for Work from Home job

howdy - i have a 7mth DSand have really enjoyed my time at home with him but financial issues have arisen and i need to work again however several problems have arisen and going out to get a job in my situation is near impossible if my son ever wants to see either of his parentsso i've been looking at Work from Home ventures but having next to no luck deciphering the scams for the legit work - if anyone has any ideas can you please let me know or point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated

What skills do you have? Maybe think about making you own work at home venture as opposed to looking for a ready made one. Do you have office skills, account skills etc. Can you make things or are you good at ironing? Look at where your skills are and that should help point you in the right direction for work.

i agree with Astrid, i dont think there are any perfect work at home options for us SAHM's, otherwise we'd all be at home im sure!! unless of course, you are doing work at home from your previous employer or something like that.

the only legit things i have seen are ironing/house cleaning. there just doesnt seem to be any EASY way to make money at home, unfortunately.

i know some people rely on ebay for selling things, i guess that could work if you can afford the initial outlay of buying stock etc, perhaps you can make something to sell, make things to sell at weekend markets?

The problem is that when employers say they are flexible, they mean that they require employees to be flexible. There are a lot of jobs out there that could be done from home, but employers just don't trust people to work from home. Until there is more flexibility going both ways, I think it's going to be very difficult for mums to work from home.

Agree with the need for more flexability in the workplace. Even as a contractor I was tied to when the client wanted me, not to when I could do the work. Hoping when I get going again after this bub that I will be able to find more flexible clients.

There is a site called Career Mums. There are often a few LEGIT work from home roles on there. Google it perhaps?

Have you thought about family day care. Contact your local council for your local scheme, there is some work involved setting up, but can be quite rewarding, you don't have to work full time and can be at home with your kids. I started when my eldest was three, (he's almost 16 now), took a couple of years off with my youngest and have been doing this for years. Gives me the opportunity to be at home for my kids (before and after school, school holidays, etc) and still be able to make a decent income.

i would so love to do the Family Day Care but we are renting (one of the reasons i'm looking for work so we can buy) but it's definately something i'm looking into once we do have our own place

The thing is with working from home, is the working bit!

Really, you still need for the kids to be asleep or very very quiet whilst you work, no matter what you are doing. I had DS in daycare 2x per week when I worked from home. It's not always the answer .

Have you thought about doing night fill in a supermarket/shop?? I have quite a few friends that do this as they don't need daycare. The shifts go from about 8pm till 11pm (some would be different), so it's not a late night, they leave shortly after hubby gets home. Works really well.

im actually looking for some casual work myself, maybe a sunday and a couple of hours one night a week, just for some extra $$. im not prepared to put krystal into childcare so i can work, id rather work around dp's hours at the moment.

How about Avon or something like that? I've just started Avon and I had about a week left of the last campaign and I made $50 and I really did not much at all you could make a lot more if youput a bitmore work in or you could check with the local papers about paper runs or letter box distribution companies they are always advertising in the paper. I suppose it depends on home much money you actually want to make
