travelling time to work

It took me 10-15 minutes by car in good traffic when I was working (and unfortunately will be going back soon )

It takes DP 3 minutes by car in good traffic (he starts at 3-4am so always good traffic on the way!) Would probably take 25 minutues to half an hour to walk but at that time of night/morning I wouldn't want him to walk

And how long is it going to take you?? LOL

It takes me 2hours to travel to work via public transport
2hours to travel back so 4hours of my life per day on public transport.

Been doing it for nearly 9 yrs already *SIGH*

Whether I drive or use public transport it's going to be the same, probably less stress taking PT

I will be gone from home from 7am till 7pm

hollym my previous job I just toodled on off 1/2 an hour away

The actual job is going to be good I think just the travel

Wow that's a lot of travel! In high school at one stage I was traveling 1.5 hours one way by PT (bus, train and another bus). But you gotta do what you gotta do! If the job is good then the travel time won't be so bad - just take a good book!

It takes DH about 45 minutes by car from walking out the front door to walking in his office. By public transport (bus) it takes about an hour. He works in the CBD. He prefers to take the bus even though it takes longer because he gets to get a short walk in everyday (to and from bus stops) and he gets to read his book on the bus.

I used to drive a round trip of 140kms to get to work before we moved. It was 80% dirt road also...grrrr my car did not like it. But I was living in the country & there is not much choice when you choose to live remote & work in the nearest town. Plus side was never any traffic, no lights etc...I did enjoy the drive each day.

heheh unfortunately theres not much work around my area in IT most work is in the CBD.

But I do a lot on the train...sleep ... sleep ... read a book ... sleep. I guess you get use to it.

Oh and if you think you can never sleep on the train think again. My hubby said the same thing and now he sleeps like a baby on the train!

Sometimes i bring my laptop to work on my online business and nowadays hubby uses his ipod to watch movies.

I feel quite guilty admitting that my work is about 600m up the road!! and DH works diagonally opposite our house LOL
DS' s FDC is 7 houses up from us (other direction from my work though LOL)

It sounds like a lot, but if you can read or do something useful on the train (or bus) it probably isn't so bad. If you don't have a laptop with wireless internet or an iphone maybe now's the time to get one so you can do emails and surf BB on your way to work!!

I work with a few people who catch the train to Brissy from the Sunshine Coast every day and they don't seem to mind it too much.
