It sounds like a lot, but if you can read or do something useful on the train (or bus) it probably isn't so bad. If you don't have a laptop with wireless internet or an iphone maybe now's the time to get one so you can do emails and surf BB on your way to work!!
I work with a few people who catch the train to Brissy from the Sunshine Coast every day and they don't seem to mind it too much.
I drive just over an hour each way. DH has the worst drive though, it can be 1.5 to 3 hours hours each way depending on the traffic. I agree that if you're on public transport you can make use of the time. But we both drive - don't even ask about the km's our cars do!
We're on the Sunny Coast and DH works in Logan. We've been doing it for around 7 years. It's a lifestyle thing, plus both our families live here.
20 minutes each way for DH and I.
It is mostly freeway, and we are in the country, so nice flowing traffic!
Next year things will be a bit trickier, because I will be travelling 12km in the opposite direction to drop DD of at school (she will be in prep next year and we have picked a private school), then travelling the 12km back (only 10 minutes really), then travelling my normal 36km to work (20mins). I will have to go backwards before going fowards!! I am hoping to be able to arrange car pooling for the two days I work, but if not, it is only two days a week, and I pick my start time at work, cos I work for myself, so I can't complain at all.......
Yep I'm in the country and have to go in to the city for work.
There's just nothing around here atm but my husband goes in on the train everyday anyway..
Maybe I can go on bellybelly on the train mantaray
40 minutes by bike, 60 by train. I don't have a car, so that's not an option, but would be about 30 minutes.
I love riding because I get my day's exercise in at the same time as travelling. If I were driving, it'd be an hour out of my day and then I'd have to find exercise time on top of that. I go through three times as much deodorant as the average person, but I feel SO GOOD! And I don't pay PT fees, car maintenance or gym membership
But next year I will be looking for something closer.
