Who would you say is responsible?

Is it the employee or the managers responsibility to make a time for monthly supervision? - Manager

Is it the role of the manager to remind employees to submit monthly reports, or should staff be responsible to ensure they are done? - Depends on if its part of the employees job to do so.

Should the manager send out a reminder for when time sheets are due? - As above, it depends on if its the employees job description.

Is it the responsibility of the manager to approach staff to make a time for a performance appraisal, or should staff be responsible to approach the manager to make a time? - Managers responsibility to organise and conduct performance appraisals.

*Studying HR so learnt all about this and how it SHOULD happen

As an Executive Assistant to a Commonwealth Department head (and without reading the other replies)

Is it the employee or the managers responsibility to make a time for monthly supervision? We do half yearly reviews. I organise meetings for those concerned at the specified times (ie, March & October).

Is it the role of the manager to remind employees to submit monthly reports, or should staff be responsible to ensure they are done? Program managers are expected to submit their own monthly reports. If I notice that one has not been received, as I maintain the database, I will contact them on my manager's behalf.

Should the manager send out a reminder for when time sheets are due? Time sheets are to be submitted to your superviser at the end of each period. Overall it is the manager's responsibility, however employess are expected to submit them.

Is it the responsibility of the manager to approach staff to make a time for a performance appraisal, or should staff be responsible to approach the manager to make a time? See above, ours done twice-yearly.

    Any thoughts would be welcome

As a hr manager I would say

Managers are responsible for scheduling supervision, employees are responsible for ensuring that they attend scheduled meetings

Monthly reports should be part of people's job responsibilities and whoever is responsible for producing them is responsible for ensuring they are done and circulated

Employees are responsible for keeping time sheets, managers need to get them igned off in time for payroll. If an employee can't remember to get a time sheet in then they don't get paid.

Managers should schedule appraisals, employees need to ensure they do their prep work and make time to attend.

Thank you everyone. I will be going into a meeting today. Your responses echoes exactly what I was thinking. I got publicly blasted at work yesterday for something to do with the above, that I didn't deserve.

That's not fair. I hope this helps you to sort out whatever the issue is
