Found a great piece of software - for the mac - called scrivener

trial is for 30 days (that is 30 days of use, not 30 days from the time you open it)

It allows you all these sub sections within a project - things like character sheets, places, any research you've done & will then format it into the correct format at the end (manuscript, novel, e-book).

I'm taking today to put my character info in there, describing the location of the story etc.

I decided to write about something I know, places I know, work environments I either know about or friends have worked in.

Will be taking the laptop to work with me, with the glorious few hours of sunlight after work I can lay in the park and write before I have to head home and do the domestic stuff.

    ha - sadly, no.

I'm finding recurring thoughts about my birth injury and the subsequent crap and trauma distracting.

If there's an app I can download for that, please let me know

Maybe you need to just journal that stuff, just word dump, it doesn't have to make it into the "story" at all (and the words can count!)

Starting to claw my way back... over 16k words now! Hoping to reach close to 20k by the end of the day as DD is off with her Dad now for a few hours. Must. Stay. Motivated.

I think Sopdet's idea is pretty decent. It isn't the same but when I'm getting stuck I just start writing out my stream of conciousness about random topics and some of that stuff has been the best I have written. Every character needs little stories and opinions to help round them out, filler that helps develop who they are, making them relatable and giving them real thoughts type thing good to see you aren't giving up!

Read this the other day which I quite like; "Whether you think you can or cannot, you are right".

No app, but there's an excellent book called 'Writing through the Darkness' by EM Schaefer that you might find helpful in the place you're in. The book is about using various writing techniques in the context of depression but is also very useful re writing as a healing practice in a broader sense too.

Well done ladies, and KEEP GOING!

I'm the only one in the office today, so have pulled up my story and going to write as much as I can today (of course work takes precedence so will do what I need to do there and write around my workload)

I've also started jotting down ideas for two totally unrelated books that have been floating around in my head for a while.

Eeeeeeeeeeh 29746 words! Getting closer to caught up now and only have to write 2000 a day from now on. Considering I've had a few 3-5k days in a row, feeling pretty good

Hope you got a bunch done today Sopdet!

argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just after I wrote the post about getting stuff done, got hit with a pile of work, have written about 1,000 words today on the story and about 6,000 words for work (would be so nice if I could include every single brief & letter I have to write into my word count!!!!)

Doh! How are you going now?

I'm just about to hit 40k so right back on schedule but considering no weekend during the month have I done more than 500 words, I'm going to try and keep pushing out a little bit of a buffer. Story isn't anywhere close to complete though which is a bit disheartening, I figure it will be around 70-80k when done. I read back some things I had written though and impressed myself haha funny how you forget what comes out sometimes...
