Shivers...I've missed heaps of posts in here!! Eeeks!

Marcia - would the rash you're talking about on Hudson's neck be from moisture perhaps?? If he throws up a lot and gets on his clothes or on his neck it might be causing it? Not sure....

Susan - YAY for Brandon holding his bottle!! What a legend! Sorry to hear about his lip though....ouchies. Poor little man.

A few of you guys were talking about bad days....yes, well I had one too LOL. Can't even remember what day it was over the w/e to tell you the truth! It just feels like one big blur!! I was in tears and just feeling like I wasn't coping and Jacob was a bit grumbly and I couldn't work out what he was trying to tell me so that made me feel like I was a totally pathetic Mummy etc etc....it just snowballed!

I've booked Jacob in for his first lot of needles too - this Thursday at 10.00 am. I'm NOT looking forward to it at all. I made it at a time when I knew DH could go as I don't think the first time he has them, that I will cope very well....perhaps at subsequent immunisations I'll be ok LOL. The CHN said that some babies sleep more after their immunisations, whereas some are really unsettled and just to put a cool compress on their legs where the needles go in (god, makes me shiver just thinking about someone doing that to him!) and to give them some panadol. How have you guys gone with your little ones immunisations??? Have you needed to use panadol at all?

Hudson wasn't too bad with his immunisations Tootie, but he did have sore legs for the first 12 hrs or so, and I kept forgetting and touching them when I picked him up which made him cry ](*,) . Also he had a temp of 38.1 the following day, so we then gave him panadol which brought it down within 30 mins. Good luck with Jacobs appt. on thursday. Hope he does well, and that it doesn't upset you too much. IKWYM about not coping well with it, i felt exactly the same, but it didn't end up being too bad at all. :hugs: for your bad day. They are so overwhelming when they happen aren't they.

Thanks for that Marcia. I'll have to make a mental note not to touch the sore bits on his legs. I really hate the thought of someone giving him a needle....I can't believe that it's 2 separate needles these days plus the drops in the mouth! What an ordeal!!

You're right, when you have a bad day it's VERY BAD. LOL. It feels so overwhelming and like you just can't get anything right.

Hi Everyone,

Well seems like I'm not the only one to have had a bad day! Mind you I should put mine down to being a bad week. Cohen has not settled well for around a week now and it is really taking its toll on me. Oh well. I will keep persisting. We go away on holidays on Saturday for a week so will have DH to help out during the day so I may be able to catch up on some lost sleep.

Cohen's baptism went well yesterday. Everyone had a lovely time I think and he got some beautiful presents. Pleased it is over though as I'm exhausted! He only cried for a minute then fell straight to sleep and slept through the rest!

The other thing he did today was roll from back to front! I put him on his play gym and he managed to roll onto his tummy. He then promptly threw up and face planted into the vomit. Nice. Cleaned him up and put him into bed. Here's hoping he sleeps for a couple of hours.

No personals as I have to try and clean the house (yeah right!).

ROFL at Cohen going face first into his vomit Yvette #-o . That will be a milestone to remember lol. Glad to hear his baptism went well. In fact =D> to all you girls doing lots of entertaining! I still have trouble managing friends over for coffee!

Hi there!! Its great to read how others are going the same as I am... not to wish a bad day on anyone, or sleep deprivation, but somehow it makes me feel not so alone....

Well... we've had a big day already, we went to work!! The vet clinic is very understaffed atm, so Matilda & I went in to do the pays & banking for them to free up the head nurse who took my place. It went really well with Matilda sleeping and just generally being a normal child while we were there!! YAY!!! So I get paid for 3 hours work when I only worked 1 1/2 hours! And they need me twice a week, and I can bring Matilda in and take as much time as I like, half way through today I had to feed her, and I also had to change her nappy another time & hold her to sleep (ahhhh..... loved that!) She cracked up laughing at the guinea pig squealing when I helped the vet hold one... she thought it was hilarious, maybe it was me... there I was holding the guinea pig with both hands and rocking her in the pram with my foot :D ....

Anyway I am buggered as I had to walk both ways (25mins) and its pretty stinkin hot now... Matilda fell asleep in the pram so that is where she will stay until her next bottle & then hopefully will have a long nap this arvo so I can get some sleep... fingers crossed!!

I think the rash under Aidyns neck is just a sweat rash, so I should probably just use powder on it, however Aidyn is getting a little bit of eczema on the sides of his face and upper chest, so I will just use one of my creams for now, and wait and see how it goes before I get something from a Dr.

Tootie - I have had DP come with me to both of Aidyns immunisations so far. As it turns out the 2nd one was actually worse, as he is so much older now and more aware... we had a terrible time when we got home - he would scream if we tried to lie him down as he would associate it with getting the needle.
However this did not happen at the 1 month immunisations... he handled those ones really well - only cried for a few seconds. Though he did throw up the Polio drops, and had to have another dose.
After both of his injections, he had a fever of about 38.4 the next day, and I needed to give him panadol about 2 or 3 times during the day.
I hope Jacob goes ok on Thursday and doesn't get too upset.

Yvette - Glad to hear that Cohen's baptism went well!!! I'll bet you're looking forward to going away on holidays! Where will you be headed? (if you don't mind me asking)
LOL at Cohen dropping his face into his vomit!!! (Aidyn has done that many times as well!) and well done to him for rolling over! Yay!! =D>

Hey Christy that is great that you can bring Matilda into work with you!! So will you be doing an extra 6 hours a week on top of the Saturdays as well?
How cute of her to laugh at the guinea pig!!! LOL
Bummer about the walking, especially if you have to do it in the heat of summer, but it sure is great excercise!!!:D

Thanks for letting me know how you got on with Aidyn's immunisations Ambah. I really am dreading it.

Yvette - I had to laugh at Cohen's face plant in the vomit!! Jacob does that too....I put him down for some 'tummy time' and the next thing you know he sticks his head up looking like casper the ghost covered in vomit LOL. Woo hoo for Cohen rolling over though!! What a little champion!! I can't wait until Jacob starts doing those things!!

Christy - wow, that's pretty good that you can take Matilda to work with you! How cute that she was laughing at the guinea pig!!!

Looks like Liam has discovered the art of rolling onto his belly...While trying to unpack had him lying on lambs wool infront of TV...he was happy playing and quit next thing I hear screams and went over to find him on his belly...so put him back on his back 5 mins later screams again and on his belly...I didnt think he would be rolling over so soon is not even 5 weeks.

LOL @ vomit faced Cohen, I guess Brandon is fussier, because he'll dribble a bit of spew down his chin, or throw up over himself when lying in my arms (don't you love the power chuck straight after a bottle?) but he's never done that. He usually rolls away from it lol.

Tootie, Brandon was an angel with both sets of immunisations. Just fell asleep in DP's arms after both times. Within 10 mins. So maybe you'll be lucky.

Christy, that's great about the work. I wouldn't mind getting a job a few hours a week, especially if I could take Brandon with me (and I'd love to show him real animals too, great learning experience) but I don't think that anyone would hire me from scartch under those conditions. The extra money would be nice though.

Hmm, that's it for now, feeling a bit under the weather today, I put it down to not eating much yesterday (or today) as we have very little food in the house due to spending all our money on a car. Thank god tomorrow is pay day. DP is actually going to stay up untill 1am when his pay comes in so we can fill up the car (and buy more smokes) before direct debitors start taking money out. So it's a late one for me tonight.

Not having too bad a day today. I am trying to get Ryley used to falling asleep in his cot as apposed to everywhere else. For some reason he just wont settle in there or stay asleep for that matter!!
I hate listening to him cry but i want him to fall asleep in there... :(

Thats awesome your work lets you take Matilda in Christy. I imagined the giggle at the guniea pig- gorgeous!! She seems to have a real little personality huh!

I am not looking forward to the needles. Ambah you mentioned one month needles? I never have heard of them... do they still have them?

I havent give Ryley too much tummy time yet coz he cries! (softie Mum) but LOL @ Cohen. Like someone said- that'll definately be a story you'll remember to tell him!!

Susan- I hope a full belly will make you feel better. I know what a pain cars are money wise. Sometimes i think they just arent worth it. How is the house hunting going?

Pee I had the same problem with Matilda, I didn't get her to sleep in her cot until she was around 8 weeks old, and only on her belly would she fall asleep!! or when the head of the cot was raised it made it more comfortable for the reflux. She loved sleeping in our bed then, now she won't sleep in our bed, its for feeding & rolling around in between mummy & daddy! We stimulate her way too much...lo...

Aidyn did not roll over until he was 4 months!!

Pee - I can't get Aidyn to settle in his cot even now. He always sleeps on our bed during the day for his naps, and we settle him there for his nighttime sleep too, and we wait until he is fast asleep before we transfer him over.
On one hand I think I should be making more of an effort to get him to learn to settle in the cot, but on the other hand I have found something that works really well for all of us, so why try to change it?

Hope you can get something big and yummy to eat soon Susan!!! I know all too well how it feel to have no food in the house...

It's ok Pee, the main reason we spent so much on the car was that we only just bought it this fortnight, and it needed an anchor point and seatbeat put in for the car seat.

Wont have time for personals at this stage. After being away for a week and also not feeling so well earlier in the week, I have missed quite a bit. So much to catch up on.

Amelia continues to go 8hrs between her night feed so that is very good. She had her mchn check today and now weighs 9lb 12oz or 4.5kg. her head is in the top % so looks like she will have a big head. All other measurments are av. She loves her daddy as she smiles all the time for him where as everyone else has to work hard at it.
Our biggest acheivement is-she lays on her back with big bird play gym over her and she has learnt to hit the toys with her R hand. She has also learnt to move her pink teddy if put beside her.

Craddle cap has arrived. On her eyebrows(can you believe it) and forhead. I am smothering it with sorbalene cream which seems to be doing the trick.
Well I think that is it for now. Will hopefully post some personals soon.

WOW! We have some clever little babies in here! =D> to Liam for rolling over and =D> to Amelia for playing with her toys! Hudson doesn't even attempt to roll over yet and has only just started to hit and grab toys recently too. I must say that like pee, we don't do a lot of tummy time either as after about 1 minute Hudson screams about it too. I guess even 1 minute is better than nothing, but I really should try to get him on his belly more often.

My CHN said to me that even when he is laying chest to chest that is included as tummy time and as Ryley lays on my belly all the time to settle, she said it should be fine.
We had a HORRIBLE afternoon with the whole cot thing. I gave Ryley a bottle and waited til just before he went to sleep and put him in his cot. Well he was wide awake after that and that was it!! He was awake today for such a LONG time. 7.30-11 then 2-7.30 with only a couple of 5 minute power naps whilst i was holding him or in his pram. I think Ryley sees his cot as play time and not sleep time so I'll have to figure something out because he normally sleeps in his pram at night and pretty much for all his sleeps and at the rate he is growinghe will be too big to comfortably fit for a decent sleep pretty soon!

Hmmm.. the joys of parenthood. On the plus side I had my first laugh today. I was stroking his head trying to get him to sleep and I almost fell asleep myself and stroked his whole face!! He found it oh so amusing and I had a good 5 second giggle from him. Ryley has been reaching out to his toys for a week or so and when he moves them or touches the hanging ones he gets scared and/or upset. :-s

Well I am knackered so thats enough for me! Thanks for straightening out the one month needles. I thoght maybe i had lived in a bubble or somethinG!!

Hey Rose, you're not alone, Aidyn had really bad cradle cap on his eyebrows and forhead in the beginning (well, it actually arrived at about 6-8 weeks)
Its wonderful when they start playing with their toys isn't it! I remember being so excited when Aidyn did that!

Pee I don't have any advice on how to get them to settle in the cot, as I still can't do it! But what began to work for me from about week 8 was lying next to Aidyn on our bed and stoking his nose & head, & keep replacing his dummy until he falls asleep (though sometimes it is not as simple as I make it sound!!!) I know it doesn't answer the cot problem, but for me it ended up working like a dream to get him to take naps.

Argh... have to go to bed, will be up again in 6 hours.

Yeah Rose, Brandon had it on his eyebrows too. Almost gone now, but occasionally it comes back. We use olive oil.

Dont worry about not rolling Lachlan still doesn't either, but he doesn't get alot of floor time either otherwise Kameron will be rugby tackling him. I like knowing where he is LMAO.

I hear you about the whole floor time thing, thats why I've set up a play pen... I felt a bit guilty at first putting Matilda in a cage, but I had to keep the household animal & baby friendly and for now I thought I could set it up with quilts & toys and she loves it now, its her play area....she's just started picking up toys while on her belly and putting them in her mouth, so she'll reach out & grab something & pull it up into her mouth... bit cute although if its a little bit out of reach its the end of the world.

Thats something I wanted to ask... Matilda in the last two weeks has been either laughing/giggling/smiling or screaming like life is over.... I can't get around what is going on... and her screaming is awful, like she's being hurt... and sometimes I run to her & its just the fact that the toy is out of reach, or she's decided that she wants to be on her back but the thing is she can roll really well now and doesn't need any assistence so ???

So...my question is....has anyone else noticed their babies are settled one week and then tempermental the next??

I couldn't handle it this morning so I put her in her cot only to have her start giggling & chatting away :-s I've got the start of a migrane so I've taken a nurofen which you aren't supposed to take while bf but its the only thing that helps prevent migranes for me, so Matilda will just have to have bottles the next day or so & I'll just have to express her 2 feeds a day she's on.... and I've vomitted twice, done a PG test because I still haven't had a period and got very scared, but thats negative Thank God! But I think its just from the migrane... too bad there is sooooo much to do around here.... I'll just have a shower now while Matilda is asleep & hope things settle for me & for her!

It's so hot here. We went and boought some shades for the car, and a hat for brandon, and some shopping and on the way home (5 minutes) Brandon fell asleep in the car. He didn't even wake up when we got home and DP transferred him to the cot!

Hot here today too pushed the 38c barrier in the city. Hottest Adelaide day for October in 15 years nearly 39 where I live 25km out of the city.

lachlan is not liking it one bit. Kameron is having a field day out in his clam shell

Well a sad thing happened today, I was holding MAtilda because she didn't want to be put down today (our first official clingy day!) and I was on the computer and she arched her back quickly & smacked her head on the back of the wooden chair... it was so sad & I felt really bad, but since then she really isn't getting out of my arms for any reason other than she has fallen asleep & I can put her down for a minute... I'm getting the sling on next wake up so I can still do things with her in my arms! LOL!....

I hope it cools down for you girls!! YUCK! Today has been great here in the house, I haven't ventured out though...

Hi everyone

Asha is having a huge sleep this afternoon (has been asleep for almost 3 hours now)! We went and had photos taken this mornign and I can't wait to get them back ... she smiled so much the photographer couldn't believe how easy it was to make her smile. She said it usually takes a fair bit to get the kids to smile with the lights and camera etc ... We are having more photos taken on the 23rd October ... all of us :) Family portrait time (best Christmas presents in the world). Busy Busy Busy here!!!

I've started going through the toys and seeing what Liam can play with cause he loves pulling his dummy out and swinging it around and throwing it. He's hands are so strong but tiny and all I could find was a rattle for him to play with that would fit made out of plastic. So I was playing with it and I put it in his hands and he was all happy and then he swung it too hard and hit himself in the head and cried for bit.....Dont think I will be giving that back to him for a while.

I have to keep my eye on him now...since he rolled onto his belly 3 times yesterday and today was on the middle of lambswool on his back...went away for 5 mins and came back and he was still on his back but managed to squirm all the way off the bottom of the lambswool onto carpet. Donno how he does it Have started to roll up bunny rugs and putting them each side of him while he is down.

Ok I'm annoyed and gotta vent my annoyance so here goes....

It is soo hot here - Shynelle is not coping at all with the heat. She's been struggling to get in her bottles and she has been grizzling all day - except ofcourse when I hold her which has been most of the day and I'm thinking of putting her in the sling so I can do things if she doesn't settle in the next ten minutes.

I just spoke with DH and told him how Shynelle's unsettled and has been making it difficult for me to do anything today and all I got was "Well you need to sort yourself out cause other people do it and they can get things done" - I can't believe he said this - I have been working all morning from home for work and now he's complaining like I don't do anything when I'm working from home and going into the office as well as getting dinner sorted and keeping the house tidy (which is hard with him cause he picks NOTHING UP behind him) and feed, bath and entertain a 3 and a half month old baby!!!!!

Ok it's pretty much all out sorry for the complaint but I've got no where else to turn sometimes......

Oh dd. You tell him from me (and I'm sure the other girls in here too) that we don't get things done around the house and look after a baby and cook and work.

In fact I don't know how you find time to work from home at all! The most I do around here that isn't for Brandon is cook dinner. I do Brandon's bottles and washing, but as for cleaning, well I'll wash the dishes if I need them to cook, and sometimes I do them when DP is out for the day, but that's only when Brandon is settled.

He's sitting in his bouncinette next to me because he wouldn't settle in the lounge where DP is asleep, and it's too hot to hold him.

Tell your DH that when a baby won't settle, no one gets anything done and it's usually takeout for tea.

Hope Shynelle settles soon. Do you have a fan that you can put on in her room? If it's really hot there, you can do what my mum did with her first (45 years ago) and put a big block (these days I guess it would be a big bowl, cause those big blocks are harder to come by) of ice in front of the fan, so the air is blown over it, and voila! Homemade aircon!

Oh, and Spiddles, Brandon manages to do the same thing with his polar fleece blanket, and it's the size of a single bed! Although it usually takes him around ten minutes or so.

Your DH is spoilt. I just don't have the energy to do anything that isn't directly Brandon related right now. Except cooking later. I love cooking. But we're only having pizza anyway, so all I have to do is whack the toppings on the prepared bases, and throw them in the oven.

Oh DD, you poor thing. I hope Shynelle settles for you really soon and I can understand why you are annoyed with DH for what he said. I hope tomorrow is a much brighter day for you!

I have a question....when do babies normally start rolling over etc? I have noticed Jacob looking like he's about to do it IYKWIM....we put him on his tummy for his tummy time at least once a day and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it which is good. He also gets burped up on our shoulder and likes to lay up there and look around and out the windows etc so he's getting lots of exercise LOL. He's also hitting things in his playgym which is pretty cool! The poor little man got really hot today.... it's been pretty warm here too and we were out and about and I had to strip him off in the car because he was getting way too hot when in the carseat etc. Poor little thing. He's been a bit grumbly today from the heat too.....blluurrghh

Christy - I hope you're feeling better matey. Yucko migraines!! I'm also going to be getting a playpen as we have to make sure the house is animal and baby friendly as well. I really think it will ensure that Jacob has his own space and the animals can't invade it and at least if I need to leave the room for a minute I won't be panicking!!

Pee - Jacob isn't in a cot yet. He is sleeping in a bassinette in our room at night, and during the day we bring him out into our lounge room so that he gets used to sleeping during the day around noise and light etc (another tactic to get him to distiguish b/w night and day LOL). He usually either falls asleep in our arms or in the bassinette and we are trying to settle him in the bassinette more often now. We will shortly be moving him into his own room to sleep at night so that he gets used to that and then we will move him into the cot....basically we'll just take one step at a time I think. So unfortunately after me saying all that I'm not sure what to suggest about getting Ryley settled. Sorry for prattling on! LOL

I know it's ridiculus! I just can't be bothered with the grief later... I also didn't mention that since having Shynelle my legs don't work properly - I had huge fliud probs during PG that haven't settled I get dizzy spells and have to see a neurolagist to make sure nothing's gone a miss from pushing the baby out - He knows all this but I thinkl he forgets.

Sheesh!

I have one faint spell and DP is pushing me off to the docotr! I hope the neurologist finds something simple and not too serious that can be easily fixed!

Maybe you could sit your DH down and nicely suggest that he has unrealistic expectations of someone whose body is still recovering, and has two full time jobs! (working from home is still a job, even if you don't have to leave the house, and SAHM is double a full time job!)

You poor thing dd, I think that was very unfair of DH to say to you!!! :mad: Whenever DP tries to insinuate something like that, I go off at him!!! It sounds like you are doing a hell of a lot of work as it is!! - much more than I could cope with doing!! You should leave DH at home with Shynelle by himself one day, and write a list of all the other jobs that you would normally get done, and see how well he goes!!

Christy - so glad to hear you are feeling better now, and I hope Matilda has calmed down a bit too now.

Kelly - the photos sound like they will be absolutely gorgeous!! I would love to see them!

Tootie - Aidyn didn't roll over until he was nearly 4 months old. I think it would have taken him even longer if he didn't have so much tummy time, lucky for us he loves it too, I think he likes the different perspective on things. The first time he rolled was from tummy to back, but now 90% of his rolls are from his back to tummy.

I feel so bad for all of you guys with the terrible heat!! :( I have to admit that it actually hasn't been that bad in Brisbane today at all! (not that I noticed anyway)

Well... this arvo DH got home & bathed Matilda, brought in the clean laundry & was then feeding Matilda (while I sat & chatted with a friend...) and then Matilda had a huge power vomit! The entire bottle came back up and all over DH & the lounge & went all over the entire front of her, bib & all down her legs etc. I wonder if she's not well...I noticed her doing heaps of reswallowing today like her reflux is not as settled as it was before, maybe that has to do with it...hmmmm....

anyway... right now DH is doing the dishes from dinner & giving me some time alone, all I have to say is I know I'm spoiled, but I wouldn't change it for the world...

edited: Tootie don't worry too much about the rolling over, when Matilda was 10 weeks she was doing it often and we were in an early childhood centre and there were babies there who were 6 mths and weren't doing it... so its varied by the baby, personally I would have like Matilda to wait a bit longer, and I strapped her down for a few weeks in her rocker or in the pram lol,.... didn't work....

Liam was a bit spewy today too Christy and hardly had much boob all day....I was thinking maybe it is the hot weather because he is usally really good and keeps it down.

*hugs* DD....I was at home all day and we have just moved and managed to do 2 loads of washing, the dishes and unpack a few boxes and thats it...house is still a mess but at least DH understands as knows what Liam can be like.

I fell asleep with him on the lounge agin today...3rd day in a row. Seems I can put him and myself to sleep.

Whew!! It has taken me 2 long sittings to catch up with all the excitement here, I have finally read every post, of course I can't remember what I have read, they are all swimmng in my head.

dd my heart goes out to you. Sometimes Dh's are aggrevating and insensitive and just don't get it at all. This is coming from someone who knoews. I made a statement before I had Jemma (my 3rd) that when I was home the house would be spotless, up until I had her I worked full time and it was tough. Well guess what it was even tougher with 3 and two of them at home all the time, meant toys were all over the place, tea was never started and stuff just wasn't done. I was told I should be able to keep the house like a display home. I almost strangled a certain person. Now we have 4 cherubs who trash the house (not so much the 4th one yet but the others know I'm busy so they make up for it), and occasionally Dh has said something, but we end up in an almighty blue with me saying fine I will leave it all to him and the kids as well and see how it all turns out. Unfortunately you and I need to get a thicker skin and turn off when they start talking crap. And maybe your Dh wouldn't mind pitching in with saome things if he thinks it's easy to work and look after kids. My motto is if I'm stuffed I will do it tomorrow, sometimes it takes more than one tomorrow but too bad. Dh is starting to understand there are more important things to life than living in a display home, like my mental health for a start. And you are not the only one who doesn't get stuff done, we all know that, except if you are a male who doesn't have to do it.

Jessica has been so grizzly today too, I was at my parents, mum has had an op and Dad was home and I had to post parcels etc. from our ebay shop, so Dad was the nanny today, he did a great job but I think he was glad for us to go home, as Jessica just wanted to be held and everytime he put her in the pram she cried. She had him wrapped around her little finger.

Spiddles Liam is definetly rolling early, most babies start at about 4 months 16 weeks. So anything before that is pretty early as far as I know. Jessica also wriggles all over the place when on the floor, but I'm like kathryn, Jessica has a hard time getting on the floor with Jemma who is 19 months up and wanting to smother her with love.

I am so proud of Jemma, she has done poos and wees in the toilet and potty over the last 2 days, and is only 19months, actually I am shocked, the others were 2 and half before they even started. Only prob is I am so busy wioth bubs it is hard to chase her around.

I am going to take Jessica for photos tomorrow at Broadmeadows as she is 5 wekks old (done that with the other 3). Josh is going to the Aquarium in Melb with kinder and is super excited. I hope he behaves.

Goodnight all, I know I missed heaps of people but you girls are mad posters and I am a little confused.

I will have to read more regularly so I can know what is going on.

I donno why he is rolling and moving all over the place so soon...he is so strong though. When he was born didnt even have a floppy neck and now holds his head up by himself and he sure has a poweful kick. The doc said to me how could you stand being pregnant with him cause he is so active and strong.

It's ok Michelle, we yak a lot. Just look at Tootie, she joined 20 days before you, and she's already past 2000 posts! LOL

Spiddles, he's holding his head up already too? Gosh he is a clever little one! He'll be chasing you around the house soon!
