Thanks for the words of encouragement. When DH got home last night I was still angry with him and Shynelle was still unsettled. I told him how hard it is - he just shrugged and said us women these days have it easy - look at his mum she did it - I think I nearly had an aneurism! I said No.1 I'm not your mum and No.2 your mum NEVER worked - her only job was to look after kids and the house! I don't think we spoke until 11:30pm when Shynelle woke up screaming and he quitely asked me if everything was alright. Shynelle woke again at 3am (all unusal cause she's a good sleeper) we got up together and just forgot about being annoyed at one another. All I know is when I have left Shynelle with him for a few hours or even the day not one other thing happens - even if I've asked him to put his dirty dishes into the dishwasher it doesn't happen - but ofcourse that's different!! :evil:
Anyhow, Shynelle is much happier this morning although she still didn't want all of her bottle but she has been playing happily and giggling she's having a bit of a snooze at the moment so I think it was just the heat.
Shynelle has just started wriggling around and is doing it so badly its like she's doing and upside down crawl on her back. I have found her in the cot with her feet dangling out the sides in between the slates. It's worrying me and I don't know how to make it safer for her cause they say not to use bumpers or anything - I'm just wandering if I should wrap some fabric around the slates somehow in a way that won't just undo? I don't know any suggestions?

Christy - Shynelle has reflux and it does seem to settle for even a week now and comes back with a vengence the paed. told me this will happen as her digestive system matures so hopefully, that's all thats happened to Matilda and she isn't coming down with something [-o<
Michelle - I haven't had a chance to say thanks for your email I did get it - but as you can see alot happening my end! #-o

Big Hugs dd!!! Its so hard when DH's don't understand... one thing my mum said to me was in her day she had 7 sisters around her when she gave birth and was there for the first few months of 3 of her sister's babies, so in reality they always had someone around to help them, they had bigger families and it was just what was expected. Now, I don't have any relatives within driving distance, so you have to cope on your own most of the time. When I was in the early childcare centre they said that 90% of the women went there was because they didn't have any support at home, they hadn't ever been around newborn babies for extended periods and that they didn't have anyone at home helping them. I had heaps of support through friends, and I still struggled. I still struggle now & I'm not trying to work at home as well!! So come here to get support & vent anytime you like!! I only wish I could come over & help out a day a week or so... :hugs:

Brandon just took 50 mins to finish his bottle, but he wouldn't let me take it off him. And now he is dirtying his nappy, so we won't be going out just yet.
DD, as for what your DH said about his mum, well of course she did it. You made it through yesterday too. But that doesn't mean it was easy. My mum raised seven kids, and she's never told me that it was hard or that there were days when she wanted to give up, but I'm sure she had them. She never tells me that I've got it too easy, even though I'm 2 years older than she was with her first. I'm sure your MIL had hard days too, and if you ask her, she'll tell you what a terror DH was as a baby. But why would he be expected to know that?
Raising kids is a thankless job, even for those who have the best support, but it is worth it, as we all know, and I know it's sexist, but guys can't understand. I mean, some guys are great, and there are those SAHD, whom I take my hat off too. But we are the ones who bear them, and have the maternal instinct, it's a hormone thing. So guys automatically defer to us when it comes time to looking after the kids. My DP is wonderful, and I wouldn't change him for the world (not even for yours Christy lol) but he leaves most of the Brandon work to me. He even complains that he doesn't do enough for Brandon, that I have to do all the work, but the very next day, Brandon will be crying in the next room, and DP won't hear him until I (sitting at the other computer right next to him) get up and deal with Brandon. He can sleep through the loudest screams too. And he is the most loving father I know, but it's a physiological fact that women are the child bearers, and men are the protectors. It harks back to the cavemen, and as much as I loved being all macho when I was younger, hauling trusses and stage bits and speakers for the gigs we used to run, I find it infinitly more fulfilling being a mummy. And if that sets Womens lib back thirty years, I couldn't care less.

Of course (here comes the PC disclaimer) everything I've just said is just my opinion, and I am quite open to the possibility of being completely wrong, and in fact I reserve the right to be way off base. LOL

I have to agree with you there Susan, as much as my DP adores Aidyn he doesn't seem to have the same connection that I do... the connection that wakes me up if he makes the slightest whimper from his bedroom. Yet he could be screaming and DP still would sleep through it. Once during the day Aidyn and DP were having a nap together on the double bed, and I was napping on the spare bed in Aidyns room, yet I was the one that woke up when Aidyn started making his wake up noises - DP was still out of it, even though he was only 20cms away!
DD - Its hard isn't it... I mean all we really need is recognition of what we do, and sympathy and understanding of how hard it can be, from our DH/DP's, I mean its not like we are even asking them to help or anything!!!
(I know this doesn't apply to everyone though, so please don't take offense if your DH/DP isn't like that!!)
Hooray for Aidyn's tooth! Kinda makes you glad you're not bf'ing any more huh? I don't know that Brandon is actually teething at all, since there still doesn't appear to be much of a difference in the size of the white bumps. But he does love his teething ring, and I'm not too eager to go through the extremely fussy crying baby stage anyway lol.
Well, off to the shops now to get some things for the pink grapefruit and champagne sorbet I'm making

Aidyn seems a lot happier today now that it has finally broken through! Its very hard to see though, just this very thin little thing... much easier to feel.
Now I just have to wait for the one next to it which is coming up, hopefully wont take too long!!

Thank god it's cooler here today. It was 28 here yesterday....I know that's cooler than the likes of Adelaide and many other places, but it's pretty hot for Hobart! So thankfully Jacob's been a happier little tiger today. I'm still packing it about tomorrow with his immunisation...eeks. Wish me luck girls...I think I'm going to burst into tears before they even touch him! LOL
You'll be fine Tootie. If you were with Brandon I know he'd laugh at you for crying before they touched him.

well done on Aidyns first tooth (well done Aidyn I mean). Before you knoiw it he'll have a mouthful of them.
Tootie is tomorrow needle day? I remembe taking Jordan my first for her first injection, she cried before the needle cause it was council injections and all the babies were crying. I cried after she got the needle cause she was crying and they gave me a jelly bean (how embarrasment!) I then went to my GP for injections and things were fine. My brother tried to get me to take my niece as he felt bad but I refused, why shuld she be mad at me, I'm going to be her best Aunty! I know it seems bad but it is for a good cause. I have been through it all 3 times and have one to go. They are better when they are little. Joshua had to get his 5 yr old injection and I held his arms Dh held his legs and he screamed the drs down. The big woose!
I had my 6 week check today, went to the hospital where they told me to go only to be told that I had to go to my drs surgery as I was a private patient, which annoys me as I tried to tell the midwife who booked the appointment that, anyway the midwife from my delivery was there and kindly rang my Dr and made me an appoint for 4.30pm.
I took the girls, Jemma and Jessica to Broadmeadows shopping centre for photos, and I can't wait to see them. Jessica smiled and laughed and looked gorgous, Jemma was going to be a fairy, but within 2 secs ditched the tiara and wings and tried to take off the dress, we managed to distract her a little with a wand and a rousing rendition of Twinkle Twinkle and she was so cute. The only problem, as usual is the price Approx $330 for all the poses (about 6). But I am a sucker and usually buy everything as they are only that age once and the thought of them destroying photos of my babies is very sad.
Hope things are a little calmer for you dd. Arron went fishing yesterday arvo, got home about 9.30-10pm and then tonight had the cheek to comment on the state of the house. Well well! If he has a complaint then he should pick up his dirty clothes from outside the bathroom, clean up the mess he made when he cooked tea, and get his slippers out of the lounge. I have been out the last 2 days sso bad luck. I told him to "Shut up or clean up yourself!" He grumbled but didn't clean- his bad luck.
Today was a muggy day which ended in rain, I hate extremes in weather. AT least I got the washing in, I hate spending an hour hanging it out and then having to re-dry it cause I forgot to bring it in.

Yep Michelle, today was needle day. I had to giggle at you being given a jellybean! hehehe LOL @ Jemma ditching the tiara and wings....so glad that Jessica was smiling and laughing for them!!
Jacob was such a good boy with his needles....he only cried very briefly which was good and he's having a bit of a sleep ATM. He seems a bit restless though....like he's not able to 'properly' sleep IYKWIM? He's been a little grizzly but nothing major. I'm so proud of him for being so good and not screaming the doctor's surgery down! LOL And I'm proud of me for not screaming it down either! ROFLMAO I couldn't look when the nurse gave him the needles mind you....
LOL... I used to work with a GP in Sydney and sometimes when the babies came for vaccinations, I would go in to help hold them & the Mums would go out! But then when it was time for Matilda's needles I closed my eyes & looked the other way! LOL!!!

I am petrified of Ryley getting needles now!
We have had a crazy last two days!! We went to visit IL's for dinner and all day Ryley was crying and grizzly. We settled him in the car on the way over but when we got there... holy moly!! He cried and cried. I knew he had a belly ache the poor little thing. MIL (was shocked that she did this!) rubbed his belly for about an hour and he did his poop. Well it was the dryest poop i have ever seen in my life- and i've worked with disabled and elderly people. I started crying coz i thought that would have really hurt. Then he slept like a log which was good. Then yesterday he decided he doesnt want to fall asleep after/ during a feed anymore (remember my concern!! pfft!!) and wants to play all the time. It was horrible this morning as after every feed 12, 3am and 6am he wated to play and wouldnt sleep and for some subconcious reason i cant sleep until he is settled!! GRRR!!! :)
Now he is asleep in his rocker. I tricked him into sleeping by turning off the telly and leaving the room so there was zero stimulation. He cried for a bit but i knew he was okay and then he fell asleep. Not the best place to sleep but he looks comfie!
I cant wait to go have my 6 week check up to see how long til i can play sport again!! hehehehe

I must be blessed here in Perth coz the weather is pretty mice for the last few days. Not too hot not too cold. A bit drizzly but nothing to whinge about. You should all move to Perth see!! Then the WA forum wouldnt be so.... uneventful!! hehehehe

Yay for Jacob being a good boy with the needles. Brandon was unsettled like that after his second lot, but I put that down to having to be at grandmas for tea that night (i'm not the only one not fond of MIL) as well as needles.
What a day!! Am exhausted. Have a wedding on Saturday so went shopping and bought Liam a pumpkin patch outfit. Had to go buy myself something too as nothing fits. Before I was pregnant was size 8 now am pushing size 16 (its not good)
Been going through boxes and giving everything we havent used in months to the bushfire victims...helps us and helps them.
Pee go to the doc and get it checked out. A week after Liam was born was getting really strong pains worse than what the had been. Went to doc and had infection and needed antibotics. He said its very comon in women that have vaginal births. I know you had a cesaren but get it checked out.
I cant really tell how much Liam is having because he is breast fed but seems to want it every 2 hours during the day and when I do express he usually finiahes a whole bottle which is around 125 mils and sometimes wants more. He hasnt been weighed in 3 weeks and his checkup isnt until next week as couldnt fit him in. He seems heavier and has 5-8 wet nappies a day but usually has the smae amount of poos. Everyone always says how tiny he is. Hope he is doing ok.
OMG I seriously spoke too soon before........Jacob hasn't been a happy camper at all!! He was asleep when I posted before, but holy cow, when he woke up, it was awful. He was just screaming his little head off....I was crying with him!!! It was time for a feed too so I did that in amongst the bouts of screaming and he managed to take quite a bit of the bottle and was sleepy to boot and was trying to fall asleep in my arms, but every time I moved, he woke up and screamed again! In the end I had to put him in his bassinette as I needed to go to the loo!! He's finally stopped screaming and is having another sleep.....it's definitely the needles that are making him so sleepy as he doesn't normally sleep immediately after a feed during the day (or at least not 2 feeds in a row). He's actually awake a lot during the days and has only one proper sleep during the day (and he slept for 10 hours last night! OMG!) One of his legs is quite red too....poor little man. I've got the panadol on standby for later on just in case! I hope he's ok......

Pee - Sorry to hear that Ryley is giving you a hard time. Asha went through a stage like that but she is pretty much over it ... in fact she sleeps through the night most nights (she has woken at 2.30 twice in the last month!). I sure hope Ryley is feeling better ... Asha is always so happy when she has done a poo LOL.
Tootie - Sorry to hear that Jacob isn't very happy. I will say to you that when Emma & Jack were immunised it was advised to give them a dose of Panadol about 30 minutes before their immunisations so that the Panadol would kick in just after they had their needles. Just thought I would let you know. Asha is off for her second lot next week, not looking forward to it because I know that these ones will be worse (in terms of her reaction).
Spiddles - I bet Liam looks just gorgeous in his outfit. I love Pumpkin Patch but have to go on my own as Ryan says they are too expensive and won't let me buy anything when he is there. As for being tiny ... poeple are still telling me that about Asha. She isn't that tiny anymore ... still compared to my other two she is a wee little thing.
Ambah - Glad to hear Aidyn's tooth has finally cut through. Just be sure to brush it now ;) .
Christy - Sorry to read about your good/bad news the other day. I didn't reply as I had no idea what to say because I was like you ... part of me would have sent it all back and the other part of me would have wanted to spend it on the kids. I was thinking about you though and am glad you and Pete have worked out a solution that suits you.
Michelle - Can't wait to see the photos ... I am the same when it comes to photos I usually buy the lot even if it means I have to go without something LOL ... can't bear not to buy them (unless theya re really bad ones). I should get Asha's photos in the mail in the next couple of weeks and I then have 7 days to pay for them or take them back. The whole collection will cost $260 and I go back to work on Monday so guess what my first pay cheque will be covering LOL.
Well Emma & Jack get back today at 4.30 and Asha has a Chiropractor appointment at 3.30 so we will be cutting it fine. Hopefully the plane will be a little late or we get out of the Chiropractors quickly.
I had Asha weiged today and she is now 6100gms and is 62cms long and has a head circ of 60cms. She is growing so fast ... she will be 4 months on Monday (the day I go back to work) and I would love for her to stop here for a little while. I have to remember to start making bigger bottles although she still struggles to get through 180mls some feeds!!!
Well better go as I have a heap of things to do before I go to the airport etc...

Pee - Have you tried giving Ryley cooled boiled water?? (donno if that will help with constipation) Don't they say that formula fed babies can get dihydrated.

well hello there girls
heree i am after only posting once in the newborn forum, lani will be 1mth tommorrow, so i thought i would do an update.
i have been having a bit of trouble settling lani, but it seems that it is my problem, i over stimulate her, i cannot stop rushing to her as soon as she starts crying (or talking as the health nurse says) you think i would know after 3 but i suppose what we went through it seems to be a bit hard.
anyway last saturday night it took from 6pm till midnight to get her to sleep, dummy, patting, rocking feeding etc etc etc, of course every time i went to her i was not allowing her to go to sleep, so now when i put her down i just leave her and if she crys i wait 1 minute then go and resettle without eye contact, and usually just a pat until she stops crying but not until she goes to sleep (which is what i was previously doing) anyway this has been working a dream and i usually only spend a total of 5 mins settling and she has her nice long proper sleeps, she is up a max of 1 1/2 hrs during the day before showing tired signs then i am straight to it. she usually has last feed around 6pm then 2am or 4am then is unsettled from around 5.30am so i put her into bed with me and let her feed when she wants till i get up at around 7am, she generally needs a few feeds in the morning and i am trying to let her go no longer than 3 or 4 hrs during the day but i hate waking her and when i do she is not interested anyway.
she is now over 4kgs and is the length my ds was when he was born 55cm, she is gaining weight well and i am now a very happy mummy, i have my contented baby back which was at the hospital so that is good, i have also been cooking our meals during the day and reheating whenever so it makes it easier, although ds is a bit confused why i cook dinner at lunch time or whatever lol.
sorry for the epic just thought i would let you guys know how we are doing and will try and get on a bit more.
i am off to read the 1st, 2nd and 3rd tri's although i get a little teary and clucky when i read these so maybe i shouldn't lol.

Hey Spiddles- I tried giving him water yesterday and he drank about 50ml of it. Then he had 20 ml of bottle. Well this morning I woke to a beautiful slightly runny nappy so i think that might have done the trick!!

We bought a photo printer yesterday and for Ryley's thank you cards I am printing up pics of him with- Thankyou for welcoming me into the world! Love from Ryley xx on them. I think it is cute!!

Must be astrolady. Ended up buying a black holterneck dress so enphsis is on my boobs and not my belly and the only reason bought a pumpkin patch outfit for Liam as is a special occasion. There is no other way I can justify spending $40 on an outfit for him. Hopefully he will get a few weeks out of it maybe months.
Have 3 expressed milk bottles frozen to take with me as dont really like breast feeding in public but then I donno what to do when I get full and uncomfortable. Maybe I will have to take breast pump wiith me and dump it. I have no idea this will be our first big day out. Is in brissy and will be over a 1 and a half hour trop each way.

edited to say: Pee - Matilda is constipated too atm, and when she was before they told me to use 1st cooled boiled water, then add a tiny pinch of brown sugar to it, 3rdly to use prune juice diluted in the cooled boiled water. So today she did a really dry nugget (TMI) and I added some prune juice to water, she drank 30mls so I hope for a large nappy soon! Funny the things we hope for! :D

It was just so funny today watching the babies watch each other! Matilda was so gorgeous and would just crack up laughing when she looked at Aidyn or Tahlia... it was soooooooo sweet!!

LOL about the photos Kelly and Michelle... I just forked out $230 for 5 photos (3 big and two little) and I still can't believe I did it! But I just had to... there was no way I was sending them back, I even got them framed before I paid for them, lmao!!

Welcome Michelle, it's temptiing to run every time isn't it but you really do start to lose it when you can't get anything done. Glad to hear things are settling down, and Lani is well.
Boiled water is what my MCH sister suggested between feeds to soften poos as the formula I use can be a little constipating. It seems to work,and Jessica is used to the formula now, we only need it when she is unsettled an hour after a feed and seems hungry or when it's warm.
I am waiting for the photos to load on matildas website Christy, I am so excited!
Oh Tootie, your poor darling. Jordan my 1st had a huge bruise after her first needle. i agree with the give panadol anyway idea, it seems to help them settle. Hopefully everything is back to normal by tomorrow.
Have fun at your weddings Kathryn and Spiddles! I have had at least 1 wedding during every pregnancy but none when I haven't been pregnant, so I always look like a round ball, and hide when a camera appears. Now that I am finished having babies nobody will get married, they will all decide to live in sin indefinetly LOL.
I got on the scales yesterday and was pretty happy. I am only 1kg over the weight I had when I first got preg with Jessica. That means that to get to my ideal weight I need to lose 5 or 6 kgs. Sound alot all of a sudden.
The weather is starting to get nicer and then I am going to start walking. It's been too cold and I can't take the little kids out in that so I have to wait.
I should get out the gym ball, I've never used it and I really want to. Does anyone else have one they use?

Sorry about that Michelle :-k dunno whats going on... I use the gym ball a bit, but what I really use it for is Matilda, I put her on it with her belly down and roll her downwards towards a toy on the ground...

Pee Big Hugs! I hope Ryley settles quickly tonight! Matilda went though that phase recently where she wouldn't got back to sleep....its really exhausting!
spiddles - when I was at work & bfing I would go to the toilet and express a bit off when they got full... just took around 5 minutes in there and just enough to be comfortable again.

The photos of the pram push kids are just so cute!! I really want to have a site for piccies of Hudson, but we don't have a digital camera yet :( . DH suggested we get one a couple of years ago and I said what do we want that for #-o . I am so silly. Of course we weren't planning on having a bub so soon either at that point in time.

Not much happening here atm. Haven't been home for the last 24 hrs or so as I took Hudson down to the city to see his daddy yesterday as DH is staying with my sister this week and next for uni. Decided we would stay the night rather than do the long drive home after dinner, and thank goodness Hudson had a great night and slept through from 8.30pm to 7am =D> . My sister and her husband said not to worry about him crying and waking them, but then they don't have children yet and I don't think they really understand the reality of a screaming baby at 3am lol. I could just imagine them complaining to DH for the next week about their lost sleep if Hudson had had a bad night lol. Ok, sleep time for me!

Just a quick one today as I'm getting ready to go away on holidays tomorrow!
Cohen gave me the best nights sleep last night - what an angel! Went to Trivia last night and he was such a good boy. Then we got home by 9.30pm and I fed him again. Put him to bed (and myself!) and he slept through to 4.00am! What a star! He then went back to sleep until 7.30am!
I feel so much better today, I wish he would do that every night.
Also, the other thing that he did was during tummy time, he pulled his legs up under himself so he was almost in a crawling position! He hasn't got the strength in his arms yet to hold himself up properly though. He then sort of pushed himself a bit forward and back onto his tummy. All at 4.5 months old. This kid can't wait to be moving!
Anyway, must dash. Still have to do a whole bunch of stuff. Sorry I can't reply to any of you but it takes me ages to read through all the posts and then by the time I post, I've forgotten everything I wanted to say! Will try and keep up better when I get back.

JUst wanted to say good bye to all you girls personally, I've posted a general, but I wanted to say goodbye again to you all.
My ILs are using BB to check up on me, and since I don't want to have to hold back on vents and other posts, I've decided to leave bb.. It really upsets me, as I don't know what I would have done without all the support you've given me, but now I'll never be able to post without feeling someone is reading over my shoulder, and odds are saying goodbye because of it is only going to get me into worse trouble on the weekend, but what can I do? Feel free to email me any of you, it woiuld be nice to hear what everyone and their kids are up to still.
I'll probably ghost for a little while to catch responses, but this is pretty much it for me.

I will definately email you, I'm so sorry as this has been such a support for me getting through this time in my life, and now you have to loose this because of them... I'm so sad for you! & us girls really treasure your input!
Susan - I just read this in your other post and replied but I just want to say again that we will really miss you here! I must also say How dare they? It is such an invasion of privacy and it really is an aweful thing for you to have to go through. :hugs:
Oh Susan! How awful!! I'm really sorry that this is happening to you. You will be missed on the forums, that's for sure.
Just quickly, thankfully Jacob settled down yesterday. After he had his screaming session, he went to sleep and when he woke the next time, he was fine. His leg looks much better now too which is good. Perhaps me putting the cold face washer on it, even for just a short while, did help it. He's been a bit extra sleep today and yesterday (during the day), but apart from that, he's ok. Phew.....I'm so glad my little man is ok!!
