After another crappy night, I got up with Blake at 6am when he woke. I fed him and played with him and he went back to sleep around 7.30am, which is what he did yesterday. Great I thought, I'll be able to wake him to take him to school about 8.45am and he'll have had lots of sleep and be fine for the photos. Well he woke about 8.15am. Whilst he was I sleep, I ironed my clothes and Blake's clothes, then realise the tshirt I was going to have him in had a couple of little marks on it. Bummer. Had a shower and took DD to school. On the way she realised she'd forgotten something so she asked if I could drop it back in for her. Sure (lilke I have plenty of time!) Told her I'd drop it off between 9.30 - 10am, on my way to the photos for 10.30am.
Tried to decide what to do about his clothes, so I dropped DD off at school and went to Kmart at Boronia - 5 mins away. Put Blake in Baby Bjorn so I didnt have to get pram in and out. Couldnt find anything I liked - wanted a white tshirt with a simple design on it. Came home as I remember there was one in his wardrobe but I'd need to iron it. Came home ironed his new tshirt, got changed and ran out the door, oh yeah, washed the olive oil out of his hair as he had a bit of cradle cap I wanted to get rid of before photos. Also boiled kettle in case he didnt b/f as sometimes he wont when we're out so I often take a sachet of formula and water to make bottle if needed.
Raced out the door to take DD's wombat to school as promised. Got to school, got Blake out, went up to classroom but the class wasn't there. Left wombat in her tub. Went back to car. Realised hadnt packed his baby bag with formula in it. Could cope without other stuff, but not formula if he refused to feed as he was due for a feed when we were to arrive at photo studio. Raced back home to get bag, and went to studio.
Got there, had to wait while receptionist was on phone for 5 minutes. Told to sit and wait, which was good as I gave Blake a b/f so he was happy. Mind you he was also due for a sleep as he didn't have long sleep this morning. Filled in a form, got Blake changed as I didnt' want him to go in the car in his photo clothes as he's dribbling lots.
Waited waited waited for our turn. Blake was just about to drift off to sleep when they called us - 40 minutes late!!!! I walked into the studio and it was freezing! Not only was I p!ssed off that we'd waited for SO long, I'd already discussed getting some naked shots of him and the studio was like a freezer! When I mentioned it to the photographer who I'd spent 10 mins on the phone the day before explaining exactly what I wanted, including naked (or near naked) shots, she went, Oh yeah, it might be a bit cold, let me put the heater on. I told her not to bother due to 1) the delay, 2) Blake needing sleep, 3) the cold. When she asked if she could rebook as I told her not to bother as I wouldn't come back.
OK, now that I've got that out of my system!
But I'm really disappointed as I'd spoken to the photographer the day before and I was really looking forward to getting the shots done. I didn't want Anne Geddes cute-sie type shots, I wanted lovely ones of my boy, capturing his smile and his essence.
I think I'll just ask my SIL if she can take them for us. She used to do photography for a living for a few years and has a great camera and a good eye. I'm sure she'll get some great shots.
