We had a better night last night, although I still had to feed Blake once - can't remember now what time it was! He's slept quite well during the day and is asleep now. Normally he has a little nap while we have dinner then is up for about an hour, then a feed and bed for the night. Well he hasn't woken up from the dinner time nap. Trying to decide if I wake him or not. I dont' think I will, I'll just see how he goes. I will however tape House, cause he's bound to wake between 8.30 and 9.30pm if I don't!

    Angel said...
Kynan loves TV as well. I don't let him watch it much either but occasionally I'll put him on his fitball with the telly on for a few minutes and it encourages him to lift his head.
Angel, what do you mean by his fitball? To me a fitball is a Swiss ball thing that you use at the gym or for exercising, can also be used instead of a chair at a desk. Surely this isn't what Kynan has, is it?

Tomorrow we're going to get some portraits taken of Blake. The company who took his photo in hospital called to see if we wanted to do a session so I said yes. The photographer called today to discuss the type of photos I'm hoping for and it was really good. As much as I've had some nice "Pixie photo" shots, they are always very "ship 'em in, ship 'em out" IYKWIM. From the sounds of this photographer she will allow plenty of time to get 'the right shots' so hopefully we'll get some great shots of our little man (I dread already how much they'll charge but they're only young once. I may even take Viv back if they turn out well)

Well I can hear him stirring now so I'm outta here to get my video tape set up!

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry i haven't been around much this week. Went out all day Tuesday and since then really not felt 100%.

Alex has gone back to waking at night. DH feed him at 10:30pm and i thought Alex would sleep all night as he also had 3 small solid meals yesterday. He woke at 1:50 and then again at 4:30 but would not go back to sleep so i have been up since 4:30 this morning. When DH finally gets up at 6:30 he says to me couldn't you sleep and all i wanted to do was cry as i was so tired and i said yes i could sleep but Alex would not go back to sleep. I gave Alex some babyrice and his milk this morning just glad he is now liking his rice. Will give him so more food later to see if that helps at all. He is fast alseep in his bed at the moment and has been for nearly 2 hours. If he does the same today i will talk to the CYN but i know what she will say it's probably a growth spurt.
Really hoping Kimberley and Alex will both have a lunch time sleep at the same time so i can have a rest even if it is just sitting watching telly.

Dee - That is great sleep Matthew had. Maybe he should have words with Alex for me

Angel - How are you and Kynan ?
I let Alex watch telly a little but that's only when i want to do something as he does like ABC kids and some of Kimberley's dvd's.

Sorry will catch up with you all again later.

    Hi All

    How is everyone?

Rachel-So glad to hear you had a good night last night with Blake.
I hope you got your tape set up in time. I love House, such a great show. How did Blake's photo shoot go? I hope you get some good ones and that it's not too pricey.

Michelle-Sorry to hear that you're having a tough time, I hope Alex is just going though a growth spurt and will settle down soon. Great to hear he's liking the baby rice. [-o< Alex and Kimberley have that afternoon nap so you can get some rest too.

Hope everyone is having a good day

Bec, don't ask me about the photo shoot!!!

After another crappy night, I got up with Blake at 6am when he woke. I fed him and played with him and he went back to sleep around 7.30am, which is what he did yesterday. Great I thought, I'll be able to wake him to take him to school about 8.45am and he'll have had lots of sleep and be fine for the photos. Well he woke about 8.15am. Whilst he was I sleep, I ironed my clothes and Blake's clothes, then realise the tshirt I was going to have him in had a couple of little marks on it. Bummer. Had a shower and took DD to school. On the way she realised she'd forgotten something so she asked if I could drop it back in for her. Sure (lilke I have plenty of time!) Told her I'd drop it off between 9.30 - 10am, on my way to the photos for 10.30am.

Tried to decide what to do about his clothes, so I dropped DD off at school and went to Kmart at Boronia - 5 mins away. Put Blake in Baby Bjorn so I didnt have to get pram in and out. Couldnt find anything I liked - wanted a white tshirt with a simple design on it. Came home as I remember there was one in his wardrobe but I'd need to iron it. Came home ironed his new tshirt, got changed and ran out the door, oh yeah, washed the olive oil out of his hair as he had a bit of cradle cap I wanted to get rid of before photos. Also boiled kettle in case he didnt b/f as sometimes he wont when we're out so I often take a sachet of formula and water to make bottle if needed.

Raced out the door to take DD's wombat to school as promised. Got to school, got Blake out, went up to classroom but the class wasn't there. Left wombat in her tub. Went back to car. Realised hadnt packed his baby bag with formula in it. Could cope without other stuff, but not formula if he refused to feed as he was due for a feed when we were to arrive at photo studio. Raced back home to get bag, and went to studio.

Got there, had to wait while receptionist was on phone for 5 minutes. Told to sit and wait, which was good as I gave Blake a b/f so he was happy. Mind you he was also due for a sleep as he didn't have long sleep this morning. Filled in a form, got Blake changed as I didnt' want him to go in the car in his photo clothes as he's dribbling lots.

Waited waited waited for our turn. Blake was just about to drift off to sleep when they called us - 40 minutes late!!!! I walked into the studio and it was freezing! Not only was I p!ssed off that we'd waited for SO long, I'd already discussed getting some naked shots of him and the studio was like a freezer! When I mentioned it to the photographer who I'd spent 10 mins on the phone the day before explaining exactly what I wanted, including naked (or near naked) shots, she went, Oh yeah, it might be a bit cold, let me put the heater on. I told her not to bother due to 1) the delay, 2) Blake needing sleep, 3) the cold. When she asked if she could rebook as I told her not to bother as I wouldn't come back.

OK, now that I've got that out of my system!

But I'm really disappointed as I'd spoken to the photographer the day before and I was really looking forward to getting the shots done. I didn't want Anne Geddes cute-sie type shots, I wanted lovely ones of my boy, capturing his smile and his essence.

I think I'll just ask my SIL if she can take them for us. She used to do photography for a living for a few years and has a great camera and a good eye. I'm sure she'll get some great shots.

    (Thanks for letting me vent!)

Thanks Heather I`ll check the Babynat site out

Michelle - so sorry to hear that you had such a bad night, I hope tonight is much better for you, I agree Matthew needs to have a talk with Alex

Racheal - so sorry to hear about the photographer but I`m glad you told her your NOT coming back

Shannon - YAY for being back hom and double yay for Jessalyn to be sitting, she`s going ahead in leaps and bounds

Brooke - I`m so glad that your feeling better. As you know Matthew has ben waking up again at night since he was 15 weeks and it was getting to the stage that I was up feeding him 3/4 times a night but we seem to be over all that now after the MCHN recommended to start solids, not that I`m recommending solids I`m just saying what happened in Matthew`s case of nightly wake ups.

As for turning the car seat, we haven`t as yet, Matthew`s quite happy the way it is.

I did put sunscreen on Matthew about 6 weeks ago when we were in the sun all day long and the only one I had on me was an amcal brand (it was a sample). Glad Maya is doing so well.

Better go, Matthew`s screaming, he doesn`t want to go to sleep

Shannon i have thought about sleep school and will see what the CYN says tomorrow about it all. Some days i feel great and today is just one of those days i don't i think with AF being here and me having such a horrible day out Tuesday it's just caught up with me.
It's great to see you are both home again.

Brooke great to see you back. I turned Alex's car seat around a few weeks ago and i think that has helped with his head as he also has a flat head on one side.

Rachel sorry to hear you had trouble getting your photos done. Hope you can find someone nice to do them for you.

Dee is Matthew still sleeping all night for you ?

I am feeling better now thanks everyone for the hugs. Once Alex woke from his sleep we went food shopping and they where both good. When we got home Kimberley took herself off to bed and i feed Alex then he went to bed. I sat and watched last nights CSI Miami and then made chocolate brownies and they are so yummy. I have given Alex 3 solid meals today and lots of milk so we will see what happens tonight.

Michelle - Matthew had an 11 hr sleep last night, I was lying there waiting for him to wake and I`ve decided I do miss getting up to him at night, Mark thought I was crazy when I mentioned that to him this morning but today we`re having a no sleep in cradle day, this morning he didn`t want to sleep in his cradle so ended up going to sleep in the beanbag beside Daddy and the same now, he`s fallen asleep in my lap after not wanting to sleep in his cradle. I`m glad your feeling better today

WTG Matthew on your sleeping well for mummy and daddy.
Sometimes they don't like to sleep in the same spot at lunch time now i have stopped leaving Alex in his chair and been putting him in his cot to sleep.

Somedays what upsets me is that i don't get much help from DH unless i ask and i shouldn't always have to ask for help.

Brooke - you can get the babynat in perth as i saw it on the web - fullife pharmacy (thats the same place i got it in sydney). I havent turned hendy around yet but would love to as he hates his seat also. Every time i put him in it makes him chuck even when he hasnt had a feed for a while so im sure it puts pressure on his osophegus (sp). Glad your feeling better sweet! Good on you for getting out and doing some exercise (i need to do the same). I got some sunscreen for hendy from the cancer council esp for bubs but havent used it yet!

Hey All! Once again I've been AWOL! It's kinda tricky getting online every day now that Tim is at home all the time. It's nice to have the time to spend together though.

Hannah is doing well. I think we're on top of her eczema after our trip to see the specialist in Brisbane last week. She has a couple of new ointments which seem to be working wonders. Her sleeping is still terrible! I haven't had 2 hours in a row sleep for days! She does do the occasional 4 hour sleep (just not this week so far). Nevermind. We're going to Riverton on the 31st.

She's such a lovely little person to be around these days. She smiles and laughs all the time, and blows raspberries at passers by. We're past the stage of being able to leave her on the floor unsupervised for any period of time. She can roll across the room in seconds! She is now planting her feet firmly into the ground and pushing herself along on her tummy to get to her favourite toys, and can sit up for about 10 seconds (on a pretty serious angle though!). Very cute and cuddly (8040g). Ok - I'm gonna stop now. Can you tell I'm a proud Mum and totally in love?

Now if we can just get the little rascal to sleep!

Michelle - sounds like Alex has been giving you a bit of a hard time! It is so tough when they change their routine all of a sudden. I cope ok with the sleep deprivation most days - but I find it trickier when I've had a couple of good nights to go back to the not-so-good nights iykwim. Hopefully it's just a short phase he's going through.

Dee - lol @ missing getting up at night! Funny enough - I know what you mean. It is a special time those wee hours.

Shannon - Sounds like Jess is getting into a good routine for you there! I am most impressed with her sitting! Love the photos on your site. You have such a cute little family.

Rachel - bummer about the photographer... it all sounds very unprofessional. Hope your SIL can get some good ones.

Hi everyone else! Hope you are all well!

re: the car seat thing - Hannah's is still rearward facing. I'd like to keep it that way until she's 12kg (as per the max weight for that position), but I get the feeling Hannah will have other ideas. She's only just 8kg now, but I will wait and see.

Juliette welcome back. Hannah is doing great sounds like she is full of fun no wonder she doesn't want to sleep she must always be thinking of the next thing she can do.

Hope everything goes well at Riverton at the end of the month.

IKWYM about it being hard once you have had a good nights sleep for a few nights that could be why i am feeling the way i am.

Alex is already in bed so fingers crossed he sleeps better tonight all i need to do now is get Kimberley to bed then i can have a nice glass of red wine not that i need any help getting to sleep.

Heather, thanks I'll have a look at that site.

Rachel, yep it's just one of those little exercise balls. Our CHN suggested it when we had problem getting Kynan to lift his head during tummy time. We hold him on the fitball on his tummy and it really encourages him to lift his head and look around. Sorry to hear about the photo session!

Michelle, hope Alex settles down for you again soon!

Shannon, welcome back!! I'm really glad to hear that Jess is doing so well now.

Brooke, that's great that Maya went so well with her needles! I haven't put sunscreen on Kynan yet as I'm yet to find one that's suitable for bubs less than 6 months. I did see an all natural one somewhere on the net so I'll have to suss that out. I haven't turned Kynan's carseat yet. He doesn't mind it rearward facing so I figure I'll leave him that way as long as I can seeing as it's safer.

Juliette, glad to hear that Hannah's eczema is under control now! Good luck with Riverton!
