Byron normally runs away giggling, like it is some sort of game. He must have heard the panic in my voice when I called out because he turned straight away. At least he pays attention when I am serious.:

Mel, :hug: to you! Omg how scary!! Oskar can't get out of our yard, well not that I can tell anyway. As for the shops, I have to go in the mornings and be home for sleeps cos he doesn't go in the pram anymore and hasn't for about 5 months now and hadn't gone to sleep in it for even longer! He rarely goes to sleep in the car now either unless he's really tired. I reckon Elijah sleeps with the noise cos he's used to it too...lol and they have no choice!

Oh dear Jas. I hope you are all better now. 9 days is just awful, the poor little fella and they just don't understand at that age either. It must've been quite a tiring time for you.
Now, here I sit, watching my little one sleeping and he looks so adorable, so peaceful, so little (even though he's now around 6 1/2 kg and about 10cm longer than birth) and just an angel... BUT TODAY HE'S 3 MONTHS OLD!! How did this happen?? How did it get to 3 months ALREADY!!??? Where did my time with my baby go? It's snuck up and bit me on the butt. I'm feeling a mixed feeling of happy, sad etc... he's my baby and growing up so fast already and laughing and smiling and his WHOLE face just glows when he sees me walking over to him. *sighs* my little man.
Oh Cass, you big sop! How is it that these completely useless little bundles can turn us into big softies with a smile or a goo? I was wondering where the time went too. 3 months... what big boys we have. :D
Things are going fine here. I think Edward might be getting a tooth already though. He has started drooling lots and his hand is constantly in his mouth and I think I can feel a little rough bit on his gum. I suppose it doesn't really matter when they come, it has to happen sometime. He is still being lovely, just not sleeping quite as well.
Byron is driving me a bit batty. He tries to climb the fence everytime we are in the yard now so I have to keep and eye on him constantly. No relaxing for me. :doh: He chucked a tantrum at the belly belly breakfast yesterday while all the other kids were still being nice, which just makes me feel like a terrible mother. I hope he grows out of the tantrums soon!!

Jas - that is so awful about noah - poor little guy and POOR YOU. you can't rationalise it for them. it's terrible when they're sick you feel so helpless :(
Ozzie - omg i agree 3 MONTHS ALREADY - lachlan is 3 mths tomorrow and it feels like it's zoomed away. which makes me think omg i'll be OLD soon and he'll be my age and omg. quick wheres the remote - want to press PAUSE :lol:
berrme - that sounds so worrying byron climbing the fence, in his eyes he's just exploring new things/ skills but bloody scary! eeek!
well we've had a tumultuous last week. ummmm.... I'm afraid to say cos i feel like such a bad mummy and i'm sure others will disagree with what we did (mother guilt x1000)... so here i go.........
we had lachlan circumcised a week ago today. my mum saw something on abc that it has major health benefits and the baby barely squarked and also my BIL had issues when he was a kid so had to get done when he was 4. well its BS. the dr was HORRIBLE. didn't put enough anisthetic there and he felt some of it. still cannot write how awful it was. my MIL was there thank GOD. the freaking dr didn't have a nurse there and so MIL had to hold lachlan and try distract him (i was told on ph that they take him into a room and 20 mins later done - what a load of crud). omg i was in the room and *expletive* he screamed and screamed and screamed. i was so upset i almost passed out from the stress and got sent out of room but i could still here him. anyway we had a bad night that night. as you would and i feel SOOOOO bad i put him through that. he's been ok some nights and others difficult to settle.
My mum took it bad too cos she suggested it and kept on at me to organise it. but it didn't go down how it showed on tv....
it's done now but if i knew that it would happen liek that i would not have done it. :'( i want to cry for hurting our little man. freaking dr (rude word)... heartless, piece of dog .... $#@!.
*sigh* on good note my mum looking after him all night sat while DP and i go out for tea and stay at hyatt (won a night) YAY. v excited. hope our lil man is good and sleeps well. some nights he sleeps thru others he doesnt.
Oh Sacha, you poor thing. Rest assured that Lachlan won't remember or hold it against you. Almost every boy used to have it done, and very early with NO anaesthetic at all, and they are OK. Hope you and Lachlan, and your mum, are feeling better.
I think we will be getting a new fence sooner than we had planned. It was on our to do list, but it seems a bit more important than polished floors now. :D Just another thing for me to organise.
Jas, I hope you get a bit of a break from illness etc now, you certainly deserve it!
lol Mel, aren't I just! Mind you... you hit 3 months today :P Oh I called Andy earlier today cos my friend was here with her little boy and they were playing up one side of the house which is fine but I went to see what they were doing cos they were too quiet and there they were at the top of the stairs! There's a gap between stairs and house and Andy did put a gate at the bottom but I told him ages ago he also needed to put something on the side on the first few steps cos they can climb through from the side. Well.... I said ummm do you remember me saying about fixing the side of the stairs ages ago - he goes oh ummm vaguely. Me... well you better do it they were both just right up the top!! Oskar doesn't do it, but as they do follow the lead of others... he only does that crap then lol.
Sacha honey, no judging from here. My best friend had her little boy done and she ended up feeling the same way you are too. She said it was just awful. I hope though that you don't get any complications like they had, she had to take him back to get it fixed! :hug: don't blame yourself, you did something from info you had been given.
Hi all, Been missing lately - but have been busy trying to finish off a few things. Once again, I have overfilled my plate (bad habit I have - never seem to learn). I've been madly trying to finish off a research paper for a conference in a few weeks. Also been trying to organise everything for that trip, not trying to freak out about travelling with DS on that trip and one in Sept. And there's just a heap of stuff from work to deal with. Yes, I am on maternity leave, but we couldn't find anyone to take my place so one person there is doing half my job and I am working of other bits that are 'hard'. I don't mind doing the work, but I am finding that I really want to spend more time with DS (even if it's just to look at him!) and DH. I will hopefully get things sorted out and balanced out soon.
Jas - sorry to hear about that. 9 days! That's unreal. Hope everyone feels better and has recovered.
Ozzie - I know what you mean. I've been looking back at photos from the hospital and got a little sad. My DS is no longer so little anymore. But, it is exciting that he is looking around and interacting with us more these days.
Berrme - I thought Byron was a fantastically well behaved little boy yesterday. His tantrum didn't even register with me. Trust me, our neices and nephews can throw a tanty and Byron's was nowhere near their version of a tanty. I was actually saying to DH this morning that all the kids were really well behaved yesterday. I was so impressed as I'm used to so much drama, screaming and crying whenever we are with our neices and nephews!
Mustang - sorry to hear that it was such a bad experience for everyone :hug: I can't get over the doctor's behaviour. Hope everyone is feeling better at now.
Had to take DS to the dr today because of his eczema and projectile vomiting problems. She gave me a script for a steriod cream and said to use it only once a day until it clears. I'm a bit hesitant to use it. The MooGoo cream we use works, but the eczema never goes away for more than a day or two. Any advice on using the steriod cream?
We have to see the pediatrician to talk to him about DS's projectile vomiting. The force with which he spews really is something to behold (you can see the 3 different streams from his nostrils and his mouth). It doesn't seem to be affecting his weight though (he is now 6.1kgs!) but it really is quite disturbing. Not to mention the cleaning up is a pain in the butt (luckily DH does it all if he is home and does the washing of the perked-up-on stuff). When DS vomits, he doesn't seem to be worried by it. And he never cries when he eats. The dr thinks DS might have some medical thing (its name I can't remember because it is so long!) which is why we are going to the pediatrician. Has anyone come across anything like this before?
Ok, so apart from those things DS is actually doing really well. Sleeping and napping is going really, really well. He is eating well and is giggling all the time, which is so awesome! :D
Hi ladies. thanks so much for non-judgemental and supportive replies. i still feel bad though, but in my heart was just doing what was best for little lach star.
annachas - I'm taking lachlan to dr for his eczema tomorrow also as soooo bad no matter what i use. started moogoo the other day but it's started weeping. :( poor bubba. hope your little one clears up soon too. lachlan rubs his head on my shoulder and i think that's what may cause the weeping? it might go away or down for a day or two but then flare up with avengance.
we've also decided to complain to the medical board about the dr - just not good enough i think. i'm no doctor but he was a butcher and i'm still traumatised by it all - a week later so i just don't think that is a good sign.
Don't feel bad - you're making decisions for you and your family that you think is best.
Daniel rubs his head with his hands, his swaddling blankie (he wriggles around until he can get loose) and on my shirt/top/shoulder/boob - pretty much anything he can get his head onto!

Sacha- try not to feel bad, your intentions were good and we can't be responsile for bad doctors, i hope you do make that complaint. My XH was cirumcised and the doctor butchered him pretty badly but his mum didn't even care :rolleyes:
Mel- I think Poppy might be getting teeth too, she is constantly drooling and chewing on her hand.
Anna- try pure aloe vera (the flesh from the plant), add it to bath water, rub it onto skin, whatever is easiest for you, it has helped others with eczema. Also evening primrose oil is known to be effective. I asked my mum, she is a herbalist and natropath.
Ozzie- I feel a bit sad that Poppy isn't such a tiny baby anymore too. I haven't weighed her but she is in 00 suits now. But it helps me realise that I am not so horrible for planning on going back to work when she is 6 months old.
Jas- Hope your little man is fully recovered now.
Charisse, I used cortisone cream, which is a steroid, on Byron. It really doesn't take long for it to work and it was the only thing that got it completely under control. It isn't something that you want to use much of, but in my opinion it has got to be better than a baby with a scaly, itchy face/ body. Edward's skin isn't too bad at the moment so I am hoping that the stinky brown cream and moisturiser will do the job.
We had lots of vomiting with Byron, some projectile, but never enough for me to take him to the doctor. The midwives always said not to worry as he was still putting on weight and really didn't seem bothered. I hope Daniel doesn't have anything too serious!
You have made me feel much better about Byron's behaviour. He was really good for most of the morning, I just hate ending a visit with him yelling and carrying on. It is generally leaving that causes the tantrum too, which means I am often leaving places feeling like my son is the biggest pain in the world. :rolleyes: Sounds like the other boys there had their turns, just later on.:lol:
Em, if Poppy is getting teeth then I hope that they come through with no more than drooling and hand chewing. :D It must be pretty unpleasant for them, I don't think I agree with those 'experts' that say that teething doesn't bother babies.
6 months is OK to go back to work. Will that be full time? Will Poppy go into daycare? I went back part time when Byron was 11 months and I think it was really good for him. He was sick a lot though. :doh: I think it was hardest on me :D I missed him terribly.

I don't agree with the experts...think about how much it can hurt for adults to get wisdom teeth (i am still getting mine).
I will be working 4 days a week but will need to do full time hours (to pay bills and get access to work car) so both girls will have to be in daycare.

i agree; teething has to hurt them it's a tooth coming through skin .... and they've never felt pain before so it must be a bit distressing.
lachlan is 'over' his ordeal now ... but my MIL nor I are - and i'm lodging a formal complaint with the SA medical complaints. the woman i spoke to y-day was v nice and sounded shocked. she also mentioned that the Aust. Medical Board may get involved if they feel it wasn't good enough. Also, the idiot ppl at the surgery told me that it wasn't claimable thru medicare - or that it's cheaper to NOT go through medicare - what a pile of bollocks! IT IS! i phoned medicare y-day and the guy was miffed as to why they would say that. makes me think they're heaps dodgy now :( wish wish wish i'd looked into it better. but we live and learn and i'll drill him into the ground for hurting my lil man.
apart from that we're good - lachlan is out of his basinete now and in big boy cot, but his sleping SUCKS ... he's feeding more now than when he was a 7 week old. :( 3 feeds at night waaaah! i'm buggered!
his eczema is much better - had to go on some cortisone cream but use the tiniest amt twice a day and in between i lather him in moogoo. which i love. i bought some moogoo cosmetics for me - i love them. :)
my mum looked after lachlan one whole night while DP and i went to hyatt for a night (i won it) ... i was SURE 'this is it' he's going to get down on one knee..... but NO! oh well. i'd rather be happily unmarried that unhappily married eh? ;) he DID win $800 at the casino though - in 1 hour - not even! so we were up by the end of the night.
well better go do some housework -a gf is coming over for a playdate with her son who's 3 weeks older and ... the house is looking TRASHED :( need a magic wand!
My house is always trashed Sacha... if I try to put toys away, Byron decides he wants them again so pulls whatever I have put away plus extra out on the floor again. It is a losing battle. :wall:
I am sleep deprived for the first time since Edward was born. He has a cold and it is stopping him from sleeping properly. He still sleeps from about 8pm to 2am, but after that he wants to feed almost constantly until about 6am. He seems a little better today so hopefully we can get him back to 10 hour blocks soon. The worst part is that Byron is finally sleeping through again. If it isn't one, it is the other. :lol:
I have been talked into doing the Bridge to Brisbane run at the end of August so I am in training. I have been doing a group exercise things for about a month now and am feeling really good. I surprised myself though...I did 5km in 45 minutes when I started my run training on Sunday and was quite proud. I should be able to get a reasonable time over 10km in 6 weeks. :crossfingers:
Hi all! It's taken me a while but I've found you again! :p I managed to pick up swine flu and out of fear of Tamzyn picking it up I sent her to my parents place on tuesday and then when I went to hospital they told me I can't see her till wednesday morning... OMG a week with out my little princess.... it's killing me! :cry: As a single parent I've had her around 24/7 since she was conceived and now a week without her smile is the hardest thing I have ever done. I know it's for her best and she's happy there but I feel so guilty that I'm not breastfeeding her or giving her mummy cuddles and I missed her 3-month birthday :( Mum said she's started giggling and I can't wait to hear it. I have been very lucky otherwise, she's a great baby... who has managed to teach me her routine lol... she's definately a stubborn taurean! I've been expressing to try keep my milk from drying up but I'm scared it won't work. BFing is such a special time with her I don't think either of us are ready to give it up. But anyway I better go, I'll be back to visit you girls properly when I have a chance to catch up on all your posts. Take care, xoxo

I've heard that even if you STOP bf for several weeks and your milk stops that it's possible for you to bf again. I hope that you can keep doing so. it is totally special and am v envious of all that can do it. feel better soon!
not much happening here. besides totally messy house. :( oh well Dp will learn to deal. :) told him i'm concentrating on being a GOOD mum rather than GOOD housewife and he's ok with it. can do the one or two things done at once but never house is tidy... meh.
we're taking the dr who did circ'm to SA medical complaints. spoke to my dr and a midwife and it's totally not good enough. am glad it's not just me being an overprotective parent. 2.5 weeks later and i'm still traumatised - says something.
lach has started giggling a lil bit. DP totally devo'd hasn't heard it yet. he's hopefully going to get time off soon. so hard with one wage though.
have decided to get a 1 day a week job. have been feeling v depressed lately and isolated. but at same time don't want to goout and socialise. so mum and dad are going to get me a data entry job with a client hopefully so can have a 'break'. was always VERY career minded and not that i don't LOVE being a mum cos i do... i just feel a bit down sometimes and my self esteem is plummeting (i.e. rining DP 40 times a day and if he doesn't talk to me in a happy way am SURE he's going to break up with me because i'm a horrible mum and girlfriend.) which is not like me at all.

Shuairan, big :hug: to you. I hope you feel better. It would be VERY hard without bub around for sure. Your milk should be ok, just be aware that she might want to feed a bit more often to re-adjust your supply to her needs when you're back together.
Sacha, good on you. Have you spoken to someone about how you're feeling about the circumcision? Do you possibly have a bit of PND as well hun? On the job front, I hear ya! I think if I wasn't BFing that I'd look at a 1 day a week (prob weekend) job cos I'm craving the "me" time a little bit. I LOVE being at home with the boys BUT like today I was just so tired and I wanted to just cry and I just didn't want to HAVE to do what I have to do with them. Oskar had just gone down for a sleep, Elijah then needed feeding. I tried to nap after that but he wasn't going to let me, then Oskar woke up crying just as I got Elijah to sleep which woke him up. Settled Oskar again, but it only lasted until I got Elijah back to sleep so then he got woken up ....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggghhh and I only had 3 hours sleep with on off napping/dozing for a few hours after that last night, so I seriously was NOT in the mood lol.
My little man has started to giggle too...he is a little ticklish around his neck hehe. Sometimes he laughs at certain words, they must sound funny to him :dunno:. He is just so adorably cute he makes me go all gaga still. Oskar has been getting better most of the time when it comes to being a bit more gentle with Elijah, although he uses the excuse of "want to cuddle Elijah" when he's laying all over him....lol. He gives him kisses though and it's really cute. You have to watch him when he's over excited or tired cos he tends to get rough and over zealous with him which inevitably ends in tears from both of them. Other than that, they're both doing great :)

Haven't posted for awhile.. Had alot of things going on.. Both my boys have had a cold and Oliver is taking forever to get over it. Poor little fella. We are into pretty much a routine now so its alot easier with the 2 of them.
Oliver is having 150 mls formula every 3 - 4 hours and were in the feed play sleep thing now so its good. I had him weighed last week and he is 6670g and nearly fitting 00. Ive been buying clothes off ebay for him.. Really good quality for next to nothing. Ive also been selling some old clothes and made some money off things i never thought would even sell at a garage sale. Im in love with ebay atm. Oliver is full of smiles and really loves playing with his little toys in the bouncer and having some floor time with toys around him to look at. Samuel sometimes likes to shoot him in the head and all the weird boy things they do so i have to watch him now with Oliver.. He was on his playmat the other day and i was in the kitchen sterilising and Samuel comes in quite proudly and tells me oliver is in the bouncer now and i said "what do u mean he is on the floor" and he goes no i put him in the bouncer. so i glanced around the corner and here is Oliver quite content all buckled up in his bouncer which was about 2 meters away :o i freaked and gave samuel a speech about picking his brother up all he could answer with is that his muscles are strong from eating his veges so he wouldn't drop him.. uh no. so im watching him like a hawk..
I lost a very very close friend this week. He was 22 and a very awesome guy.. It has been all over the news and in the papers. He was an upcoming rugby league player and was king hit in the head and sustained brain damage and all that and died 2 days later.. so so sad.. We attended his funeral Friday and oh my gosh it just fully hit home. I just don't know how his mum is going to cope. I couldn't imagine losing one of my children. He touched the lives of everyone he met.. a real party boy and full of life. Its just such a tragedy.
Ive been off to the gym most nights and I've dropped close to 2 dress sizes in 2 months so I'm feeling really good. Makes a world of difference having some time to myself. I had a meeting with my manager about returning to work and i told her id maybe be ready to come back 2 or 3 full days a week in about 3 months. I went back quite early with Samuel so i want to savor my time with Oliver. I use to work 4 hours everyday in the morning, so i don't want to go back to my old hours. That would suck and i wont go back if they offer me that. My manager reckons that wont happen though so fingers crossed.

Hi girls, everything is good here. Still being woken up at night so am a bit more tired than the first few months. :lol: Edward is definitely getting teeth. I am pretty sure both the front bottom ones are coming through together, I can feel them just under the skin. I just wish they would cut through already!! Otherwise he is still being amazingly well behaved. He giggles all the time, he is an absolute pushover when it comes to getting smile and giggles. There really isn't anything quite as delightful as baby giggles. ;)
I have been really busy. I am really looking forward to Bridge to Brisbane being over and done with so I can stop doing so much running. I managed 7km in 56 minutes on Wednesday. :dance: I am pretty sure that I will manage 10 kms without dying. :lol: I have also been talked into playing out the remainder of the soccer season for my old team as there have been some injuries and they are short players. Between running, the group training sessions, soccer and chasing Byron around I am rarely stationary at the moment. I am back to a size 12 though, and feel pretty awesome, so I should stop complaining.
Lol, Cass, I think our households must be pretty similar. I am always having to protect Edward from Byron's 'cuddles'. He is generally good though, except when he is tired.

Try not to worry about your milk supply. I went away for a week and left Byron with my mum when he was 6 months old. I expressed 3 times a day while I was away. It felt like I had waaay less milk when I got back but he sorted it out very quickly. As long as there is still some milk there then you shouldn't have a problem bringing your supply back to what your little girl needs.
Amanda, :hug:. I have only ever had to attend one funeral, but I don't think there is a more depressing place to be. I can't imagine having to say goodbye to someone so young.
My mum called last night to tell me that a good friend of our family is in a critical condition in hospital. They think he has swine flu and it doesn't look like he is going to make it. He is only in his 40s. Life really isn't fair sometimes.
Edward is hungry so will have to leave you on that sad note, hope you are all well.
Hi all! Thanks for your advice. I got my lil miss back and she's going great. The breast feeding still needs a bit of work but we're getting there... unfortunatley we went to a 29 yr olds funeral on wednesday. He had muscular dystrophy but it didn't stop him living an amazing life. Its a sad fact of life that with new beautiful babies some of the good leave us and I send my thoughts to all those who are struggling with a loss. Has anyone had portraits of there newest addition done? I got some of bubs at 2 months old and even though they have cost me a fortune its so worth it. I would highly recommend it to any of you thinking about it coz they grow up sooo fast! Anyway I better run.... take care :)

What are everyones babies weights? My friends baby is a month younger and is half a kilo heavier than my Oliver. He is 6600 grams. Just had him weighed and he didnt put on any weight at all this week. actually lost 20g. And i have him the same clothes everytime. Our baby nurse quit like 4 weeks ago so i just weighed him myself at the pharmacy. He also still only has 150mls formula about 6 bottles a day.. Do you think his weight is ok?
Amanda, I have only been weighing Edward on our home scales but they say he is about 8kg. I wouldn't go by him though, he is a giant. Byron was too. I have a friend who's baby is 9 months and he only just weighs more than Edward. He is OK, just small.
I would say Oliver's weight is fine. According to the growth charts he is right on average weight for 3 1/2 months. I also wouldn't worry about losing 20g, especially if you have changed scales. I say stop weighing him so often... babies are strange, some weeks they grow lots, others not much at all. If he continues to not put on weight for an extended period then maybe get him checked. You will have his 4 month check soon anyway, you can ask then if you are still worried.
Shuairan, very happy that you and your little girl are together again! Hope feeding is back to normal again now.
I am going in to get pixifotos of my boys on Friday. I got given a voucher at the baby expo so I figured I might as well get some done. I just hope Byron will sit still for long enough to get some decent photos of him. :rolleyes:
Hi everyone! Been a bit busy so haven't had much time to get on here at all. Hopefully things settle down soon over this way!
Daniel is going great guns, but I think his teeth are coming through - I just wish that they would break through already! I can see their shape just below the gums and he woke up in the middle of the night for a couple of nights about a week or so ago and needed some comforting. We initially gave him Panadol for the pain, but I have since moved to Brauers Teething Relief and Hylands tablets as I wasn't comfortable giving him Panadol. It seems to do the trick.
Sleep-wise, we have been so, so happy - Daniel's been sleeping through until past 7am for about 3 weeks now (he goes to bed at 7.30 and then has a dreamfeed at 10.30).
The only issue we're having is with eating. We think that it is related to the teething, but aren't sure. Daniel usually has 180mls 6 times a day (7.00, 10.30, 1.30, 4.30, 7.00, 10.30) however since he started having teeth issues, he has only been eating about half for that for all his feeds bar the last 2 feeds. He just pokes out the bottle with his tongue, shakes his head from side to side, kicks and cries. I have no idea why - could it be that his gums are sore, or he's just full? I honestly don't know what to do. He is happy otherwise and I weighed him at home the other day and he is 6.6kgs, so his weight is not an issue. Has anyone had this problem at all? I was thinking of going to a 4-hour routine, but I don't think that he can stay awake long enough or do enough napping for a 4-hour feed routine. The other idea I had was to drop the dreamfeed, but I honestly don't know what to do! Any suggestions and advice would be so greatly appreciated!

Yes i think i might stop weighing him every week its doing my head in a bit.. Ill wait until his 4 month check to get him weighed again that way it'll give him time to put on or not. Edward is a big boy isn't he. Oliver is still in 000 clothes. I cant wait until he is in his 00's. We have some really cute outfits waiting for him.
Anna- It sounds like he may have to do another burp or something. That is exactly what Oliver has been doing with his feeds aswell. Like leaving a third of the bottle all day and then having full ones at night. Sometimes if he is whinging and seems finished but leaves a third i quickly reheat the last bit and he will then have it.. You can reheat a bottle once eg you make a feed, bubs doesnt want it, you can put it straight in the fridge then reheat ONCE to feed again.. I rang Karicare about something else and that's what they told me. So i reheat the end bit and he seems to take it after that no problem. That's all i can think of. HTH
Thanks - we thought it might be the burping thing too, but I don't think it is ... we're pretty neurotic kind of parents on some things and the burping thing is one of them (mainly because there was a time a while back when we didn't burp him enough and he either had pain or he vomited up his feed with his burp). Thanks anyway - we will keep an eye on it. Today wasn't too bad, but he's still a bit funny with his food during the day.:

Hi Ladies
My name is Bianca and my son Jacob was born April 25th by emergency c/s at 37 weeks. We had quite a journey conceiving him 2.5years and he truly is an IVF miracle. He weighed 2.8kg at birth and was 49cm long, we have had a lot of feeding issues and he still isnt a big feeder, only drinking about 80mls at a time 4-5 times a day but it changes every day. I have had a lot of medical problems so i couldnt breast feed so the poor little tyke is currently experiencing his second flu which makes me feel bad.
He only weighs 5.5 kg and is still in 0000 or 000 but growing slowly none the less. As for sleep well im a shift worker so he doesnt get to bed until around 12ish and wakes every 3-4 hours until about 11am.
He is very selective with his smiles but when he does it oh so gummy and cute. He does a lot of "talking/grunting" and loves to kick his soccer ball and hold his rattles plus he is a big AFL fan, can watch intently for up to half an hour.
Well ladies thats a bit about us I look forward to talking to you all as we watch our little miracles grow and change.

Welcome Bianca. Sounds like you have had a tough time. I hope you are past your medical problems, it makes it hard to enjoy being a mum when you are worried about your own health too. Try not to feel bad about Jacob having the flu... plenty of BF babies have had it too. :D
Charisse, if Daniel is getting teeth then he is quite possibly just being fussy because of that. Edward's feeds have been a bit erratic the last couple of weeks, but he seems happy enough. When Byron got his first teeth he was already having some solids so it was the solid food that he got fussy with. I worked out eventually that he would still eat anything as long as it was cold from the fridge. Cold porridge and cold mashed vegetables, yummy! :lol:
If you want to start spacing out his feeds more, you don't have to do it by a whole hour. Maybe see if he can go an extra 20 minutes each time to start with. It sounds to me like he was eating quite a lot before (being a BFer I really have no idea how much Edward gets each feed), maybe he is just having a lull in his growth and doesn't need so much food right now.
Cass, sent you a msg, hopefully it got to you. I would be stuffed if I lost my phone! Maybe I should write down all the numbers somewhere else just in case.
My face is moving a lot more than before. I can smile and look normal (as long as it isn't a really big smile). I finally feel like I will be normal again oneday. :lol:
Edward is still waking me up during the night but he is getting to around 4am now, so back to 8 hours solid sleep.
I can't believe we are almost at 4 months already! The second lot of vaccinations are only about a week away. Edward can get his third official weigh in since he was born... you really do get slack with the 2nd child. :p

Hi Bianca - my DS is one day younger than Jacob and was lighter than him as well. I think as long as he is gradually putting on weight try not to worry too much - some bubbas are just little people.
Master K is just delightful, laughing and giggling at everything - especially his big sister and is super ticklish under his chubby chin. He has stacked on over 3.5kg since birth!
We have been visiting the dermatologist as he has some dry skin issues we are tackling and the reflux has calmed down since starting zantac about 6 weeks ago. Tummy time is still not great though as he hates having pressure on his tummy as it forces everything back up. Yuck. Poor little thing.
I have a feeling he won't be moving a quickly as DD did either which is good. She crawled at 6 months and walked 1 week before 9 months old. AHHHHH
Seem to be really busy entertaining DD at the moment, busy mornings (only have one at home) and try to be home in the arvos. DD has just decided that she doesnt need a sleep now as resists the shut eye. I'm persisting and she has at least 1 hour of 'rest' and reading in her bedroom. She seems to sleep every second day at the moment, but the day's she doesnt - just crashes by 6pm. Sorry to prattle on about DD, but so relevant in my life of 2 kids at the moment.
Well - apart from the general daily baby and toddler routines, I'm not up to much else. It's so nice to be feeling well and happy and enjoying life though (can you tell I've been getting more sleep?) DS has been waking only twice a night for the last 2 weeks, about 1.30am and 4.30am. I've tried introducing dreamfeed at 10pm but because of his reflux it wakes him when he burps and defeats the purpose of the dreamfeed. So I go to bed at about 9pm and get a decent block of sleep before he wakes - yay!!!
Oh yeah - bring on spring too - the weather is wonderful!!!!!

It was around this time that we were all finding out we had a bub on the way! - How time flies.
Makes me want another already - DH would have a HUGE FIT if he heard me say that :lol:
Sorry I haven't been around much, I have been reading everyone's posts though, just never seen to be able to find time to write. I have Ollie sleeping on me at the moment so lets hope he lets me finish.
We had lots of feeding troubles which made things really hard early on, between the vasospasm and Ollie's posterior tongue tie I was so raw that it was too painful to feed him. Long story but finally all healed and this week - pain free!!! Woohoo!!!
I hope everyone and their bubbas are doing well!

Nell, It is good to hear that you are enjoying yourself now! Sleep makes a huge difference.
Byron is pretending he doesn't want a daytime sleep too. I think I am ok with it most days as it means bed before 7, but if we have done something exciting and he is worn out he just turns into a monster. :doh: He was officially 2 1/2 yesterday... I really wish we could just skip the next 6 months or so. :lol:
I made it through the 10km run in 1 hr and 15 minutes. I was happy with that as I had the pram with me (apparently it is good to train with the extra resistance). I am doing another one tomorrow so hopefully can get it a bit faster. I would love to be able to get under an hour, without the pram, for the real run, but our team has been entered into the under 85 minute group so I am fast enough already. The actual run is on the 30th of August, yes a fun run, a bit of a stupid name for a run though if you ask me. I have concluded that the people that run all the time and can do 10km in about 30 minutes are just wierd!
Edward is still drooling constantly and waking up during the night. He looks like he is trying to gnaw his fist off at times and he wants to be cuddled all the time. The hard bumps on his gums don't seem any closer to pushing through though so we could be putting up with this for a while yet.
Anyone got rolling babies yet? Byron was rolling by 3 months but I haven't given Edward nearly as much tummy time as it can be a bit dangerous with his brother around. I have started trying to give him at least a bit of floor time each day now. We have also been putting him in the jolly jumper... he loves it! He bounces around all by himself. It is so cute! ;)
Anyway, I have lots of washing to do so better get going.

Mel, Elijah has been waking up too, but the past 4/5 nights it's been really bad! Down to every hour last night and the previous nights average every 2 hours. I'm not sure what's keeping me awake - adrenalin or coffee ahaha. Doc checked him over after I called him to ask if it could've been from needles a wk ago but he's perfect the doc said and thinks it's a phase. Well, he better get over it quick smart lol. Andy found something which said that sometimes new milestones can throw them out of whack and he's really the past 2 wks discovered his hands and sucks his finger and chews them... cute but gross.
Hey Sarah!! Great to hear from you. Good to hear things sorting themselves out. It's all a learning curve isn't it. It's an interesting journey sometimes.
Nell, I have a friend who just found out she's due in April, made me feel all clucky UNTIL I remembered how bad I had m/s with Elijah!!
Mel, no rolling here!! He goes onto his left side a little but that's it. I don't really do "tummy" time as such. I do it across my lap or on me cos Oskar likes to lay on him lol. Cuddle him mummy, cuddle...lol.
Elijah got weighed and was 6.9kg on the doc's scales, but I kinda feel he's more than that!! I weighed him with me holding him on ours (I know not the most accurate way) and he was around 8kg. Will try to find some proper scales to do it on. He's about 67cm now too, so a bit longer than Oskar was at the same age however Oskar was 7.3kg... still like I said, I do think that the weight wasn't overly accurate at doc's. Even so, he's doing well as far as all that goes.

Gee Cass, being woken up every hour is a bit extreme! I agree with the milestones thing. 2 of the other mums at my execise thing said their boys (2nd children) slept through from really early and stopped for a while around 4 months. I hope he settles down again soon or you may go insane. :wall:
We had needles yesterday and Edward had the best sleep he has in a while. :lol: He was niggly in the evening but almost made it to 5am. I was very pleased.
6.9kg doesn't sound big enough based on Elijah's previous measurements. Edward is 7.9kg and 66cm. Everytime I look at him I think he is big and roly poly, but Byron was 8.3kg at 4 months... he must have been a massive budda! He doesn't look that fat in photos.:dunno:
We have been having some toilet success with Byron over the last week. He really doesn't want to get a nappy put on. Thankfully it has been warm enough to let him run around without one at home. We have had a couple of wees on the floor and a poo on the lawn, but mostly it has been in the toilet or potty. He is tall enough to stand in front of the toilet without a stool...just. It is so funny to watch him standing on his tiptoes directing the wees in. :p I can't wait to only have 1 child's worth of nappies to wash again!
Amanda, I have been using the baby beehinds magiucalls at night and they have been good, no leaks in the couple of weeks we have been doing it. They are a nice big cut so you can stuff lots in for the overnight shift. Would probably be a bit bulky for Byron during the day though as he has a fairly narrow crotch.
I managed to do an hour and 13 minutes for my run last weekend. I am going to be really pleased when this is over and I can stop worrying about how quickly/ how far I can jog. One of the other girls quoted 'pain is temporary, pride is forever' at me on monday. I have concluded I am not someone whose exercise related pride is important enough to me for that motto to work. :lol:

Just thought i would pop in with an update. Jacob was in hospital l last week with a fever, rash and he stopped feeding but he really perked up by the weekend for hubby's birthday with antibiotics and tamiflu. So we went down south as planned but by monday he had developed a cough, runny nose and was just plain miserable feeling bad for the other hotel guests we headed home today. Took him to the local Dr who said he was wheezing and had bronchiolitis but gave us nothing to help so went up to PMH who cleared him to go home.
I can't believe how big your boys are Jacob has only put on 105g in the last 10 days and is now 5.7kg Like a lot of you ladies im desperate for a decent sleep as he is waking every 1.5-2.5hrs atm but being sick all he wants is mummy and hugs and who am i to refuse. Well an early night here for us and i have to agree with the baby giggles....soo cute! Jacobs latest trick is picking up his rattle and smacking himself in the face its hard not to laugh plus he loves noises.

Mel, Oskar wants to run around as a "rudey boy" lol. He's actually doing quite well and I've left this up to him totally. He will wee but not poo in the toilet! He will also wee on the grass out the back :rolleyes: - I didn't want him doing that but what can you do when 3 other mums let their boys do it....arrrgh so I'm just letting it go for now and as he gets a little older I'll redirect to the toilet as he gets better with the whole TT. As for Elijah's weight... I forgot to weigh him the other day!! DOH! I'm going to Strathpine tomorrow so if I remember I'll see if the chemist there has scales. I'm not worried if his weight really is what the doc thinks it's just that I thought he really was more than that.
Bee, HUGE :hug: to you. It really sucks having a sick bub. Oskar had bronchiolitis when he was 5 months old. I can't remember if he had ab's or not. I had him sleep with me for about a week or so and propped up on a pillow so he was laying inclined which helped a lot with the coughing. I hope he gets better quickly. I'm also not surprised he hasn't put on too much weight lately - he's been quite off colour by the sounds of it.
Gee Bee, you and Jacob aren't having much luck. I hope he is feeling better. Thankfully we haven't needed to go to hospital for anything yet, but I know how awful it is when your little one isn't well. I am impressed that Jacob has put on weight even though he has been sick.
I often dream of having a normal sized baby, but my boys seem to want to be heavyweights.:lol: It does get a bit tiresome hearing 'gee, they are big boys aren't they? Is their dad big?'.

Well, I weighed little Mr Elijah man today on different scales and they say 7.3kg. So who really knows lol. Main thing really is he's growing, getting bigger and heavier so I'm not worried, just would be nice to have it correct for his book!! Woke up heaps last night too :( I'm wondering if he's going to go back to sleeping through or not! I hope this isn't the start of things to come as in a waking all night baby for months and months to come.
