Bel, my only problem with fixed rates is that it is usually a few 1/4%'s above the normal variable rate. So say 4 months ago the variable was 6% and the fixed was 7%, then until there's been 4 x 1/4% rises, you are still worse off. But at least you know what each month is gonna cost

Oh, what I also dislike is the usual no extra repayments/redraw on em... I have my pay go into my home loan, and I redraw what I want when I need it - the rest reduces the mortgage a little bit
