I crashed today!! After a few of you saying you're having a rough time it was my day today!! LOL! I wonder if there's the 3 month baby blues? LOL. I was up heaps last night with the boys and just felt so tired today. Luckily Michael came home early cos of the rain and I had a snooze! I so needed it! The kids are good although Dylan's been sicking up ALL day. Even 3 hours after his last feed?? I hope he sleeps ok tonight....
I've put a new photo in my ticker of the two of them in they're pj's!!
Danni - Hope you're feeling better! I have to clean up each night because the chances of getting it done the next day are very slim! LOL!
Melissa - Thanks! I don't think I need to do any more shopping at the moment! LOL! Good on you for making an appt at the dr. I hope Olivia gets her harness off soon. Wow - she's sleeping well - thats great!! She sounds gorgeous having her bath. I really must try Dylan on his tummy in there and just lying flat in the big bath so he can have a good kick. We just have him on the towelling thing at the moment....
Christy - Yeah on having a pj's day!! Glad you had a good weekend. Gosh - we'd love to head to Nz as well! I'm a skier but Michael snowboards - I've tried it but just can't get my balance right on it so I have a lot more fun skiing...We'll be less than an hour from Mt Buller when we move so the kids will grow up with a lot of it hopefully - they go up there for school excursions etc!
Yes - the kids do seem to be going through the same stuff. I hope they settle soon!
We've got one of those swings...I must try it again as I haven't had him in it for a while! It worked for dylan sometimes but othertimes there's nothing I can do!!
Krys - Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear about Iggys reflux. I think Dylan has that a bit as well! Hopefully it won't last too long! Wow what a big boy he is!!! Yeah on the great sleeps last week - at least you know he can do it!! I'm with you - 2 night sleeps wipe me out as well!
Big hugs - I hope you had a good arvo...I had that a lot with my family when I had Louis - they were always telling me he was hungry etc (when he was little chubby bum) and it can be really upsetting. You know your baby better than anyone and you'll know if he's cold or not...try not to let it get to you!
Hi Susan! Of course you can join in! Congrats on your little boy!! He shares Dylans bday!! Sorry to hear he doesn't like the car...Hopefully he'll grow out of it?? Your daughter sounds gorgeous - but exhausing - LOL!!!
Kaz - Awww thanks - I shouldn't be though - LOL! Glad you had power!! Did you get any snow?? It's absolutely freezing here at the moment. They said it snowed at Mt Dandenong as well! I don't blame you for not making it to the library! Hope you work out your budget!!
Kel - It is cold isn't it?? Wow at the layers! I had a night like that the other night where I just couldn't get warm! I can't turn out heater up or the kids get too hot though. I have it on 15 all night (ducted heating) and then it switches on to 18 at 7am and I usualy put t up to 20 manually! hehe.
Enjoy it while they stay in one spot!! It's only another 3-4 or 5 months and they'll be starting to crawl around!! Then we'll know it - LOL!
I woke up with headache today as well - nothing major but enough to take panadol..I never used to like taking panadol and like to give my body a try to get rid of them but with kids I can't risk it - LOL!
Caro - Sorry to hear you've lost your voice! I hope you're better soon! What a bugger you haven't been able to have a rest either....Ooh Have heaps of fun on Thursday!!
Now a question - are you guys still wrapping bubs?? I am and wrapped Louis until around 6 months, but Dylans really fighting to have his arms out...the only thing is usually he wakes up with them out cos he gets cold...he also likes chewing on his fingers and I figure it would be good if he can reach them if his dummy falls out through the night and he might not wake up...
We had a good day today, took Charlie to the Library...he almost made it through story time without falling asleep. We have been going for about 5wks now & as it starts @ 10.30am he's always ready for a sleep, it amazes me he can fall asleep with all the kids in the room & the people singing. I love it though & can't wait til he starts to get something out of it, oh yeah & I love the get together after for coffee!!!! Then I took him home, DH has one day off before starting work again so he looked after Charlie whilst I went out to lunch!!! yay, some Erin time. That's the first time in 12wks I've been out without Charlie - big step.
Kel it is very cold & I just can't get it right with Charlie, I either think he's too hot, then too cold - oh I just give up sometimes. Some nights I get it just right & he sleeps great. Though I much prefer it now, we only get 4months of cold in the year up here, in summer it is usually around 39 - 45!!! Yeah very hot, will have to join the gym then as there is no way I'll be walking around town anymore. Now would be a good time to shed some kilos so I don't have to stress too much about it.
Kristie, wow on Dylan sleeping all night. So far we get 9hrs out of Charlie, he's in bed by 7pm...so we are always up around 4am for a feed. If only I could just push him that little bit further. Though I can't complain, 9hrs is great - I just have to make sure I get to bed at a good time. It's all about timing these days. Yes I still wrap Charlie, he loves to wriggle free & you can hear him when he first goes to bed trying to escape - but I've found it wakes him, once he falls asleep he's fine & if he wakes early & is unwrapped, wrapping him back up puts him back to sleep instantly. He's too fidgety otherwies, once that settles down then I will use a sleeping bag, as he's forever kicking off the cover.
Christy we had a PJ day too just recently, aren't they the best!! especially when it's cold. Yeah we are out a lot, as everyone moves to these mining towns for work we are all away from family & close friends so we tend to all form close bonds and help each other out. Also since we are plonked in the middle of nowhere they have heaps of facilities here for kids etc, so there's something different to do most days....I love it.
Krysalyss, sorry to hear about your doctor - sometimes they can do more harm than good that's for sure. I'm sure you know your baby better than anyone else!!!
Melissa, I hope you get good news on the harness, fingers crossed for you.
Well Charlie held a toy for the first time today on his own, it was sooo cute & naturally he put it straight in his mouth. Isn't it amazing how much they change, each morning is something new - I love my little man soooo much. Well must go, DH is at footy training & I have a Christmas present for Charlie on ebay I must bid on. Hope you all have a good night.
Erin - I mean he sleeps all night from 7pm ish through to 7-8am ish but he still feeds in that time! LOL!! He usually goes between 6-8 hours without a feed....
Glad you had a great day!! How nice to get out of the house on your own!!
Well we had a good night finally!! Lily went down at 9.30 (not ideal, but hey....) then woke at 3.00, then at 7.20. Wooohoooo I fell asleep at 7.00 on the lounge for a while I was so tired. DH put Lily to sleep and let me have a hot bath with my first glass of wine for ages!! Yum, it was lovely.
A question for you all...Lily has a rash under her arm and no matter what I do it won't go away. It's really red and looks sore. Some days it looks raw. She doesn't complain about it though. I always make sure I dry really well under there and have tried putting powder and cream (at different times) and just leaving it to fix itself, but it won't go...what should I do?
DH is bathing her and dressing her now and I can hear him singing chilli peppers to her, LOL, so cute. She's got him wrapped around her finger already, hehehe. Not that I can talk... It's so nice to have a break from being solely responsible for her for a few days.
Caro, sorry to hear that you're feeling so yuck. It must be the stress of moving and everything. I get sick when stressed, and I lose my voice too! Hope you feel better soon.
Have fun at the fairies!
Kris, I hear you on needing a break. I did too DH's day off couldn't have come at a better time.
No I don't wrap Lily anymore. SHe was getting too agitated when I did it and always got her hands free anyway. She's quite content not being wrapped anymore. I do pull her blankets tight and tuck them in which she seems to like. She also strokes my chest while she's falling asleep. I slowly let her have one hand free for a few days then the other, then loosened her legs...
Erin, sounds like you are making a nice little family away from home for yourself. Thats great that there is such support for you.
Lily usually gets really hot too, but it's been so cold here (-3 and -2 degrees the past few nights!) lately that she's been waking up with little icecubes for hands! I put socks on them, but sometimes she's still a bit cold.
Hope you got your ebay toys for Charlie!!
Kel - Glad you had a great night!! Not sure about the rash...it cold be eczema but I wouldn't think it would be in one spot only...I would keep up with the powder - maybe it's a chaffing thing...othewise head off to the dr! Have you tried nappy cream??
I had a shocker - Dylan spent most of the night in bed with me! He only fed once but was super unsettled...grrrr. I'm having trouble getting to sleep as well so I'm probably lucky to have had about 5 -6 hours of broken sleep! I don't think a nap through the day works for me as I end up wide awake at night time! How annoying - I used to be able to sleep for hours and hours!!!
Thanks for that...I may start unwrapping him soon...I tried for a bit yesterday but he just kept hitting himself in the head - LOL!
Hey Kel have you tried Paw Paw ointment on it? That seems to work really well for Charlie & lots of people swear by it. Charlie had a rash under his chin from something rubbing & it was gone over night with the ointment, also great for his red dry cheeks, which I think my be eczema - though I've got my fingers crossed it doesn't get too bad I had it terrible as a child, spending countless days in hospital hope he doesn't get it.
Had fun shopping - the boys were really good!! I bought Dylan his first water bottle!! Not that he needs it yet but it's from 3 months...I used it for Louis as well at the same age. Will definitely start him on it as soon as he starts solids...
Erin - Thats were Dylan has his eczema...poor little thing. I hope it doesn't get too bad either...maybe go to the dr - I have been prescribed "elocon" cream but haven't used it yet but it's for eczema...I've been managing Dylans with sorbolene!
Hi, just a quick one with Olivia in my arms! Does anyone know if baby can get their first teeth as the 'fang' teeth up top? She has 2 hard lumps there and has been a bit off. Would appreciate words of wisdom!!!!
cheers
melissa
i guess anything is possible melissa? I think mason is starting to teeth too. He is very dribbly all of a sudden and constant red cheeks.
Hope everyone is having a good day. I am stuck in bed with a blocked duct or mastitis it seems. my head is pounding and my back is killing me. thank goodness mason has been asleep for 3 hours. bless him
I would think it's a bit early for teeth but you just never know!! LOL! I wen through a stage where I thought Louis was teething and then he didn't get his first tooth until 12 1/2 months old!! LOL! In saying that though I think teeth can move around giving them a bit of discomfort even when they're not ready to break though yet...
Danni - Sorry to hear your not well - jump in the shower and try and massage the lump out...also rub on it when Masons feeding and you should get rid of it. Feed twice on the side you've got as well!
Went to the target sale and did some more shopping. Also took Louis to Gymbaroo which he had a ball with...little cheeky won't got to sleep now though...
Danni- hope you're feeling better. I had a blocked duct a while back and did what Kristie advised, even though it really hurt to do it.
Melissa- I'm not sure about teeth really, but it does seem early. Hazel dribbles a lot and has rosy cheeks but I think that's her being warm and the weather being cold, at least I hope that's all it is.
Kris- sounds like you've been a busy girl! Well done on getting back to the gym, it's hard to feel motivated to get there some days but you always feel so good when you do!
Kellie- LOL at your comments about the English weather- I think it's a bit warmer here in Brissy than further south! I wouldn't have lasted 7 years over there if it was FREEZING in the summer. Yay on your brilliant nights' sleep!
Caro- I do hope you've recovered your voice!
Kaz- Boo to budgets! We can never manage to stick to them....probably should learn to one of these days.
Erin- Hazel has also discovered how to hold a toy in the last couple of days, and how to bash herself in the head with it. She also figured out how to whack the toys on her baby gym and has gone into 00 sleep suits in the last two days! It's just crazy how quickly they grow and change isn't it the little treasures.
Well, had a mad morning, had a house inspection (grrrrr to renting!) and then a visit from Mum and my Grandparents for lunch. At least I had a spotless house and it was good to have a proper clean, the sort you only do when absolutely necessary. I then spent a blissful two hours in the sun in the front garden with Hazel dozing and feeding in her sling, a nice coffee and a good book. Love it! We've got another parent info talk at the Health Clinic tomorrow, this time on sleeping and settling. As I think I said before I will take it all with a grain of salt if they push controlled crying or anything. I jsut got Pinky's book 'Sleeping Like A Baby', I love that woman, and it makes me feel so happy and confident with the gentle way I am parenting Hazel. I've got a job interview next week, looking after a 5 year old girl a few afternoons a week. They actually see Hazel as a bonus as apparently the little girl loves babies! The Mumsounded great and we ended up chatting for nearly an hour on the phone last night, seems like we have a similar attitude towards parenting and life in general. It sound pretty promising and would be a nice way to ease myself back into it, with the option of finding another job to fill up my week as Hazel gets bigger and is less full on. Fingers crossed.
Big hugs for all you fantastic mothers and your amazing, miraculous, beautiful bubbas X
Well we saw snow, will put some photos up in the blog later. Just turning on the heater up here to come up later. We walk our dog @ Olinda and it had a light dusting, although the Golf Course was packed with snow, kids and dogs! Yesterday we lost power though, a bit unsettling when using bottles. Grrr. Oh well.
Kris, we tried the nappy cream and it does seem to have worked, thank goodness it was getting pretty bad. Too bad about Dylans excema, I'm lucky, Lily seems not to have sensitive skin.
It's probably a good idea to try to get Dylan used to the bottle now if you plan to give him some water in it for summer....maybe he won't need one though, maybe he could just have a sippy cup by then?...
I'm going to the target sale tomorrow too. I'll get chrissy pressies for all of the kids at least...
Erin, we used to use the paw paw ointment at work for the bubs and it is great for everything! I don't have any though... I used some zinc and castor oil cream on it and it seems to have done the trick. Your excema must have been pretty bad to end up in hossy for it? Ouch.
Melissa, I know that bubs can teeth at this age, I have seen quite a few start this early, but I don't really know if they get their fangs this early? It's usually the top or bottom front teeth. Maybe call and ask your MCHN.
Danii, sorry to hear your sick. I had mastitis earlier on too and it's horrible. Take the other girls advice and massage, massage, massage.... and feed lots- as much as he'll take the boob, it really works even though it really hurts and rest, don't get out of bed unless you really have to, a good excuse for a pj day. Hope you feel better soon.
Christy, sounds like you had a lovely morning in the sun. I have had a lazy home day. Just, bf feeding and resting. Lily has slept....well like a baby, hehehe!! She has slept on me all morninga, while I watched dodgy morning tv and is now sleeping with DH on the lounge. At least she's getting a good sleep today, unlike other days when I'm busy, she just will not sleep long in her cradle in the day time...little monkey.
I was thinking how this will be the only time I will ever get to enjoy my bub like this, be able to take the time to gaze at her lovingly and wonder at her gorgeousness. I must take advantage and not think how bored I am at times!
Good luck with your job interview, it sounds like a great opportunity. 5yrs is a great age for you with a bub, she will be able to help you with Hazel!
Well we had a good night again, she seems to be back to her usual one wake up a night, we're back on track, yaaayyy! I have done absolutely nothing all day today, sooo lazy! I have so much to do but just couldn't be bothered. AF turned up yesterday and my back is killing me and I feel so tired.,. I've had a slight headache for a few days too. Yuck, I really didn't miss this! Actually, I have a question, how was your first AF? Mine is really heavy and gross. Is that normal?
Ok gotta go and arrange something for dinner...but what to have????
We went out this morning, but Charlie's been a bit off all day. He's only drunk about 100ml all day!!!! not sure what's going on there?? I won an inflatable Fire Truck that can be a paddling pool or ball pit on ebay for Charlie's Chrissy present. Very excited about that, he gets an inside & outside present from us. That's all will be very spoilt by grandparents etc... Yay on the Target sale, I head there next week when I'm in Perth - YAY. Have chrissy presents for Nice, Godson etc to buy. Will also pick up some small things for all the Birthday parties we seem to be getting invited to.
Danni, still in your PJ's - that's great, but not that you're unwell. I agree, time in the shower is great for a blocked duct. I spent all day in the shower when I had severe mastitis.
Melissa when I went along to our 6wk Mum's group with the CHN after Charlie was born & we had a session on solids etc & she conf that some babies my teeth as early as 4months, so yes it is possible. Amazing isn't it, you get to the 12wk mark when you think things may settle & then something else pops up. Ahhhhhh.
Kris, glad the nappy cream worked. Yeah I had sever eczema & do pray Charlie doesn't get it. I use all soap free stuff. I only found out about the Paw Paw Ointment when I had Charlie, some people use it all the time for lots of things, wish I'd known about it earlier.
Glad to hear some of you are having great nights. DH got up to Charlie last night @ 12 & was meant to just re-wrap him gently & leave the room. This works most nights, but he was too rough & woke him instead!!! so then we were up & down. Men!!! tonight I think I'll deal with it LOL.
My first AF was just a couple weeks ago & it was actually pretty good, not as bad as before being pregnant & I was dreading it as I've read the first after a baby is always heavy.
Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep, don't think I will I have a very grump Charlie on my hands who just woke up!!
Christy - Wow the job sounds great!!! Sounds like you had a beautiful arvo - good for you!! Hope the talk goes well tomorrow!
Kaz - brrrr - Hope you're coping ok in the cold!! Saw a photo from Sassafras and it was covered in snow - very bizarre!!
Kel - Yeah - he'll go straight to a sippy cup - he already won't take bottles of milk so I won't even bother...Glad the nappy cream worked...I'm going to give the QV products a go as I've had quite a few recommendations...Yeah there's some good bargains at the target sale!
Umm well as I wrote my af was barely anything...1 day light 1 day slightly heavier and then gone!!! So I'm not sure if it's proper af or just some breakthrough bleeding from the mini pill...Sorry to hear you're not feeling to great - best to rest up and do nothing!!!
Erin - Yeah on getting the ball pit/paddle pool!! Thats great! Hope you end up having a good night...mine have been shockers lately with Dylan spending most nights in bed cuddling his Mummy...LOL...
Trying out a new Mothers' Group today, hopefully it will be good.
I LOVE the paw paw ointment, its one of the few things I trust. I had a pimple on the corner of my mouth that would crack every time I talked, smiled or ate - the cream fixed it good.
No AF yet, I'm waiting for it to get an IUD. And I'm not b/f so not sure what's happening there?
I want a ball pit!!!! And good luck there Christie (in retrospect)!
