A friend looked after our two for 2 hours so we could have anniversary dinner last night and Greer slept from 8.30ish to 2.20am - although I didn't get the 6 hours sleep it was great to know that she slept for 6 hours and then she woke at just before 6am.
I'm getting ready to make the cot transition shortly, more so that Greer learns that is where she sleeps as opposed to daytime bassinet night time in the double bed with me in the nursery - laziness is the main reason for not having done it sooner. By having her in bed with me feeding interuptions are quicker and less need for me to fully wake.
She has just awoken so got to go.

Hey Everyone! Been a few days since I came in. Well Ava-Jayde has a middle ear infection at the moment which sucks cause she's so sad and sooky absolutely breaks my heart. Thursday afternoon I knew something was wrong with her she was so clingy and just wouldn't sleep even after having both boobs and 2 bottles she just cried and cried. So I take her to the doctor and the receptionist behind the counter who was no older than 17 tells me there's nothing wrong with her and to just take her home and give her panadol. I tell her that her temperature is up a little bit more than it usually is and that there is definately something wrong with her. SO she rolls her eyes at me and says "fine i'll get the nurse to check her". So then the nurse comes along, takes her temperature and says "oh it's only 37.3 she's happy just take her home, she'll be fine" it took me ages to CONVINCE them to let me see a doctor!! Then I finally get in to see the doctor and what do you know mum was right, she has a middle ear infection! Idiots.. Then the doctor is so completely rude to dp saying "give the child to her mother SHE knows how to hold her" bah! anyhoo that's my rant

BabyWrangler Oliver has been in his own room since we came home, just not in his cot, I knew he wouldn't spend much time in his bassinette, but just feel that when they first come home it is less of a shock if they are in a nice small space for sleeping. It would be a damn shame if it was your milk that was mucking BJ around, hope you can get into the Paediatrician nice and quickly. Has he been tested to see if he has a UTI?
alittlegrubi I think when you first come home the easy options are always the best options.
kirsty_lee a mother always knows best. I can't believe that you had a problem getting in to see Dr, I mean, isn't it YOUR choice/decision to do so, and I think it is none of the receptionists business as to what you want to see the Dr for either, as for the Dr, all I can say is "RUDE"

Had a nice day today up at the FIL (1.5 hour drive) Oliver behaved himself superbly all day. I am off to see 'Sex and the City' tomorrow, and i'm excited.

nah he hasn't been tested for much at this stage...though I did take a pooey nappy to the Dr on friday as it was (excuse the TMI) the consistancy of snot...it was very mucousy...
Dr took a sample and sent it off, but can't get the results til tuesday (damned public holiday!).
Hey Sharon does Zantac make Ollie spew? BJ has it 3 times a day, and every single time he has it, that feed, all comes up and we start again....he chucks a little bit with all feed, little bits, but when he has the Zantac..its massive...he'd had about 80ml of formula before (after the zantac) and the projectile that came up would have been at least 70ml of it (and it really upset him, whereas normal spews just kinda dribble out!).

Kirsty_lee I would be on the look out for a new DR!

Mine is great, and lovely also 17 looking receptionsit. They have fit me in twice when i have needed to see urgently, once for mastitis, and last week when he had a cold...just before they closed on a saturday morning!! and my dr usually takes about 1week to get an appointment as he is so good! and even though they squished us in DH was very impressed at how thourgh he was, not rushing at all

BabyWrangler that poohey nappie that you took to dr's the other day sounds like it could be lactose intollerance (maybe). As for the spewing after Zantac, no and he is now on 1ml 3 times a day as well, Oliver's reflux was more of the silent reflux, where he only brings up small amounts and then it goes back down, and he was doing a lot of gulping/gasping for air when this happened. Projectile vomiting can be stressful for little babies (and mums and dads too) really hope that you can get some answers tomorrow.
Taurusa it's great when you find a good GP I have been seeing mine for over 20 years and he is now starting to go into semi-retirement which is a real PITA because now I have to find another great GP which is really hard these days.

Off to have my shower and start getting ready for my afternoon out, i'm excited, but don't want to leave my Ollie, even though he's with DH, it's the fact that i'm not there for him.

Have a great public holiday for all those lucky to have one.

Aaahh ok...Im here with more than 2 minutes to spare!
Whilst he's still not right, he's much improved.
We have switched BJ over to formula, and dropped his Zantac to 0.5ml (instead of 1ml) 3 times a day.
He is settling alot faster (and usually by himself with needing to be held or patted), sleeping much better (2X4 hour stints last night...I don't know myself this morning!).
He is still a little grunty and thrashy...and will definately be still paedying this week for sure, but he's much improved...chances are it was the drop in Zantac, but we are likely going to stick to formula now as we don't really want to put him through the pain of going backwards if we go back to breastfeeding and it turns out that was the problem NOT the Zantac.
Now that all made sense in my head, just not sure if it will to you guys, if not, sorry...its been a LONG weekend.

Kirsty_lee: I HATE people that think they know our kids better than us, the Dr I first went to about BJ's reflux was the same as the nurse you saw...I will NEVER see him again, he works in the clinic we go to, but I always request anyone but him now! Our clinic is good at squishing people in too...and if I say Im calling for an appointment for BJ they actually say "Do you need to just be fitted in now, or can you wait for the next available appointment" which I think is great, they even did it back when I was preganat and had severe gastro, I rang and said I needed to see someone for first available appt as Im 28 weeks and think I have gastro, they said "come straight down" I walked in the door and they said "Dr Courts patient just finished, go right in" They are great!
Grubi:Im glad you enjoyed your time out....We had a great time for DH's birthday last week when my boss babysat, even though I wished I could be in 2 places at once!
Sharon:I agree about the nice enclosed space, but in the end, BJ was wrapped (as I think Ollie is?) and then with the anti roll pillow, and the bed being short sheeted (I HATE putting them all the way down the end of the cot!) he was pretty enclosed anyway.
How much formula does Ollie take in each feed, and how far apart? Just trying to see what Bj's doing in comparison!

ShoegalDon't stress too much about the percentages (but it's kinda nice to know where they fit!), BJ is in the bottom 3 a fair bit, occasionally the bottom 25...what can I say, he's a pipsqueak! But the MCHN is always pleased with his progress so I'm happy! Baxter is a little cutie though!

Hi All,
Just a quick update (again).
BJ DID A POO AND DIDN'T SCREAM!
It was a run of the mill pastey formula poo and he just did grunted and did it, it was huge too, filled a nappy, then kept going when I was changing him so we applied a "catcher" and he filled that too!
He then had awake time for about an hour before a 20 minute doze in the car, then played with DH's stepdad for about an hour (smiling and talking!), then had 100ml of formula, burped and went to bed settling himself with only 2 dummy returns.
We have all but officially decided he is now a formula bub...we were using the s26 sachets (which I bought for hospital in case my milk didnt come in), a bit was coming back up though, so I popped out before and bought a tin of the s26 AR for infants with reflux and we'll see how that goes.
We will definately still be going to the Paed asap, but I'm happy the BJ seems to be improved.
Chances are its the reduction in Zantac, but I don't wanna risk anything!

Whew, the past two weeks has been really full-on. Just as they'd started to settle, Lila got her immunizations and the shock to her system made her teeny little cold pretty bad for a few days. When she was sick she didn't have much of an appetite so my supply went down (silly of me not to keep up) and is just now getting back to where it was. Good news is that I've gotten up in the middle of the night with her once this whole week, she's sleeping 6-12 hours a night now. No sleeping during the day, just dozing in her sling but wakes up should I put her down.

Making lots of cooing noises, very smiley all the time and responsive. She likes to play by herself for 10 minutes or so at a time. Been giving her tastes of things I'm eating, just little dabs here and there. She likes to suckle apple wedges especially. We've gone to cloth nappies, I'm using plain towelling and woolen wraps I made when I was pregnant. Wow, wow, I'm blown away by how well the little wool Tickle Turtle wraps work. Seriously amazed, she's dry on the outside even after 12 hours sleeps. Cloth nappies are easier than I thought, I just throw in a load of them every other morning and we're sweet.

Am changing my dr after the way they treated me when I had her 2 month shots done... The Dr made fun of her cloth nappies ("Oh my, did YOU make this? Hah, I didn't know people still used cloth...") and so did the nurse giving her the shot. Then the nurse gave me an awful look when I pulled out some EBM to calm Lila and made a snarky comment about how my baby hadn't gained enough weight for a FF baby. Excuse me... But the kicker was when she asked me about sleep. I told her and she was aghast, telling me that she HAS to sleep at least twice during the day (where do these random numbers come from?), that her brain won't develop properly blah blah and here's the kicker- When I told her all the things I'd tried to get her to nap, she told me to put her in her cot and let her scream herself to sleep. WTF? Sorry, I just can't do that.. I mean, if nothing else its horribly impolite- the only way Lila can communicate with me is through crying (which she does very little of anyway) so why should I just ignore my little girl when she's calling for me? She's so little still, maybe when she's older and having a temper I'll leave her but not now...

Been expressing her milk for the past 6 weeks or so since she had thrush but I think its cleared up now so have been putting her back to breast. Amazingly, we're having very little drama with it so far. She doesn't attach as strongly as she used to, but she does attach well and stay on for 10-20 minutes. Then I top her off with a bottle of EBM, maybe soon it'll be just breast. Here's hoping.

Sorry for no personals, I'll finish reading through and get on that. I just wanted to start getting back into the threads... Hope you're all well and your babies are thriving.

(Janine, I'm also counting down to 12 weeks, MIL has been telling me to savor it all but I say phooey I want a routine and some regularity to life. And I'm looking forward to putting her on my back, too..)
