On the issue of dressing babies warm, I have always dressed Oliver (and my other boys) similar to me, so if i'm cold and need a few extra layers, then I know he will too, and vice versa for the summer time, however if it is windy outside he will always have a blanket. Oliver doesn't get his breath taken away when wind blows in his face, in fact when I blow onto his face he smiles big gummy smiles.
Oliver has taken to waking up at around 5am-5.30am every morning, not because he is hungy, but because he's had enough sleep because as soon as I go into his room he gives me big smiles and he doesn't usually have his bottle until he's been up about 1/2 an hour, now I really wouldn't mind this too much if he was to go back to sleep for another 2-3 hours but he doesn't, he only goes back to sleep for an hour then he's awake again and all he does for the rest of the day is catnap, it's driving me insane!
Sorry for no personals have to go and give Oliver his 'sneaky feed'
Meg, how do you get Isabelle to sleep without the tears? We've cut ours in half but some days he still wants to cry before he sleeps.
Ci still startles at the wind, being on his back, pretty much all the newborn stuff. He's a startlepuss, big time. I thought DD was sensitive, I think she's been beaten by this one.
Good to know soft boobs are ok. I figure it's my supply evening out. Weird though. When I can't remember which boob was last (which is most of the time) I can't cop a feel now and figure it out! I'll have to take to using pins or those tag things that help you keep track. But it's no use when I'm not using a bra. I'm putting him on more often anyway so both sides are pretty even most of the time. I don't wake engorged though cos he really drains 'em overnight. The morning is my most lean time, with supply building towards evening.
Hi Zennie,
Try fess little noses (we actually use the normal stuff which just doesn't come with the bulb thinger to suck out the boogers).
As for us...well...little scoffa over here...270ml between 6:15 and 7:45 last night, slept through from 8pm til 2:50am, then had another 220ml, slept through til 7:00am, had a mere 80ml and was back in bed at 8:00! He's gonna wake up hungry!!!
we seem to be back on track sleep wise too with him, worked out that 2 dummy returns means "Mum, this fake thing ain't doing it for me....feed me Seymor"...give him a bit of bottle and we are all good!
Usually getting between 1 and 3 hours in the morning...big wakey time from about 11am til 2pm, then back down for between 3 and 4 hours, then up for an hour to an hour and a half, then down for the night (with one half hour feed session)...Im happy with that!!!
I promise to try and get to personals today! But right now I'm off to clean the bathrooms, unstack the dishwasher, re-stack the dishwasher, make the days bottles, fold and iron some washing...and pull the wings off BJ's second dragon toy!!

Nettie- I would assume the apple butter keeps for a good long time in the fridge, but it didn't last long around here cause its so tasty...
About warmly dressing- I usually have Lila in a singlet, a long sleeved shirt/nightgown, and a blanket wrapped up with her arms out. At night she has more blankets on her, when we go out I put on an extra sweater or jacket and blankets. She seems ok.
Whew just finished my first full-strength post-baby workout. I'm ok with how my body looks, but I'm a bit sluggish and hate the backpain and my little tummy-love handle wobblies. My God I feel good. Pregnancy yoga for half an hour and ten minutes of calisthenics. I'll build up to doing more. Just can't get over how good I feel. Lila laid on the rug next to my yoga mat and talked to me the whole time...
I keep getting AF's all over the place. I had one light spotting one, then two weeks later a week-long downpour, then two weeks after that more spotting. Is that normal? I'm on the mini-pill...
Lila's still sleeping well, everything is peachy. My breasts are sooo swollen when we get up in the morning, its all she can do to drain one so I've been expressing the other one and freezing it. I guess I'll get a good milk bank built one morning at a time. Interesting how you say you're fuller at night, Janine, I find I'm exactly the opposite. Really full to bursting in the morning and it evens out during the day as she feeds pretty steadily...
Supposed to rain here the next couple of days, its already chilly and overcast. I have a huge load of nappies, looks like they'll be drying indoors. Hate doing that. Going down the coast this weekend to the IL's farm. I used to love going before baby, and now I do even more because someone else does the cooking and the washing up and Lila's always got an adoring grandparent to cuddle her while I do something else.
When do I expect rolling over and crawling? We've had a few half-attempts at rolling over but nothing conclusive. She can hold her head up mostly all by herself, I think we'll be getting a high chair soon. She gets ****y in the sling after a while but loves sitting up in Daddy's arms watching me in the kitchen... Thinking too of getting the Mei Tai, anyone have this one? I have a Bubba Moe sling that she used to love but is getting too big for me to put her in the old way so I need to work out a new way. The Mei Tai seems like it'd be easier on my shoulders and back...
Bella: I have an ergo and it wonderful on my back and shoulders. I don't feel any pulling. It great cos we can have cuddle with nothing in way. And Wyatt just love it, alseep in it within minutes, and sleep for 1-2 hrs which is great if you want to chesk over the movies or go shopping.
Just thought I would let you know we too had a bad night. Well not bad bad, but not his usual. Wyatt went to be at 8pm woke up at 1am for boobie, and then at 4 for more boobie, and tried to stay awake. But mummy just put him back in his bed, and told daddy to snore louder.(only time) He went off to sleep within 5 minutes.
During the day he hasn't be doing the normal,
wake at 6am
back to bed at 8-8:30
10-11am wake up
then back to bed at either 12-1 for another 2 hours sleep. However our days have been very busy of last so I think I will be staying home a little more if possible.
well better go, that is the little bugger away now, only have an hours nap in his bed.
Oliver had his paed appt today, paed is happy for us to start weening off Zantac in another month, and then after a few weeks being off the zantac if he is still good we can switch back to normal formula. He was also a very cheeky boy and peed on the paediatrician
Is any of the other bubs in here fussing with their bottle/boobie, I that with Oliver once the initial hunger has been catered for all he wants to do is sit up and play/look around I will then burp him, try to give him more bottle, when he starts to fuss again we will stop feeding for 10 mins, then I will re-heat his bottle and he then tends to finish it.
Zennie Ollie has started to wake earlier in the morning, and is usually restless for about an hour before, these 5am starts are very draining as he then won't sleep for longer than an hour during the day so I can't even have a nap. I agree with BW about Fess, although I did get the one for 'little noses' so that I could suction out the mucous from his nose once it was nice and loose. BabyWrangler WOW BJ is a big eater, you would think that Oliver would be too since he is a big boy, but he only has around 150-170ml per feed, 5 times a day. sarah I think I am going to try and stay home a few days next week and see if I can't get this little bugger sleeping more through the day.
Sharon - YES! Liam has an initial feed, then plays a game of 'get daddy to chase the mouth' for the last half of the feed. But lucky you getting 150 mls into him! Liam's lucky if he has 100 mls in a feed (usually more like 70) and he feeds every 2.5 - 3 hrly... wish I could get him to eat more and have longer between feeds as we don't get much done in between (including sleeps & playtime). Luckily he gives us a break at night where he'll have a big feed (the 100 mls one) and sleep for 5-6 hours. Not guaranteed though! BW - I can't imagine getting that much feed into them! Phew! Imagine the poo!!! Liam has enough with his small feeds!
We've ordered the NCSS book and I just bought 'Raising Boys' to read. I've found it good to read a book while I'm getting Liam to sleep in my arms...
Sharon,
BJ is exactly the same with his bottles....we came to the conclusion that he has a little tummy that fills up fast but empties just as fast!
He'll scoff his bottle for the initial 5-10, then when he starts "Gacking" (the lovely noise he says when he wants the bottle removed!) we burp him, then much like Liam, its chase the mouth (or trap the head between peck and upper arm) for a bit...then stop for 10 minutes or so, then scream cause "why did you stop feeding me I wasn't actually done ya know" then he finishes it!
Oh yeah and I was up at 4:00-5:30 cause Benjamin thought that was a good time to be smiley, awake and cute

It was so nice to sleep through the rain last night. Any other GCoasters or Brisbanites? A few more pox appeared on his scalp and I didn't know but one had burst on his head and I kissed his head this morning and got it on my lip. THE most contagious part of the pox. I certainly hope my immunity holds up to that! I can NOT go down with adult pox right now thanks.
Re milk consumption, I have no idea how much His Royal Poopy Britches has but I know an engorged breast is a massive dose of milk, over 200 mls easy, and he has pounded that several times without complaint. He probably has a big appetite cos I think he is currently in the lead for weight gain at almost 8 kilos .
I'm finishing my bachelor of science (ND) and seriously contemplating moving the degree to a medical degree and becoming an ND MD. It will take another five years from where I'm at now at least, but I'm excited at the thought. It's either that or becoming a pilot, which I've wanted to do for ages. I'm in career planning mode these days, so I'll be off and running in four years when Ci will take to day care happily. Well, that's when DD took to it happily. I don't mind waiting that long for day care, I kinda enjoy this moment of Housewifery and Domestic Goddessery... I'm perfecting my cookies (I bake a MEAN choc chip cookie) and casseroles. Which reminds me, anyone have a casserole recipe they think is worth sharing? I don't like beef so much.
Ci is blissful in the HaB at the mo, I might finish my assignment while I have all this motivation to actually do it.
[QUOTE=Fire;1320013]Meg, how do you get Isabelle to sleep without the tears? We've cut ours in half but some days he still wants to cry before he sleeps.QUOTE]
Yes Meg do tell how you are doing it.
Belle - good work on the workout - I'm too lazy, but am also happy with my body - finally - still have 3.5 kilos to get to preprego weight and yeah the love handle- tummy wobble is all that I want to go - would walk it off if it would stop raining. I think they start to roll around the 3 months - which can be anywhere from 10 weeks on wards.
Nettie/Fire - showing my ignorance - what is the NCSS book?
Fire - on the career moves. Wish I could find the patience again to complete some studies, but with 2 kids - I say forget it. So I take my hat off to you.
Sharon - you are sounding better - hopefully things are better.
Sarah - they say staying home is the best way to get the sleep routine happening.
Our sleep routine is improving We are now having at least 2 daytime sleeps in the cot, even if one of those is only for 30-45minutes and we have graduated from the 7.30pm to 10.30pm cot sleep to that one and the next one at around 1.30am or 2am - then I'm still too lazy to put her back in the cot. Most likely because I've got the cold now myself.
Greer tends to go to sleep without too much fuss now - but it means me either giving her my finger to suck or stretching over the cot with the boobie until she goes off.
I think I'm getting more into a normal routine too, but there are days when I feel I achieved nothing - like yesterday.
DS wants me to play with him so I best go.
