Just found this.
Has anyone else had issues with the LO's sleep?? Jorja has been waking so many times a night it crazy. Is it just a phase? Anyone else having these issues? Where do the 2 yr old molars appear? Is it right at the back of the mouth? Sorry about all the questions, just going through a crazy time.
Hi Jen, yep, we're having sleep issues here too. Though for us it's not teething cause Liam has all of his teeth now, it's just my dumb luck! Miss J might be teething, and yep the teeth are the ones right at the back, next to where the wisdom teeth will come through. The can be very painful for them. Does she get any other symptoms, like dribbling, rosy cheeks, maybe a runny nose for no reason (like a cold), yucky poos, off ehr food.... She has had alot of change too with Miss S being born recently, and if I remember correctly you've moved house too haven't you? Or am I thinking of the worng person?! Good luck anyway hun. I know the feeling of having a toddler and a baby. It ain't easy!
She usually gets rosy cheeks and a runny nose. The food thing is just an on going battle here. One day I can't give her enough, the next shes on a hunger strike. DH is always getting angry with her for not eating but I really don't think thats going to help. It frustrates the c**p out of me, but getting angry with her is just going to make her not eat more. Thats a WHOLE other thread though....
Yeah moved house about 8/9 wks ago and Miss S coming along. I'll keep an eye out for the teeth, don't think I have seen them yet....
Hope everyone is well and the pg's are all going well too. xx
I find that all kids have periods where they are hungry and then not! best to ignore it i say. And just dont offer then an unhealthy choice just to get them to eat. Dinner is dinner and if they are hungry then they'll eat!
Jen, how's things with the kids going? Ihope they're doing a bit better. I know how frustrating it can be. And how it can get to you and make you feel down.
I agree with Milly about the eating thing though. I don't make a different meal for my kids. I make sure there is something on the plate they will both eat, but if they don't eat it, too bad, they do not get another meal. I give them the choice of eating their meal until DH and I finish at the table, usually about 30-45 min, and then clear the table. They then get the choice of fruit or a carrot if they want it. Maybe once or twice a week we have a dessert, like yogurt, icecream, fruit and jelly....and they get that if they TRY dinner. They don't have to eat it all, just taste what's on their plate. I don't stress. DS is pretty fussy. He won't eat much meat or veggies, he's also difficult to get to try things. He will only do it on his terms. DD is a better eater and will try most things, and eats a pretty good variety of everything. I serve everyone up the same meal every day, whether they like it or not. If it's something I know someone won't eat I just put a tiny bit on the plate, so they can't say I'm not eating (whatever) if (whoever) doesn't have to. They have what everyone else has. Somedays one of them will surprise me and try and then eat something they've never eaten before. I agree that your DH won't help anything by getting angry about it if J doesn't eat. I read/heard somewhere that you should take kids food intake over a week, not a day. So one day they will eat non stop and the next day they will eat like sparrows, but over the week it evens out. Try not to worry. If she's healthy, energetic and happy, she's fine!
AFM, I am feeling much better. The kids are on the road to recovery and are sleeping better, which really helps me feel better. Looking forwards to this Wednesday when DH and I have soem time alone together for the first time in ages! The kids are going to day care and DH has the day off. I will be going to the GP to see what they will suggest for me, see if I do in fact have depression. LOL, DH and my first day together and I'm dragging him out on a date to the GP!! But after that the day is ours! Other than that no news...very slow out here in the sticks!!
Hope everyone is well and had a great weekend!
AFM, well we have had an horrific few days, or weeks even!! The kids have been sick with colds and then Lily got slapped cheek and Liam got croup. Lily vommited a few times so I guess she had a tummy bug too, tho nothing too terrible. Now Liam has just vommited at the dinner table mid way though eating....I was fighting the urge to join him. I left DH to deal with cleaning it- he has a stomach of steel, I used to working in childcare but when I'm pg, particularly this pg, I just can't stand the smell or anything about it! Plus my gag reflex is so sensitive, I gag even when I brush my teeth... So I'm hoping it was just a one off thing and he's eaten too much or something and he's not going to be up all night puking every time he coughs I'm waiting for him to vomit again....He isn't sleeping well as it is. Since he's been sick he's been waking in the night absolutely screaming the house down and othing but going to watch tv in the lounge room will settle him....so not what I want to be doing adn a terrible habbit for him to form, but I can't deal with the screaming and I don't want him waking Lily. He wakes for a hour or more at a time I so don't know what to do...and having him sick again well, it's just the icing on the cake!! Can't wait til they're better! They're jumping off the walls at the mo, so it seems the vomit was just a once off!
I went to the doc and he agrees I probably have depression. He's given me a referral for a psychologist. I ahve to make an appointment. I'm hoping she will have something to help me (though preferably not medication...)
Ok, off to put the monkeys to bed...hope all is well and weveryone is enjoying hteir long weekends!
