    Hi Vic and Mel!!

Glad Nakita is doing so well and got the all clear!!! Must be so weird to have her EDD arriving so long after her birth eh?

Mel - mums are great eh? Mum cooked lasagne and brought it over tonight, soo yummy. Man has food ever tasted so good to you after giving birth? I've got such an appetite too.

I've had a bit of time to get on top of my emails and catch up with BellyBelly today. Still need to do my birth story/announcement on here too!

Eli had his first checkup yesterday, he only lost 100g from his birth weight which my midwife was really happy with. He's really easy to feed, yay! My milk came in on Sunday night but today has come in major quantities and I got really sore rock hard leaky boobs this evening before he fed. Mum suggested warm flannels and expressing to help ease the pain. I'm typing this as he lies sleeping against my chest, soo cute

I had a major cry this afternoon too.. I was trying to be so strong and not get the cliche baby blues but I just ended up bawling my eyes out over nothing really. Feel heaps better for it now.

Kiwigirl - sometimes you just need a good cry huh... I haven't been crying but I've been awfully bloody cranky!!!!! lol Sometimes its just too hard dealing with a toddler and a newborn.... my milk has just about dried up now - which is great - no more leaking woohoo!!! Also switched DD over to S26 Gold, so we'll see how that goes... She's not the best sleeper in the world though - just like her brother!!!!!

Gawd, I just looked around my house - holy crap its a mess. Will have to try to tidy up when DS is having his nap (DH is just putting him down now). Hopefully little miss will wake up for a feed soon (rocking her rocker with my foot as I type at the moment) then hopefully she will have a HUGE sleep after that... doubt it though.. but I can dream...

Coffee fixes a lot of problems...

Vic - I'm having problems with MCN on DD cos she has skinny little legs and no bum, can't even imagine what it would be like using them on your teeny little one!!!!!

If that damn dog next door doesn't stop barking I'll go crazyyyyy.....

Just wanted to check in with everyone... thought LOTS of people would have made it in here by now.. ahh well.. nice and cosy ain't it.. lol

    Hey ladies,

Yes I'm crashing this thread too!! (After all, I WAS due on the 4th!) I've been so caught up with waiting for the others to give birth that I totally forgot about baby buddy threads!!

Mel - I so hear you about dealing with a toddler and a newborn ... just add a preschooler and a 7 year old to the mix and *hey presto* welcome to hectic city!!

I cried alot after my 3rd was born, Kiwigirl, but this time I have been more cranky, I think being sleep deprived for the last few nights has gotten to me, and none of the kids were listening to me last night!! (it wasn't a full moon was it?? lol!) Took me 4 hours to settle Veygas down and get him to sleep - by 10pm I was absolutely exhausted!

he he he my house is a mess atm too! Trying to get back into the swing of things since DP went back to work last week ... I manage to get a few dishes done at a time, but alas, they pile up faster than I can do them, and clean clothes are still sitting in baskets waiting to be folded as more clean clothes get added to the pile!! Eh, it'll all get done eventually!! My care factor towards housework atm is zero. Thankfully though, our 7yo has chores!!

Vic - I'm so glad Nakita is doing so well!

    Hi Ladies!!!

I am stoked to be a part of a baby buddies thread!! Shane was born August 3rd!! he was 2 and half weeks early- but he is doing really well- no special care or anything!! It will be great to have some feed back from people with bubs all the same age!! Cant wait to swap stories!!

He dropped a little bit of weight the first few days and came close to getting jaundice coz i was bfeeding- but he wasnt attaching properly- once we figured out how to do it right- he put it right back on!! His levels for jaundice where slighlty high- they nearly didnt let us go home until they settled- but his colouring was good- so we got to come home and were just told to keep an eye on him- and he has been looking good.

We have our first early childhood appt on tuesday the 19th- so i will see how his weight etc is going then.

He is a great sleeper- his best sleep was 5 hours!! averages about 3-4 usually. I am doing ok with the emotions- we had a bad night the ther night- he was so upset for no apparent reason- and had his first real howl- it nearly brke my heart and i did have a little cry- but then yesterday he was over it and i had my happy baby back!! Happy baby = happy mummy!!

He hates having his bum changed though!! Thats usually the only time he really howls!!

Beema.. Yay on the weight gain!! My boy loves his little chucks and he has been drooling in his sleep!! too cute- he ends up with this milky line down his cheek!! He is 00000 too- except for his bonds wondersuits- he fits the 0000- i wish all the clothes were the same size standard!! its so gard- some 00000 are too big- and some 0000 fit him!! lol All his "cute out fits" are too big- so he is stuck in wonder suits till he grows a bit more!!

KiwiGirl... Cries are much better out then in- let loose if you feel the need!! It feels funny when the milk comes through!! The mid wives kept asking if mine had come through yet in the first few days and i was like "im not sure" they said- "oh you will know!!" and sure enough on day 4- WOAH huge hard bulging boobies!!!!!!!Then when Shane had his marathon 5 hour sleep my boobies were nearly bursting coz they needed to be emptied!! lol We are getting into a good routine now- using both sides each feed- but alternating a bit too- coz he likes to have a nibble at the end of feeding to go to sleep. I am really enjoying breast feeding although DH is feeling a little left out coz he cant help there.. i am going to look into expressing soon so that he can help a bit with feeding- but im not 100% sure how to go about expressing- i heard a horror story from a friend who said she dried up after trying to express- i dont want that to happen- so i am going to do some research first.

Mel... LoL at your poor house!! I did my first tidy up while DS slept yesterday- he kept making little noises so i kept running to check on him thinking- just sleep a little more- I have nearly finished the lunge room- then the kitchen!! I never quite got to the dishes!! i am very lucky- my DH has taken some time off work to help us out- i had a c section- so i am on light duties for the next few weeks!! I am blessed with two perfect boys!! A big one and a little one!! Mum has visited and she has done alot of things for us too- made curtains- decorated the bassinette- lol but when she visits its all about gooing at the baby!!!

Mountainmummy... Lol glad to hear i am not the only one who does dishes in dribs and drabs- just have plates to go today (yes plates = a whole load!! its been a few days!! ) and my clean clothes are taking over the spare bed as we speak!! Glad i can shut the door on that one!!

I am sooo happy to meet you all!! Happy resting ladies!! i forget to do that during the day- and then regret it when i hear those cries at 2am and even more when they start again at 6am!! I will learn eventually before i totally wear myself out!!

    Take care all

Hiya Katti, its nice to meet you!!! I had a c-section too, plus I have pelvic instability so on very light duties in my house. DH goes back to work next week - scary!!!! Have to handle my terrors by myself - I may just go insane.... lol

Oh and I never rest during the day - but am used to waking up cos DS still doesn't sleep through the night anyway!!!

Oh and I'm no expert (BFing doesn't work for me) but I think if you express after a feed, your supply should be fine

MM - I do not envy your hectic city - I live in tantrum town myself..lol
Can you send your 7 year old around here for chores too? hehe

Thanks mel.. i thought thats the best way re the expressing.. then it should really INcrease the supply rather than drain it. Not sure exactly what happened with my friend- we just heard it from her partner- he said she got stressed out and then stopped making milk- i am pretty confident we will be ok.

    Hi Katti and welcome!!

I've expressed milk in the past and have had no problems with supply drying up - my first 3 breastfed over 12 months (my third to about 16-17 months!) so lets hope this little one goes the distance! Breast milk is a "supply and demand" kind of thing - the higher the demand, the greater the supply (or so a community childhood nurse once told me!) Personally, I haven't found anything to the contrary, so I'm guessing that it's right!!

Mel - lol @ your tantrum town!! If I sent my 7yo your way, I reckon he'd think he was on holidays!! The weather would be too nice for him to think about doing chores! (I think the cold weather keeps him motivated and thus warm!!)
