Star bright haha at shane weeing on nurse hehehe. Yor funny typing while ya should be listening on the phone.
QUESTION AGAIN FOR EVERYONE each time your bub is awake how long is that for?
Every time i burp bubs he tends to sleep, feeding alseep too, the nurse said he should be awake and feeding but not my Josiah nope eyes go shut (is your bubs like this) and ya get the gulping noise and mmmm and moans and growns.
Has anyones kids got Growing pains?
Yummo just had breaky lunch and morning and after noon tea a roll with smoked ham and lettuce and tomato yummo!!!!
No hardhats required!! Just orange vests!! But I didn't take her to site, too much heavy machinery operating, and power tools, concrete saws etc, so the girls looked after her. I am going to have to buy a portacot or something, maybe even a kindercot, so I don't have to take the pram down....
Happy three weeks Josiah!
Thanks Squidipa - I have a few more to go, but Photobucket is currently undergoing maintenance, so I can finish hopefully it won't be too long!
Want to put up our collection from our mobile phones - gotta wait for hubby to bring his home - he has photos from nearly every day!! He was sending them to our family who live a few hours away.
Got a piccy of Nakita looking very "drunk: on boobie milk - does anyone elses bub's look like they are a bit drunk after a really big feed.
Oh and your question about bubs looking awake/asleep, it shouldn't matter if their eyes are open or not, you can tell by their sucking if they are actually awake, when Nakita goes too sleep she losens her "grip" on the shield, and it kinda slips.
LOL Katti - i am like you on my computer while on the phone, feeding etc, I just can't do one thing at a time - then I end up being vague on the phone
I hope you can get Shane to sleep in longer blocks, it must be frustrating atm
How much tummy time are you giving bubs? I put Nakita on her belly, but she rolls her self onto her back she first rolled at 3 weeks - I think she could do it cos she was quite light, but now we struggle to keep her on her belly for long at all. She is starting to interact more with her toys, especially the Baby Einstein blocks we were given on the weekend - she loves them, she also kicked to Toucan on her rainforst playgym and looked at it
Nakita only had a little snack at her 1pm feed, and was only stiring @ 4.15 for her 4pm feed, she slept like a log in between - so she has made up for this morning - lets just hope she won't be partying tonight!!
Some friends are dropping by shortly so I will be off, I have left the front door open fir them and sms'd them to let themselves is as I am feeding!
Talk about a night for it... I started getting sick last night and had a high temp (39 deg) all night feeling miserable and achy and my right boob sooo painful. DH has been doing everything except feed Eli. Went to the doctor today and she says it's mastitis and because of my high temp put me on antibiotics... my temp is still high. Hope I get more sleep tonight
Hi - i replied to you before suidipa- but belly belly had a slight break down and it didnt post..
Shane is awake anywhere from an hour to an hour and half- as soon as he wakes i unwrap him and feed him on one side for about 20 minutes- then i change his nappy- re wrap and feed for however long it takes him to go back to sleep- which varies. This after noon it was about an 45 minutes on the boob- then 20 minutes of him sleeping for about 2mins before waking up- which is when i try my "non boob' settling techniques- ie music rocking, dummy boucing in the bouncer- until he finally stays asleep- so he woke at about 4:10 after going down at about 1:30 and i got him really asleep by about 5:30- so expecting him to wake again anytime from 7pm onwards.
Like beema said- they will appear to be asleep- but if they are still sucking- i leave him be until he drops off the boob on his own. Also i let him really wake up in the first place- he will stir for up to half an hour before he really wakes up- so i try to just keep an eye on him and catch him before he starts to cry- but letting him snooze for as long as possible.
Hope that helps a little!!
Beema.. i only found out about "belly" time yesterday lol- i tried him today and he didnt appear to like it much- i will tryagain tomorrow at changing time and see if he will get used to it. Shane half rolls over- from his back he gets on his side- but hasnt done a full roll onto his belly yet!!
I did get a bit vaugue on the phone!! lol but it was ok- the guy rattles on a fair bit (we have formed quite a friendship me and the telstra man over the last few weeks!!) lol i was ok when i was posting- but then a friend of mine and i started chatting on msn and i REALLy got vaugue!! hahahaha!!
It has been frustrating- especially coz he was sooo good for the first week- he just dropped off to sleep and stayed that way- i dont understand what is going wrong!!!! lol Thats the worst part- he will drop off- but then after a few mintues he just starts screaming- he has been good today- so i hope it keeps going well and we can stretch these sleeps out abit.
Mel.. I hope tonight isnt too much for you- i will meet you in here later tonight if we are both having "party time" lol
taking advantage of sleeping baby and enjoying a cuppa- take care everyone!!
hrmm thanks guys...yeah he feeds strongly but just eyes shut thats all.. As for awake time he is not awake awake he stirs and then wants feeding or dummie or rocking or cuddles anything i do puts him top sleep. he would cry after stiring within a VERY short period of time he just sleeps and sleeps.
Sorry to hear kiwi girl you got mastitis thats blinkin painfull as good thing your on med's now to help. Hope it clears up soon sweet.
Rachel, feeling for you with the Mastitis, I really hope the antibiotics are working by now
Sasha is heading home tomorrow from Hospital, so she will be back online in the next day or two, depends on how good Kye is!!
Kel, Rose, Leasha, hope you are doing well mums and bubs, hope you are getting some sleep, and can update us soon !
Katti - Nakita hated it at first but we still get her on her belly, I think yesterday we got a total of 20min, and she was getting pretty frustrated at the end she had kept trying to roll over!! She quyite happily lies on her back on her playmat for 1/2 an hour or so once or twice a day. They also suggest putting a rolled up towel under their chest as it take the pressure off their belly, but doesn't work for us Nakita rolls a lot easier with the towel !
I have a list in the first post of my blog what i have recently updated, there are some photos of Nakita at 2 and 10 hours from our phones that I have put up, plus some other changes so it will be easy for people to see the most recent updates - gee it is quite an effort to keep this blog going!!!
Must run, playtime is over, 20 minutes is the limit this morning!!!

vic u must be busy with all your blog updates i guess its all worth it
i am bfing now so thought i would post too....this morning the 3 year old went into my hand bag got a bag of unopened lollies out and started eating them and packed his lunch box with them. He also scoffed a pile of cream cookies i left out. At breakfast he split milk all over kitchen floor, and while i was wrapping Josiah up he had fun with the talc powder all over the place he even covered the vacume my vacume looks white now. Did i mention i pulled a car out yesterday from the vacume that the 3 year old managed to shove in the rear of the vac.
The house looks real bad got house inspection monday and i have over done it and late yesterday all night and now i got stabbing pains that come with movement in center of tummy just above scar. Got stupid growing pains still and my legs just ache. jOSIAH WAS RESTLESS AGAIN oops sorry for caps was trying to one handedly put a capital letter on Josiah. I also have a sore through coming down with something very slowly tho. So im a tired aching grumpy momma this morning.
Josh was restless last night In the end i put Josiah in bed with me at 5 am just to get some sleep but now the 3 year old comes in room early and i don't even hear him and i am worried he could be touching Josiah while im asleep. Cant win either the 3 year old is stuffing his face, trashing his room, catching a cold, eating toothpaste. breaking the 7 year olds things, getting into things he shouldn't be, sitting out side my room door in the cold or winging, making sambo's in the carpet, or he is touching Josiah trying to be helpful but waking him up putting blankets over his head or shoving dummies in his mouth while he is finally resting. i cant win!!!! I persist all night in trying to get Josiah to sleep by him self, knowing he will be restless cause he just wants in with me. I don't sleep right with him in with me grrrr.
Josiah is sleep now but if i put him down he will be up again he does not like time by him self he is Very attached.
MW might be coming to re weigh him tomorrow, they said to be sure his tongue tie is not causing feeding issues. That reminds me he snacks all the time the sneaky bom
And also i know i am still not drinking or eating enough or of the right things and i am disappointed with my self.
now hubbie will be home and there is milk and powder every where its like do i tempt it and put josh down and he wakes and gets over tired or do i leave the mess for now?
Blah!
We had a bad night last night too! Veygas started off ok ... went to bed after bath and feed about 5pm, but then woke up at 6.30pm, 8pm, 9.30pm - all for feeds! And with me feeling like I'm getting the flu, I ended up keeping him in bed with me after the 9.30 one. He then slept through to 1am, and then all hell broke loose! He mucked around with feeding, didn't want to settle, got himself all worked up and full of wind - it took me til 4.30am to settle him, so like Squidipa, I am one tired cranky mummy today Poor thing, though, he screamed the house down for about 2 hours, and tbh, I felt so useless, and sick and tired - all I wanted him to do was sleep!!! Finally he took the dummy and then slept through til 8.15am. Thankfully, I woke up at 7am - managed to shower, breakfast and start getting the other kids ready for the day!
We swapped DD's daycare to preschool, and pulled DS#2 out of daycare altogether, so she started at her new preschool today, which she was excited about! Trouble was it took be 45 minutes to get DS#2 out of there, cause he wanted to stay and play - but he is already booked in to start there next year (just need to get him toilet trained!)
Veygas thankfully has been asleep for the last maybe hour and a half (and in his cot too, not on me!! ), but now I have to get these two munchkins in the car and go pick up DD so we can pick up DS#1 in time!!
ETA Veygas is ONE MONTH OLD today!!!

Kiwi Girl i have had mastitis before and i know how Painful it can be I hope your feeling better today sweet!
Hi everyone, Josiah had a feed around 11 then i put him to bed put dummie in mouth at some random time and stroked his nose and he went t sleep. I kept my arm in the basinette with him and at 4.30 he fed again then at 6.30 i slept better i put him in bed with me at 4.30 i slept he fed hehe.
this morning i have had army green poop smudged on the stepping stool to deal with and wee on floor grrr. It must have been his late night pee. Its not like him to do that the 3 year old i mean. He gets so frustrated with himself to if something like that happened. Last night i found drawing on my couch grrr.
Yesterday and today not much blood loss but i have been having cramps and the sensitive tummie is still there with sharp pains too. Mid wife appointment to day fr a weigh in.
The ex husband said last night that he was cool with taking kids to nz so i cant wait to tell them today They will be so happy but its gonna cost us almost everything we got. It will be worth it so the 6 of us will be going Memba i said the inlaws was paying for two adults so its juts 3 kids to pay for josiah is free
Kel where are you maybe i should text ya are you alright?
Gudisim you were quiet yesterday where is everyone?
Well I'm feeling a tonne better now the fever has gone!! It ranged from 38-39.4 degrees from Tuesday night until late Thursday night. Yuck.
Thanks everyone for your messages
MM I hope you don't get the flu or mastitis - I started off feeling like I was getting the flu: sneezing lots, achy all over, tired, fever.
Vic, I think you asked how long Eli feeds for? Usually about 20 mins in total, he is a bit of a guzzler though!! I also got a pic of the boys having a nap together here
Weighed myself today and I've lost 9kg of the 14kg I put on during pregnancy, yay!

kiwi girl that is a VERY VERY VERY VERY nice picture.
Well im all exited today as ya know cause i just posted this morning we are taking the kids to New Zealand with us wont have a stack load of cash t throw round but it will be nice all the same lots of picnic and some sight seeing for kids but nothign to far away as i am the only driver. Cant wait to tell them!!!!! I still have to put some numbers together tho would like to have that done before telling them but we will see what happeneds. Cant wait to see their reactions. Altho on a downer don't like the idea of telling my father we are going to nz. As i know he mises me heaps. I miss him more than anyone else also but going back to w.a on a holiday or visit is very stressful for me and has high risks, my other part of the family just have me totally stressing out. Dont think its worth the investment If you know what i mean.
The inlaws always seem to help out so much when we go to nz and with out that help of simple things it just woudlnt be possible eg: loaning us a car and a Place to stay so we arnt all cooped up like chickens with the inlaws. Mind you i love my inlaws i get along real well with them there is a lot of respect. I love chatting away with my father inlaw its abit like a second dad.
My brain is rushing around with excitement.. Or MAYBE its the FRESH COFFEE! I just finally filled my coffee machine up with water and coffee beans As i sorta packed it away for while i was in hospital so hasnt been turned on for months now. Packed it away well before we had bubs as i didnt want a sudden labor and b concerned about old coffee dregs in the machine or water going mouldy as i am the only one whom knows how to clean it.
That's so awesome your ex changed his mind about the trip! So happy for you! If you drive up to Dargaville via SH16 (not SH1) then you should drop by on your way up, we are not much of a detour off the highway.
Glad you like the photo I want to get that one enlarged.
We have had a lot of success with trying to stick to our feeding routine and settling techniques. The only prob- when he wakes up too early i end up spending 2 hours awake- one hour keeping him asleep and then an hour ep with him feeding etc... Also DH is trying to make him stick to a 4 hour break/sleep between feeds- i am finding that hard- not only on my leaky boobies- but i think 3 hours is a better time- just one of those things we are disagreeing about. BIG VENT COMING UP>>>>>> He isnt even happy with me bfeeding- every day since the day Shane as born he has come up with SOME stupid reason or another to suggest he should be on formula with a bottle. It is really starting to ge to me- i have told him that it upsets me and makes me feel like he doesnt think i am doing a good enough job when he keeps bringing ti up- and having all these different excuses (like yesterday's "How do i know milk is coming out just coz Shane is sucking- he sucks his dummy happily with no milk- maybe he is just sucking on my boob and getting nothing" WTF????????????????? Ummm, hello!!!!!!!!!! There is no milk in a dummy DUIMMY thats why nothing comes out- but there is milk is my boobies- and lots of it- and all Shane has to do is lick one of my nipples and i start leaking like a fire hose (which DH has seen happen) so of course it comes out when he sucks- but as i have no 100% proof- besides the fact he spews MILK (gee where did that come from??????) that he is getting milk!! GGGRRRRR- I have an express pump there- but i have been warned that i should wait a little while longer before starting to express- but i am at the point now that i am going to start trying express coz f*ck it at least its a damn bottle- but its still my milk he is getting- some kind of compromise at least!! Although one of his other "reasons" to get him on the bottle was so he could help put at night- well even if i start expressing- i will need to get up to express during the night anyway- but at least then we can both be up together instead of just me.
Ok vent over (i think)... i am starting to think too that the mini pill is having its effect on me mentally, and not in a good way- ever since the day after i started taking it i have had a cry in the evening(every evening- where as before that i hadnt cried once!! Except when my bum really hurt!!) and have been really short with DH which is never good- as it just makes him get the *****s too and we both end up cranky.. i think i will stop taking it- i am still bleeding abit- so its not like we are actually doing anything that requires contraception right now- i think i will try other options!!
Rachel.. Owie- I hope that mastitis gets better soon!!!
Beema.. Shane is still not liking his belly time- i tried again last night and then some more this morning- last night he was doing push ups!! lol (quite a strong little fella) but wasnt enjoying himself at all!!! I will keep trying him with it- might try the towel idea!! Thanks
MM... Happy One Month Vaygas!!! I hope your not getting sick mate!! Sorry you had a full on night- have had a few of them here too- i sympathise!!!
squidipa... NZ sounds like fun!! I have never been there myself- but DH and i have it on our list of places we would like to go!! Where abouts in QLD are you? i am in northern NSW- pretty close to the border- maybe a meet up will be possible one day!
I would talk to the midwife about your belly pains.... yu also said your legs were getting sore right??? I know they ask me all the time if i have sore legs- due to the surgery- did you wear those tight stocking thingy's in the hospital??? I think its to prevent clots or something- i would get it checked out either way- better to be safe than sorry!!
Mel.. Hope all is well with you- must have had a fun night the other night!!
Well Little one is sleeping- might try and do the same.. bye for now!!
Awww Rachel, that photo is just gorgeous, I reckon you might be enlarging that one!! I am very jealous for feeds being done in 20 minutes, we have got it down to pretty much an hour now, although the 2.30am feed was 1.5 this morning, and I did stretch her out to 7.30 am (usually 7am), she woke at 5:55am (my old wake up time - pre baby!!!) pulled her into bed and she resettled.
Love the playmat too We have all Nakita's tiny toys on it too and big soft blocks which she really loves!
So glad to hear the fever has abated :woot: for the weight loss!! I havn't weighed myself for a few weeks but I had 4 kg to lose..... might have to do that! don't think I have lost much more recently, need to get back to the gym!!
MT has has mastitis as well, not fun at all for either of you She should be back online next week - woo hoo!
Gee Squidipa, your 3yr old is quite a challenging little fella - keeps ya on your toes - woot for being able to take all the kids to NZ !!
Mel - I did two applications of sorbelene on Nakita's head the other day and the cradle cap is almost gone, so I think if I do one more she'll be right, but I will save your method up should I need it!!
*** Katti my Ob said not to start taking the mini-pill until 4 weeks PP, maybe you should stop and strt again in a couple of weeks - your homrmones are probably going bunta!! WTF re the bf'ing - if you got, it works and Shane is doing well keep it going, every drop is liquid gold - tell him the WHO (World Health Organisation - recommends at least 6 months of bf'ing)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nakita still grizzles with the TT as well!
Hope the rest of our yummy mummies are back online soon!
Nakita is just wonderful this morning - what a little angel when she has has a good sleep, not even a grizzle when I changed her bum between sides. Now this is weird we have been using Huggies sensitive Wipes - thick ones, they are really cold and she really grizzles with them, but I ran out and have been using some free johnsan's one's we got at both hospitals, and they are thinner softer and she doesn't grizzle or at least not as much... I don't use any other Johnsan's stuff and wasn't going to but might have to use the wipes if it keeps Nakita happier at change time!
Lovely clear blue skies here today, so I am going to take Nakita on a big walk
Has anyone collected the last Bounty Bag from Target yet?
We are going to have to get another bath for Nakita, my parents gave me theirs from when we were little, but Nakita stretches out the whole time and nearly touches each end, worried she's gonna bash her noggin!! My brother was going to loan us his, so I might have to give him a call and see when he is next coming to town.. in the meantime I will measure the laundry tub and see if it is bigger and we can use that!
Woot - some games arrived for our PS3 yesterday hubby and I played Sega Rally - so much fun!!
FINALLY SOME BOOTIES FIT NAKITA AND THEY STAY ON!!!! ONLY TAKEN 7.5 WEEKS!!!

Star bright big hugs sweet!!! I hope you sort out the bottle and boob issue with hubbie sounds very annoying and frustrating. You are doing a good job. I have to wonder WHY as in why and what is his real reason for not wanting you to breast feed??? Is it cause your boobs are his maybe i dunno but it does bring up some questions Does he not believe breast is best? Is it he is just concerned that what if shane isnt getting enough to eat? Could it be that? I wonder if you get to the bottom of the real question if maybe it could be sorted out.
He seems concerned by shane not getting milk, enless he is just trying to annoy you with a very silly comment when you boobs are leaking all the time. Has he ever felt your boob before and after a feed and felt the difference? Does shane get regular weigh ins? maybe get him weighed more with hubbie present thats petty Dam good proof he is fine.
As for how often shane does feed and sleep i think if your the one doing it all the time maybe you should just do what you feel si best they say mothers instinct is always best
