vic sounds like a fine happy day there, feeding times dont normally take to long here i am so grateful for that a for bounty bag at target yeah i got myn last week it had another 10 dollar voucher in it. The 3 year old only egts up to crap when i am not watching like with josiah thats why its gotten worse. he also today poured a whole heap of water over himself int he bathroom and made a big mess trying to clean it up. While i was sorting josiah out. He makes a lot more work for me i tell ya! As for the bath i was thinking wow that bath looks s small or he is soooo long hehe if you sue the laundry tub be careful to wash it out thoughraly and make sure your very sure on bath temp. My mother always bathed us in the tub but you do need to be careful if its metal as it heats up and hold heat easily so start with cold water filling first and after you put the hot in run cold again just incase baby touches the pouring spout of tap. Same with metal baths too. Im prbbbaly saying what ya already know but betetr safe than sorry.

    Hi guys,

Just a quick one from me. Got an infection in my gut so was in hospital last night - but is nothing life threatening, just have to rest up and have lots of fluids... yada yada yada....

Rachel - I hope your mastitis gets better soon ouch!!! Huge hugs to you... gorgeous pic too btw...

SB - perhaps its more that he feels left out of the new relationship you have with your little man? Its one HUGE part of bub's life that he has no control over, and can't be involved. I know my DH felt really left out with DS, and to be honest, its a huge contributing factor why I don't BF, and prefer my bubs to be on the bottle..cos it works for my family ya know?? You shouldn't have to feel pressure to do something that you don't ant to do though!!! Maybe after a few weeks you could express and your DH could give him a bottle or something? I think the recommended waiting time is 6 weeks befor introducing a bottle.

Squidipa - that 3 year old certainly sounds like a troublemaker or maybe just after mummy's attention... cheeky little things they are aren't they!!!

Vic - I'm glad the sorbolene is working

MM - happy one month yesterday to Veygas!!!!

Ohhh Mel - rest up hun, take it easy.

Katti - DH gives Nakita her 9.30pm feed with a bottle of EBM, we have been doing if from early days only cos I had to express and Nakita takes boob and bottle no problem.... It is his special time with her and loves it... also makes it easier for us in the future if we need for someone else to give her a feed IYKWIM

I forgot I was supposed to be on this thread!!! Just spent twenty minutes trying to catch up with all the posts~!
YAY squidipa on your XH letting you go to NZ! You must be soooo excited. I am dying to go to NZ but will have to wait till we have some cash.... and get DD a passport etc.
Hey Kiwigirl, I'm Rachel too - but happy to be the pixie to avoid confusion. hope you're feeling better hun.
Beema - you are always soooo happy! it's great! Great news on Nakita's booties... bet she still kicks them off though, Beth always does. About the wipes, DD always grizzles with huggies (even sensitive) and curash wipes. I got a tip on a baby wipes thread about buying home brand make-up remover wipes and soaking them in water. They're great! She doesn't mind them at all, and they only cost $1.55 a packet which is like a fifth of the dedicated baby wipes. I don't know why you need all those chemicals in something you're only going to wipe your baby's bum with IYKWIM. I don't wipe my bum with chemicals so why do I want to do it to her?
Mel - bugger about the infection - was it related to the CS or something else completely? Hope you feel better.
SB hope you get things sorted out.... minipill could easily be the problem, surely its enough of a hormonal rollercoaster already without adding that to the mix?
Going to start expressing so the Bear can do a late night feed. He is such a foodie he hates missing out on feeding her LOL. We bought a steriliser at a garage sale and it needs a good clean out so I have to wait till i can find some citric acid, whatever that is LOL. But then can't wait to use my electric pump LOL.
MM, kel, and.... everyone else.... promise I'll try to keep up from now on! LOL

ETA - and about the bath thing, we have got a little rubber duckie with a thermometer on the bottom.

Ugh! Had another bad one last night, but at least this time, it only lasted an hour!! I think it's moreso cause I'm not feeling 100%, Veygas picks up on it, but I just wish he'd understand that I am better to him rested than tired and sick!!

Pixie - I think you can get citric acid in the same place in the supermarket as the spices, herbs and bi-carb soda ... I've used it in cooking a couple of times (and it is also a great ingredient in home made bath bombs cause it fizzes!!)

Yay Vic, for Nakita fitting in her booties!!

Katti - I started on the mini pill about 9 or 10 months after #3 was born, and I had the same thing - terrible mood swings, crying at the drop of a hat ... my DP said to me after only 3 days to stop taking it!!

Apparently too, the combined pill dries up your milk - I had a friend whose doc put her on it and in less than a week, she wasn't producing milk any more (she forgot to tell her doc she was BFing, and her doc never asked - I think it goes to show so many people assume all babies are on formula ... sorry, that was in another thread I was reading the other day!)

Mel and Rachel - hope you both get better real soon!! I know what it's like to be sick with a newborn (thankfully that abscess has cleaed up since having it drained!)
Rachel, have you noticed any change in Eli's feeding behaviour since being on antibiotics?

Vic, we have the regular baby bath but we also have a little seat thing that suctions on to the bottom of the normal bath. Veygas is still too small for it, but if I'm in a hurry and want the kids to all have baths quickly, I'll use that instead - I'll try to get DP to take a photo of him in it over the weekend ...

Squidipa - YAY for being able to go to NZ as a whole family!!! That is awesome!!

I'm sure there was more I wanted to write, but this has taken me about half an hour so far and my mind has gone blank!!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

pixie.. did ya know that virgin fly's kids under two years FREE yep they do

MM.. I do hope you feel better soon and vegas settles more at night. I am a terrible person when i have lack of sleep bad patience Hope you get a good night sleep tonight.

Midwife came and went took 2 hours. We watched a movie on knowing the tiered signs of baby and settling ways. She was very informative. She said that to be sure that baby doesn't sleep only on one side as he will get flat head. I was like ahh o.k didn't know that. Knew about there hair falling out and being rubbed of but not about flat head interesting it was.

Confirmed its cool to feed bubs water if i want. She is concerned with his attaching on to my boob well it's a mixer eithor the tongue tie could be causing problem or the attaching on to boob . Me well i dont see any issue bubs is feeding fine gaining weigh so what the issue? hrmm. She measured and weighed him and checked him from head to toe.
Anyones baby got birth marks?? ours does a large on on his shoulder its pale like in color up to his neck and down to his nipple on left side. Altho mid wife wants it checked just encase it a circulation problem so next time at drs ill do this. Josiah also has a strawberry small mark on his left arm. My 3 year old has circulation issues.

She also said and asked does he pee off to the side i said you would guess so with it being a bit leaning over that way. why am i sharing this well its true and i dunno is any of your boys lika that none of my other two were. So i guess on the 2nd we will find out about that when we see the dr surgeon.

Oh i bough a bunch of boys clothes in ebay today 0000-2 sizes cost me 98 with post for 90 items so i think thats pretty cool. Disney peter rabbit pumpkin and kmart target, bonds, Gap and otehr brands so i good variety winter and summer things. I also received my hubbies fathers day gift from me to him today. I am soooo Dying to share with you all what it is as i think its awesome but dont want hubbie reading my post.

She also said she wanted me to see a dr as thinks i might have an infection

Josiah was 3640grams thats 210 grams in 1 week

Squidipa, that's a good weight gain!!

I think all boys pee off to one side - I mean all the guys I have known have and DS1 does - I'm pretty sure DS2 does as well, but as he's showing no signs at all of toilet training, I'm only going by the peeing with his nappy off as a baby!!

Yeah, I have absolutely no patience when I don't sleep as well - I don't think it helps the situation any and I have to force myself to calm down, even if it means walking away and getting a drink or something, just for a couple of minutes, and taking a couple of deep breaths ... except today when we were caught up in traffic on the way home from shopping and both the little ones started - there was nothing I could do, but I swear I was nearly crying!

Veygas has been a little more settled today ... we had about 5mins of tummy time before he got jacked of it! But by pulling his knees up under him he managed to move about an inch or two forward! Mind you, he was pushing his head along the floor, so I can't imagine that would have been too comfortable!!

he sleeps better tonight cause my throat is killing me and I just feel like crap in general ... it's funny cause the kids haven't been well (especially #3) but for the most part of them being sick, I was still on antibiotics - now that the course is finished, I feel like my immune system is compromised, like the antibiotics were stopping me from getting sick and now that my body has to fight for itself, it's just given up! I've been taking Immune Boost and the pregnancy/breastfeeding multivitamins, as well as iron and vit C, all with Berocca in the mornings just to try and fight off whatever it is! But I think a good nights sleep would work wonders! (yeah right, like that's gonna happen!! LOL!)

Oh well ... I'm too worried about taking cold and flu tablets, not because of what is in them (cause we get natural ones anyway) but because I'm worried that with the night time ones I'd sleep through Veygas crying! As it is, I am so worn out atm that it took me a while to hear him last night and the monitor is right next to my head!!

BTW, I remembered what else I was gonna say before ... WIPES, I used the huggies ones once with each of my first 3 kids and all of them got rashes from them (yes the sensitive ones at that) I have never had a problem with the Johnson's wipes, they seem to agree with my kids skin!

Oh man would you guys stop talking so much I've had to read 6 pages (well, would have, had my mind not gone completely blank while I was reading and I stopped at page 4 )

I did skim though, and read about bad nights. Oh man all I have to say is someone somewhere in the universe has decided I don't need to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time. Sometimes they seem to think one hour is plenty of time. I have a (party) animal who thinks waking every hour at night is soooooooo much fun. I had one good night where she went to sleep at 10pm, woke at 2pm, and then stayed asleep until 6am. Best night sleep since she was born. Other nights are awful. Shel helps a little at night but theres not a lot she can do when little miss animal decides she just wants to lay awake against my boob not anywhere else and not even feeding so I send Shel back to sleep, no use us both being zombies during the day. I express so Shel does the afternoon feed while I sleep. Of course, something always happens. Yesterday the cats caught a snake 45 minutes into my nap and Shel bought Jazz into the room. She WAS asleep but her "mummy is trying to relax" radar must have gone off and she started screaming for no reason at all.

I do love being a mum, honest, though these first weeks are more trying and tiring than I imagined. I guess it doesn't matter how many people tell you, for some reason its something I didn't really understand until I experienced it! I sent a message to my mum the other day that said "I love you so much right now" and she understood straight away. I know she did because she sent back "Ah, you're a mum now!". A very bonding moment, I'm glad she's come around i don't know what I'd do without being able to call her every few days and get reassurance that very few people die of lack of sleep.

No sex here either yet. I reckon I'd just fall asleep LOL. Still a bit yucky down there anyway. It's a PITA but thank goodness I am still yucky, as Shel keeps asking each day how its all going *hint hint* and if it had stopped I'd have to lie to her , I think she's surprised I'm still bleeding.

Someone told Shel if you drink too much coffee your milk dries up. So every time I go to have a coffee I get "should you be having that?". I sneak in 2 in the morning, and thats it.

Oh god here she goes. Be back later (hopefully it doesn't take me another week ).

    Hi all

Leasha - it is hard But don't worry - seem to be easier second time round... (either that or you just never adjust back to actually needing sleep!!!) I've only just stopped bleeding now.. yay!!! Your ticker pic is gorgeous too btw...

    Sasha - welcome home

MM - we had tummy time here this morning.. no whingin or anythin but she sure didn't look very comfy!!!! She has great head control though, always lifting her head up for a squiz around the joint!!! Oh and where was your absess? Did I miss something??

Squidipa - we did the dummy trick with DS too - its a good one huh.... this little miss doesn't particularly seem to be very fond of the dummy unfortunately!!!! Oh and no birth marks here?

Pixie - the don't know if its related to c-section or not, they really have no clue, just trying to get rid of it before it turns into something really nasty.

Welcome home Sasha i'm so glad neither one of us was last

leash- yep being a mum is hard the lack of sleep with Cadence is what got me but you're doing well chicky

squdipa- both my girls had facial birth marks cadence more then Allegra. Cadences are barely visible they only flare up when she cries. Yay for a good nights sleep

Hello to all our mummies and babies

Allegra is the best bubba she wakes twice a night 3 times on a bad night so i'm loving that. BF is horrible i've had to express milk for her as my nipples are cracked and very sore but they are getting better.

    Hello fellow zombies!!!

Welcome home Sasha!! I'm looking forward to meeting you when you have more time- like in about 3 or 4 years!! lol

Leesha- Your minchkin and my little man would get along great!!!!! They both have the same radars- and i soooo hear you on the one hour thing- and the "i want to just sit here on your boob and do nothing" thing!!! But we love them to bits none the less!!!

Mel.. Take it easy matie, i hope your belly gets better soon!!! Keep up those fluids!!

Squidipa... For big sleeps!!!! I hope you made the most of it and got some good zzzz's in yourself too!!!

MM.... I hope your flu eases soon for you!! It would be horrible to be sick and sleep deprived all at once!! You have my deepest sympathy!!!

Pixie... Hello!!! Nice to "meet" you!! Yes the mini pill was causing complete choas to my frame of mind!! Stopped it yesterday and feeling better already! Also of course my craziness added to the hectic vibes between me and DH- so things are much calmer and happier with us today- its mazing what a huge impact one little tablet can have!!! We are going to look inot some other forms of contraception ASAP (hate condoms- last resort!!!)

Has anyone heard of a temporary thing the guys can have done- DH reckons there is something that is reversable similar to the snip- but not permanet- we definalty DONT want our baby making days to be completely over- just temporarily for a few years... i think i might google!!

Yes i agree with everyones input re my DH and his not happy with Bfeeding. also maybe i should add- that DH has two children to another lady who he practically raised from birth to 3 years old, and they were ofcourse bottle fed- so he has experience with babies- but only bottle fed ones- so he is a bit out of sorts- as i have researched- and bfeed babies have completley different feeding habits etc to bottle fed- so i think too that he feels he knows what to do better if Shane was on the bottle- where as we are both starting new to this bfeeding and he feels he can help better if we go with what he knows. Coz most of what he thought he knew- is completly different (which he is starting to realise and come to terms with i think!!) I do understand all that- and he has said that he is proud that i am willing to bfeed- its just going to take some getting used to!! And i feel much better after just venting!!

Ok girls- i tried the expressing thing-(using advent manual pump) and its just not happnening for me- it did briefly get it going once- long enough for me to realise i had the valve thingy the wrong way around so the milk wasnt going inot the bottle- by the time i took the thing apart and fixed it- it was all over. I think i am not gettting the attchment right on my boob or something- please ANY advice??!!! I am sure my DH would love to have a go- and it would help with our battle of boob vs bottle (which he has let up on tad yesterday and today) Mind you- he is getting plenty of bonding as he has been doing alot of the settling when Shane is full but just wont sleep- but i am sure he would still love to have a go at feeding.

Having a bit more luck with tummy time- he seems a bit confused by it all- like "why am i doing this for mum??" but he does get some head lifting action and still loves doing his push ups!!

i cant remember who asked- no birthmarks here- but Shane does have a red bloth on his right eye lid.. im not sure what is is- none of the drs have said anything about it so im not worried- but it is noticable.

Well we are pushing 1 and a half hours here!! Wahoo!! Keep sleeping boy- keep sleeping!!!!

Time for mummy to have a lay down too!!

    Take care everyone!!

    Hi Starbright,
I found with my avent pump it takes a few pumps to get the flow going and if I can't get anything I move it either higher or lower on my boob until I can get mik out they are a bit tricky to use

    Welcome back sasha!!

squidipa - do you mean birth certificate or something else? Sorry not sure on which statutory declaration you're after?

Vic - Eli totally has the drunk look too after a big feed, it is hilarious!

Leasha - *hug* hang in there... hopefully your party girl will figure out day vs night quickly!

kel - do you have anything to put on your sore nipples? I got given quite a few creams for them but haven't tried any yet.

starbright - let me know if you find a temporary soln to contraceptives!! It sucks having to think about it again after so long of not worrying about it!!!

Mel - are you feeling better?

MM - I'm using Johnsons wipes too at the moment but might switch to water + thin cloths once they run out and just use them for when we're out and about.

Can't see any birthmarks on Eli either.

    Hi everyone else I've missed!!

We're still looking for another car. DH gets distracted looking at BMWs and has been too busy with work to look seriously so I've been hunting online and showing him possible options. Maybe next weekend we will go out and look seriously... I hope so because I don't like having an unreliable car!!!
