SO glad you're feeling heaps better pixie i hate feeling sick, no fun at all... especially when you have a little one to take care of too!

I am tired, second night Eli's had a restless night (the first was when he was sick), he fed too much last night - i should have realised and feel bad - then he spewed up something massive at about 11pm (thankfully DH had moved him over the tiles by this point!!) - first one of those in over a week... then i fed him at 2am and was paranoid about overfeeding him and probably underfed him so he woke up fully and was snacking until 4am when he fell asleep on me (he's been in his basinette since I got mastitis). Had to get up at 7am but DH (who slept in the spare room last night cos he's been a bit under the weather too) came in, I told him in my half-sleep state that I had a rotten sleep and thought he'd let me sleep in for another hour... he was being thoughtful but forgot how long it takes to get me + Eli ready to go out (we had two things on this morning.. one at 9am in town.. a 40 min drive away)... I could have rushed and got ready in 20 mins but definitely not me + Eli! Tears and grumpiness ensued. We got there in the end. Eli's been coughing a little bit today, I think some sick went down the wrong way? Midwife coming this afternoon for a checkup yay so will talk to her about this. I'm trying to be laid back as much as possible but worry I'm not doing things right, y'know?

Rach I had to laugh when I read this. Dont worry Kye has done two major power chucks -my fault from not being able to tell he is full. Gee they were bad, had milk coming out of his nose even, poor fella - can hear you on getting paranoid. The feed's after those ones I was very cautious, didnt want a repeat.

Well finally the man is down. Have been a bit concerned as he hasnt been regular with his poo's - like only poo'ing every 3rd day but boy he has made up for it today!! He did the biggest poo before. It was everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE!! 5 wipes and two face washers later he was all clean again, my god it stunk too

A tip for anyone who ever has a baby who is constipated: try putting a level teaspoon of Brown sugar into their bottle every 2nd feed. We did that early this morning and I am sure thats what has helped Kye. Apparently you need to keep doing it until their poo is 'pasty' again.

Squidipa - how did you get on with the Paed?

Mel - congrats on the 1 month mark

Pixie - glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better. My mum has been pretty sick with what she thought was laryngitis (as she lost her voice) I am so hoping she doesnt pass it onto me or Kye, thats all we need.

Well I am off to go and have a nap I think while the man sleeps.

Are you breastfeeding? I had this concern too (but with Veygas having this hernia, I was told to watch his bowel motions!) But I discussed it with the ECH nurse this morning and she said it's normal for breastfed babies to go up to two weeks without doing a poo! But she also said with a hernia, to be concerned if he doesn't have a dirty nappy after about 3 or 4 days (he hadn't had one in two days, which is why I was worried)

But I agree, they certainly make up for it!

ETA: Duh, you were talking about expressing before, so I gather you are breastfeeding!

    Hi everyone,

Well I jinxed myself. The last few nights, since i wrote that post actually , Jazz has had some monster nights. I have taken to sleeping on the couch with her from 2am because I get so frustrated getting woken up in bed. Dunno what it is but I can handle it better when I'm on the couch, so we stay there from 2am, well last night we went back to bed at 5am but she grizzled constantly until I got her out of bed this morning. I am overtired now, once the sun goes down I can sleep but during the day I just can't seem to get to sleep. Well, that and every time Jazz makes a noise Shel decides its time for some booby. No matter if she had a full feed 30 minutes ago, if shes crying shes obviously hungry So I pretty much constantly have a crying baby attached to me. Oh well, all part of being a mum huh!

Everything else is going great though. Still lopsided and boobies are tempremental as to which one works, its like they are taking it in turns the past few days the left has been full and the right is offline, though the right is still the bigger one. LOL! Squidipa I think you asked, I ended up getting the bonds feeding singlets and I pretty much live in them so I don't have to flash my belly every time I feed as I feed in public a bit (little miss has been having shorter feeds more often rather than a long one every few hours so I can never go out without feeding and its a pain to trek to a feeding room to feed her for no more than 10 minutes every time she wants one!) and my belly is a bit saggy and decorated with stretch marks.

Mel, yep Shel and I will be there tomorrow. Don't know how long we'll stay, depends on the night she has tonight. We are aiming to be there by 10.30, though will hopefully get there around 10ish if Jazz agrees!

Gotta go, Shel decided it was bath time right in the middle of my time. You know sometimes I could smack her with a frypan she just has no idea. You know Sunday I let her sleep til 10am. And then she gets frustrated when I spend half and hour on here. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Oh, one more thing before she starts cursing me for not helping with the bath... has anyone stopped bleeding and then started again? Mine went brown then stopped for 2 days, and is today back to bright red its a PITA does anyone know if its normal or should I head to the dr? Bit of cramps and we DTD Sunday night, would that make a difference?

Hey Leasha - I stopped bleeding about a week and a bit after the birth, but then I got an abscess in my groin and once that had been drained and was cleared up, I started again (about 3 weeks after) and bled for another week, then spotted every few days for the next 2 weeks but now have had the past week with nothing! We haven't DTD (with 4 kids, I just can't seem to find the time!! ) but with each of mine, the bleeding has been different. This time around, it wasn't as heavy as previous, 1st time, I bled for 4 weeks then nothing til he was 12 months old! 2nd time, on and off for about 6 weeks, then nothing again til she was 12 months old. 3rd time, stopped after 3 weeks, but then got AF when he was 8 months old (even though still BFing, he had been fed a mixture of breast milk and formula from about 3 months old) and he BFed the longest (to 17 months)

Everyone is different though, but if you are really concerned, have it checked out with your doc.

    Hi Everyone!

I'm back from the land of no internet!! I haven't caught up on this thread yet, just finished catching up on all my e-mails!! But I will post a more informative post when I have caught up and get the time. But just quickly wanted to say Congratulations to everyone, I am really disappointed that I missed out being part of the excitement but I am very greatful to Sasha and Vic for keeping me up to date.

And secondly, just wanted to let you know that Jett and I are doing very well. Jett is behaving himself in the most extraordinary ways like sleeping through the night so Mummy and Daddy can get some decent sleep. But more about that later....

    Love to you all! Mwah!

MM - Yeah I am breastfeeding and expressing too but my boob milk isnt enough to sustain the man so I have been topping him up with Karicare formula as well when he needs it. So 40mls total from both boobs in 10 mins is a relatively good amount is it? I have no friggin idea. I always imagined it would just pour out, guess my boobs aint ever gonna be that efficient lmfao It is funny though, the past two mornings I have woken up and my shirt is drenched from me leaking *giggles*

MT - welcome back! Great to hear Jett is sleeping well

Well I had a nice nap. I turned my heated doona on, got all cozy and crashed out for about an hour and a half. Woke up though as I got too hot LOL now waiting for the man to wake up. He has been really good this afternoon, I fed him at 3pm, put him down at 3:30pm he woke up at 4pm lol tried to settle him, he eventually went back down at 4:30pm and is still sleeping. Lets hope tonight is more settled, if he can do another 5hour block I will be very happy!

Still have my headache, took a couple of paracetemol before so am hoping they will kick in soon. Havent had alot of water today so am thinking that might have something to do with it aswell.

Well I'm off to find something to eat - hope everyone has a good night!

    hi everyone..
sorry for the delay. There is so many posts so ill get to the point and skip personals

dr said there is no foreskin issue but we arnt so convinced he also said come back in 9 months to see how things develop as josh has a not so straight winkie.
he got weighed and my heart just broke i feel like a useless mother i know i am not but i feel so blinkin aweful about this.In 3 days a weight gain of 10 grams, heck he could fart 10 grams out of wind out. I been so trying since his last weigh in on 30th of only 70 grams in 9 days........ i feel like everyone is being neglected in some way.
Josh obviously isnt gaining enough weight, the 3 kids are missing out on me time and so is hubbie and i am neglecting myself too. Its like the house is real mess and i cant keep that right i cant seem to win in any area!!. Josh does not go down for sleeps during day its all holding or 20 mins here and there.. he is not content normally just to look a round as he is a sleepy baby but no by himself
I am so so so disappointed 10 grams. :'( I think im just shocked by that patheticness of gain. Did not come away feeling any more reassured about josh's winkie he (dr) didnt even sound like he understood that we would be concerned. But at least he said his foreskin is fine. i guess

BTW we get pooey nappies every change!

Awww Squidipa - that must be so disappointing for you - but think of it this way - maybe 10g is all that is normal for HIM to gain, and you said he poos all the time - so he is just digesting all your good milk really easily - but is still being a little trooper!!!!! I think any weight gain is good... at least he's not losing weight IYKWIM? Try to keep your chin up honey. Let me know when you want me to come down and hold Josh for you so you can have a nap, or do some housework (I can help too!!) or just come down for a cuppa. Thursdays and Fridays are better days, just cos DS is in day care so I'll just have DD. But I'll come whenever you need me....

Sasha - a heated doona??? WTF??? I've never heard of that - but DAMN it sounds nice!!!

Hi MT - good to hear about Jett sleeping - pass some sleepy vibes over this way can ya? hehe

Leasha - we'll have to catch up another time. Just can't take the monster toddler out that late in the morning so close to his nap - everyone there would regret that I did so!! LOL.... Shel sounds like she's adjusting well to motherhood then Oh and I'm sorta bleeding if that makes sense... like... if I go diggin around with toilet paper there is blood on it... but not on undies.. pmsl...

Kiwi - I'm sure you are doing a GREAT job.. its natural to doubt yourself, but remember - nobody knows your baby like you do - so therefore you know best

Gudsim Your kindness is ovber whelming, I am feeling quite blessed just to have met you online. Thurdsay days for me are good days as the 3 year old is in care too. maybe we can arrange something for next week yeah? Gotta check with hubbie he didnt have plans k.

Been trying to get extra feed sin for josh altho my boobs are constanly soft soft like real soft. Dunno if stress is making this difficult i am doing a criminal compensation claim well infact 4 of them and this keeps me a bit outa sorts at times. Hubbie made me bacon and eggs last night for tea that was soooo good! I do feel the boobs filling up tho. Normally on his feeding times. I have to hunt my breast pump down gonna try to force my body to make more. Hubbie said he will try to look after me more like making sure im drinking enough too.

You call 8.50pm early??? LOL! I am usually dead to the world by that time!!!

Sasha - I envy your heated doona!! My bl00dy electric blanket ***** itself last night so I had to try to conserve my body heat!! But I didn't mind getting up to Veygas the four or five times he cried last night cause he has the heater in his room, so I spent about half the night holding him and dozing on the rocking chair!! Hopefully spring hurries up so I can wait six or so more months before buying a new leccy blankie!

Leasha - I'm sure you'll do fine being an at-home-alone mummy!!

Squidipa - HUGE hun, I'm sorry the doc didn't fully address your concerns. I agree with Mel, as long as he's not losing weight, I wouldn't worry too much. My ECH nurse said it is quite normal for babies to just plateau with their weight at times. I don't remember my DD putting on large amts of weight - 9 days after birth she had only put on 20grams and by 6 - 7 wks old she was 1kg heavier than birth weight ... I know it's hard but try not to stress honey!

    MT - Welcome back!!!!

Well, I gotta try to detach this velcro baby so I can get dinner started (yeah, early I know, but it's gotta be done now cause we have to be outta here by about 1.45pm for v's u/s and dp needs to eat (and prolly leave) before we get home, so try to gt it done while v is sleeping!

hope everyone is having a good day!

    Hi everyone!

Mel - a big thanks heaps for all your encouragement to everyone and to me and sasha - thanks too, nice to know I'm not the only one paranoid after a power chuck! I'm feeling relaxed about feeding him again now, just need to keep an eye on him in the evenings if he's getting greedy LOL.

My midwife was so lovely and encouraging yesterday - Eli is now 5.44kg and 61.5cm long!! Big boy LOL. He slept so well last night compared to the night before, yay! Slept 4 hours at night so I feel fantastic today. I think he may have a teeny bit of nappy rash (using disposables overnight) so will try air his bum out more before he has his baths.

I'm going to be sad to say goodbye to my midwife - only 2 more appointments before I'm under Plunket's care. Want to get her something nice to say thanks... trying to think of ideas.

I got my mum a homemade journal from etsy - ended up coming from Aussie To say thanks for all her help lately.

Vic - must be nice going into work and having a change of scene and some normalcy

MT - so glad you're back!! Jett is such a great name, love it!

Hey a question for you all I was curious about... when you gave birth, did you cry and get all emotional about your new baby? Or what was it that got you and/or your partners emotional (in a positive way!)?

For us, it was telling people Eli's name - and hearing other people say his name aloud. We hadn't told anyone (except for having it in a list on a poll here on BB!!) and I hadn't really called Eli by his name before he was born when I talked to him - wanted to see him first? Yeah so hearing people's responses to his name was a big deal and got us *both* emotional

Rachel - just being able to spend time together, just the 3 of us, to bond (having a big family, this was important to us) They docs and midwives left us in the delivery suite for about 6 hours after Veygas was born ... we got emotional trying to work out whose ears he had, looking at how long his fingers were and just watching him in general.

We have had some mixed responses about his name though! Lots of our "younger" friends think it's cool, but it really puts strangers (who like to look at other peoples babies) in their place ... they say he's adorable, ask his name and when I PROUDLY say Veygas, some say "as in Las Vegas?" like it's a stupid name, and others simply walk away without another word!! LOL!

    It sooooo suits him though!
