same with us...feeding hezaps more than normal...maybe when my supply catches up with her hunger she might settle down abit. for the first time today she had her feed and still wanted more....was sucking and sucking and i knew there was nothing left!! was wingy and looked at me as if to say ''seconds please''!!!

Sasha: Do you see a health nurse or doc for K...did they suggest you start solids? ive not been to see a nurse. wondering if she might be ready to start trying solids but dont know if i should talk to someone about it first!?

I'm hearing ya on the feeding stuff as well MT, sash and beck... I kind of got the feeling it was more for comfort. I was trying to get her down to 4 hourly feeds, but that so wasn't happening and for a few days she struggled to get to 3. But now she is back to normal and my supply is up so I'm ready to explode :o and she's like "i'm fine" :rolleyes:

Yeah, we have been having early morning wake ups here ... Veygas usually goes down about 6 - 6.30pm and goes through til about 6am (:dance:) but lately, he has been waking at about 3.30-4am and feeding both sides!! :o I have tried putting him to bed later but it has made no difference :rolleyes: It must be an age thing! LOL!

He woke up this morning alot better mood and eczema wise, so it leads me even more to think it was the IL's residual smoking ... seriously, how hard is it to go for a few hours without a bloody cigarette?????? (As an ex-smoker, I can say, it's not that hard at all!) I really hate stubborn people!!

On another note, yesterday when the kids were playing. Khaemon was being extra ultra loud, and out of the blue, DP says "With the next one, can we tick the volume box?" :o NEXT ONE!?!?!?!?!?!!?! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!! So I guess this means, even if we are not actively TTC, he won't be too put out if it does happen!! YAY!!!! I knew he'd come around! ;) LOL! He also made a comment about remembering their birthdates, and he said "And you want to confuse me with more?" hehehehe ... I think he realises that filling our lives with kids makes me happy!

Can you maybe get some info and show them? If there anything like my folks they wont read or listen anyhow. Its so frustrating even if they do smoke out side its all over there skin hair and clothes its so hard when i dont smoke it seems so ewwl of a smell.

Squidipa - yep, they won't listen, they are too stubborn! And yeah, I hate the smell too - sometimes I wonder how I ever smoked myself!! It just makes me sick and I hate how the smell lingers long after they've gone ... every place we have lived, we have made the rule that NO-ONE smokes when they are visiting but it's like everyone thinks we are only joking (my brother also smokes) But the other day, I saw a plaque referring to "please enjoy our smoking area ... THE BACK DOOR!" and I figured I could modify that to "Please enjoy our smoking area - YOUR PLACE!" Especially when it affects not only Veygas with his eczema, but Kaliah and her asthma too ...

:grouphug: for everyone having the middle of the night wakeups!! We are still doing at late feed, at about 10:45pm, this is getting us through to N first stiring around 5:50am but not feeding until 7.15-8.30am depending on the day..

Thanks MM, it was fab to get out of the city :) But :angry: at your IL's, oo that would make me sooo angry!!! But woot for "getting the go ahead" :dance: sooo we should get everyone to ttc around the same time hehe!!!

Another crappy night...up 10-11, 1.30-2.30, up at 5am! seems she cant go longer than 4 hours without a feed at night anymore. Had friends over last night and the night before so i havent been able to go to bed as early as id like.

And she has been down for ten mins and is awake again:wall::dunno::confused:

Beck we had a pretty bad night as well. For some reason she has decided that SHE WILL NOT GO TO BED at bedtime. I am starting to dread bedtime. last night I was having a nap and woke up at 7, gave her a bath, a feed (which usually puts her to sleep, but no) put her in bed, rocked her for half an hour, no not sleepy, in and out of her room rocking her when she cracked it, tried to feed her to sleep another two times without success. Finally she fell asleep in the PRAM, while I was rocking it with my foot like I do when we are out somewhere during the day. This was at 10.30pm so 3 hours after we started. I was beside myself. Then she woke at 4 for a feed. :wall: Sounds like everyone is going through this at the moment so wonder what it's all about. Just :pray: all these bubs pull their socks up and go back to normal.... today would be good!
sash yay for Kye being 20 weeks and loving his fruit. We gave DD some orange yesterday and she loved it (although I am sure I read somewhere you shouldn't give them citrus but I can't keep up with all the prohibitions :rolleyes:) and she loved it.

Jut wanted to give a big :grouphug: for Pixie and Beckoes, you are both really having a tough time at the moment. I hope it is just a short (very short) phase and that your little girls start behaving themselves!!

Today is pumpkin day for us, so far the apple, pear, zucchini and carrot are all going down a treat... I need to do up some more potato, carrot and a batch of sweet potato, then I hope I have enough for a while!!

Master V actually had a good night last night, hope he continues with it again! I'm pretty sure it's j=his eczema flare ups that make him irritable and not sleep properly ... but the rash has subsided heaps, his cheeks are just back to the little rosy teething rash (instead of his whole face being just about red raw!) and he only has a little bit of a rash in the elbow creases now ... But he is feeding alot more so perhaps having a growth spurt :dunno:

He STILL isn't rolling and STILL isn't interested in food (doesn't really phase me though) but maybe his body just realises that perhaps the foods I am trying are gonna affect his eczema??? DD was the same when she was a baby whenever I tried ANYHING dairy ...

Happy 5 months Jazz and Jett (and all the other bubs!!)

Where is everyone? No posts since this morning from Kiwigirl!!

Jett did another wake up night last night - 1.30, 4.15 and 7.45.... all point blank refusing the dummy and no other thing would do except boob!! Aaaagggggghhhhhh!! I'm not sure what to do with him. I still love him though - he's just too darned cute!

I am starting to get worried about his weight again. He gets weighed again next Monday and here he is at 5months and not fitting in to 3-6month clothes from Pumpikin Patch. They are still too big and fall off his shoulders!! He is happy, healthy and seems to be developing and reaching his milestones at the correct rate so I know in my heart everything is just fine. Just keep getting those nagging thoughts in my brain saying he was born at a weight above average, how come he is stuck on the 10th percentile now.... *sigh* End of stupid thought ramblings! Thanks for listening!

MT - maybe he's about to gain a huge amount with another growth spurt? Miss M is a slow grower too - so don't be overly concerned :)

TBH I haven't really tried that hard to resettle Beth cause I'm buggered at that time of night and just take the path of least resistance :redface: although last night she had a full 20 mins on the boob so :dunno: if you find out what's causing it let me know and I'll do the same! MT I'm sure Jett is doing fine, you might be surprised that he's gaining more than you think... I always am but then Beth is a chunk. I'm sure he'll catch up in his own time and in the meantime if he is healthy and happy you're obviously doing the right things.

Leasha, the other night I had a dream and you and Jazz were in it LOL. I can't remember what exactly but we were hanging out. Funny!

AF arrived yesterday :( I was sad because I don't enjoy it but then my friend was saying if you're getting lots of sleep at night, then you often get AF back... so I'd rather sleep at night than not have AF once a month. Who knows if it'll be regular either. I'm still fully BF and E hasn't started solids.

E learnt to sit up by himself really well while we were camping! So proud of him. He rolls over onto his side lots now while holding his feet but that's it. Figure he'll roll over more soon though.

Mel - hope the real estate agent you use is one of the few decent ones out there and it's not a drama to sell it :)

I feel like i have a newborn all over again!! feeding every 3 hours...for half an hour plus each time!! People telling me it either means she needs to start solids as she is hungry OR she is about to reach a big developmental milestone, so we will wait and see.

Hi All!!!

Been at work the last couple of days so working from home today, plus getting the house cleaned ;)

Nakita has been waking at 2am, 4am, 6am... but just for a dummy or re-wrap or nappy change :wall: So here's hoping that they are all just going through a phase!!

We just bought a Baker's dozen of ittibitti's d'lish, after receiving one for christmas (:)MT) so I am very excited, but I have decided to layby them (on a tighter budget at the moment while the house is getting built... might pay it off early though as I can't wait for more fluffy bums) as we are paying both mortages! At least the scafolding is down so they can finish the downstairs roof, get the rest of the double glazing in etc :)

Massive :grouphug: for MT an Rachel :pms: that is soo not fair!! I am still BF'ing with the last BF at 10:45pm with the next one around 7-8am.

Rach, MT what a bummer about AF! :doh: I don't know about getting alot of sleep being the sole cause though, as with DS2, AF arrived when he was 7 months, after 7 months of consistent 3 hourly feeds day and night ... however I had been toppig up his last feed before bed with formula from about 4 months (in the vain hope that he would sleep through! :rolleyes:) but it didn't stop him!! :wall:

This time however, no top ups and for the most part sleeping through .... though suffering insomnia so not really sleeping alot anyway!! :doh: I'm lucky if I'm asleep before 1am, then up at 6am ...:wall:

Bec - sounds like a growth spurt to me - Veygas was like that last week and has just settled back into sleeping through again, although he is still having an extra day feed now compared to before! :)

ETA: ok baby free now (lol) ... I have been finding that Veygas is only doing one poo during the night at the moment,only wet during the day, and this morning I was singing "night pooper" (to the tune of "Night fever") :rofl: The things we do when we are bored hey?

Pixie and Bec - I'm also taking the path of least resistance and feeding in the night. I try the dummy first, at least to try and keep him calm while I sit up in bed!! But he just won't allow it in his mouth atm. I really do hope this calms down soon!!

Bec - I wouldn't imagine that it's her needing to start solids. Needs to increase her calorie intake - maybe, but they don't have to have solids for this. Just do do whatever you think is right. I personally am not going to start solids until the back end of 6 months and even then I am going to keep bf as his main intake of calories as per baby led solids. That is of course assuming that all is ok at his weigh-in next week, otherwise I will have to reassess!

Mel - Goodluck with selling the house. Any particular reason hmmmmm? Something to do with your little secret hmmmmmm?

MM - Ahhh moving. We've been in our house for almost 2 years now and we still have boxes under the house that we haven't unpacked, I hate it so much!! I couldn't imagine it with kids around to amuse at the same time!

So as I was trying to say earlier, I woke up with AF, and then I didn't realise but we were up to poo day so Jett did an enormous stinky poo which was a bath job so that was the start of my day. And now the house smells like poo, and it is chilly here today so I can't open the house up. If it had have been yesterday on the other hand, when it was hot and I didn't have AF it would have been so much better!!!!

Oh well, end of vent.... things really aren't that bad, just felt like complaining!

ETA: MM :rofl: about Night Pooper! I love it!! We do the Nappy Time song to the tune of Snappy Tom - The butts of Australia have made their choice, Nappy Time, it's nappy tiiiiiime..." Sometimes butts gets changed to bubs! Aaaahhhh, I love it! Made up songs are just the best!

Congrats to all the 5 month olds and 20 weeks and milestones.

official weigh in is 190 gram gain, so thats good we are happy. ALOT smaller than otehr weeks but still good. he has grown 3.5cm in 4 weeks making him 64cm's now. Putting him finally on the graph. he is at 25%ile in hight and weight YAY! We got referral regarding his purple legs and my period came. Josh loves his feet going side to side and eating them. Loves his sweet corn but is not keen on kumera. He isnt eating a lot VERY small amounts once daily but always takes the food out of my hand when holding him yesterday he tried to eat my ham sambo.

Things are hecktic here house is like everywhere in middle of orgainsing EVERYTHING and soon will be full house but im looking forward to that as the kids are GREAT helpers ive lost about 1 kilo and hubbie has lost about 4 in last week. Gotta scoot.

Dont really have a whole lot of time as i got a appointment for passport applications so sorta gotta scoot but thought maybe someone might want to know how he is getting on.

We managed to cut out one of the night wakes last night! Didnt wake till 1am, then 3am then up for the morning at 4.45am but im happy with that! i actually managed to get 4 hours sleep in one solid block!! WOOHOO:dance:
Today she has started sitting on her own quite well, she loves her bumbo but i always give her a little go at sitting on her own, up till today it has been totally hopeless, sits for a few seconds if i ballance her right then falls over! today she sat for maybe a 50 seconds before getting to excited and flapping her arms about and going backwards!!
She has also started doing this high pitched yelling!! we were out in a furniture shop the other day looking at couches and she is yelling at the top of her lungs!! i thought it was funny, the shop assistants werent to keen!! ha ha...:rolleyes:

I took Beth up to the pharmacy to weigh her this morning and the baby nurse was there so got her measured as well.....
she is five months tomorrow and her weight is 7.7kg and length 66cm
so a real chunk she is very strong too, scared the baby nurse LOL
Not sure whether I should be giving her solids, so confused about all the advice re: solids and the baby nurse was the worst of all. she was saying because she is so big don't give her solids till six months, well she told the lady before me that she shouldn't give her baby solids cause she was so small (6.5kg) also she said that in five years they will be back to telling people to give solids at 4 months, to wait till she was 5.5 mths, to wait till she was 6 months bah! it's all too friggin hard! she said not to give her rusks till six months well i bought some at the supermarket and she loves them. so i give up listening to those people!
As for sleeping, she does sleep at night once I get her down, she was waking up once overnight this week but it seems to be a growth spurt and she slept through again last night. it's just such a battle to get her to take a nap or go to bed. Don't know what the story is and I keep doubting myself because it's such a struggle. for example she has just gone to sleep now after an hour of trying... I will have to wake her up soon because otherwise she won't sleep tonight.

Sitting down to maccas at the moment - whoops - there goes the diet!!

Had the real estate dude here earlier so that was good!!!! Reckons just do a little tidy up around the place and we should still get over $300 for it...

Rang the homeopath today cos we are almost out of drops for DD - she asked how she was doing, and I said that she is really bad in the bowel area - the only thing that is keeping her from being constipated all the time is having coloxyl drops 3 times a day. She told me to get her onto soy formula ASAP cos she thinks she is a little intolerant of dairy..

Hmm.. so far one bottle down.. so we'll see how she goes!!!!

To those norty babies that wont sleep - sleep chickens.. sleep..

Actually, we have great music playing in our kids rooms - its supposed to do something to their brain waves? And induce sleep? I so believe it works cos our kids sleep pretty damn well, and we have it playing in our room as well - and its sooo hard to wake up in the morning!!! If anyone wants a copy - send me a flashdrive and I'll copy it over.

Oh Pixie, Yay for getting Beth to sleep at night! I wish I had your luck. Yet again we had three room service calls last night!! I am exhausted in the morning. At the moment he is pretty much feeding every 3 hours, both sides around the clock! I hope this is a passing phase. Am trying to decide if this is a passing phase or not, and if it is how long for. I can cope if it is a couple of weeks but I really don't want to have it go on too long. I'm also wondering if he is waking up because he can smell my milk and decides he wants some... but then he must be hungry right? So I wonder should I put him in his cot now to remove the temptation.... in which case if he does wake up hungry then I will have to traipse down the hall through the kitchen all the way to his room, by which time I've properly woken up, and because it has taken me longer than 5 secs to get to him he will have properly woken up.... at least in my bed I don't wake up properly and neither does he. Or should I try giving him solids to put something heavier in his tummy (not in a hurry to, I like not having to think about taking food with me when I go out!! I want to wait until the back end of 6 months if I can)...oh the dilemmas!!

On a brighter note I have really noticed today how much more solid Jett is feeling. Doesn't seem to have extra fat rolls, but just feels heavy and solid and his chest seems more barrel like! So now looking forward with curiosity to the weigh in!! Makes a change from yesterday huh?

Pixie, I agree with the listening to these people. There is so much conflicting advice regarding these things and we feel the pressure to listen to them because this is supposedly their area of expertise, or they have more experience then us etc. We know and love our little ones and in doing so know instinctively what they need and what is right for them, but we seem to doubt ourselves and forget that we are the experts in our baby. We don't trust ourselves.... and why? Because someone who is following generic guidelines for all children tells us we are doing it wrong. Does anyone ever get told they are doing everything right and there is nothing they should change???? Surely not a single person is textbook.....

MT - Big :grouphug: hun! I wouldnt feel pressured into starting him on solids. As you say we are the experts with our babies, we know them best.
Hoping you get a good gain at weigh in, if not you can have some of K's extra kilos if ya want :rofl:

Pixie - Agree with you about all the confusion re: solids. I still question myself as to whether I should have K on solids or not. The nurse told me last time I saw her before xmas the same thing; to wait until K was 6 months because of him being big but I was finding he was getting to the 2hr mark and getting grizzly hence my decision to give it a go. I didnt want to keep pumping formula into him as there was a few days last week where he was drinking 1200ml for the day which to me is just wayyy too much considering he averages 200-250g gains per week when he drinks 900-1000ml a day. I guess I am paranoid about his weight, I dont want him to be an obese child that gets teased in school.

Rach - yay for Eli sitting up. Kye has progressed to being able to sit up now by himself and pick up his blocks and put them to his mouth which I thought was quite clever. You can see him really thinking about it though, I guess them having to learn to balance must be weird for them.

Anyways :hello: to everyone else - I gotta run, K is screaming for me to get him out of the jumperoo :lol:

ETA: K is also having broken sleeps. He's usually in bed by 8pm and sleeps through till 5ish but lately he has been finding it hard to go to sleep. Usually have to get up to him about 8:30pm and 9:30pm. Have trialled a few different things the past few nights to try and figure out what is causing him to wake up, when he woke up at 930pm I gave him water instead of milk and he gulped it down so conclusion he's dehydrated (even though he drinks like 150-200ml of water during the day LOL) Tonight if he does the same thing I'll do the same thing and see if he manages to last the night. Slept through until 4:10am this morning after having the water.

Well.....She slept from 6pm till 4am with only one wake up at 12.30!!!:dance:

So hopefully she is settleing back into a normalish kinda patern again!! I think the reason behind the unsettled period may have been a big developmental jump...she can now sit up on her own! which she didnt look like doing for ages two days ago! Can sit for a good few mins, play with a toy, look around the room and stop her self falling if she wobbles!!! :clap::clap: She is also making new sounds and doing many other little things that show she is taking the world in in a different way, you can see her connecting the dots!! Really amazing to watch!! Makes the sleepless nights and moments of stress and :wall: SO worth while!!!!:p

Oh Yay!! Jett only woke up once last night too!! Although we went to bed at midnight and had to wake him up to change his nappy and feed before moving him in to bed (he was asleep in his bouncer) and then he only woke up at 5.30 yay!! Then only one side instead of the two and straight to sleep again before waking up at normal time of 7.45am!! :clap:

I feel so much better after having a decent block of sleep again! Although I don't think he has hit any more developmental milestones just yet. Still stiffens himself out to stand so no chance of staying sitting! Although he is much more chatty and likes to 'sing' in the car!

Ok, I better get off here and go and hang my nappies on the line while it is still sunny!!

YAY!!! We had a better night too, so maybe our bubs are on the other side of the growth spurt/ wonder week/ whatever it was!

Well I think I jinxed myself ... after posting about "night pooper", Veygas has spent the last 2 days pooping EVERY nappy change :rolleyes: and last night NO POO!!! Oh well! He has also been really unsettled in the afternoons, not having a sleep and therefore, going to bed a bit earlier, but then waking up at 4am! :wall: Might have to trial a late afternoon sleep and then a later bath and bed time, but might wait til after we have moved .... :think:

Anyway, he's being a grizzle bum so I might put him to bed ... bbl!
