Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great NYE
I was trying to remember the last time I slept through midnight on NYE and it must have been about 20 years ago! We went to a family friendly BBQ earlier in the evening then made it home just in time for the monumental thunderstorm which left us in a black out! DP and his friend who was staying with us from Sydney headed off for a NYE party in the neighbourhood while Orla and I went to bed. An enourmous thunderclap woke us so we heard the fireworks and I knew it was midnight.
Ellee, what a pity you had to spend so much time apart from your DH over the holidays.
Issy, wow moving house - what a way to start the year! Good luck for a smooth move
Cheezel, sorry to hear you were sick too - what a bummer eh?
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone else
AFU, Orla started the year by rolling front to back I spose that's a bit cheating cos we put her on her belly to start with but I'm sure she'll go the other way soon. On the downside we've been battling with nappy rash everytime its hot (which is alot!). I'm so disheartened - I really want to use MCNs but I find myself using sposies so much with this rash - it really gets me down It all compounds my depression about Melbourne summers and being to hot to even go outside etc etc ....I'm over it and want to go home
OK enough wallowing in self-pity - off to the Cloth Nappy threads for some advice......
I have been so busy lately. My sister surprised the family on christmas eve by walking into my parents house with her hubby. She lives in London so it was a huge surprise. This has been thhe first year the entire family have been together in years. Thee kids had a great christmas. Baz even unwrapped a couple of present, of course all he was interested in was eating the paper.
Did everyone make new years resolutions? (sorry if I missed them I haven't caught up on everything I missed yet). Mine is to loose weight and get to goal, and also to get my P's for the car - am hoping to complete both of these things in the next couple of months.
Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've posted in here, I've been keeping up to date, I just haven't had the time to sit down and post! I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and New Years
Blueplanet - Welcome and congrats on your bub!
misty - What a lovely surprise for your family! I haven't made any new years resolutions, I always forget them so I didn't bother this year LOL!
koru - Yay for Orla rolling!! I hope you sort out the nappy rash, the poor little thing. I've slept through every new years since having children LOL!
A big hi to everyone else, sorry for no more personals!
AFU - Alana started rolling from her back to her front a few days ago so she can now roll both ways. She also pushes her bum up and gets onto her knees and tries to push herself forwards, eek! Luckily she can't get the upper half of her body up yet, I think we'd be in trouble if she could LOL! She blows raspberries constantly, has to grab EVERYTHING and loves to sing and squawk. Her sleeping has gone backwards and last night she woke up constantly. I'm guessing she's hit the 4 month sleep regression stage, I hope it ends soon! She has started biting me while feeding and constantly rubs at her ears when feeding so I think she may be teething, I guess time will tell.
We went away for 4 days over the New Year to Inverloch on the Vic coast. We had a lovely time, but I'm glad to be home in my own bed!
I hope you are all well, Alana is being grumpy on the floor so I'd better go and get her. Have a great day!!
NYE was very quiet here - it was 40 degrees during the day & we had DS sleeping in the kitchen!! Fell asleep at 11:50pm lol.
Am sooo worn out from DS these last few weeks. He is bored on the floor & just wants to be played with. Or just cuddled. If I don't he screams & carrys on - my ears are ringing!! Means not much is getting done around here. Or I'm up til 1am doing things because that's the only time I have
Plus he's teething & is going nuts gumming on anything he can get his hands on
On top of that his sleep has gone backwards. He used to be in bed asleep by 7pm without fail & would sleep until 5amish. Lately it's taken me 2- 3 hours to get him to sleep, he wakes up constantly crying & won't go back to sleep. Or he wakes up several times throughout the night giggling & squealing having a grand old time!! Aaaarrrgh I am seriously at my wits end!!
Oh & he alternates between feeding heaps or plain not interested. AND refuses to sleep when we're out anywhere. We were at a BBQ y'day & he didn't sleep the entire day, just cried & generally unhappy no matter what I did.
Whenever I complain about the last few weeks to anyone they just say "Oh he's just developing" or "Oh he's just finding his voice" I know all this!! It doesn't make it any easier to live through though.
On the flip side DS is giving us alot to laugh at - loves his new Christmas pressies & is starting to take more interest in the world around him.
Wow. I think I must have the world's best happiest baby ever - this time round. Seriously. Let's hope that doesn't mean he will morph into a terrible toddler, LOL. He is currently on the floor rolling from one end of the loungroom to the other and playing with everything he can reach. He gets up on all fours and rocks backwards and forwards, and it wouldn't surprise me if he started crawling this week - he is already trying, but just falls over when he tries to move his hands. He is so amazing, and so completely different to either of my first two. ALL babies should be as easy and happy as Seb.
Blueplanet - welcome. Look forward to chatting with you. What's your son's name? Trish - welcome back. Glad you had a nice break. Yay for A rolling! Sounds like she'll be crawling in no time. Can't remember how old L was when he started crawling. Cheezel - vent away! Just when you think you have it under control they go and start doing something new. The hot weather doesn't help either! Misty - sure sounds like Seb will be crawling soon. My resolution is also to lose weight. I'm sure a licence will be very handy running around with three kids. issy - Lochie is a great weight. Great that he puts his own dummy in. We still get up sometimes at night to our DS (2 yo) to locate and put his dummy back in. ellee - M had a great night last night - 7 hours straight. Mind you she'd hardly slept all day so she was pretty exhausted.
I think it really depends on your situation on the timing of the next bub. There is 21 months between DS and DD. In some respects it is good as there is a bit of a gap between them and they are at different stages and DS requires a lot less attention but in other respects bad because they are both still young, both still in nappies and DS does demand to be entertained etc. Also DS goes to daycare 4 days a week so I don't have to juggle both of them at home alone everyday. koru - how's Orla's nappy rash? I can imagine with the heat and cloth nappies that it is a recipe for a rash no matter how vigilant you are. Hope you get some solutions. mad4e - yay for long sleeps. What's your trick?
Hi to everyone else.
Nothing much happening here. M is gumming heaps and I am tempted to give her a rusk to gnaw on. I also think she's ready for solids but am holding out until she's 6 months. I will probably do vegie purees first and go from there. We started DS at 6 months but it was closer to 7.5 months before he really got into it. Anyone started solids yet?
Hiya all!
Welcome Blueplanet !
Misty - Wow what a fantastic surprise at Christmas Sounds like you got a super-chilled baby there too - enjoy! And almost crawling - Orla decided after rolling over 3 times on new years day she wasn't going to bother anymore! On the other hand she can 'sit' unaided leaning forward on her hands for a spell so I guess it's another case of 'horses for courses'
We're clearing up the nappy rash with antifungal cream (so far so good) but it's looking bleak for the microfibre pocket nappies - seem to get a resoundingly bad wrap for nappy rash prone kids (wish I'd known that to start with ) Can't afford to buy a whole new type and loathe to switch to sposies for good (though we've been using so many lately we may as well! grrrrrrr)
Ha! another 'me' post - reckon that should be my new years resolution - MORE PERSIES!!! (a challenge for us self-centred Aries
blueplanet - welcome koru - sorry to hear about the nappy rash hope it gets better soon misty - my nyr is also to lose weight ( my goal is 10kg but will be happy just to lose 5), me and dp are off to join the gym this arvo while my sis babysits saffi - we've started solids here as ds was watching, mouthing and would almost cry everytime me or dp would eat infront of him, it has also helped with him sleeping nthrough the night.
ok,ds has been sleeping through the night for almost 2 weeks now its been great
we have been sitting up on our own now and have just started to try and roll, he can get onto his side but falls back onto his back, but he loves being on his tummy whenn we roll him over . xmas was good, ds was really excited to open his prezzies but of course he was way more interested in eating the paper.
Heylo everyone!
Sorry for being MIA - i'm a slacko!
hope everyone had a fantastic new years and christmas. I had my family down so it was awesome!
Eli is now rolling around everywhere, getting up on here knees and hands and also her feet and hands and tryin to get around, she can only go backwards atm. But she is trying hard! she is now sittin as well! very clever little princess
Eli has started solids, and is much happier on them. she loves her food!
she is still a bugger when it comes to sleeping during the day, she only ever cat naps. but makes up for it at night with 6 to 8 hours
I know i have dropped off the radar for several months...unfortunately my DP's sister was tragically killed a few months ago and I am only now finally beginning to resume some semblance of a normal life again, not that life will be the same again.
On a positive note, baby Max is fantastic baby, which has been a blessing, people remark that he is one of the happiest babies they have ever encountered, and I know I am very lucky, especially these past few months. He has two teeth now, but has only started to roll back and forth the other day.He says ba ba and da da sounds, and tries to clap his hands together which is so adoreable. He is sleeping pretty well, he has 2 naps a day and sleeps from 8 to 7, give or take.
I won't even attempt to reply to personals as it would take me several hours, lol...I'm glad to see that everyone has had a great xmas and NY. I didn't make it to midnight either, I pretended 11pm was midnight, and went to bed!
Look forward to catching up with you all again!!!
Misty - that would have been a lovely surprise. I love spending time with the whole family at Christmas. Good luck with your new years resolutions... I could lose some weight but alas I haven't made one.
Koru - glad to hear the nappy rash is subsiding. It can be a right pain can't it. I am selling my stash... not sure what the linings are. I have only listed the smalls and newborns so far but I have mediums and large to list as well. If you are interested let me know and I will send the list through to you.
mad4e - your DS is doing so well!
Cass_Blob - Go Miss E!! DD is the same with her day sleeps
Trish - glad the break was nice.
Cheezel - any teeth broken through yet? Vent away - that is what we are here for.
Issy - hope the move went well. We aren't sure about when we will start considering number 2... we are just playing it all by ear at the moment.
Saffi - we've not started solids, with DD being early I am a bit remiss on how to start... I talked it over with the nurse and I have decided we will try at 6 months and if she isn't interested then we will keep trying. I am planning on doing baby led solids (BLS)
Salboo - I am so sorry to hear of your SILs passing. Wow two teeth11
AFU - we made midnight on NYE and then went to bed about 1am it was nice. I was a bit tired the next day but we didn't have much planned anyway so we just relaxed at home. Christmas was good. DD got SO MUCH stuff, I am still trying to pack it away. DD is going well. She is rolling now and as I mentioned above we are planning to start BLS when she is 6months. I have become involved in my local ABA group and am going to start training as a breastfeeding counsellor as of February '10 and I can't wait! Not much else to report... at last weigh in, DD was 6.5kg... from my arms, I think she may have broken 7kg but will find out next week
Hi all
So good to hear from you again Salboo - it must have been a difficult time for our family.
TK - I would be interested to see what your nappies are made of thanks I'm going to try Orla in the Itti Bittis again during the week (when this latest heatwave subsides!) to see if she can handle the suedecloth. We'll go back into the bamboo night nappies too
Saffi - thanks for your reply on my poo question. I reckon Orla's poo is more acidic too making the nappy rash harder to clear. I reckon we'll go the BLS route too. Orla's definately interested in food - or at least playing with mine!
Hello to everyone else
salboo- so sorry to hear about your SIL. Max sounds like he is doing fantastically well. tk - yay for becoming an ABA counsellor. Does that mean you will go on the phones or just support people locally? Cassie/mad4e - hopefully solids will mean M will sleep a little better LOL. Going to try her on some rusks just to help her with the gumming that she is doing. Willow - hiya! koru - hope some teeth break thru soon.
Hi to everyone I've missed.
We are going well. Weighed M today and she is now 7.28kg. This puts her around the 75th percentile for weight so a chubby bubby.
M had some photos done with one of those shopping centre photographers this morning. The shots I saw look so good. I can't wait until they are ready to be picked up next month. They were the first professional photos we've had taken of her. Thinking I should get some of DS and of both of them. Maybe not....
Hope all of you in the southern states are surviving the hot weather.
Misty - Seb sounds adorable!! Has he tried crawling again?
Saffi - thanks & you're right the hot weather doesn't help at all. DS is sleeping in the kitchen again today As for solids, don't know about DS but I'm certainly not ready!! I'm dreading it!! We'll be starting with the purees when we do begin though.
Koru - sorry to hear you're having trouble with the nappies But how exciting about the sitting up!! Yay to Orla!!
Mad4e - Yay for sitting up to your DS too!! And sleeping through - awesome.
Cass - another one on the move!! Good on ya Eli
Salboo - so sorry to hear of your SIL, it must be a very hard time for your family atm.
TK - nope no teeth yet, I can feel them though so hopefully they'll break through soon Good on you for becoming a BF counsellor, well done!!
Willow - hi
AFM this week has been an improvement. DS has finally sorted out his sleeps!! Now having a late night feed & going through to 6am, plus days sleeps have started up again. Going to sleep on his own too!! So turned a corner there Poor kid wants to sit up but can't so gets very frustrated!! Does stomach crunches & lifts his feet up at the same time with this determined look on his face - it's pretty cute. But still very bored if I'm not actively playing with him. He's very expressive too which makes us laugh.
Hiya ladies, long time no post! Life has been really busy lately - happy New Year to everyone.
Issy - GL with the move, hope it goes well. Glad Lochie enjoyed his first Xmas
Ellee - Glad we're not the only ones who feel that way! You are so right, there are so many schiesters out there when it comes to buying cars. I love car shopping too as does DH LOL and yes we have looked - and bought too oops! A brand new Subaru Forester - can't wait to get it. Oh and I saw the Aug 2010 Belly Buddies too - a bit freaky isn't it? I'm so glad to hear you paed visit went OK too.
koru - Yay Orla for rolling! You're right it won't be long, E perfected hers over Xmas too within a few weeks of doing it for the first time. Oh no about the nappy rash What sort of inners are you using? Could they be the problem maybe? (sorry to lazy to check the cloth nappy threads LOL) Oops sorry just saw your last post, have you tried fleece liners at all? And what wipes do you use too? I can't use disposbale ones on E without her rashing either.
misty - GL with the New Years resolutions Glad you got such a lovely surprise for Xmas.
Trish - Sounds like a lovely holiday I feel your pain with the sleep regression too - E has been the same for the last few weeks now too, although the last couple of nights she has only had 3 feeds (only!). I hope Alana sorts her sleeping out soon for you, must be hard with 2 other littlies to look after.
Cheezel - Hope things improve for you soon, must be hard to go from sleeping well to not much. ETA, glad things have improved this week.
Saffi - E is gumming heaps too. But we're going to wait until 6 months - I think she is not quite ready yet although she is getting quite interested in watching us eat.
mad4e - Yay for sleeping through the night!
Cass - What a clever girl sitting already! Very impressive
salboo - Welcome back and I'm so very sorry for your family's loss
blueplanet - Hi and welcome!
tk - Yay for training as an ABA counsellor - good luck! Well done on making midnight on NYE, I did too but unintentionally LOL was woken up by some drunken yobbos downstairs on our holiday!
Hi to everyone I've missed, hope you are all well.
AFU, heaps has been happening. E has 2 teeth now, they arrived over Xmas Unfortunately for me though she has already grazed my nipple with them while pulling off the boob, so feeding is a bit ouchy ATM. She is grabbing and playing with everything she can get her hands on now and blowing rasberries too - thanks to her big sister. She is rolling really well now and loves sleeping on her belly now which I have to admit freaks me a little. We had a lovely Xmas and time away in Port Douglas and just got back on Mon - wish we could afford to buy a place there it is fabulous! Really hot though and both girls absolutely loved swimming there. But E's sleeping has gone to pot lately, she just wakes so often at night that I have stopped keeping count, its too depressing. But the last 2 nights have been a bit better, so fingers crossed! And I'm picking up my new Forester on Wednesday too yay just hope I'm not too tired to make the drive down to Sydney.
Saffi - once my training is finished I will be on the helpline it is some time away yet but it already kind of freaks me out that I could be the other person on the end of the telephone line. I will also be available for people in my local area to contact directly. Great weight!
Cheezel - Sleeping in the kitchen... interesting... though we all slept in the loungeroom as it was just too hot anywhere else. DD has been doing her 'sit-ups' as well - so cute!
Megsmum - two teeth! Ouchies on the nipple... that is one thing I am dreading. new car... so envious! Hope the sleeping settles for you soon.
AFU - lots on this week... today I sent out the invites for DDs christening next month and paid for the venue for the gathering after. Tomorrow we have swimming lessons and my best friend is coming along, then Wednesday catching up with a friend, Thursday sorting out more details for DDs christening and a visit to the clinic. Then Friday a Sydney BB meetup... LOL I am tired already! DDs sleep is good - very good actually. She usually goes down sometime between 9.30pm and 11.00pm and then usually wakes between 5.30am and 7.00am.... the times vary each day but it is a good chunk of sleep. She hasn't woken overnight for a few weeks now... I am dreading how I will be if she regresses
Big hellos to everyone!
