Hi girls,

Tippytoes - Thankyou so much my darlin'. I didnt even realise it was 6 months today...BAD MUMMY!!!!! Sooooo forgetful! Happy 6 months my beautiful Lochie, we are soooooooo in love with you!

AFU - Lochie is doing much better at night now that I have decided to crack down on his repetitive waking episodes. I only feed him once (like I used to) and refuse to feed any other time during the night. I have been leaving him to whinge (he only whinges, never really cries) and so far, he has gone back to sleep on his own and both days I have been doing it for, he has woken at 7 instead of 6 and wakes happy...playing in his cot! I hope t continues to get better, although im sure teeth are around the corner and this will be causing some sleepless nights...ahhh well.

This post was supposed to be posted earlier, but the day got soooo busy! So I realise my persies are behind....but I promise ill get back to it!

Megsmum - Yeah I know you can take some antibiotics, I have been on amoxylin (or whatever it is called) before - unfortunately the tooth infection I have will only react to this certain type of antibiotic apparently. And my dentist was not particularly caring about the breastfeeding, but that's another vent. Oh well, by this time tomorrow night I should be able to breastfeed again. And it was nice not having to get up last night, because DH gave Baz the bottle.

Misty - Yeah I thought you probably did That is such a bummer about the dentist, what a PITA not considering that you are BF. At least like you said it is not for too long, I absolutely HATE pumping LOL Hope the tooth is better today at least you got a good rest.

Hey guys
Just a quick question... Eli has decided to start pulling himself up on things to stand up! He can now this by himself . He has also decided to start 'cruising'???? I think it is called (You know when they hold onto stuff and walk around??). Anyway, it makes me soooo nervous. He has also tried to stand up randomly in the middle of the room - holding onto nothing!
Question is - is there anyway I can minimise him hurting himself - he is falling over a fair bit. He doesn't cry all the time but ouch!
Also, I am at a bit of a loss about what to do at nightime. Last night he only woke twice which was great! But I think I maybe feeding him too much at night??? I am so lost guys. And I am also tired!

You and me both! Same thing is happening here but to be honest, I'm just going with it for now cause I'm not sure what else to do. I think at 6 months two feeds over night isn't totally unreasonable so that's what I'm doing.

I cannot believe he's standing and cruising already That's super early I think. I don't have any advice about preventing him from hurting himself, I don't think there's much you can do. Is he crawling? If you sat him in the middle of the room away from furniture could he still make his way over to it to pull himself up?

I know I've had 2 older kids but mine were about 8 months I think before they started pulling themselves up and cruising etc.

Oh Willow thanks for replying...the thing is he is feeding a lot more than twice - I think it is partly my fault as I am so tired I am just feeding/comforting him to put him back to sleep! He has a rash at the moment too! So off to dr.s at some point today to get it checked - he is being a 'grumpy bumpy' - which is what I call him when he is grumpy .
Also, yes he is crawling, pretty quickly too and sitting up really well. All day he seems to go from crawling position to sitting - I think he feels clever . I guess it is pretty early to be cruisng and stuff but he just wants to be on the go all the time! Tiring for mummy

Yep, that is what I thought - oh well we'll get there in the end!

Rach - wow Eli is a boy on the move! I'm sure you've done all of this already like move anything that is dangerous, put up safety gates to any areas you don't want him to access etc. Bubs are a lot hardier than you think and the bumps and bruises are all part of growing up. By the time he reaches 2 there won't be a single limb that doesn't have a bruise, scratch, sore etc LOL.
re feeding - taking M into bed was a trap I got into. While it meant I could sorta sleep she was feeding all night and using me as a comforter. So I've decided that if she needs a feed I will just sit up in bed with her.
grumpiness - could he be teething? Where's the rash? My DS used to get a rash when he was teething. But best to get it all checked out JIC.

#2 tooth coming through here. Going pretty well with the routine. I won't brag about her overnight sleep last night but I am hoping that she continues it tonight. Went to an info night at her daycare and met the carers and some of the other mums and bubs. All the kids were so much bigger and more active than M. Going to try sweet potato tomorrow.

Baz has been doing this as well. Luckily we have carpet, so it isn't that bad (I say this because I got to see the results of my first two falling down on tiles - not good, and one of the reasons I am sure, that Nate didn't walk until 16mths). The only thing I can suggest is to try and make sure it is on a soft surface (ie carpet or blankets or foam mats), otherwise try not to look. Not much help, am I? It is all part oof the learning process (even if it does give us mummies a heartattack in the meantime).

Tippytoes - Did the Dr (I assume a GP?) suggest you don't feed him at all at night? What was his/her reasoning for that? Sounds a little full on to me and I understand why you're nervous! I know I need to stop feeding DS at night eventually but they are only 6 months old and not yet fully established on solids.

Anyway, not trying to contradict the advice you were given and I hope it works well for you. But just wanted to say don't be too hard on yourself if it isn't smooth sailing, especially if he's not well kwim?

Thanks for your help Willow. Basically GP was saying that they don't really need to fed throughout the night... He actually said technically speaking they don't need to feed throughout the night from about 8 weeks. Now, I must say I have a great GP and he is very knowledgable about BF and babies. But I don't agree with that - but that's cool. He is just trying to help. He did suggest controlled crying - not really my cup of tea - but DS has ended up crying tonight anyway . Just going to try to comfort him back to sleep when he wakes up so frequently.
I was talking to issy about this too. GP was saying bubs was waking cause he wants a feed cause he is used to getting one IYKWIM. I think issy gives lochie one feed around 3amish. I was hoping to reduce te number of feeds, cause trust me DS is just getting more cause he can. I mean I was feeding him each time we woke up . So sometimes 5 times throughout the night. I would be happy to just do a couple... I am just struggling to get up 5-6 times a night. I don't think he needs that many. Does any of that make sense So I guess I am just trying to reduce the number of feeds so DS doesn't think he can just wake for booby all the time... Thanks again Willow
