Willow - Yeah we can't wait either should be excellent. Glad to hear your kids did OK on your trip away, I'm not too worried about DD1 she is already looking forward to going to "the holiday house" as she calls all our holidays LOL, just E and the plane flight and drive down to Sydney eeek! But I figure if we don't just bite the bullet and do it, it could be ages till we go anywhere again.

tk - GL at the clinic on Thurs and all the best to your sister. Oh NO about the nappies, I don't know what I would try, never had that problem myself - maybe a fleece liner to keep her bum dry like in a sposie - if you haven't tried that already?

Saffi - Yeah we never went away with DD1 until she was over 2 either but we took her to Singapore last year and she loved it - just give her somewhere with a pool and she's happy as larry LOL But yep hearing you on the air con, I'll die without it! Hope you got the card making done

issy - Hey there - good to see you again and welcome! Glad to hear that you and Lochie are doing well, sounds like you have had a rough time.

koru - Our centre lets them start swimming at 4 months, but that will be Dec and holidays for us (the centre is closed except for swimming camps for bigger kids which DD1 does over school hols) so I'm starting E when it reopens next year. Got her the cutest little 00 swimmers to wear on our holiday though Glad the Bumbo is a hit.

    Hi everyone else!

AFU - OMG have we had a couple of bad nights or what Night before last was so hot that E wanted to feed all night, and last night I just dunno - wouldn't settle after DD1 woke us all up because she needed to do a poo LOL Anyway E was up at 12.30, 2.30 (with DD1), 4.30 and 5.30 and 6.30 so I think I'll be heading off for a few zzzz's as soon as E does! I'm so not looking forward to the hot weather that is ahead in the next few days. And we had the biggest oh yuck incident on the weekend - E did a big poo and when I was changing her she stuck her hand down into it, then wait for it, went to put it straight in her mouth eeeeeewwwww!! Luckily I caught her hand before it got there LOL

MegsMum - Hope you got a sleep in today. Perhaps E is going through a growth spurt? The MCHN told us that they go through one at this stage. Yaaay for the holiday! Glad to hear you managed to stop the hand hahaa

Willow - Hope you hear some positive information from the paed tomorrow. Glad to hear Bubba D is a happy baby... aren't they just the cutest.

Trish - Thanks soo much for the bicarb idea. I think it is helping, have done it for 3 days now. The kiddopottomas wraps are great aren't they. I have 2 but need to get some in the next size up. Hope Alana gets better soon.

Tk - Hope you had a safe trip to see your sister and that she is doing as well as can be expected. Did you have any luck with the cloth nappies? Good luck with the clinic

Saffi - Christmas presents... I have no idea what to do, even though she is our first lol. How'd you go with the card making? I really wish I was creative.

Misty - I never knew about the worms on the cat fur... we've been thinking of re-homing our cat. Sad but I think it is for the best given our climate and her long malting hair. It's too hard to have her in the house with DD now.

Koru - glad to hear the bumbo is a success. We were thinking of getting one. DH parents got a fisher price portable high chair booster seat thingy hahaa but its hard plastic and I'm not a fan of it for this stage

Issy - Welcome. Good on you for sticking it out with the bfing. Lochie sounds like such a happy baby and a healthy one at that DD was 5.1kg at 14wks last week (but she was born at 36+6).

AFU: We've had a rough week TBH. My sisters 2wk old baby underwent open heart surgery on Monday which was a big shock, and things were not looking good. But happy to say that things are going great and she had her first feed since Friday today So very scary! Miss Z & I have had a cold which has been more frustrating as it prevented us from going to support my sister. I'm nearlly over it but Z is still coughing and sneezing - never thought something so little could produce so much snot hahaa. We visit the paed tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm in denial but I don't think she has issues with her gross motor skills.

She loves her bath time and I look forward to putting her in swimming lessons ASAP. It seems strange but she already has developed opinions on nursery rhymes and songs - she hates "the wheels on the bus" but absolutley loves me singing "heads and shoulders, knees and toes...".

I bit the bullet and ordered a jumperoo online the otherday when they were on sale. Also some more books. I would like to say these are for christmas but don't really want to wait another 5 wks to use them.

Anyway sorry for yet another long post. I've been slack with popping in this last week and DH is on night shift so I'm feeling a bit lonely. Hope you're all well and not melting in the heat

ellee - My thoughts go out to your sister and family, that must be hard to go through.

Well I am exhausted, I haven't had much sleep over the past two nights. DS1 has been keeping everyone awake screaming in pain. He has some illness, which we are waiting on blood tests and urine samples for, to try and fifure out what is wrong. And last night, DH had to take him to emergency - he now also has an acute middle ear infection.

It is supposed to be the baby keeping me up at night, not the 2yr old. The baby is sooo happy and easy - thank god because it seems like everyone else just requires so much energy and attention since bubs has been born.

Can I ask what size clothing everyone's bubs are wearing? Just curious. Baz is in a size 0.

    Wow been busy in here!
Welcome Issy - glad to hear your perserverance with BF paid off
TK - you probably considered this already but are the leg holes too tight on the nappies? Hope you get to the m 'bottom' of it !
Ellee that must have been an awful experience for your sister to go thru - will her baby need ongoing meds etc for the heart condition or did the op fix it up? My SIL has a heart condition and is on meds - doesn't stop her doing competitive cycling tho!
Orla hasn't been weighed in ages (was 5.1 kg at 10 weeks) - so hard getting an appt at my local MCHN . she's still comfortably in size 000 so I'm guessing she hasn't topped 6kg yet - tho in this heat she's drinking heaps!
What are everyone's tips for getting bubs to sleep in the heat? We don't have a/c in the bedroom unfortunately so the fan has to do. My mum said she used to wrap an icey cold face cloth round my feet to draw heat from my head (we lived in California when i was a baby) - not sure if I'm game to give that a go!

    Hi everyone!

What a shocking time we've been having LOL! Alana has been increasingly harder to settle off to sleep over the past few weeks, by last night I was at my wits end. She screamed/fought sleep no matter WHAT I did. I tried rocking her, bouncing her in her hammock, walking her around, feeding her, wrapping her, unwrapping her, you name it, I tried it! After about 3 hours she finally fell asleep while feeding. Then this morning she started right up again, refusing to take a nap. It's awful when she won't even calm down with me cuddling her. I rang our paediatric chiro and got an appointment thank goodness, it turns out her neck is out. No idea how it went out of whack, but it looks like this could be causing our probs. The chiro said it is not normal for her to stay unsettled for so long (I kinda knew that LOL) and that she is clearly in pain. The poor little thing . I'm taking her back on Monday for another check up. But luckily when we got home she settled really easily to sleep and has been asleep for the last hour and a half. Hopefully once we have her neck sorted, she'll be back to normal. She's so happy and smiley when she's having wake time, then as soon as it's bedtime she becomes hysterical.

Sorry to launch off on a huge "me" post LOL! I think I just need to debrief.

Koru - The heat's awful isn't it? I just have a fan in Alana's room. We have an old airconditioner in one of our living rooms, but it doesn't really reach her room. Hmmm...don't know if I'd be keen to try the cold face cloth on the feet!

misty - Your poor DS , he must be in so much pain. I hope he gets better really soon. Alana is still in 000's.

Ellee - I'm glad the bicarb is working for you . It is so cheap! Gosh, it must a scary time for your family atm. I'm glad your sister's bub has come out of surgery OK.

megsmum - I hope you get a bit more sleep soon! It's so tiring, especially when you have another child to care for. I am soooo jealous that you are going to Port Douglas! It is my most favourite holiday destination! We've been there twice and absolutely love it. It will be very hot there just after Christmas, I hope you are staying somewhere with a pool!

Willow - I hope all goes well at your appointment today. I'm thinking of you guys . Let us know how it goes.

Saffi - You're so clever being able to make cards! I don't know when I'd find the time (and lets not mention the fact that I'm not talented anyway LOL).

TK - I hope your clinic appointment goes well today, Caitlin sounds like she is doing really well

Issy - I'm so glad you've joined us in here! That's awesome that Lochie has gotten the hang of BF'ing! Well done on all of your hard work

Hi to everyone I've missed, I hope you're all doing well!

Ellee - to your sister, and her family and you, so very glad to hear that bub is doing well, how awful! GL at the paed today. I think you may be right about the growth spurt too, that was what I was thinking as well, she has settled down again the last few nights, but we'll see tonight - its very hot here today!

misty - We're in 000, but very soon to be 00. She's growing in length really fast.

koru - I'd try a fan too I think, we have a/c so its not a major issue for us luckily. Don't know about the icy cold cloth would maybe try it cool though - dunno!

Trish - We certainly are! DD1 would disown us if we didn't LOL Glad to hear Port Dougls is great from you and Saffi. Poor Alana, hope the chiro does the trick.

Willow - Hope the paed appt went well.

AFU, had a bit more sleep the last couple of nights yay! She's gone back to the normal 2 feeds. Dunno about tonight though, its very hot here today and she has been really thirsty so far and had some big feeds. We went out to take DD1 swimming this morning and it got up to 44, poor little E was in a lather of sweat. At least its back down to 35 now and we're at home in the air con. Hope everyone else is doing well today

Misty - how is DS1 going? Hope you got answers and he is feeling better allowing you to get some rest. DD still wears mostly 0000 but starting to get to 000 for the all in ones because she has long legs. My friends 8wk old is in 00/0 and 7kg. Amazing how all bubbas are soo different just like us I guess.

Koru - I don't believe that my niece will need ongoing meds. Just 12 monthly check ups to make sure everything is still fine. We're lucky to have the entire house aircon'd although wouldn't live here if it wasn't!

Trish - Poor Alana! Hope that her neck is improving and you have your happy girl back. It's terrible when they're sick isn't it.

MegsMum - 44 that's crazy hey. Little bubbas are apparently less tolerant of the heat too. It's frustrating because I used to walk twice a day but it is just getting too hot. Glad to hear you've got some sleep

AFU - Turns out the MCHN was totally wrong. No issues with her gross motor skills infact the paed said she is doing really really well. She is rolling over all the time now from tummy to back and has done back to tummy couple of times but not much. Her Plagiocephaly isn't good. The paed said it was good that i pushed the issue (MCHN kept telling me her hair will cover it!). We are going to start intense physio as she has torticollos which is making our positional efforts pointless. Apparently left untreated she would have developed right side of body but not left. Also her eye sight development would have had problems. So go's to show gals... Mothers instinct is spot on!!! There is talk of a correctional helmet if the shape doesn't imrove before she is one.

DD has been quite unsettled of an evening lately and I've had a bit of cabin fever with her being sick and DH been on night shifts. So was lovely to get out and meet up with some of our mummy friends this morning.

Hope you have a great weekend with your families

Ellee - you have to wonder about these MCHNs. Not saying that gross motor skills aren't important but the other issue is so much more serious and yet she dismissed it totally. Good that you have some answers and can now do the right treatments.
Trish - didn't know A was giving you grief. Hopefully the treatment has put her right.
koru - have you tried the washer idea? Sometimes the old remedies are proven to help.
misty - how is DS1 doing now?
megs - I'd love to walk more too but its getting too hot and humid here and will only get worse.
tk - how's your sister doing?
    issy - hi
Hope I didn't miss anyone, if I did hi!

Immi is in 000 and weighs 5.97kg. I was a bit surprised to see on the growth chart that she is under the 50th percentile. She seems much bigger.

    Hello girls & bubs!!

Well it's been quite awhile since I posted in here, have no idea where the days & weeks disappear!!
Am not even going to attempt personals today, just wanted to touch base. Peter is doing very well, almost weighing 7kgs & about to go into 00 clothes. (To answer misty)
He has turned out to be quite an easy bub, wouldn't have thought it if his first 6 weeks were anything to go by lol.
I hope all is well with everyone, look forward to chatting more often.

    Morning girls.

Our appt with the paed on Thurs went well. His scans all came back normal His hips are totally fine but his head circ is quite literally off the charts (his brother was the same) so we need to monitor his head growth, we see the paed again in 3 months.

He is a whopping 7.9kg and 64cm! Weird thing is, he can still fit in to some 000s but is mostly in 00s

Misty - How big is Baz?? I think D is the biggest bub in here and he isn't in 0s yet...wonder if it's because he's a bit shorter or something??

Ellee - Glad to hear that little miss isn't having any gross motor issues, sounds like she is doing well in that department with all that rolling. We are starting to roll from back to side but that's about it. Sorry to hear about her head though (I can empathise ), even though you are on top of it, it is worrying when things like this happen with our little bubs. I haven't even taken D to see a MCHN, not once! We've been seeing his paed regularly enough that I just haven't bothered with it. I think I only took DS1 once. DS has also been unsettled of an evening the last week or so. I took him away for the weekend and he was a perfect angel, get him home and it's back to unsettled Doing my head in a bit but he is seriously so great every other time that I can't complain.

Trish - How is Alana doing? Has she settled a bit?

Well as I said, I spent 4 days in Adelaide over the weekend and DS was just great the whole time we were away! Slept on the plane and settled and slept really well the whole time we were there.

Starting to get tired with his night shenanigans, but hopefully it will pass soon.

    Morning all!

Willow - great that D was given the all clear. He is growing so well from the sounds of it. Immi is practically rolling. Like D she can roll on her side but just can't make that final move over her arm. She gets really frustrated by it too.
Cheezel - hi there! Good to hear that Peter is now more settled and you are enjoying motherhood.

Hello to everyone else. Hope you are all well.

Anyway, Immi is calling out for a feed or something so gotta go.

Misty - hope DS is better now . DD is in a mix of 0000 and 000, she seems to be getting into more and more 000 but some of her 0000 still fits.

Koru - checked the leg holes and they are ok... I have NO idea what it is... argh! With the heat we just lived downstairs - including sleeping on a mattress on the floor because we also don't have AC but we do have a portable AC unit (though I wonder how much it does).

Megsmum - glad you got more sleep. Eek @ those temps.

Ellee - sorry to hear about your sister & bubs. Glad that the MCHN was wrong.

Saffi - hope things are going well

CheezelMonster - glad things have settled down for you.

Willow - glad that the appt went well. I think you just make big bubbas! Bonham told me that you guys are very supportive and a godsend to her during this time. I am so thankful for all the BB gals.

Trish - Glad that the chiro was able to help. Eek does not sound like fun with all that unsettled period.

    Issy - welcome!

Hello to anyone I may have missed!

AFU - Caitlin now weighs 5.8kg and gained 100g in 4 days there at one point LOL. We are doing really well apart from the cloth nappy situation. I have tried various fabrics against her skin and she screams blue murder... I have no more ideas and am currently considering selling my stash because it is not worth the screaming and me feeling guilty that I have nappies but can't use them... but then I think maybe she will grow out of it and actually not scream at one point so I am not sure! Not much else to report.

How is everyone going in the lead up to Christmas?

    Hi Ladies,

Misty - Bub is in mainly 00's but 0 also fits. He never fit 0000's (he was 4.1kgs, 9lbs2oz) so they were put away straight away. He was in 000's for a few weeks, but nothing in that size fits anymore. I bought him some suits from pumpkin patch yesterday and chose the 6-12 months size thinking that they will be a little roomy to wear under things when autumn comes around, but they fit perfectly now so dont know how long they will last. He has just gone 3 months on Monday, and is 7kgs already, so im thinking I have a big bubba compared to others in here...he takes after his father who is VERY tall and has a big build.

Saffi - Hi, Rach is going great! Little Eli is not so little anymore, he is bigger than Lochie at the moment and is also just gone 3 months (14wks). He is just delightful, big chubby bubby and LOTS of hair, which forms this hilarious mohawk just like his little friend Lochie. They are quite the pair when they are together (they have a play date once a week), chatting away to eachother and smacking eachother in the face. Eli is rolling over and sleeping like a trooper! He is also a very chilled baby like Lochie. And ofcourse Rach looks fantastic and is absolutely loving motherhood...she is a natural!

Ooooops, I was going to do some more persies, but bubba duties call...morning nap is over! My 40 minute wonder boy is awake! Will hopefully get back in here later and write some more.

Hi to everyone and thankyou for the warm welcomes!

    Hola everyone!
Just popping in to give a sign of life - bit hard to type while bouncing on a fit ball (Orla is in a sling and having a 'bad sleeping' day )
Is anyone expressing breast milk for babysitters/carers to give their babies? I've just realised it's only 6 weeks til DP and I have a 'date' out on our own and whilst Orla will probably be asleep when we leave the house (finger crossed!) and we'd be home before her midnight feed she may wake and need some feeding for comfort if anything. I haven't practised giving her EBM from a bottle and I've recieved dire warnings from people that she might not take milk from the bottle I've left it so long!
    Ant tips/advice?

    Hi All,

Its been a while since I posted and Im feeling lazy so no personals today.

Emily is now rolling over, she started yesterday YAY! She looked so proud of herself when she did it. She has only done it about 5 times now coz she has to be in the right mood I guess,

She is between a 000 and a 00 so it depends on how big or small the sizing is.

Cloth nappies are going well, we are still using them except for night time which Im not gunna bother with. I figure disposables draw the moisture away from the skin better and would be much more comfortable for her for such a long period. And its only one or two a night we use (depending if she wakes with a dirty nappy or not).

I have been expressing to empty both sides at night and storing it. Have had a few busy weeks where I have had to go out with Tahlia for her ballet concert and had late nights and so Emily stayed at home with DH and he fed her with the EBM. I bought some a special bottle that is supposed to be good for combining bottle and breast feeding so she wouldnt hate it too much. DH said she was fine with it, was a little confused at first but didnt have any probs.

I cant believe Emily is due for her 4 month immunisations soon. We just got a letter in the mail from the Dr reminding us. Geez that time has gone fast.

Emily is has also realised what her hands do and how to control them a bit, so she now grabs at her toys on the toy arch and plays with them and puts them in her mouth. She gets sooooo talkative when she is playing on the floor. Very cute.

Anyway sorry about the absence of personals, but a BIG to everyone

Will try not to leave it so long before I post again. I read often and its good to hear that all our bubs are doing well.

    Bye for now

Megan - Glad you and Emily are going well

koru - Just answered your post about expressing Hope it helps and enjoy your date with DH!

tk - Great weight gains! Bummer (sorry!!) about the cloth nappies Wish I could think of something else you could try, maybe hang on to some of your stash and try again in a month or 2? I started DD1 quite late and she never had a problem with them so maybe you might have more luck when she's a bit older? Christmas - is that happening sometime soon?! LOL

Willow - Glad everything went well, you must be very relieved. Sounds like you have a very big boy there LOL

Cheezel - Glad you and Peter are doing well.

Saffi - I could cope with the heat here but the humidity is awful ATM! I spend all my day guzzling water. And we chose Port Douglas as a holiday destination too LOL

Ellee - Yay for mother's instinct, you are doing a great job and don't listen to those MCHNs if you don't agree with them. At least it sounds like the paed is going to help

Hi everyone else that I've missed!

AFU, had a very hot weekend but survived - thank god for air con! E has started to grab at the dangly toys on her swing this week and is rolling onto her side heaps more too but not much else exciting happening. She is back to feeding twice a night this week - yay! - and is really happy during the day except when I am on the computer like now LOL

    Hi girls

Saffi - sounds like Immi isn't far away from rolling!!

TK - wow way to go Caitlin on the weight gain!! Shame about the cloth nappies, maybe do what someone else suggested & give it a couple of months? To answer your question - xmas all sorted!! I originally wasn't even going to get Peter much (seeing it's the only year I'd be able to get away with it...) but have managed to go quite overboard lol!! How about yourself?

Koru - hi sorry don't have much advice about EBM. Hope someone can give you some tips.

Megan - great news about the rolling over!! Peter only goes from tummy to back when he feels like it too.

Megsmum - glad to hear all is going well with you, fantastic about the night feeds!!

AFM - Peter has been doing this veeeerry high pitched squeal for the last few days when he plays, have to admit I'm happy when he goes back to bed lol!! He did abit of tummy to back rolling today, only does it when he feels like it. By the time DH came to watch he'd gotten over it & didn't do it again!!

I hope you're all having a nice weekend.
