Bex- i swore Kaidyn had silent reflux cause everything your describing is Kaidyn to a capital T also...I went to my GP as told no-one but GP can give anything for reflux the Dr said no i wont give anything until u come back and says hes been vomitting, well im now booked in today at 1:15 to hopefully get some Zantac and give that ago hopefully if he will give it to me cause K has started vomitting now not all the time but he still vomits

So i wish you goodluck and i hope your GP is better then my GP cause hes made me live through this for another week!!
What?! That's crap!! Silent reflux babies don't vomit! Stupid GP!! I'd just lie and say he is vomiting. Lol.

We are booked in for 4:20 at my gp, and I called my MW and she told ms there is a LC working at the chemist near my place today n tomorrow if I want to go down and talk to her, but would a LC be able to do anything about reflux? I was kinda confused cause we have no probs BF'ing...

Well we had a horrible morning that consisted of charlotte screaming and me breaking down and sobbing... DH had just left for work so that was good cause I didn't want him to see me that upset! It would worry him all day!!! So she screamed and I cried for a good 10 mins... Then I attached her to my boob still both crying n screaming and finally settled her laying on my side feeding her... Wow. All before 6:30am! She was alrigh the rest of the morning and I had our first shower together without DH here to dry her... I just dripped everywhere an air dried while I got her dried an ready. Lol. She loves the shower but hates the bath!!

So who's babies like the shower and who's like the bath? And I guess who's Hates both?!

Caixin, OMG hun so sorry to hear what a rough few days you had! Hope you have a quick recovery. Yay for enjoying breastfeeding and falling in love with Claire!! The connection is so much stronger once they are happy and a little more interactive isn't it?

KayleeF, wowsa a full feed and a whole bottle top up of formula? What a hungry little man!! FX he has put on some weight!

Bex, FX you have some success at the GP's. Silent reflux is incredibly difficult to diagnose but a good GP will give you something to try for a few weeks to see if there is an improvement. They usually like to start with mylanta or something similar before moving to Zantac and if it's really bad Losec. to you & C. Xani loves the bath, I was super surprised that she didn't scream or grizzle the 1st time we bathed her and hasn't since. We haven't tried the shower yet though, I'm still a little lightheaded in the shower and I'm too scared I'll drop her.

little_mrs, I've been using Snugglers too, am going to try out Aldi next. Since my lil chubba is way to big for Huggies new born! I should start using my MCN's, but I'm too lazy just now, hmm maybe next week Yay go G, what a wonderful weight gain! I'm taking my Xani on Thursday to get weighed, I wonder how much she has put on? I've been weighing her here but i don't know it's that accurate.

Mizqtie, hehe I love your attitude hun and I totally agree. I learnt to embrace my curves after having DD1 too. Good Luck with the GP today, FX you get some relief

Kirsten, I need to get some more MCN's and I want to get Itti Bitti's to add to my collection. Am I better off get the multi size Il Tutto's or the sized SIO's or AIO's??

    AFM,
Nipples are killing after Miss X has wanted to feed every hour from 5pm-midnight the last 2 nights and is still not latching properly and I'm too tired to correct her. We've been getting some good daytime sleeps albeit on her tummy on her playmat rather than her bed. And I managed to get her to settle in her bed at 4am rather than in bed with me so i feel we are making progress. I really think her Wrap Me Up Swaddle is wonderful although I'm trying to decide whether to get another one or to invest in the miracle blanket instead??

Mizqtie: that doctor sounds like he has no clue! When they have silent reflux they don't usually vomit, hence the term silent. The acidy reflux comes up their throat and burns them so they scream & they swallow it again. Did you mention Silent reflux to the doctor? If he doesn't give you anything get a second opinion hun or tell him what you know about silent reflux.Sienna vomits a bit now but I think that's just normal for a bub.

MrsBexie: Hun I don't think an LC will tell you anything to do with silent reflux, my LC & MCHN told me Sienna's behavior was normal but I knew it wasn't. Good luck at the gp Hun, Zantac has been our saving grace. If they offer you losec, ask if it's a tablet, if it's the tablets ask for a liquid or Zantac, we were given losec tabs to dissolve before we got Zantac & it wasn't effective as when dissolved the little beads that are the active ingredient are hard to get up with a syringe! I hope Charlotte gets some relief soon!

Shellybean: Hope your nipples heal and get a bit of a break X must be going through a growth spurt. I think I'm going to get a wrap me up swaddle, does it help with the startle reflex? What's the Miracle blanket?
Are you using your mcn's already? Mine still don't fit.

AFM: We went on another long walk this morning, had another good nights sleep after Sienna screamed for an hr.
She just did a massive poo explosion after not pooing for 3 days hehe, it was up her back & down her legs poor little chicken!

    Hello Hello,

Well I finally got a chance to get on here and catch up with you all. I've just read the last 2 pages. I'll try to keep up...

Bexie: oh you sound like me, I had 2 days of crying and I had DP home with me to help, but I spent 2 whole days crying at everything it was awful. When does your mother's group start, I think it will do you the world of good to go to that. I can't see how a LC can help with reflux issues either - weird. Do you have any phone numbers from the mums in your church mothers group. They will all remember what it's like having a new baby and I bet they will come over to chat or go for a coffee or whatever you need. It's really important not to isolate yourself when you have a new baby. As hard as it is to do, you will feel better if you get out and have some adult conversation even for a little while. Have you tried getting Charlotte adjusted by your Chiro? DS had bad colic and he was always better after an adjustment.

Babyluv: oooh a poo explosion - isn't it amazing how much poo they manage to get out for such teeny tiny little things. Sounds like your getting things sorted with Sienna's silent reflux, which is great news and the even better news is that she's having sleep! Good on you!!!

Mizqtie: oh that doctor sounds like a moron!! I would see another doctor who knows a couple of things about babies!!! And good on you for having such a great attitude too I'm a size 12 and very happy with my size, My sister can't seem to believe I'm a size 12 and still buys me clothes in size 10 - does my head in. I must look smaller than I am because I'm tall.

Shelly: I hear you on the sore nipples! Damn nipples need to be teflon coated I swear! Ivy is wearing MCN's and has been since leaving hospital. I have both the itti bitti sized SIO's (the best) and the Bitti Tuttos (still very, very good) I also have some cushie tushie that I use but they tend to wick a bit but are great for just top and nappy outfit, they only leak when there are pants over the nappy. They'll be better I think when she gets a bit bigger. So I would definitely say the SIO's are the all time best, but you do have to buy more, but the tuttos are the best one size nappy I've ever used. I have some AIO's in the larger sizes but they annoy me because they take so long to dry. They are great apart from that.

Caixin: so wonderful to feel that connection isn't it? I didn't really have the connection when pregnant, but as soon as I saw Ivy I had the immediate rush of love and it just gets stronger everyday, she is doing a LOT of smiling and cooing and laughing and I just love it, I could sit there and watch her do that all day! I know what you mean about being scared about being left on your own, I haven't had both of the kids by myself yet and I am crapping myself at the thought of it!

Little_Mrs: I would see the dr about your undercarriage, they shouldn't still be sore enough to need pain killers, could you have torn them at all? Isn't it amazing how much these little people can drink out of us? I sometimes get headaches from feeding from being dehydrated! They are little milking machines..very cute milking machines mind you!

Kaylee: Ivy is usually on the boobs for about an hour, I've been limiting her time on the split open nipple because I am trying to heal it to 15 minutes or so though, so now it's about 45 minutes all up, but with a nappy change and burping inbetween sides and burping after 2nd side it can take around an hour and a half or so. Exhausting work! Sounds like Liam should have put on loads of weight with all that food he's been chowing down on

Renee: the screaming is really hard to deal with isn't it, it puts you so on egde and you feel so frazzled after a bout of screaming! And so exhausting too! Sorry can't help you with the nappies, but sounds like the other girls have all the info

AFM: all getting a bit better over here, I've stopped my full time crying career and it seems my dodgy nipple has stopped bleeding like crazy, I have even done 3 out in public feeds in the past 2 days without crying in pain, so that is a definite bonus - it still really hurts but a whole lot less than it did. It feels so good to just go out and about and be able to feed while I'm out. I will try to keep up in here I hate missing out on everything and I miss you all!!

Babyluv, I've used my MCN's a few times but not full time as yet, i'm being a bit lazy and I'm still growing my stock pile I've bought a few different types to see which work best for Xan. She is a little monster and was born so they easily fit. The Wrap me up is awesome Xan loves having her arms up but always wakes herself with her startle reflex so it's definitely helped with getting her to sleep longer. The miracle blanket is the ultimate houdini proof swaddle. Have a look on The Sleep Store website for them. I can't believe they gave you losec in tablet form! Idiots the liquid is much better and easier to use!!

Kirsten, hmm so you think I should get some sized SIO's and some Tutto's?? I thought the AIO's might take to long to dry. Yay to public feeding without tears!! And don't worry i struggle to keep up too

    Hi girls

Hope you all have beautiful settled babies!!!!!

Quick question. Does anyone know of any websites other than ebay to buy baby furniture and things? I want to get ava a bouncer swing thing but don't want to pay a fortune. She loves the car and pram and anything where she is rocking so i figured she may like to sit in one of those and it may settle her a bit.

Target has a baby sale and the bouncer and playmat a few of us have is half price at $50 at the moment. I'd go check it out or the other ones target has cause the sale ends tomorrow abd they got heaps of stuff!
If not, Bubsngrubs and pram warehouse can be pretty good with prices but check the websites...

Ok now I am on the computer, not my iPhone I can reply properly!

Shelly: Boo to the sore nipples!! I know what you mean, mine aren't cracked or blistered (well one tiny one developed yesterday) but they are sore from all the feeding!!! Maybe our LO's are having growth spurts? Aparently around 3 weeks they do... Yay to the swaddle working!! I would stay with what works personally instead of spending money on another type that may not work... just my opinion though.

Mizqtie: what?! he still wouldn't give you anything??? My dr said to try Gaviscon infant first which is just an over the counter so you could get some of that? You mix one sachet with 20mls of EBM and give it to them after every feed... maybe give it a go considering you don't need him to prescribe anything??

Kirsten: Didn't get C adjusted cause my chiro had a feel and she is pretty good. She felt around today though on her tummy and said it's a bit tight and her gall bladder area seems to be out a bit. So she fiddled and pushed something around the top of the tummy under the ribs or something! LOL, don't really know what she was doing! I'm talking to you on FB so don't want to double up info! hahah YAY to no more random crying and nipples getting better!

babyluv: YAY to the poosplosion! Poor little darling was all backed up! Is she sleeping and feeding better now?

Renee: No worries love. I always look out for the sales!! LOL, How are you and Ava doing? Any luck with your milk?

Had a big day out today! Met a friend who is up from Brisbane for coffee, had a bit of a shop, bought a BF pillow from target for $26 and OMG.... SOOOO much better to feed! My arm didn't die and was so comfy! So glad I bought it and for soo cheap too! Then had my chiro appointment and she had a poke around and apparently gall bladder is.. well not happy! LOL. It was hurting when she was poking around... so I have to drink a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar wih a glass of water to flush it out! EWW. Then had Charlotte's Dr's appointment. He told me to try Gaviscon infant first and if it doesn't work in the next few days to settle her, we will get her on Zantac. He just didn't want to start her on the chemical stuff right away. But if it doesn't work then he will def give me something stronger for her. FX the gaviscon works!!!! She had a big scream once we got home though so I gave her a feed and then her first dose of gaviscon and she only had a little grizzle n cry before she fell asleep (that could be cause she didn't sleep after the chiro when she was meant to naughty girl!), she is still sleeping but will be waking soon for another feed so we'll see if the gaviscon works tonight!
I am feeling a little better too. I think going out really helped. I dread leaving the house and almost cancelled but I am glad I went.

Hope everyone else is going great and we have a bunch of happy babies!!! xx

thanks Bex i just might try that cause this is just rediculous and the BEST thing about it is, i already have Gaviscon infant but i have been reluctant giving it to him cause it says from one year old onwards...If your Dr is saying its fine then im going to give Kaidyn some to try
He didnt happen to mention anything about weight did he? cause Kaidyn is only 3.5kgs roughly so even though he is almost 6 weeks old he is still only quite small (the size he is now, is what Zak was born) i just might gie him one through the night and see how we go

Just one pack after each feed... but the box says no more than 6 in 24hrs so I am going to miss the night feeds because she generally goes back to bed then. So will do one soon when she wakes up, miss the middle night feed and give her one at her 4-5am feed (that is usually an unsettled feed). The box says under 4.5kgs one pack, over 4.5kgs is 2 packs.

He said it is much better for them chemical wise compared to the stronger ones... but depending on how bad the reflux is, it might be too gentle.

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes! The box says use water, but I used 20mls EBM

well i just gave Kaidyn his first one lets see how we go

i also forgot to mention i have my first period i started not yesturday the day before how annoying i didnt miss them at all just hoping im not haemoragging (sp?) i do have a history of doing that

Kaidyn decided last night to wake every 2hrs to feed like what the??, he is almost 6wks old i cant believe it my midwife says at 6wks they change eat more (appetite increase) and they tend to cry more but i shall see how this gaviscon goes

well im going back to sleep ill be back later

Bex, Ava is doing well. My milk has come in real slow and still barely there so i am giving her the boob before her feeds and then giving her formula, that is unless she wakes really hungry i don't worry about boob as she is not interested in the piddly bit she gets she wants food then and there!!! She had a huge 6hr sleep from 5pm till 11 yesterday but hadn't slept all day so i'd say she had worn herself out! I hope the gaviscon works for Charlotte. Sounds like the trip out of the house was just what you needed luv!!! I wish i could go out but can't drive or do anything so i have to wait for DH to finish work before we can go anywhere. I'm not even supposed to vaccum or mop or hang the washing on the line!! Makes life a little difficult. I don't know why women would elect to have a c/section i am so jealous of a natural birth and the freedom of movement you have after one!!
