Hope every else is doing well. We're having a good few days here, Jacob doesn't scream any more - he cries but nothing over the top, it's wonderful!! Still having a bit of trouble putting him to sleep though, he can be fast asleep on me but the minute I lay him down he opens those eyes and looks at me as if to say "hey!! what you doing!! pick me BACK UP!!!" Oh and exciting exciting news!!! last night I was changing him and mum and I were talking to him and mum was touching his face and talking and he smiled!!! We were sooooo stoked. I was thinking 'maybe it was a fluke' but this morning I was about to give him his dummy and was talking to him and he gave me the biggest smile. Made my heart melt!! It's definately easy to see the difference between a genuine smile and wind.

Hi

Well Charlie Boy failed his second hearing test at the hospital so he has to go into the city in a couple of weeks and see a Audiologist and they will do a heap of tests on him. I'm not worried I will wait and see what happens.

cathie we have to take Summah for a hearing test becasue she was on antibiotics at 4 days old for a bacterial infection, apparently that warrants a hearing test needing to be done?? ill ask my MCHN tomorrow and her paed next week what the go is!!

Myboys - yes, found them at woolies / kmart & coles. Tommee Tippee or Happy Baby brand - we got the Tommee Tippee branded ones, $4 for 3. I agree with MadB - go with the flow and guide, different strokes for different folks etc.

Cathie - :( for Charlie, hope its manageable.

MadB - hope you're feeling better with the mastitis

AFM - Just back from the MCHN and he's now 3800g - so has only 80g to get back to birth weight!!! YAY!!!! Also this morning was the first day that DH gave him EBM at the very early morning feed, plus formula topup. The good news is that with 40mls of EBM he still only took 70mls of formula, so that means that it's likely that's how much my (.) (.) are producing!!!

Crumpet - I hear you on the time! By the time we BF, then express & FF top-up, there's an hour passed, then a half hour for cleaning & sterilising, that then leaves us about an hour and a half to do everthing else before the next feed. And that's not even including the time for supervised tummy time & chest bonding time and I just want to have a bath!!!!!! BUT! I did have a shower & wash my hair today!!!

Yay for your boobies Kaz and for the weight gain! And for the washed hair!

They are very time consuming, aren't they? Still easier than almost-3-year-olds though :rofl:

Saw our child health nurse today. DD is now 250g above birth weight and almost at DS' birth weight (he was 4290g) (up 280g in 6 days). So despite the squashed nipples (which don't really hurt now, so strange) she's getting heaps of milk. Mind you, she hasn't pooed for a coupel of days so half that weight could be accounted for by the coming squelcher. ew.
But anyway, she's a roly poly. Maybe this time I'll have a fat baby :D

Question - how do you manage daily baths for the bubbas let alone older kids? We never had a bathtub for Pip and never got into a routine of bathtime :blush:

So, I found a recipe online for the lactation cookies. It suggested choc chips but DH is more of a chocolate hound than I am (seriously, his cousin brought him 1.5kg of his favourite chocs from Germany and her ate them in about 4 days), so I put in sultanas instead. He grabbed one hot off the tray, ate it in two bites, said “needs chocolate” then took another one anyway! He’s asked me to make the next batch with choc chips!!

MadB, glad the mastitis is settling down for you. A friend of mine was hospitalized for 48 hours with it! She was in a really bad way. Amelia feeds both sides for about 20 minutes each – a little less on the left as she loses interest – a little more on the right as it is comfortable so I let her go as long as she’s awake and sucking well. I’m feeding on the left first at the moment as she has a more enthusiastic suck when she’s hungry.

Kaz, I had a crack at feeding lying down a couple of nights ago – Amelia took to it pretty well, but I drifted off, she nipped me, I woke up with a yelp and she ended up so hysterical I haven’t been game to try it again. *sigh* Sounds like between the cookie raids, the computer and the washing, our DHs would be a match made in heaven!
Sooooo… ten Fenugreek tablets, eh? What strength are you taking? Thanks for the other feedback, I will look for blessed thistle tomorrow. Um, yeah, the pain is worst at attachment, to the point of tears at times. I will contact the LC ASAP.
Re: bathing, it’s hard when you’re comp feeding, expressing etc, we found ourselves only bathing Amelia every second day when she first came home, which was okay as it was SO stressful, she yelled her way through baths for the first few weeks. Now we try to bathe her of an early evening, generally when DH comes home from work. I do the eyes, face, hair etc over the basin while DH fills the tub, then he bathes her. He loves it, plays games with her etc and seeing them make eye contact and bond is just beautiful.

Myboys, my groove has gone! No worries on the name spelling, I was talking to a friend the other day and used her DD’s name when talking about mine! We’re all pretty tired I think :) Doesn’t it drive you mad when they’re all settled and then *pfffffft* nappy filled. In the hospital they said not to change at night but I really hate the idea of leaving her in a poopy nappy. Apparently I hated being dirty as a bub, perhaps the start of my OCD!!!!!

Jules, Amelia does exactly the same thing – she’s kind of the reverse of those creepy dolls that close their eyes when you lay them down – her eyes pop open instead!

Cathie, I hope Charlie’s hearing tests out okay at the specialist.

So, obviously I bought fenugreek and made the cookies as well… ob/gyn a bit dubious about motilium so I will see how I go with the natural remedies – and I’m going to try the beer – so weird that I craved it during pregnancy and actually had a bottle of no-alcohol beer the night before Amelia was born! I KNOW I need to stay calm and stop freaking out as it can’t be helping any. But she was getting a little listless and her nappies weren’t as full as they had been and she WOULD NOT sleep until we comped her the other night. It took so long to establish exclusive bf that it just rattles me when something seems to go wrong. I bought a different type of nipple shield – the Tommy Tippee rather than the Avent – and she was able to latch better this afternoon. Sweet relief! Much thinner too so hopefully this one won’t stop her from feeding effectively.

Speaking of which – I hear her customary chicken squawk, which means I have about 3 minutes before she progresses to Pterodactyl screech :)

Pp: that's so funny you mention the pterydactyl squawk, we were calling Dd that for the first week & now we call her birdy & chicken because we thought it sounds nicer hehe! It's a bizarre sound!

PP - wait to see the LC and see what they say before you up any meds. I don't know what the contra-indicators are of fenugreek other than diahorrea. (sp?) and smelly farts. Oh, and that means that Quoll's poos really stink too. Same with the nipple shields. If you can, there's a book I borrowed through the ABA, "The Breastfeeding Mother's guide to Making More Milk" by Diana West & Lisa Marasco which is quite good.

We're having a horrid night, need to check the wonder weeks book as he just isn't settling, but he is lifting his head and watching me while lying on my tummy. Very bright eyes, watching everything... man I hope I get some sleep tonight.

We had great day but hit 7pm and we had screaming for two hours. She ended up falling asleep with us and that's where she spent most of the night (only a short stint in her basinette i think). She's asleep in my arms right now, going to try put her in the basinette. Wish me luck :)

Harper is still in bed and the boys are outside playing, i'm trying to eat breakfast but i keep finding things to pick up and put away ALREADY. The house is spotless when i go to bed and it takes minutes of my little terrors being up for that to change.

How was your night Kaz? Did your little man stop doing his streches and rest? It could be that my memory is failing me (convienently) but i'm sure Harper's 'witching hour' is worse than what the boys was.

Hi Myboys - yes, turned out OK, I gave him his dummy then put him down in his cradle so I could go to the loo - he had a little whinge but then settled to sleep, wondering if he was just overtired? I checked the wonder weeks book and the first major leap is at 5 weeks - now they say that it could be a week either side, and that it's taken by the EDD so he should be almost 4 weeks now, which means he might be starting that leap?
Out of curiousity, what do your boys do during the day? DH relies heavily on the TV to keep Pip amused, and that really doesn't make me happy.

PP - YAY on the booby juice!!!!! well done!!!!! Keep your water intake up too hun!!!! Good luck with the vax - hard to believe she's almost 2 months!!!!

AFM - my pump isn't getting anything out now, trying to source another pump, the LC has recommended one specific pump and I can't find it anywhere. Plus the ABA has shut down for holidays ... not open till the 11th...
I really need a haircut, I think the last one was in May. *sighs* My hair is so ratty.

That's great pixie. Forgive me for saying this, but I think your problem is more with confidence than supply. But either way, you're getting there.

Arsenic hour - why do they call it that when it lasts at least 3 hours? This week I'm blaming everything on the antibiotics. I swear she's feeding 15+ times a day. Thank god it's cooler today.

Myboys, I hate that too! What's the point in cleaning at all? (except that I don't want to live in a filthy cess pit, you know?) I like to clean in the morning on one of DS' daycare days - then I get a few hours of clean house to enjoy before the boys come home.

Oh, I always change at night if they're very wet or dirty. Just asking for nasty nappy rash otherwise.

Kaz, we have never really had any kind of routine. DD I'm bathing most nights as she enjoys it and sometimes DS likes to help (and might get in after her - we still have dramas getting him to wash some days and don't even ask how often he gets his teeth brushed :wall:)

MadB – You poor thing with all that heat!! Hope it eases soon so you can enjoy your cuddles without all that extra body heat burning you up! Great news on the weight gain! You’re doing a great job! Jacob feeds about as often as your DD. I never leave Jacob in a dirty nappy, I don’t want him getting any rashes….besides, he won’t sit in a dirty nappy for more than two mins anyway…

Kaz – your cookies sound so yummy! We’ve been using a dummy too, Jacob likes to comfort suck and it’s killing my nipples at the moment as I’m still dealing with the oral thrush issue.. You poor thing with the bleed, has it eased now? I hope they can give you some answers at your appointment and it’s sorted out asap. Make sure you take care of yourself :hug: Good on you with all the expressing, you’re a machine!! Excellent news on the weight gain!! And yay for having a shower, it’s such a wonderful treat these days isn’t it? :)

PP – Yay on the increase of supply! I knew everything would be fine, hang in there, you’re doing a wonderful job. Good luck with the vaccinations!

Audux – Try not to beat yourself up too much about the dummy, you did your best, and it doesn’t mean you will have to use it as a permanent thing, you can make it work for you..

Myboys – Sounds like you’re doing a great job, definitely don’t over think things too much, you’ve done this twice already and done it so well! I am super impressed that you are using cloth while looking after three little ones!!

Cathie – Good luck with Charlie’s hearing test, I’m sure all will be fine.

Crumpet – Definately much to learn!! Smiles are the best!! I’m getting a few each day now, very random..but it all started when he was beginning to really listen when I spoke/sung to him and he’s getting a lot easier to distract. Jules/crumpet - Totally agree with time, the older you get the quicker it goes. I'm 39 this year, I still feel like I'm 30 just a few more wrinkles and some extra flab around the belly and bum. I can't believe my eldest is 15 this year now that has gone by so fast.
Kaz - when I was preggo my hair was soo strong, now it's falling out and it looks soo dull. I'll get a hair cut soon. When Charlie cries all kids run over to him, I say leave him alone his just having a squawk.
I had a bleed after the twins where born and I ended up back in hospital, they gave me antibiotics. what happened with me is that not all the placenta came out and some was left and blood clots where forming. I hope everything is fine with you.
Myboys - I hear you on the cleaning, my house is all nice and tidy before I go to bed and than the twins rise and shine and the house is trashed :wall:. I don't know how 2 little people can make a huge mess. They are little devils.

Well charlie is fine he has a crying session once a day but you can't pick when it's going to happen, I just pray that it dose not happen at the making dinner, bathing children time. His asleep now been asleep since 11.00am, so been able to do the house work.

Kaz i think Harper's 'witching hour' has a lot to do with overtiredness/over stimulated but then again she slept so well yesterday... So i don't know. Maybe once you have half an hour of the unsettledness it's hard for them to calm themselves and relax!? I don't have the wonder weeks book, you'll have to keep us informed of when they are and what to expect.

As for keeping the boys occupied... When we get up and the tv is pretty much turned on but that is to distract them while i prepare breakfast. They tend to find something and start playing with it also so then the tv is just something that is in the background. Charlie doesn't take much notice of it but Aidan switches between toys and tv/dvd. When Charlie came along I did feel a lot of guilt about how much time Aidan spent in front of the tv it but it's one of those 'if it works' things. In this weather the boys can play outside so again they kind of switch between in and out. When the tv is on and i have a moment to sit i try and sit with them and talk about what's on, what they are watching, what they are doing, colours shapes things like that. We pretty much only watch ABC 1 or 2 and dvd's. If the tv is on and they boys aren't around i turn it off to try and have some no tv time. Aidan sometimes helps me make dinner or bake something and will often ask me to help with things like build some tracks for Thomas the Tank or craft. We have managed to accumalate two big drawers full of craft stuff and i save some boxes and they cut and paste sometimes. They can be pretty demanding at times because when they were at day care they'd do so much interesting stuff i find i struggled to be able to occupy them with interesting stuff at times. One thing Aidan and I would do together was sometimes look on the ABC for kids website but he really doesn't know how to use the computer that well. We sometimes go for a walk to the park just down the road. That is what's happening now for the school holidays, once they are over there are few daily activities that keep us a bit busier. Charlie boy just wanders and is in his own little world, he actually occupies himself quite well and he also has a 2 hour sleep each day still. We bath every second day depending on how dirty they are and that is usually about 4:30ish and then have dinner about 5:30ish and then bed between 6:30 and 7:30pm. Hope that helps a little Kaz.

Well, Miss Millie is up to 4.07kg now! That's 1.02kg up on birth weight, and given that she lost a lot in the first few days, I'm pretty chuffed. She screamed the place down with the shots of course, but settled down pretty quickly (I gave her a dummy so I didn't speed on the ride home!). Got her feeding as soon as we got home, which was okay, then she dropped the bb and screamed blue murder - that's never happened before. Would have been about an hour post-shot by then. Tried to calm her down but she was so upset - tried taking her temp (under arm thermometer, I mean really, how can you keep an infant still long enough to get a proper read on that thing?) and got to 37.1 before she squirrelled it out from under her arm and yelled even louder. I decided to give her a dose of panadol. She gave me a "well that was disgusting" look and yelled some more so I just cuddled her and walked her around until she settled enough to go back on. She finished her feed and has finally settled down to sleep and I've got myself some lunch. Phew, what a morning!

Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement. MadB, you're forgiven, not just because you're right - I know I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to confidence. Like I said, everything can be sailing along well, but one little hiccup and I assume the worst.

Myboys I'm glad Harper went down but booooo to housework :) I love the sound of the life you have with your boys - I can't wait to be doing craft and going for walks with my little girl.

Kaz good luck finding the pump. Great timing, innit? Everyone says, "AW, Christmas baby, how lovely..." but when services we need are on holidays it can be tricky!

MadB I blamed Millie's oral thrush on my antibiotics. Antibiotics can cop the blame for everything as far as I'm concerned!

Cathie it's lovely that your kids run to look after Charlie! That's what I like about DH's big family - they all look out for each other, no matter what.

Kaz just was thinking a little more, we have a few different floor puzzles (nice big pieces), memory games, domino games & play doh, they are good as they are quick and easy, keep their attention for just the right amount of time. All these are things i do with Aidan when Charlie is in bed :)

I guess DS is still at the entertain-himself stage, so I just leave him to it most of the time. He did have his first playdoh adventure the other day - what a mess! - and played happily for a couple of hours 'cooking' and making things.

Jules, how're things for you guys? You sound bright and cheerful - loving those smiles hey?

Cathie - surely there's something else you could be doing besides housework?
I've been having some intermittent bleeding and my midwife has asked me to go get a scan. Will see the doc tomorrow and take it from there - might be some retained product.

Pixie - woah, she's getting big. And that's a great gain so far. It's kinda funny to think that DD was almost that heavy at birth :lol: With the cloth nappies she's pretty much too big for 0000 already.

I remember that those 2-month shots were the only ones that DS reacted to - he was quite listelss and sleepy for a day or so and went off his feeds (this was the boy that never slept and ate constantly). Oh, and that baby panadol tastes vile! I think there's another brand of paracetemol stuff that's better...? anyone know? DS loves nurofen, but will not take panadol (I've tried it and I'm not surprised)

DD seems a bit more comfortable today after finally pooing (well it was only 2 days, so you won't be impressed Audax :D)

PP - what a morning alright. Glad it all worked out in the end and Millie got some rest. Poor little things, needles suck!

MadB - Great news on the poo! What a relief that must be!! No explosion necessary :lol: We're doing ok here thanks...mum is leaving tomorrow so a little nervous. Jacob is doing a lot better, but we still have our moments. My main issue at the moment which we're just going with the flow with is he's snack feeding. He has enough milk to top him up and feel good, then he falls asleep and comfort sucks.. I try waking him up by changing his nappy etc and sometimes it works, and he'll go back on to drink but then comfort suck only a few minutes later. Most of the time he will go down into the basinette with a dummy and comfort suck himself to sleep. It can take an hour to feed with all the time spent waking and changing (cause most times he can dirty his nappy two/three times!) and then I can get him down but never get more than an hour out of his sleep. I think this is due to him not having a 'full feed'. I really don't know. I'm just doing my best and relaxing as much as I can about it...he wakes up when he's hungry and I just have to take the opportunity to sleep while he does. I am eagarly awaiting my close carrier so when mum leaves I can put him in there and take him out to do things like the washing etc...but unfortunately the floods out here are so bad that there is no mail getting to us whatsoever...I just hope and pray it doesn't get lost!! We are devastated that I can't see the Community Health Nurse till next Monday at LEAST thanks to these floods...it's so frustrating to not be able to get the help we really need. Christmas, New Year, flooding...what more can interfere! *sigh* oh well.. I like to think I'm doing ok. Oh, and yes, enjoy some beautiful smiles! Yesterday was just extra special when mum decided to change one of his nappies while I was able to talk to him and enjoy his smiles... however!! she took a little long putting his nappy on and he weed all over me! FACE INCLUDED. I bolted into the bathroom while mum picked herself up off the floor in hysterics!! :lol:

Oh PP here i was telling you all should be fine, so sorry to hear that Millie was so unsettled :cry: I hope she had a good sleep once she finally settled. I despise housework and i'm thinking of paying to have it done again :redface: Life is great with my little chickens and i count myself sooooo lucky every single day, even when it gets tough. I look forward to you being able to experience the joy Millie and her future siblings :lol: will bring both you and DH.

MadB i don't do all those things in one day :lol: I'd be superwoman if i did but i'm not. It varies as to what we do as to what the boys are asking for. They go through stages, a few months ago we were building things with boxes all the time and Thomas wasn't getting played with at all, now not much building is going on but Thomas is quite popular again. So the play doh was successful?? Charlie eats it :rolleyes: It's a bit the same here, 0000 don't fit with a cloth nappy. We generally use Neurofen or the chemist brand of panadol here. Also love your new avatar also, how do i get myself one of those?

Kaz yay on the 20mls!!! Keep it coming. I had thought about something like that for a new user name but thought it might have been a little too wordy. I'm thinking i promise. Kaz Aidan can be quite demanding of my time and it can be quite draining but i try to interact and keep him occupied. He has this memory card game and i started playing it with him late last year and i was surprised how well he did it and what he's actually capable of. His memory is better than mine!!! Oh i hope you find a breastpump soon, what about online??

Harper has had a really good relaxed day again today and tonight's witching hour wasn't so bad. She had a few little/big swarks but not to the extent of the last few nights. She's asleep in her basinette right now. I'm thinking her witching hour/irritable at the bb at the end of the day has to do with a slower supply? Harper seems to get irritable on the bb at the end of the day but at the same time as her carrying on she's getting milk all over her face. I know my milk is there but maybe it's just not coming fast enough for her. Greedy guts :lol: Lets hope we have a good night.

Tomorrow we're going to have Harper's hand and feet impressions done and i've called on my cousin's daughter (i think she's 15) to help me. She's been wanting to come and have a day with me also so the company will be nice. And i've been trying to organise Aidan's bday party, i'm just going to have it at a play centre as i don't have the time or energy to do it myself. He's so excited for his bday that i didn't have the heart to skip the party this year.

I think the fussiness at the boob is more to do with their discomfort than supply/flow. They feel ugh so they go for the breast, but they don't really need it so they pull off, but they're uncomfortable so they go for the breast, but it's not working so they pull off... It's fun though isn't it? DD always waits till just after letdown to pull off and cry when she's arsenicing... what a mess.

Kaz, is your DH into handyman stuff or gardening or anything like that? DS loves doing things with DH and "helping" him (he's a hinderance really, but anyway). He is pretty good at watering plants.

Crumpet - I hear you on the time! By the time we BF, then express & FF top-up, there's an hour passed, then a half hour for cleaning & sterilising, that then leaves us about an hour and a half to do everthing else before the next feed. And that's not even including the time for supervised tummy time & chest bonding time and I just want to have a bath!!!!!! BUT! I did have a shower & wash my hair today!!!

oh god i dunno how id get anything done with all of that!!
the longest Summah takes to feed is about 45 mins and then i do a bottle rinse and im a good to get going on whatever else needs doing...

They are very time consuming, aren't they? Still easier than almost-3-year-olds though

Saw our child health nurse today. DD is now 250g above birth weight and almost at DS' birth weight (he was 4290g) (up 280g in 6 days). So despite the squashed nipples (which don't really hurt now, so strange) she's getting heaps of milk. Mind you, she hasn't pooed for a coupel of days so half that weight could be accounted for by the coming squelcher. ew.
But anyway, she's a roly poly. Maybe this time I'll have a fat baby

In the hospital they said not to change at night but I really hate the idea of leaving her in a poopy nappy. Apparently I hated being dirty as a bub, perhaps the start of my OCD!!!!!

we used to change her bum every feed no matter what, then our MCHN said to only change her at night if she has poo'd and leave her if its wet, seems to work well. i dont think id leave her with a poopie bum, id hate it so i can only imagine a bub hating it too.

I’m getting a few each day now, very random..but it all started when he was beginning to really listen when I spoke/sung to him and he’s getting a lot easier to distract. Jules/crumpet - Totally agree with time, the older you get the quicker it goes. I'm 39 this year, I still feel like I'm 30 just a few more wrinkles and some extra flab around the belly and bum. I can't believe my eldest is 15 this year now that has gone by so fast.

AFU: so yesterday we got Summahs first smile!!! was so excited!!! poor Dh missed it coz he was at work so he talks to her 24/7 when she is awake trying to get her to do it for him! poor kid, anyone would think she was a circus act the way he wants her to perform on cue!!

we also had her check up with the MCHN.
so in a week she has gained 350g! apparently they are happy with 180g so she out did herself there!!
and in the 3 weeks since she was born she has grown 5cm in length- which explains why her 0000 long sleeved and jumpsuits dont fit length wise anymore! pity 000 are still a bit big!!

and all her developmental stuff is right on track so the nurse was very happy with her wich = a very happy mummy and daddy!!

On the crappy side… we are still fighting oral thrush…I’m so upset, I just want it gone :( I want my little boy to be comfortable and I don’t want to have to use bicarb, gel etc on my breasts and have four times a day of having to syringe drops into his mouth…surely we’re going to catch a break soon! It’s just so painful to feed right now!

I found a pump! The ABA finally got back to me and I've picked up the pump! I even got a double kit so it should only take me 10 mins to pump, not 20!

Summah was on antibiotics from when she got the bacterial infection in hospital so when we bought her home the anti b's came home with her and she ended up with thrush on her bum and in her mouth..... she is on 1ml of nilstat 4 times a day, but today i the last day :dance: seriously i dont know why they make all thses medications in such bright colours, i mean really fluro yellow?!?!?!
her anti b's were bright pink and then fluro yellow mouth drops! needless to say the stain remover has had a decent work out for the last 2 and half weeks!

AFU: all going along well here......

i was worried about Summah getting constipated, when she hadnt pooed yesterday.
at 11 last night she did what resembled a mc chicken chicken nugget and my heart dropped coz i was sure it was the start of her being blocked and us needing to go to the chemist to get more stuff to shoot into her mouth...

but then DH got up to feed her at 6 when he was getting ready for work and she had let loose!! bordering on a poo-explosion he said, it was seeping out the legs!! AND she had wet through!!

sucked in to DH, he has been bragging about no pooh nappies since we came home with her and he copped the worst one!!

so im happy about her bowels again now...till tomorrow if she does the same thing!

we have a friend coming over this morning so i better get my butt into gear and make up her bottles, so we can raid the bakery for some yummy morning tea!

Crumpet - I didn't realise Summah had thrush too! Gosh it's a bugger isn't it...did she grunt and groan a lot while she had it? I'm so happy for you that you're finished her treatment today...we thought we were improving but no such luck :( I'm having to be extra cautious with my nipples and with his dummies etc (more so than I already was!!), so that is taking up soooo much of my day! I know what you mean by the colour!! As if there isn't enough washing to do already without having to fuss over extra clothes/wraps/wipes that get yellow on them!! Jacob HATES it and cries and tries to stick his hand in his mouth and it is such a challenge, I hate doing it sooo much! Hahahahaha on the poo!! Sucked in DH :) My DH works shift work so I'm stuck with everything lately, the explosions and all!!

I feel soooo awful. yesterday he cried a lot at daycare and said "I lost my mummy. Miriam has my mummy now" Broke my heart. So I know I need to try harder to do things with him. I think we may have made things worse with DH doing things alone with him lots and leaving me with DD. I know he'll adjust with time, but it's just so awful to think how hurt he is. He keeps askign if I'm his mummy as well (as DD's), too.
The good news is that he doesn't seem to have any ill feeling toward his sister (that'll come later when she starts stealing his toys I guess :D)

Oh I hear you on that MadB - we did similar here with my DH - I made a comment to DS1 that maybe we'd do craft this afternoon and soon as I got home from ABA meeting he was "mummy craft" solidly for an hour while I was feeding / expressing! So we did craft :) Had a "serious" talk with him (well, as "serious" as a talk with a 3.5yr-old can be!) that mummy had to do some things for baby, but that I was still here for him, and if he needed me to come and let me know. And that I loved him ... poor little men ...

Crumpet - yay on finishing the oral thrush treatment!!!! woohoo! hehehe, good on ya DH for copping it - DS1 would poop every day around 5pm and DH would change his nappy when he got home from work .. I managed to miss almost 6 months of poopy afternoon nappies with DS1!!!!!

I'm just waiting for Quoll to decide if he's going to wake now or later for a feed - it's about the right time for a feed ... ahhh there we go, the first squawk ;)

yeah she had a decent dose of it, bum and mouth.
coz she got a bacterial infection in hospital she had 3 jabs a day of antib's and then 10days worth when we got home. our MCHN said it was quite normal and told us how to treat it, lucky for us it cleared up ok and when the antib's stopped it cleared up quicker again!!

Summah used to screw her face and clamp her jaw closed!! the middies showed us how to get medications into her, slowly squirting it in but with this stuff i had to get it all in at once otherwise she wouldnt take it all!

AFU: good night here, same sort of wake ups as usual, i think she is getting herself into a routine which is good coz i want her in one, im a bit anal like that.....

DH scored last night!!
was playing with Summah on the floor on her play mat and she got a bit narky so he picked her up and she was drenched!!!

the twit forgot to change her bum before her feed and coz she has increased her feeds she is peeing a lot more and well the nappy was clearly overfull!!

so then he freaked out coz he hates to think of her uncomfy like that so into the bath she went!!

i was hysterical laughing cooking dinner at the time...... till i realised i didnt have bread and we were having bacon and eggs on toast, so then it was DH's turn to laugh!

Summah is 4 weeks on tuesday and we are still using the NB teats in her bottles- Avent if that helps.

anyway she is taking 30mins plus to finish 100-130ml every feed.

and she was screaming before for her feed so i put my finger in her gob and she sucked so hard i think i lost circulation!!:o

so does this mean its time to go up to the next size teat??

what happens if i go up a teat size to quickly?

Crumpet i've never formula fed so i really won't be much help...

I'm not sure if her having such good suction means time to move up a teat or not but i would say if you do the flow will be quicker and the only thing you would want to be carefull of would be if it's too quick she may be gulping too quickly to keep up with it therefore take on a bit of air at the same time.

That's just my uninformed/inexeprienced thoughts on it. Hopefully someone who is more in the know can help you soon :D

Crumpet - Taking a while to finish a feed is usual, so don't stress about that. I wouldn't be going up a teat size just yet, she still has a small tummy and you don't want her to fill it too quickly, cause then she'll vomit.
