Wow, I'm no expert Jules but that does sound odd. They should talk directly to the doctor maybe and get him to intervene? Definitely encourage her to express more often to keep up her supply, but also surely she can give EBM at each feed? Going to supplements within 48 hours seems strange, but no doubt there are lots of details I know nothing about.

Ah sleep. Well, Miri's not doing it today!
It really is normal for little babies to need help to sleep, so don't be surprised if sometimes just leaving them to settle doesn't work. And they're always changing their little routines, plus then of course they have little hiccup days/weeks where everything's up in the air! Oh the fun

Well, hannah appears to be back to normal. Thank God, I don't want to have to deal with that drama again.
Yesterday she ate nearly a quarter of a jar of custard. Although, the whole time she glared at me so I don't think she liked it very much. hehe

I'm cold again today. I forgot that I hate winter.

Thanks girls, glad to see it's not just me being *****d about it. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT ok with what he did, and I actually forgot to mention that I cought my BIL (SIL's husband - not my actual brother) rubbing ice over his lips and letting him suck on it...I asked him not to then found out last night when talking to DH that he had caught his OTHER sister (not the one that just had a baby) doing the SAME thing!!! ARGH, makes me wild. All it does is make me not trust them even more but the difficult part is, if I say "please stay close by, I don't trust you with him when it comes to giving him things after I specifically ask no" they will just do it more to try and get under my skin. It's a no win situation and sadly the only thing I can do to avoid it is to not be around them at all .... which makes me even worse of a person in their eyes.

Crumpet - Sounds like you're having fun with solids also, glad summah is enjoying them! Glad to hear her sleeping is back on track. How exciting about your holiday!! I hope you have an awesome time.

Hello to everyone else, I hope you and your little ones are doing well. We are at my mum and dads now till early next week, Jacobs christening is this Sunday, bit excited!!! My SIL and her baby are doing ok...there have been a few complications and to be completely honest with you, I'm not 100% sure they are treating her or her baby very well in there. DH and I have talked about it and we just can't believe the things that are happening. He was born just short of 37 weeks and she had pethadine (sp?) when she was in labour and he was really affected by it. There are some blood group issues etc but the thing that confuses me is the midwives were saying 'he wont' latch' so she was hand expressing colostrum and was getting out what I thought was heaps! but before he was 48 hours old they were supplement feeding him with formula and he was sucking on the bottle like a little champion. I didn't even see a midwife around trying to offer help with attachment. He's now being TUBE FED?! (the tube was put in just after he was 48 hours old...) Very strange but I guess they have their reasons, I am no expert. She's getting milk but they are making her express and only getting her to express for every second feed....hmmmm. Not my place to get involved.

hun im harsh in the fact that if someone does something i dont approve of with summah after ive asked them not to, i wont take summah to visit.
im sick of ppl not respecting our parenting choices so i figure ill punish them! bad i know, but trust me they soon figure it out!

See Charlotte, that's what worries me, he's not in special care!! He's in her room all the time! and the doc requested he be put in the humicrib the whole first night but the midwives didn't do it!!! Makes me so angry. She's not standing up to them at all so they are walking all over her! DH spoke to his mum about it and she got really defensive and argued with him so clearly we can't help them so we just have to sit back, watch and hope for the best.

wow the nurses not taking dr's orders? thats really concerning!
is there a way you can talk to the babys dad?

Jules i too am no expert but my SIL spent a lot of time in NICU/Special care and what you're saying is a little strange. Frustrating for you as a mum even though you've never been in that position. And then at the same time trying to be careful of what you do say... Tricky all around but i hope things improve really quickly.
A girlfriend of mine who recently had a bub at 36ish weeks i think had her in special care for a little bit and the nurses were not always extrememly helpful and caring. I know they have a job to do but it was almost like they only cared about doing their job which was care for the baby and not really worry about the mother that much at all. A bit harsh to say i know but when she told me some of the things they did i was a bit shocked and frustrated for her.

Crumpet enjoy your holiday when you finally get there after all your packing. Have a wonderful time sharing new experiences with your family

Jules it also seems as my SIL is wanting to make a bit of an effort which is great and i am happy to try and get along and be like we used to be. I just don't want to get hurt again so i'll have my guard up still. We'll just see how it goes.

We're okish here. Harper is beautiful and smilying and ROLLING and having some rice cereal. She seems to be really enjoying the eating part of it and opens her mouth like a little pro and chews and swallows. She was really ready THe only thing is she seems to be doing lots of little vomits lately. After he milk feeds and after the cereal and hours after each. I suppose it's not a big deal but it's so strange that we've gone from a baby who never vomited to one that frequently vomits to the point where it's a bit projectile and lands on the floor. I'll just keep seeing how it goes.
And i've still got the bb issue and it's really starting to bother me. I'm not seeing any real improvements after being back to the dr's twice now. I'll go back again next week i think. It's got to go away soon surely!?

ANyway that's it for me, Charlie and Harper are sleeping so i'm going to get some things done to make the most of it.

Damn about the vomitting. Do you think it's the food, or maybe she's unwell?

It's actually getting quite cool here too! We bought a beanie for DD today when we were out. The 6-18 month ones didn't fit, so we got a big kid one Damn DH and his big head

MadB i am only seeing a GP at the moment but i might have to try something else. I just started a thread about it before, it's kind of worrying me a little bit.

No i'm pretty sure Harper is fine, she's happy and her normal little self. I'm kind of thinking it's more the stomach at the moment rather than the food itself. It's kind of like she's gone from one type of reflux to another?? I'm just keeping an eye on it for now.

Speaking of bananas i got some the other day and they cost me $17!!!! Like the girl at the checkout was saying people are more concerned about what the bananas cost than the actual cost of the total shop these days.

Yep apart from the last 2 days it's been beanie weather here also...

No beanie weather here girls. Though I have some lovely ones I wish Eden could wear.

I am having trouble with my laptop internet. I have tried to get on here a few times but it's just not working. Lucky I have free Facebook on my iPhone!

Eden has placed himself into a really nice routine which is seeing him sleep through the night. Yay! I woke him at 6.30 this morning. Now I just need to get DS1 to stop needing to go do wee wee's in the wee hours of the night.

Though I was concerned that Eden is only having 4 feeds a day now. He is feeding for much longer than before so I have to guess that he's getting enough. He feeds at 7, 11, 3 & 7. He sleeps from 8 - 9.30am then a long sleep at lunch time. Usually 2.5hrs. Then a short arvo sleep, like 30mins to 1 hr. Though yesterday he slept for 3.5hours at lunch so no arvo sleep for him.

Are you all still wrapping? He is still wrapped cause I want to keep him warm at night as it does get chilli in his room, plus, he is sucking his thumb alot and I don't want him to suck on it all night long.

Hopefully I will get back on here soon, providing my internet stops playing up!

I'm still wrapping Hannah, as such. I bought her a zip-me-up, or ergococoon. Basically, its a bag with no arms that zips right up to her neck. But, she's still tiny.
She's hit the big 5kg mark (about 11 pound) last week, so it was very exciting as 5 kilos was triple her birth weight.

So, no end of the world? Thats OK, I wasn't really looking forward to it anyway.
But, there's one hell of a thunderstorm going on at the moment here, its very impressive. The whole house is rumbling!! I just hope that it doesn't wake Hannah up.

Hannah's still good. I'm not. :'-( Think I've got tonsilitis. Barely slept last night and friday night because of the pain. And could barely talk yesterday. Not sure how I'll go today with my voice, as no-one else is up so I've got no-one to talk to, lol.

I wrap DD during the day and use the wrap me up at night - she won't sleep with her arms out adn even teh wrap me up won't work unless it's dark I think

EJ - yeah I guess it's probably the reflux. Hope you can see someone and get that sorted out. It's been going for ages, hasn't it?

DD still has a snotty nose - I hope she's over it soon. I presume this is why she's waking up so much at night. I've even started trying to use a dummy! She will take it a bit, but aside from the first day nap being a bit longer sometimes, it doesn't seem to have helped at all.

I have been soooooo busy with sick kids and helping a friend with her preschool. She's going through Accreditation and she needs some help with the Principles. It's all aload of ##### if you ask me.
Yeah still wrapping Charlie he won't sleep he keeps hitting himself in the face. He was weighed the other day and he is 8kg his abit chunky hehehehehehe.
madB - can you believe some people took all there money out of the bank as they really believed it was going to be the end.

Well, I thought I'd give Hannah something different for tea, so I gave her some broccoli puree. She scoffed it!! She generally doesn't eat very fast, but she ate the broccoli like her life depended on it. It was very surprising. And I've been experiencing the long talked about 'solids nappies'. I've never wanted to spew by changing a nappy, but now....... pretty gross. And chunky.

Hannah's decided to be a 'big girl' today and she no tired signs until she's been up for 3 hours. She usually only up for an hour and a half. Not sure what has brought on this, but I spose its not a bad thing. Except she's going from 4 sleeps to 2. 10 hours of sleep to 5.
It breaks my heart, but I'm going to move her into the cot tomorrow. She's still in her basinette. Its called a Mother's Choice Coco Delux, if you want to google image it. Its not just a typical basinette.
I was planning to leave her in there til she could move around more, but she's gotten too long for it. And she bounces off the end and it swings back and thumps against the wall. Thats how we know she's awake in the morning lol..

Well, I'm back from Qld, funny you should talk about bananas, there were 2 palms outside my room with full hands of bananas hanging off them!

She's staying awake alot today again. Although she's been having solids for a little while now, she's finally learning to open her mouth for the food. Its so cute. She even makes the 'ahhh' sound.
Another thing is that she's learnt to blow raspberries. Its very cute, but she has spit flying everywhere!!
I'm cold again today. I'm sick of winter already... wait. Its not even winter yet!! Man, I'm gonna die.
Stupid fire not burning properly. Stupid cold weather. Stupid dishes not doing themselves. Stupid me being in VIC and not QLD, lolz.

Charlotte - Trev and I just had a good look at the photos, the surgery was amazing. Certainly looks different, enjoying her baths now! We haven't started Will on any solids yet, he's just not interested.

Did a bit of pump & dump over the weekend I was away, and now with his cold, he doesn't want to suckle hard, but wants to at the same time, poor conflicted boy. Very clingy

That's a lot of stupid stuff! It's cold here too, but I don't want to complain after 6 months of hellish heat. If only it would rain more.

Mi-Moo has managed to roll onto her tummy a few times. She's not happy about it though adn can't seem to get back!

Georgi, I still wrap Millie in her wrap me up. DH decided to leave her arms out last night as "she didn't want them wrapped". So she went to sleep okay, but woke constantly... of course I get up to her at night and DH just doesn't hear her so it's alright for him!!! MadB, amazing that you have beanie weather over there! Has the endless summer really *gasp* ended?! I got Millie a biggish beanie too, it sits up on her head a little but anything that fits more snugly made her grumpy and she'd try to push it off.

Cathie hurray for the 8kg mark! Accreditation is a pest. One of the reasons I am going back to teaching sooner rather than later is that if I'm out of it for too long I'm considered a 'new' teacher and have to go through the accreditation process, which is all paperwork and a HUGE hassle.

Jules sorry to hear about the apple pie incident and the hospital - any resolutions?

Crumpet I hope you're having a good time away... make a list of tips for me please, I'm starting to really freak out about our trip!

All's well here, Millie is 7.8kg and 65.5cm long, and is a raspberry fiend too She's staying up longer and longer during the day, which is fun but exhausting! The afternoon nap is pretty much history. That said, she started pulling her ear a little while ago so I popped her back to bed expecting a fuss, but she's snoozing quite happily... so here I am for the first time in ages!

She's eating a bit, she went nutty for banana porridge this morning (the rafferty's one), maybe because it looked like my porridge? Who knows, but she loved it. She loves pear, doesn't mind pumpkin and sweet potato, but cried about zucchini and cauliflower! Thanks to hazard reduction burn-offs last week, I have sinus again, dammit. (I mean really, what's the point of issuing a health warning AFTER the burn offs start?) Hooking into garlic, Vit C and horseradish tablets as well as sinus tablets. I need to kick it before we leave - I've flown with a sinus infection once and couldn't hear for a week.

...had to sign back in. Millie's up and I've bathed her (DH has moved training to tonight so he doesn't miss the State of Origin tomorrow) and she's chilling in her bouncer while her bottle warms up.

MadB hooray for Miri rolling! Millie still only makes it over occasionally, she's more into circle work and shuffling. I think I'll have a commando crawler on my hands.
