Babies Born December 1st ~ 15th 2008

finally have some spare time to sit, think and type with two hands :)

Everything going well here, ELise is a bit sniffly at the moment though, I think she has caught something from SIL's youngest, she isn't sick just sniffly, we all are though. Might have to get some fess to clear her nose up but it isnt bothering her too much at the moment.

LittleL - definitely is a juggling act trying to get it together in the mornings. I need to leave the house by 8am-810 at the latest as I also drop DH at work, only the one car.
I don't even think about eating breakfast until I get back from dropping Abby off. I have to walk her in cause she is only a newbie, so pj's are out lol. SO fat this week DH has made it to work twice on time lol but its all good we are slowly getting a morning routine organised, would help if DH didn't lie in bed for a half hour thinking about getting up, I need to be up at 6am he doesnt generally get up til 7am.

Claire - I used sleeping bags for DD1 they were great as she used to kick off all her blankets, they kept her nice and warm and toasty in cold Melb winter. I don't need them atm being in QLD now but will be using them again this winter as it gets quite chilly here in Towoomba.

Sararose - Congrats!!!! how exciting, lovely incentive to loose those kg's now!! You've given yourself heaps of time too, good luck with it all :)

Skye - YAY on the sleeping through, Elise is sleeping from 11 or so til 6am now, it's lovely to get 6 hours of straight sleep.
Good luck with your diet.
I have been walking a bit, picking u p Abby from school in the afternoon, she whinges the whole way back home though which is a pain. I've lost a little weight has I can get some of my pants up past my thighs now but they are still way too tight to wear.
*sigh* I hate having to wear the same thing all the time but I really refuse to buy clothes which are two sizes bigger than what I was pre preg.

Hi Everyone!!! I haven't been on here for a very long time and I missed out on everyone's pregnancies!! :doh: We had to disconnect our internet for awhile & I was only checking out the forum now and then. I finally logged back on today and I found this thread where you all are now talking about your beautiful babies...I can't believe I've missed out on soooo much!! CONGRATULATIONS to you all!!! I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone again now......

I had a baby girl named Aaliyah, she weighed 5.14 pounds and she is now 2 months! She was one week early and not to mention it was a 30 hour labour!!!!! it was an experience of a life time!!! However it was all worth it no doubt! she's just beautiful!

I will read what everyone is up to and share my experiences with you all. Maybe get some answers at the same time. Actually I do have one....Does anyone know why she is foaming? she has lots of bubbles and I find I have to keep the bib on her because she dribbles but not too much though....... take care everyone....

well today little laaaaa went for her first dip in the pool and she hated it, so mummy took her back inside and she fell asleep IN THE SHOWER! so i just lay her on our bed in her towel, on top of some terry flats and she had a little nap.

she doesnt sleep much during the day - 2 o 3 20-30 min naps, thats pretty much it. sleeps all night though, mummy is missing the dream feeds :( most of the time she is hasppy to just lay around during the day too.

still havent had her 8 week check, will go down on monday, but i guess its not so important time wise as we arent doing the immunisations.

just aboutt to join the drop off in the morning school club... oh hant on bbl visitors just came.....................

Well since I started back on here I put 'LaLa' (that's her nickname) down for her afternoon sleep and she's been sleeping since! that was at 3 and it's almost 7pm!!! I'm in trouble tonight because she's not gonna sleep hahaha.. might have to wake her up and give her a bath, drink and some lil play before she sleeps again.....We got a new mattress today so I dont think I will be enjoying it much tonight if she's awake!!

LaLa has her immunisations on Tuesday..not looking fwd to the crying ... but I guess it will be worth it.

Hi everyone, I haven't been online for ages! And the last time I tried to post the computer crashed :(

Anyway, Jaycen has been putting on so much weight - he's over 5.5kg now and he's only 7 weeks old! It still feels like it was only yesterday when he was born too... the days seem to be disappearing very quickly... I have trouble remembering what I did on which day.

On the up side, Jaycen has been sleeping through most nights since he was 3 and a half weeks old, he usually sleeps for between 6 and 9 hours at a time.

On the down side he has a blocked tear duct that I have to clean out every day, and AF has visited me twice in the last 3 and a half weeks... it's so not fair grrr lol.

We've also had the fires around here... the one near Churchill was only 20km's away at one point, and to the north there was the Yinnar fire which still isn't completely out, and then to the east was the Thompson Dam fire. DF got stuck up in Sale on saturday night because the princes highway was blockaded in three places. All I can say is thatnk god the baby bonus came through last week so we could get a portable air conditioner... we needed it on saturday, it got to 46.4 degrees down here. How did everyone else manage over the weekend? And I hope everyone is alright and safe.

Anyway, I have to go and make myself some dinner while I have the chance now that Jaycen is asleep, not sure when I'll be back online again... whenever the little munchkin lets me lol

Hope you are all well!

We are going well here, Mia has settled into a nice little routine, bed at about 8pm ish, I give her a dream feed at 11pm, then she wakes at about 4/5am. I feel pretty good getting this much sleep! She is still having a couple of long sleeps in the day, so I get an hour or so then.

Had her hip ultrasound yesterday, all is looking good, we will see the specialist soon to see what he says.

Jenna- sounds like you are pretty close to the fires, glad you are ok, we are an hour away from them. The heat was awful, we have evap cooling, which didnt really help much, but was ok...this cooler weather is much nicer isnt it!

Elise jhas started dribbling alot too in the last week or so, must be just at that age.

Kitten- how are you going with school drop offs? I am finding them such a rush, but I manage to get everything done, pretty much on time. Amazes me how I can get me and the two girls ready to go but I am having to wait for DH to be ready and all he has to go is shower, dress and eat breakfast!

Jenna - I can imagine how smokey it would be near you. I'm a Melb girl originally and used to live near Marysville. It's just so sad.

Skye- glad mia's hip is looking good, good luck with thespecialist hope all goes well.

As for us -
Elise had her 8 week check
she is 5.5kg exactly and 60 cms long, talk about growing at the speed of light, that is 9 cms in 8 weeks, no wonder she looked a little long to me lol.
she is averaging 250g a week so I can't complain.

We have dubbed her Worf, because she is a Klingon.
All smiles when she has your full attention but as soon as you leave her be for a couple mins she will scream the house down until she is picked up and cuddled, but not anyone can pick her up only Mummy.
I love all the cuddles but sometimes I just gotta get things done, especially in the mornings. Hopefully she will grow out of it, but I am not holding my breath. She is so different to Abby who would love to sit under the mobile or toys and watch them talking and cooing to herself.

hi girls, we are doing well, Aimee has been drooling for sometime now between chucks and drool we do a lot of bib/clothes changes a day. She is such a happy smiley bub we are enjoying it so much. I get a dose of mother guilt at times as she is so content she doesn't always get the attention she deserves as Jasmine can be a bit demanding. Finally my bb's have started to settle down in the morning. After having AF she hasn't returned, panicked a bit but have POAS a 3 times in the last month with a BFN thank god so my body must have settled down and the BF must be keeping AF at bay.

Sounds like all of our bubs are doing really well.

Has anyone had any pain down their!!??? Lily will be 11 weeks old on wednesday and the last couple of weeks i have been having internal pain and bleeding. I told my OB wehn i saw him regarding the bleeding, as the pain wasnt really anything at that stage, he did a pap test and said we have to wait for the results which i still dont have, now the pain is getting bad and the bleeding is back, i cant even use tampons (sorry too much info) as it hurts, anyone else gone through this or any ideas? Has anyone got their periods back even though they are completely breast feeding? I am thinking the bleeding could be my periods.

Anthea - you poor thing! that doesn't sound good at all. Did you have stitches? Maybe they are infected? Or maybe you still have some placenta attached? See if you can get another appointment and get an US done to make sure just in case.

My period came back a few weeks ago and I tell you I forgot how painful they can be! blah. I also forgot to get a prescription for the pill so we are still using condoms. blah again lol

Maya gave us a scare the other night when she woke up screaming at 1.30am. She was burning up with a fever of 38.8c. I gave her some panadol and DH gave her some bottle to calm her whilst I rang up Karitane (who was closed on the night I called), then tresillian (who said they couldn't help with medical) and finally the children's hospital at westmed. After a bunch of questions the nurse said it sounded like she is fighting a cold and to go to GP the next day. GP said she has a sore throat and just keep an eye on her. Maya would not go to sleep all night unless I rocked her and every time I tried to put her down she woke up screaming. DH stayed home the next day from work so I could get a few hours sleep. Maya is fine today although she slept a heap!

Other then that Maya is doing great. She loves to talk to the monkey stickers we put near the change table which is so cute. I will upload a vid onto facebook. She is in 00 which are a bit big still but thats ok since she is in cloth nappies now and she needs the extra butt room.

Anthea- Im not sure, I had a C sec, but I just got my second period and it is REALLY heavy, the bleeding all went on my pants and down my legs :( sorry TMI. I think things are a bit more painful down there after birth, but I would get it checked out, hope you are ok.

Mel- Glad Maya is a bit better. Wow you have a very sweet husband staying home from work so you can sleep! Cant see that happening here. Mia is now in a 00 too :( so sad seeing as a 0000 used to be too big!

Ll80- sounds like Elise is a real mummys girl! Thats the one thing which is getting better with us, I can leave Mia on the playmat and have a shower etc and she will usually play for about 20-30 mins if I am lucky. But if she is tired....no way lol.

All is good here, it really is getting easier. She is still waking only once during the night, but she mucks around at 7pm, bedtime, it is usually 8/8.30 by the time she falls asleep. She thinks it's funny to call out all the time lol.

We are going really well here, I really LOVE being a Mummy!! She changes every day and becomes more and more gorgeous!! I feel so lucky. :loveshower:

She has just started recognising other people, like if I pass her to someone she will just look back at me and then stare at the person holding her. The other nght we went out and my Dad held her and she SCREAMED! I took her and she stopped, she went to a couple of other people and she was fine, back to my Dad, one look at him and screamed again! My poor Dad. Isnt it funny how they know who is holding them? Oh and when I walk into the room and she hears me she follows me with her eyes, so cute!

Gosh i haven't been on for so long - i never got any notification emails so i assumed nobody was posting on here anymore!! Well, Ochre has cut a tooth!!! This would explain his "impersonating a newborn" phase at the moment!! I'm so darn tired - he's been waking 3 hourly for feeds in the night and for the past week he has been waking in between those 3 hours just for re-settling so i'm really feeling it this week. He's still dribbling all the time and again i'm putting that down to teething. I'm still in denial he's 3 months old - why does it have to go by so fast?? He is such a strong lil man - i found him half on his back in his cot just before! So he rolled from his belly to his back in the middle of a screaming fit!! On the mastitis front after getting it twice in the space of 2 weeks and then getting another sore spot i went and saw a naturopath. She put me on an acute dose of Potassium every 2 hours and in one day the soreness disappeared. Three days later the same thing occured on my other side so i started the acute dose again and the same thing happened. I'm so happy to have found something that actually works. She also made up a 'new mum' tonic to help me with my tiredness etc.

skyeblue - that's a great routine Mia is doing for you. ochre is doing 2 solid naps during the day too - an hour one and then a 2 hour one later in the day.

mel - i haven't got my period yet...had a little spotting after dtd one night and thought 'oh here we go' but nothing came of it. i'm so not looking forward to it as i get very painful cramps too. how's mayas sore throat?

anthea - i hope u get some answers hon as that doesn't sound very comfortable at all. i am experiencing pain when we dtd so i'm getting doc to check it out when i have a pap smear next week.

sararose - did u have a full period that first time? like i said to mel i had a very small amount of bleeding but it was just that one off so i don't think it was my period. i guess only time will tell if it comes in the next month!

ll80 - i have a klingon too hehe!! ochre doesn't like to be on his own for very long at all and yes it's so hard when there is other things to do, other children to see to. he is starting to get better in his high chair and loves it when his brothers entertain him. he is laughing now which is so cute to hear :)

jenna - gosh that must have been so scary for u hon. i remember seeing your status on facebook about seeing the flames from your house and i was very worried for u and your family.

queenb - congrats on your beautiful daughter Aaliyah!

claire - the party was great fun! all the kids spent most of the 3 hours in the pool so i just hung out with the mums and ate party food!! how's the grobags going? they are fantastic - i used them with my second ds :)

kitt3n - aww Matisse didn't like the pool? we haven't introduced Ochre to it yet...he's dipped his feet in the ocean a few times tho. unfortunately our water is too cold down here for a full swim (for him that is) - but if we move to Queensland i'm sure he will be a big water baby ;)

Elise is actually alseep in her cot for a change, though I had to wait til she was dead alseep in my arms to try and get her down, it worked, so I've managed to go through the entire house and clean, feeling much better about being able to get something done.

LittleL - Wow a tooth already, Elise has been very dibbly lately as well. Have you been using the amber teething necklace at all? how do you find it if you are?
I don't think ELise will be far off rolling, she can sort of get herself half way over, so nice to watch, but sad at the same time, they grow so quickly.
I can't wait until she starts giggling, I've had a couple but not the full blown giggles yet.

Elise is still a Klingon but I am getting some wraps to make life easier for those days when she just wants to be held, she still won't go near anyone other than me, but that's okay, I'll take all the cuddles I can before she starts talking back to me like DD1 is atm. Driving me nuts lol

skye - omg ochre is a dribbling machine. when i hold him up so he's standing on my legs it just pours out of his mouth! he's still chucky after most feeds too and i still haven't caught on yet that i need a burp rag on my shoulder when i burp him so i go about my day with spew stains on my clothes and clumped hair at the sides....classy!!!! :lol:

Gosh these babies are growing so fast! i was watching Ochre today on his daddy's lap - Dh had him facing him and he was so engrossed in his Daddy's shirt collar that he reached out and started playing with it!! just witnessing this little step in growth and development made my heart flutter. i also love it when he spots his hand waving around in front of him and stops and stares at it intently. so gorgeous! ;)

aww littlelalla Mia is doing those exact things too! She will just stare at her fist for AGES as if it's the most amazing thing ever, and get transfixed on one thing like a button. It's so cute! I hope Ochre's tooth is ok, poor little thing.

Hiya ll80! sometimes thats the only way Mia will sleep, to get her in a deep sleep while Im holding her, then put her down! Im glad you got some stuff done.

We had a big day today, went to the shops for hours, Mia was awake the whole time, but since then she keeps waking up, I hope she isnt over tired. Oh well we will see what tonight brings! Where is everyone else?:p

Littlellala- glad you have found something to help with the mastitis. Poor o with his tooth and poor you with no sleep
Skye- hope mia slept well after her big day, its so hard sometimes to settle them when thy get over tired
Anthea - hope you have had the pain checked out, I had something similar after dd1 and passed a huge lump of ?placenta/ clot and it felt so much better after. Hope all is well

Aimee is just beautiful but you girls are right they are growing up soo fast, Aimee has a fascination with her feet at the moment, I dont think it will be long until she is grabbing and chewing them. Aimee is another dribbler and she still does lots of little chucks so I am feeling like the owner of a chinese laundry :rolleyes:. I have had a fe days where I have actually got things done, I even mowed the lawn as it was too long for J to play on, she kept tripping over lol. The girls spoke to their popa on the webcam yesterday, they just love it, Aimee stares so hard at the screen. The siblingjealousy is starting to subside which is good.

We are flying to the gold coast to see my dad in a fortnight and it will be interesting to see how well we all travel, a 2 and a bit year old and a 4month old.

Thursdays I do my shopping and I find whenever we go in the book store Aimee gets hungry so I have just been feeding her as I browse the books, I dont think I would have contemplated that the first time round but it is much nicer than the parents room and no one has really noticed anyway.

I've had mine on Elise for a little bit but noticed when she slept that she had indent marks on her shoulder from it so I took it off. I think in small doses would be ok, it's so small that I don't think they would choke themselves on it. I'd prbably keep it on through the day and see if that makes an improvment for him.
That's probably what I will do with Elise when she starts teething, though with the amount of drool we are having at the moment she might already be.
She has even taught herself how to blow bubbles with it.

Sararose- Good luck with travelling up her to Sunny QLD, hope all goes well for you.

everytime i come to this thread little laa decides to start crying - i have so much to tell you all,i havent posted in here for ages, but i do keep trying!!

ll80 - yeah i thought that's what it would do (indent) and that was my main reason for not putting it on him. omg ochre blows dribble bubbles too!!! i think tomorrow i'll pop it on him for his awake time...i don't know what his problem is atm but he's not doing long sleep stints in the night and wants boobie every 3 hours but only wants it 4 hourly (sometimes 5 hourly) during the day now!!??! surely he hasn't got his day and nights mixed up??

sararose - thanks hon - oh let me know how the trip to the gold coast goes. we are planning a holiday there very soon as hubby is keen to move there!!!! he's thinking Palm Beach/Currumbin/Elanora way. i've only briefly been there (Coolangatta) so can't really remember it that well. such a big move and no family up there so it's not a decision we can make lightly. wish i had a crystal ball at times like these :rolleyes:

kitt3n - she just loves your cuddles too much hon ;) i know what u mean though - i can only get on here when ochre is napping. even when i'm breastfeeding him and i start talking he begins to play up as if to say 'oii mum...no talking while im feeding!" very cheeky ;)

skyeblue - a teething necklace is a necklace made up of small baltic amber beads that babies and young children wear. baltic amber is reputed to help ease teething pain, fight toxic free radicals, as well as boost the immune system of the wearer :D

aimee is still a great night sleeperand I ams till waking up with sore full breasts, hence why I am up now even though she is asleep. I gave in this morning and have gotten up and pumped off 150ml of bm and still feel full! and now I cant get back to sleep. Oh well, better than not enough milk I guess. Aimee is deliberately rolling onto her side now to try and get to me, I love it she is also starting to giggle it is so beautiful. I cant believe how strong she has gotten, she can now sit with a little help. They just grow up so quick

I think the jealousy thing has settled over all but Jasmine has worked out that when I am feeding Aimee I am stuck in the chair and she likes to push the boundaries and do lots of things she knows she isnt allowed. Too smart for her own good Im sure she just wants some attention but it can be frustrating. I try and make bf time book time for jasmine

Just curious for those mums still bf does your bub look at you during feeds, I see all these lovely nursing photos with bubs looking at mums lovingly and aimee and jasmine both stared at my armpit lol. I think my nipples might be angled sideways a bit, not centred on my breast. And aimee concentrates so hard on her feeding at first I dont think she is even thinking about mum then she gets all drowsy

kitten- they know when you want to do something dont they lol, Aimee sits on my lap sometimes when I am on the computer and tries to grab the table, she concentrates so hard on it

Ochre stares at my arm pit too. I don't know how u would get bubs to look at you while feeding - it's not very comfortable. the brief times Ochre has looked up at me he has stopped feeding so i'd rather he stare at my armpit lol ;) what a strong little girl!! u will have to get some pics. gotta run - it's tea time for ochre and he is making sure everyone knows about it. oh his tooth has disappeared back into the gum!! i've heard of this happening to other babies - maybe it decided it's not ready for the world yet lol xx

Hi guys, been a long time. Have been super busy and was unsure for a long time about what group to join as the twins were born on Oct 26. However they are meeting developmental milestones that match their edd 13 Dec. So even though Gabriel and Tallulah are quite a bit older, I hope that you dont mind me joining in as I like to make sure that they are still doing the right things and sharing experiences etc.

I havent read a lot of what has happened, but am hoping to catch on from here if that is ok with all of you?

Welcome back Helen :) Great to hear from you hon! I can imagine how super busy you are....life with 3 is definitely busy for me! There are a lot of us in here with Nov babies so don't worry about the twins being older. It's really nice to keep talking with the same girls...I was also posting in the Nov thread but haven't for awhile now as it's mainly the Nov due date girls in there now.
We had a record sleep from Ochre the other night! He did 8pm to 4am which was just incredible...my other two boys were at their grandparents having a sleep over so i also got a great sleep in too :lol: Hope u are all going well xx

Well I think the twins are having a growth spurt. All they want to do is drink. Gabriel gets really worked up and beetroot red when he is hungry and you are taking your time, whereas Tallulah keeps on crying and if you pick her up, she is really stiff and she punches and pinches she gets so worked up.
They both smile all the time, Gabriel is a real talker.

I gave birth to my DS via c/section on the 17th of Dec. He weighed 3.525kg and are a beautifull, healthy little boy.

I just want to hear what other babies his age are doing and how their mommies are coping with the kiddies.

Kitten- hehe always the way isnt it, just as you start to do something, they cry!

We are going well here, last night was a bit blah though, she was unsettled and crying but finally went to sleep at 9, woke at 12am :o but then slept til 6. I dont get the 12am wake, she never wakes that early.
She has been a bit grumpy and unsettled in the last week, little outbursts of screaming! Not sure what it is. She loves blowing bubbles, drooling everywhere, and her gums are really ridgy...maybe the start of teething??

Have her 4 month needles on Sat, I made it Sat so DH can come too, I was a mess after her 2 month ones, need some support this time lol!

well how is everyone?

laaa is doing really well - almost 6 kgs, smiling, happy, content - we got her first real laugh out of her last week! On DD1's birthday, i told her it was her bday present. She really cracked up - but hasnt really done it again! ah well. but when she cries she really, really cries. I need to get anotehr sling, the HAB and the mei teis I have just dont cut it in comparison to the close carrier, i need two so this one can have a wash!

we are still co sleeping, bfing, slinging it etc.... and she hasnt worn a single sposie, very proud here :) my mornnings have become a little easier as a neighbour now tkaes DD1 to school - ah so much nicer than a hurried walk every morning!

Left laa for the first time ever on saturday night, with DH, first time expressing and didnt even give it a shot first. I figured if i was here she would be less likely to take it KWIM? So DH did well, i came home and they were both asleep :) Took DD1 to see Abba Mania for her birthday, it was really awesome!

SB - could be teethting hun. i thought laa was for a while but its just so hard to tell. she looks cute in her amber necklace though (hubby bought us matching ones for valentines!)

sararose - laaa is the same, sling is so handy! she is very alert and inquisitive - doesnt miss anything.

helen - your twins sound so cute. DD1 has told me "mummy, you need to have another baby and then after that can you please have twins? " :doh::wall:

little l - whoa great sleeper there! matisee goes down around 9pm and gets up at 7/8, but she does have 2 dream feeds (one of each boob) through the night. I still just plonk the boob in her mouth and go back to sleep though :)

and the armpit thing - oh if laa did that it would be great, she is too busy checking everythig out or smiling at me to have a proper feed! She looks up at me, does the most amazing heartwarming smile and i just cant help but smile back at her, then she pulls off and just wants to chat.

its the end of the post and SUCCESS! she has fallen asleep on the lounge. off to make use of the time!!

Elise has just gone to sleep this morning phew!!!
So hard trying to get her into a workable routine that doesn't see her absolutely exhausted before she falls asleep.
With work/school pick ups and drop offs it's hard for her to get enough sleep by the end of the day she is beside herself.
Her problem is as soon as she is moved she will wake up. Abby would stay asleep and was very portable but Elise is opposite, as soon as she is disturbed she is up and alert, even if she is tired.
On the up side she is sleeping from about 7pm til 7am, will give her a dream feed at 9-10ish, sometimes she won't even have that. First few nights my poor boobs were exploding but my supply seems to have sorted itself out. Not leaking too much anymore except for the mornings sometimes.
At 11 weeks she was 5.970kg and 62 cms, long little girl.

Kitten - we had giggles once too a couple weeks ago but havent been able to get them out of her again. Awesome you got some time away to spend with DD1. I really need to do that with my DD1, she feels a bit neglected I think sometimes with Elise permanently attached to my arm.
Does your little laa always wear her teething necklace? I have one here but haven't put it on Elise much yet.

Speaking of which Elise has a bit of tooth poking out but it's at the side, not a front tooth, I don't thnk it's a molar maybe eye tooth or something. Will have to get it checked out. She is always desperate to put things in her mouth, her hands just haven't caught up with being able to put things in there yet so most of the time she chews on her sleeves. ICK!

Oh and she rolled for the first time on Sunday from her tummy to her back, so cute!! She was so proud of herself lol.

I won a competition where they do your hair and make up and you get photos done. so we are doing that on SUnday, which will be nice, i think I have had make up on three time in my almost 29 yrs lol so that should be interesting.

With the feeding Elise has become a fidgeter. She looks at my armpit but her octopus arms are everywhere. She has taken to pushing my boob with her free hand and pressing it down, so she then loses suction and the nipple comes out. grrrrrrrrrrrrr I need a baby straight jacket. She does it over and over, I am not sure if she is trying to get more out of it as she tends to do it alot more after she has been on for about 5 mins so maybe she is getting frustrated at the milk running out.
no issue with supply or weight gain though so I think she is just a very efficient feeder.

I don't breastfeed :( He sucked me raw in two days and I tried to express, but the milk was all bloody and my nipples were not healing. And not like strawberry milkshake bloody, I mean red cordial bloody. I just felt bad about giving it to him and I had issues with him hurting me so much at latching and during feeds, that I made the decision to FF so that I can bond with him in a relaxed atmosfeer. I was crying each time I had to put him on the boob, so instead of resenting him for hurting me, I just did what I thought best and started formula. He does not seem to mind and are perfectly healthy and we are bonding better and I am MUCH more relaxed. I'm sad that I don't breastfeed and now reading all the post about mommies that do, I feel like I should have tried harder. I knew that when I made the decision to stop my boobs were sore, I did not like my baby and I was in a state, but somehow I now feel that I should have persisted. I should have just bit down and bear the pain to get through the first three weeks. On the other hand, DH love that he can feed ds and that I am not crying :lol: every feed.

It's weird for me to experiance this baby. This is a "real" baby. I love that you can wake him up just before you go to bed, give him a bottle, change is diper, break some wind, get some smiles and just pop him back into bed and he is off to dreamland for a night of sound sleeping. Ok he still wakes between 3 or 4 for a feed, but I don't mind, because afterwards he goes back to sleep without me having to rock/shhh/cuddle/sing him to sleep. I love that you can pop him on a blanket in the kitchen and have him actually enjoy looking at his toys, so that I can cook and bake. And I LOVE that sometimes I turn around because he stopped chatting and I would see that he has fallen asleep. I love that I can read his hungry and sleepy signs. OMG and he is heavy!! He weighs about 6kg now and I am really really glad that he does not need to be "walked" to sleep. DD were about 7 months before she weighted 6kg, so this is truely a new experiance and I'm loving it!!

DD were prem. She was in hossy for a month and I expressed BM for her. She came home, but did not smile till around three/four months. She was colicy and had silent reflux and was crying permanently. She did not sleep if she were not held and she drove me and DH bonkers. For the four months I was at home with her, I sat on the couch and held her. I could do next to no chores around the house, because I had to constantly hold dd. We had no sleep and no clue as to what to do with her. To be honest we are still struggeling with her sleeping and she is not sleeping through ... or even in her own bed .. not that we mind ;) Nothing nicer that a little girl curling up in your arm at 3am in the morning :)

Anyway ... I also got some chuckle's twice, but have not been able to get him to do it again.

Can I ask a really weird question .. going to anyway. For those of you that now had your second/third child ... did you love that child straight away? I feel like such a bad mother for not loving my ds from the moment he was born. I liked him .. I think I liked him, but I did not feel half the love towards him that I felt towards my first born and she was the "difficult" baby. I even feel that he is taking away me-and-dd-time. I wanted this baby, but ... I don't know. I am growing to love him now, my heart melts when he give me those gummy-smiles. I just need to know that I will love him as much as I do dd.

Should they be starting to roll over now?? I know ds can go from his side to his back and to his side again, but no rolling over yet. Hmmm will have to check him out over the weekend, more tummy time.

Hi Nadine, not a weird question with both my DD I have fallen in love with them over time. I felt something for them from the start but it has grown so much stronger as time has passed.

You poor thing, your nipples sounded so painful, I can understand that you might feel disapointed that you didn't contiune with breastfeeding but it doesn't mean you made the wrong choice. It sounds like you have a good sleeper there. Aimee can roll from her back to her side but not over completely yet and she is 4 months tomorrow. She was due 8th dec but came 4 weeks early so I have joined this baby buddies group to keep up with the same girls from the belly buddies group.

Well Aimee woke up for the first time during the night last night in 2 months. DF has a sore throat and Im sure she does too she was screaming everytime she swallowed I felt so sorry for her. Baby panadol worked wonders but I think tonight might be another sleepless night. I hope it doesnt last long. Its so horrible when they are i pain and dont know why and you cant explain it to them

Poor Aimee, I hope she feels better real soon ... and your DH. And I hope they don't spread the "love" around so you get sick ;)

Thanks for the support and for answering my question. I am sure that in time I'll love him just as much, it's just that DH is asking me constantly if I love him already :rolleyes: and he makes remarks that I don't give as much attention to ds as I did with dd. But in my defence (and I have told him) dd were so small and this one is just growing up overnight by himself. I could be a bit oversensitive also, just because it's bothering me. I should just sit back, relax and let time do it's thing.

Hey Nadine we are FF here too. It was the best choice for us at the time, but you are right, Im always thinking if only Id tried a little harder, etc. But I have accepted it, and bub and I are both happy because of it. Feeding is a relaxed and happy experience now.
Sorry I cant offer any experiences about a second child, DD is my first, but it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job. And of course you arent spending as much time with DS because you also have DD to look after, and when DD was a baby she had colic.

ll80- wow, 7-7 now that's a sleep I dream of. At the moment M is going to bed at 8, dream feed at 11, then sleeping til 4/5, feed then awake at 7ish. So not too bad, but I dream that one day she will sleep through! lol.

Sara- I hope little Aimee is ok poor thing :( Glad the panadol worked.

M is laughing alot, it is sooo cute. Absolutely no signs of rolling, heck she can barely lift her head while doing tummy time. I dont think I do tummy time enough...:( will do it when she wakes lol.

It's DHs bday today, I have planned a dinner of pesto & sundried tomato chicken and roast potatoes....his favourtite meal. Not so good for the waist line though hehe.

oh Nadine don't feel bad one little bit about FF your beautiful little bub, you are doing what is best for you and your family, that is all we can do.
Elise is my second bub and it certainly is different this time around. When she was born I had a definite feeling of needing to protect and nurture but the love has come gradually, I am enjoying Elise alot more though, I am more relaxed maybe becauise I know no matter how fussy or whingy sheis, how little she sleeps, that it will pass and it will all be ok.

Skye - that sinner sounds yummy, want to make me some too lol.
Don't stress about tummy time, I think I have out Elise on the floor maybe 4 times lol on her tummy, she is just a very strong little bub. I was so surprised when she rolled as she is literally never out of someones arms unless she is in the cot, pram, sling. she has been able to hold her head up from about 2 weeks on her own for long periods of time, so don't go by Elise she is not the so called "norm"
They all go at their different rates and once they are up and about rolling, sitting etc you will want them to be oh so nice and floppy and cuddly again :)

We have limited tummy time too. Thing is I have to WATCH him if he is on his tummy and with me working and only really seeing them after day-care, I want to look him in the eye as much possible. And honestly .. these old bones don't like laying on the floor eye-level for little bubs :lol:

DS has also been able to hold his head up since about two/three weeks. He is really strong. That surprised me, because I did not know babies can be that strong this young.

Lol Nadine, sure! I LOVE cooking! When DD was born I didnt cook for the first few weeks, it was very hectic, but I missed it so much. now Im right back into it! I missed cooking and reading, didnt get time to do either, but now I do thankfully.

I feel a bit better about the tummy time now, I guess I put it off because she doesnt like it. But her neck is strong like when I carry her over my shoulder she lifts her head right up.

We just wen out to the shops and I bought a massive coffee, now I am buzzing! hehehe.

How does everyone get their little ones to sleep during the day>? Mia used to go down ok, but recently has started to scream and protest as soon as I lie her down. This morning I had to go in 6 times before she fell asleep. Should I just persevere with going in every 5 mins to put the dummy in and stroke her head? I figure doing this is better than picking her up, dont want to start that one! hehe.

Don't know about everyone else but it seems like every time I get on here to type, Maya starts crying or the website crashes and i lose what I type!

It's been crazy busy here as we have been house hunting and now finally found a house! yay. We move 9 April so its all systems go for packing - ew. I forgot how much it costs just to move, its all so expensive :(

Maya is doing great. She is still sleeping through the night. She normally goes to sleep between 9-11pm and gets up between 7.30-9am. She has also started waking up and playing instead of crying which is nice. Easier to wake up to that as I normally let her play until she starts crying. I hear her gooing and talking to the mobile above her bed. During the day she still have day sleeps but its normally only about 1hr at a time. She is also in her bouncer during the day and the TV is always on so maybe the catnaps during the day allows her to sleep better at night. She still cluster feeds at night which can be annoying as all she wantes to do is feed around dinner time. Least she is bottle feed so I make DH do it whilst I cook hehe

Maya has also have 3 fevers in 3 weeks. The highest got up to 39.9. Was talking to the childrens hospital and they seemed to think it was ok but after the last fever I took her to the GP and they wanted a urine sample! They gave me the standard container for it and told me to catch the pee lol (There is a bag available but it isn't as good a sample according to the GP). Anyway after a bit of mucking around I managed to catch it! yay me. Now a week for the results to see if its a UTI...

Maya hasn't rolled over yet but her little butt and legs go like crazy when she is on the floor and she loves standing up leaning up against you if you support her body. She is also loves the TV and often that is the only thing that will stop her crying when she gets cranky lol oh well

She is also 'talking' like crazy and smiling at us as well which is lovely. I think she also laughed just before but she also got the hiccups and was poo'ing at the same time so maybe it was just that...

Welcome Nadine and welcome back Helen! Maya was born like a week after your twins but I just stayed in this group since it was easier and everyone knew Maya anyway!

Just popping on while Ochre has his arvo nap. He is still wanting a couple of feeds in the night so I'm very exhausted atm. Anyone got any good under eye concealer!?? That fantastic 8 hour sleep was a one off - but i'm stretching him out during the night now and replacing the boob with the dummy so I can hopefully get him down to just one feed in the night. i ran into a mum who had her son on the same day as Ochre and she told me he sleeps from 8 to 8!! If only.....! The broken sleeps are taking their toll - i even missed the turn off to DS 1's school the other day i was so vague!! :rolleyes: On the up side our little man self settles very quickly without help most of the time which is wonderful and is very good (most of the time!) at going down for naps in the day. Ochre has started moving in his cot. Because he belly sleeps he has worked out now that he can move and he is now moving himself from one end of the cot to the other! Still a dribbling machine - i change his cot sheet daily as it gets so wet. I have to take him to an eye specialist tomorrow. My doc noticed he has a very slight lazy left eye and one pupil is always smaller than the other. I hope it's nothing too serious.

mel-cur - wow on those awesome sleeps - u must feel amazing! i hope you get some good results back on the UTI - poor Maya, having a fever is horrible.

skyeblue - i didn't do mothers group with Ochre. i already have 2 for my other sons and atm it's hard to just get out to kindergym and swimming lessons for DS2. i would just perservere with what you are doing hon. ochre doesn't always settle straight away either but if you keep doing that routine she will get the gist soon enough. Happy b'day to hubby - the dinner sounds delish!

Nadine - hello and welcome! you sound like you are really loving your new baby! that's awesome hon! motherhood is not always easy and some days can really get you down but just to be able to feel that gooey feeling inside when you gaze upon your little creation makes up for all of it!

Sararose - how's Aimee going with her throat? hope she is feeling much better hon :D

kitt3n - is Matisse still feeding 3 hourly during the day? Ochre has started refusing the 3 hourly every now and then and sometimes goes 4 or 5 hours. I try to stretch him out more at night but when he doesn't want the dummy back in he certainly makes it very obvious so i guess he still wants those booby feeds in the night. It's so random though. One night he demands it every 4 hours then the next he does a 7 hour straight sleep! And i keep asking myself did I do something different during the day..is that why he slept better! Arghh!! :rolleyes:

ll80 - octopus arms lol! have u tried wrapping her again like when she was a newborn. I had to feed my DS1 that way - he lost concentration so quickly when his arms were free. Ochre is such a better feeder. I love it when he cups my boob so to speak or finds a lock of my hair and plays with it while he feeds. ;) Gosh, Elise is such a great sleeper!! And well done on winning the comp - can't wait to see the pics!
