Babies Born December 1st ~ 15th 2008

Hi all, it's been ages since I was last on here. How is everyone?

Hello and Welcome Nadine! And welcome back Helen!

Things have been hectic here, we've been doing a lot of fundraising for the people who lost things in the bushfires, this weekend we have a motorbike ride and show day to raise money to buy push bikes for the kids who lost their's in the fires. We've had 13 bikes donated so far and we've been told that 40-odd people have expressed an interest in coming along on sunday. Should be interesting lol

Jaycen is asleep at the moment, he's been awake for 4 hours. Seems like that's going to be the norm for now on, the past three weeks he has stayed awake for 3-4 hours at a time, have a 1 hour sleep in the morning, and again in the afternoon and a few 5-10 minute naps during the day. The only time I can get anything done is after 10pm! lol and by that time I am bushed.

At least Jaycen is still sleeping from 11:30pm through to 7-8am, makes life so much easier.

Started going to mother's group 3 weeks ago too... it's quite interesting. And I'm so proud to say that Jaycen is the youngest there and is bigger (in both height & weight!) than over half of them! He's such a little chubba man :)

He started laughing properly the other day, it was so sweet and exciting, it nearly brought me to tears. He only laughs if I'm bouncing him on my knee though, he won't do it for anything else. He's also all smiles, wakes up in the mornig talking to himself (or maybe it's the toy hanging off the top of the cot... I'm not sure), and gives me half an hour to wake up and get his bottle ready before he starts grizzling.

Sorry for having a bit of a rant, DF has been away all week and I've been home alone with Jaycen, it's hard doing everything by yourself, I have the utmost respect for single mothers now.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing good, and hopefully I'll be able to get back online again soon!

Heheeeee we were in the bank today and I had Mia in the baby bjorn and I was making some funny noises and she fully cracked up laughing!! She just kept going, like a laughing fit! It was so cute, the people around us were all smiling and laughing.

Mel- I had a laugh at your FB post......lol the image of you trying to get the pee is funny! I hope her temps have settled and the results are ok. Good luck with the moving too, your new house looks awesome, love the yard. I was looking at FB before and we had very similar bridesmaid dresses!

Littlelalla- I hope Ochre starts sleeping a little longer.Re the feeding, mia can barely go 3 hours without milk during the day- usually its 2 hours! But she wont drink the whole bottle. She just wants frequent feeds. Shes getting a little pot though, should be careful.
I hope Ochre's eye is ok, he looks perfect to me!

Jenna- nice to hear from you! Sounds like Jaycen is doing really well. He does sleep well at night...does he have a sleep before 11pm? Mia cant last much after 7pm, she usually crashes at about 7.30pm.
Hope you are coping ok with hubby being away. It is hard on your own.


Mia goes to bed at night quite early it seems? No matter how hard I try, she cannot stay awake after 7.30pm. She will sleep until 4 or 5, but I will give her a dreamfeed at 11. Cant wait for tonight, its DHs turn for the early morning feed. but for some reason she cries when he does it, so annoying because then I wake.

4 month needles tommorow. Im so not looking forward to them. Im remembering the blubbering mess I was last time, atleast DH is coming too.

Skye - Ochre is exactly the same - crashes around 7.30pm and it's so hard to keep him awake for even that time. i was told once that babies that go to sleep by 7 supposedly sleep all night long lol....yet to see it happen! We are getting lots of little giggles but nothing like what Mia did. that would have been so cute ;) Oh his eye is fine! So relieved. The specialist said there is no problem there. Thank goodness! Hope Mia's needles went well....xx

Jenna - wow 4 hours!!! ochre barely lasts 1.5 hours awake time and then he wants to nap again. maybe i should keep him up more? it's kind of handy having him nap tho. he does a great 2 hour nap from 1 to 3 everyday...if only i had someone take DS2 and then i could nap too ;)

Has anyone turned the baby seat around in the car so that it's forward facing? We did with ours the other day. Ochre is horrible in the car - he cries all the time and only stops if he has his dummy in. I thought if we turned him around he'd get better but he hasn't. I don't remember my other boys being like that. xx

Littlelalla- Mia is not good in the car either!! She is still in a capsule though.
Im glad Ochres eye is ok.
We started rice cereal today *ducks for cover* the GP told me to start her on it! Im not sure if I will continue though, I will see how she goes with it.


ha about the sleep all night thing...not happening here either!!

Mias needles were fine, she didnt cry. She even enjoyed the oral liquid lol. She has had no side effects what so ever!

Just stopping in briefly while DFis getting Jaycen dressed after his bath. Jaycen just got weighed this morning, he's now 6.765kgs! So he's put on a whole kg in 4 weeks. I'm so proud of my little chubba!

Skyeblue - He has a bit of a nap for 10-30mins between 8:30 and 10:30, but he usually wakes up before 11 for his feed. Last night heslept from 6:30pm to 7am! He slept for a whole 12 hours!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, I've gotta run, need to get a few things for the week.

Littlelalla - Maya isn't very good in the car either. It depends what mood she is in. We put up this carousel mobile thingy which I clipped on the hand hold in the roof and she likes watching the motion of that so i think that helps. We also sing a lot to her to calm her down.

Just booked Maya in for her needles tomorrow with DH. His turn!!!

Skyeblue - I would of thought 4months would be early for starting solids? I guess see how she goes and go from there. Did she like it?

Maya got another fever on thursday/friday! That's 4 fevers in 4 weeks!!! So we took her to the ER. Damm they were hopeless. I was trying to tell the peds nurse what had happened and he just kept walking away all the time. At least the peds doc was better. They did another urine test (which there were no beds available and it was lucky I had the pram so I did the pee collecting in there.) I got the pee within 1mins which was totally cool imo (trying catching pee in a little container when you don't know when they pee lol). The doc said they normally have to put a catheter in!!! Can you believe that - no way in hell were they doing that to Maya. I would of preferred to wait all day to catch the pee. Anyway tests came back all clear so they have no idea why she is getting the fevers... great

oh forgot to mention that Maya is 6.4kg now.

Jenna - gee your little one must be a little cubba. How cute. Great how big and strong he is - I imagine he will be crawling in no time!

kill me now lol has taken me all morning to get Elise to take a nap.
She was an angel all weekend, she slept so well through the day, I stuck to the same routine this morning, except for dropping Abby off at school and all hell broke lose, she just cried until she could cry no more.
I think I need a valium, might help us both calm down lol
maybe a couple shots of vodka will suffice.
Weekends she is so happy, but during the week she will just not sleep.
House is a mess and I can't get anything done.
Dh has been interstate all weekend, comes back tomorrow and I am just feeling over it.
I get no help, I do everything by myself all the time, DH works hard and is also trying to finish off his degree, he helps as much as he can but I really miss the little bit he does when he's not here. Even just someone to debrief with at the end of the day KWIM?
Deep breath, whinge over!!

Mel - that sucks about the fevers. fevers help the body to kill off bad germs so maybe she is doing a good job of fighting off what ever it is. If she is otherwise happy and healthy I wouldn't tend to worry unless they got super high.

Jenna - wow what a lovely chubba you must have :) Elise has just got to 6kgs but she is very long 62 cms.

Skye - I won't harp on about the solids but I won't be giving Elise anything until at least 6 mths. Have a look on the world health organisation website about feeding babies, some very good info on there. GP's aren't always up to date with these things.

LittleL I know what you mean about the crying in the car, we are hit and miss with Elise she is either great or horrible. She is pretty good on long trips though just the short ones she gets a bit fed up with. I think they are too little to turn around just yet, in an accident their head and necks just aren't strong enough. Toys might be a good distraction like Mel said, I'm looking into what I can put in the back to keep Elise amused as well.

We didn't end up getting our photos done cause DH had to go interstate and the chances of me getting to sit down for an hour to get hair and make up done with Abby and Elise, were zilch lol ahh well next time!!

Hi all
We are home now. The holiday was great and the girls travelled really well. Aimee screamed for 20mins on the way there but she is teething and was getting over her sore throat. She is much happier now but still has a runny nose. Aimee can now pick up her toys and shove them in her mouth, she looks so happy when she manages this lol, she also loves chewing her hands, have gone through a bit of bonjela with her sore gums but no teeth through yet.

Aimee had her first trip to the beach and even dipped her feet in the water ;). We thought something had possessed Jasmine as last time she was at the beach she whinged and sooked about the sand and wouldn't go near the water, this time she wanted to run straight into the water clothes and all. Tony and I are still a bit dumbstruck.

Thursday we are seeing the GP for vaccinations and measurements, I am interested in how long she is as she seems enormous to me :lol:.

ll80 - I feel for you mmy df works long hours but the help he gives me when he gets home helps me keep my sanity. It must be so hard when he is away. Is there anyone else who could take Abbey to school one day a week now she has settled in so you could have a break, mabye another mum near by you could take turns with to do the school run or treat yourself to a cleaner for a month? Dont you wish money grew on trees

mel_cur- poor mia you did well to catch the pee that is bloody hard I had to do it once with J. I hope you get some answers soon, have you got a regulare paed or are you just seeing the GP? Moving house with a bub must be challenging, do you think you will stay at the new place for a while? I saw the pics on facebook looks like a great family home.

Jenna- sounds lake Jaycen is doing well, I love chubby bubs the rolls are so cute, I really have to wash all of aimee;s rolls as all sorts of stuff gets trapped in them lol.

Skye - glad mias needles went well, I am going to wait a bit longer this time before I start solids as Aimee is growing so well without them and as ll80 said the WHO suggests 6 months for solids. Mia might be ready though let us know how she goes, so much fun when they start solids but soo messy and the poos yick!

littlelala- I love that arvo nap Aimee is still having a 3-4 hr mid day nap, and also a 30min-1hr morning nap, she needs them or gets really cranky. Aimee is still in a capsule and the info I not from the red cross suggested to leave them rear facing as long as possible eg when they are at the upper weight limit for rear facing before turning the seat as that is safest. Aimee is pretty good in the car as she is semi upright, lay her flat and she is not happy lol. We hace a few toys that keep her occupied poor o hope he starts to enjoy the car.

hi ladies, looks like we are starting to get a little chattier in here now LOL

Well laaa is doing well, but DD1 is home to day with the runs AND a runny nose - i hope the baby doesnt catch anything.

She seems to be extending her night sleeps now, from about 8:30pm to 8:30am. Still has a couple of dream feeds during the night, but i really dont mind cos i just sleep through it LOL and i heard it helps to maintain your milk supply.

She just gnaws on everything now, when she scores my fingers she clamps down so hard, it actually hrts! But as for day time, she was having a 20min to an hour nap at 9;30, 12:30, 3:30 and 5:30 (ish!!) but with these long night sleeps of the last few days thats yet to be determined!

sara - we need a holiday too. just camping, would be so nice, you must feel nice and fresh?

ll80 - let it all out anytime hun, i'll be your debrief! are you on gmail?

mel - poor maya, it is so hard when a little one is sick, i hope you are keeping yourself sane too :hugs:

jenna - sounds like jaycen is doing fine!

skye - i gave DD1 her first custard at 4 months, on the advice of my mum, and now, looking back, she really wasnt ready.

well, she is still asleep, best go make use of the time :)

Sararose- glad your holiday went well :) I have a baltic amber teethng necklace on Elise 24/7 now and I've noticed she is no where near as grizzly as she was before. She will still get anything she can in her mouth to chew down on. Mainly her fists lol but I don't think it's really bothering her anymore IYKWIM.
No one to take DD for me I don't really know anyone up here well enough yet, only living in QLD for just under a yr. Elise was much better this morning, same routine as yesterday but she went straight to sleep after school drop off, something must have been upsetting her yesterday, tummy maybe as we haven't had a poo for a couple days.

ll80 - after reading your last post i just popped Ochre's amber necklace on him too. I don't know whether it's teething or not but he has been very hard work the last 2 day. :rolleyes: I have had to feed him standing up because he just refuses to be breastfed when i sit down with him. He's ok with the night time feeds - just the day ones. Weird!!

Jenna - awesome sleep! i can only dream of that kind of night :rolleyes: i think i've worked out Ochre is the worst sleeper in this group!

kitt3n - ochre chews on his fingers too and we call him the 'ruggy monster' as he get's so excited when we give him a wrap he rubs his face in it and then proceeds to try and get as much of it as he can in his mouth!

Sararose - so how was the Gold Coast? Did you go near Currumbin or Tallebudgera? We are thinking of moving there in a years time. I'm going to get hubby to move the car seat back around - he is very strong but i think i will give it a few more months. And i will definitely invest in something dangly to keep his interest.

mel - oh no another fever!! glad the results came back fine - must be so frustrating to not know what's causing them?

skye - hon i started my boys on solids at 4 months - it was the done thing back then and they took to it like ducks on water. every child is different. you will soon know if it's too early or not for her :)

Well, life is about to get very busy - or even busier as we are putting our house on the market. I'm already finding it hard to get anything done with Ochre on my hip all day long. Not a great time to move house but we'd like to get our debt down before we do the BIG move to Queensland. I just went down to CAHS and weighed Ochre. He's 4 months tomorrow. He weighs 7.2 kg and is about 66cm long. So he's sitting very well on the charts. ;)

I should but the amber necklace for Maya! Don't know if she is teething but she loves sucking her hand, wrap, toys or anything with her grabbing range which is cute - she makes so much noise as well hehe

Maya had her 4month needles and was great! DH took her and she did do a little cry but she was happy and smiling straight after and has been in the best mood since! No more fevers but keeping a close eye on her - they are normally a week apart.

littlelalla - very frustrating not knowing. Thankful it isn't anything to serious. DH mum mentioned but DH and his brother had recurring fevers when little and no one could pin point what was causing it but they they stopped suddenly (although his brother did develop a heart murmur latter)

Sararose - we have just been seeing a reg GP but if she gets a fever again I will take her to the peds doc. Yep we will be staying in this house for ages hopefully. We were renting before and now buying and plan on doing a heap of renovations like putting on another storey etc. DH has his heart set on a lap pool as well. I said fine as long as we get a spa lol

Has anyone else notices their babies have had stinky stinky poo's since the 4month needles? omg they have been so bad!!! gag

mel_cur- they get the smell poo's are becuase of the rotavirus vaccine (gastro vaccine) its a small dose of the live virus so they get a small dose of gastro lovely isnt it

Well the last few days have been hard, M has been quite unsettled in the afternoons and last night she was up twice, which was ok, but the 2 nights before that she was up 5 times!!! I dont know what is going on, I dont think she is hungry...

Skye - maybe she has started teething?

Thanks Mel, I think she possibly could be, her gums look different, cant feel anything there though.

Hi all

I was wondering if I could join in with you guys. My DS was born on 10/12/2008 2 weeks early, he was due 24/12/2008.

Overall he is a pretty good baby. We have had a few issues with his feeding. DS is ff after a hard introduction to bf and overall I am happy with the decision to ff. Recently the GP thought he had reflux but I have my doubts. Last week he just seemed to snap out of his grumpy behaviour, fingers crossed it stays that way!

Our main issue is day sleeps at the mo. Little man wont sleep for more than 1 sleep cycle which makes it hard to get anything done. Although I would rather have cuddles than do housework any day!

Nights aren't too bad but he is yet to sleep through. He usually wakes between 3-4 for a feed but is straight back to sleep after that. The longest he has gone is 4:50 at this stage.

Hi Isabel welcome

my little girl Aimee was due 8/12/08 but arrived early on the 11/11/08 but I have joined this baby buddies group as I know a lot of these great girls from our bellt buddy thread. The short day sleeps must make things tricky, Aimee has a lot of short day sleeps but then has a really good sleep in the arvo for 2-3hrs in her cot with the lights out. Wish I could help you more but she settled into this routine on her own.

Littlelala- sounds like o is growing well, how long before you make the big move? Our holiday was great but we didnt actually spend much time on the gold coast Dad lives in Evans head 1 hour south of Byron Bay, gorgoues little town its so relaxed.

mel_cur - a spa would be lovely one day (dont think it'll be in the budget for us for some time). The stinky poo's after vaccination are because of the rota virus ( a form of gastro) vaccination, it is a live vaccine so they get a mini dose of gastro - yucky but better than the real deal. When I worked in paeds we would often have half the ward full of kids with rota virus when there was an outbreak that was really bad

Skye- hope Mia is a bit more settled for you, if only we could speak baby and understand what is going on

Kitten hope little laa has continued with the good sleeps

Well I think Aimee's throat is better but she still has a blocked nose which is making feeds tricky, she gets frustrated with not being able to feed and breathe at the same time (perfectly understantable I'd crack it if it were me). She now is 67cm and 7kg so growing well, paed thought her weight percentile had dropped and it had on the paeds chart but not the one in the blue book (the one they get at birth) so who knows she is looking chubby and bright still and still gaining so Im not worried. We will go back for another measure in about a month. I think she is becoming a thumb sucker, now she has found it she loves putting it in.

Hey everyone, just dropping in briefly.

Things aren't so good here at the moment, it's becoming a struggle to get Jaycen to nap at all during the day, he only falls asleep after he has become so overtired that he can't keep awake any longer or when he's in the pram and I'm walking. It's frustrating because I can't get anything done. Then when he is asleep 9 times out of 10 he wakes up screaming. MCHN sayd it's a stage, but it's damn frustrating and I'm in enough pain as it is.
My neck and the base of my skull has been sore, and I've been getting really bad migraines and tension headaches for 3 weeks now, I'm going to the doctors on thursday so hopefully I can find out whats going on.
I've also had AF 5 times now, my body has gone completely haywire!

On the upside, I've started working as an Avon rep and will be having a stall at my local sunday market selling bits and pieces from around the home, like jewellery, baby items, avon products, linen, furniture and other household items. I'm also selling Nappy Cakes. It brings in a bit of extra money, so it's worth it.

Sorry about my rant, needed to get it out, and DF is away at work so I can't lump it all on him.

I hear ya on the no day sleeps, I am lucky to get one sleep cycle out of Elise during the day, so about 40-45 mins then she is up and only has cat naps for the rest of the day.
She is in bed by 830pm and sleeps through til 6-7 though, lucky otherwise I would be one unhappy mumma. I tend to get what I need to done at night after she has gone down.
I just can't do anything during the day and was making myself stress out about it, so switched to nights.
If you leave him in the pram after a walk will he stay alseep? I've done that a few times with Elise, left her just inside the front door.
I hope you get your migranes sorted, poor thing.

Sara- glad Aimee is feeling better, nothing worse when they are sick, feel so sorry for the poor little mites.

Hiya to everyone else Imissed, can't remember what you all said now, late and I am tired, you all know how it is.

Jenna/ll80/Isabel - that would be very frustrating. its sounds like it's one or the other as Ochre is the opposite - he has 3 naps during the day and only lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours awake time before he needs to sleep. he is still asleep now (its 3pm and i put him down at 1!) but unfortunately he doesn't sleep as well at night. last night was our best one in ages and he still was up twice for feeds between 8 and 7.30am. have u tried putting bubs down in his/her bed for day sleeps? O has all his naps in his cot - he seems to know that this means nap time.

sara- that's great weight and length hon - i wouldn't be worried at all. mmmm.. a relaxing holiday in Qld sounds just divine :) we probably wont be moving that way for another year. just going to sell the house we own now and rent my inlaws to save money. O is a bit of a finger sucker too = they seem to be permanently in his mouth!

skye - how's Mia going? did u try taking the dummy away like u said on facebook? i can understand your frustration as O pulls his out all the time and i feel like i'm forever going in and out of the room to put it back in some days/nights.

Little lalla: I normally put DS in his cot for all sleeps while we are home. He will sleep in the pram as well but as soon as you stop moving he wakes up so I cant park him whike he is asleep. I swear people at shopping centres think we are loony doing laps of the shopping centre while my angel sleeps! He used to sleep in the swing and in our arms but he doesn't seem to do that anymore. He just screams till you put him in bed.This makes it hard at mothers group as I have to put alot of effort into putting him to sleep in my arms as we cant have our prams in the room.

I am hoping that DS will sleep better in the day when he gets older and is a bit more active. The cat naps are annoying but not the end of the world. I just need to be a bit more organized. On the topic of cat naps DH came homne from work one day and I hadn't been able to do any housework because of DS cat naps. Anyway I asked DH to sit on the couch with DS while i do a quick clean of the house. His response: Oh that is annoying, I cant relax coz I need to lift my feet so you can vacum under them!! :rolleyes: OMG I thought I would strangle him! I think he realised how stupid that comment was as soon as it came out of his mouth!

To all those who are having trouble with cat napping....Mia was the same, having only 30- 40 mins at a time. I have started a new routine with her during the day, and now she sleeps 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, and a 1 hour nap later in the afternoon. It is so fantastic, I pray it lasts. She sleeps for 2 hours on the dot.
So, Im so happy it seems our days are working out really well....I can type out the routine if anyone wants..

Having said that, our nights are still crap. She is waking twice a night, at 1.30am and 4.30am then she gets up at 6. I have tried to resettle, etc but she is wide awake. Atleast I get to sleep in the day!

Sara- sounds like Aimee is doing so well. Mia is now 6.5 kilos, not far behind! She has such chubby cheeks.

Jenna- sorry to hear you are having a tough time. Does Jaycen settle on his own? Let me know and I can tell you our routine, might be worth a try. Thats awesome about the extra money, who do you sell the nappy cakes to? Id love to do something like that.
Migraines SUCK, do you take medicine for them?


ll80- sounds like your nights are fantastic, I wish. I have the opposite problem!

Isabel- welcome! I had Mia on 15/11, she was due 4/12. 3 weeks early. Like the other ladies I was in this belly buddies group, so have stayed here.

The first day was a bit hard, but she has adapted so well! Oh and sometimes I will feed her extra if she is hungry!

7am- feed
8am- walk
8.45am- Bed
10.45/11- wake up and feed
1pm- Bed
3pm- wake up and feed
4.30pm- Bed
5.30pm- wake up and go for a walk
6.00pm- bath
6.30pm- feed (but have been giving a bit earlier)
7pm- bed.

It is good having this routine, I have adjusted it like if I have to go out Ill move her sleep forward etc, it is a rough routine, but works well. I started this on Monday and on the first day she started the 2 hour sleeps....I think it is because I held her out til 8.45am....

Skye - Ochre does kinda the same routine - he does a one hour nap in the morning straight after school drop off (absolutely no time for a walk!), 2 hours in the middle of the day (1pm to 3pm) and another hour in the arvo. because of the chaos that surrounds tea time he doesn't go to bed til 8 ish....do you bath Mia every night? i think fresh air does wonders for them. the days i have had Ochre outside for more than an hour he has had a better nights sleep. great to hear your new routine is working :)

Isabel - omg Ochre is exactly the same - he doesn't like to be held 'like a baby' anymore. he used to love falling asleep on my chest but he really has to be in the right mood for that now. he still looves his carrier and will sleep in that which is very handy when i take DS 2 to kindergym or do the shopping ;)

oh forgot to add - skye i don't even have the mood thingy on the screen anymore so I haven't been able to change my 'hot' status either!! where has it disappeared to?!?!?!

Lachlan will not sleep on my chest at all anymore. He did it for the first time in ages a couple weeks ago and DH took a photo as I think it will be the last time he will do it :(
I cant believe how quickly they grow up. My boy is turning into a Mr independant!

littlelalla75 - I'm lucky that Jaycen will sleep anywhere when he does get tired, or overtired, enough to sleep. Tried cot, tried pram - he wakes up within 10 minutes of me stopping walking, tried floor - it works occasionally but only when he's overtired, even tried my bed - only works after a bottle lol and sometimes not even then.

Skyeblue - Jaycen will 'occasionally' settle on his own lol usually he needs his dummy and the little musical toy going to get to sleep. His dummy ends up falling out at some point while he's asleep, and he only grizzles for it if he isn't in a deep sleep.
I'm selling the nappy cakes at my local sunday market this weekend, hopefully I'll sell some. I was sick of being bored at home when Jaycen was sleeping or playing with his baby gym when I remembered the nappy cake that I'd bought before he was born (luckily he never fitted into the nappies it was made out of lol they were huggies newborn ones, so I can re-sell it too). I'm selling them for between $7.50 for one with 7 nappies in it to $20 for one with 35 nappies in it. Some are made with Snugglers nappies and others are made with Drybots which are the ones that I use for Jaycen and only cost $13 for a pack of 44.
The only routine we have is first morning feed and last night feed then bed lol because I usually go down the street every two days it would throw out any routine we started, so everything is on demand, feeds included.
I've been taking ibuprofen as my usual codeine-carrying pain killers weren't working. So far it's making everything more managable. I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully she can tell me whats wrong, or prescribe me something stronger. DF and I have a suspicion that it might be my pillow that's caus9ing all the problems, but I've been using DF's pillow this week and it hasn't been helping at all, so it's all a bit mysterious.

Same here...tried to get Mia to sleep on me today at M's group but she wouldnt, had to take her home to bed, she will only sleep there, not even in the pram!

Littlelalla I cant see the mood thing either! :wall: Yes I bath Mia every night, she LOVES her nightly baths! ;)

Hi All

Maya has been going great lately. Heaps of smiles and getting very active. She is so strong! She has also started rolling onto her side finally and loves grabbing her legs. She was being a real bugger with her bottle lately - after about 90mls she would pull off screaming and was really had to get back on. She would suck a bit longer then scream again. DH figured it out! We still had her on the slow teat! We upgraded to the next teat and she loves the bottle again - drinks 180mls without a fuss :)

Welcome Isabel - Maya was born 7/11 but I stayed here as well. Just easier imo

skye- hope your routine is still working, I am thinking about trying to get Aimee to have a morning nap at a set time but we always seem to be doing something so she just sleeps when she can poor thing.

Well as I said Aimee keeps pulling off during feeds and crying and Im sure its when my flow slows down, she wont suck again to get the second let down and I think my supply is dropping becuase of it so I have started taking fenungreek. She is still hungry because when I express a bit of milk into her mouth she re attatches, I often have to swap her side to side a few times to get her to keep feeding its driving me batty. She also gets easily distratced when feeding and pulls off to have a look around or a chat

Mel_cur: Thats funny about the slow flow teat. Its funny how they get fussy all of a sudden. We tried DS on the 3 month avent teats but it caused all sorts of problems so we are sticking with the 1 month teats for now. 180 mls is a good amount of formula, DS is drinking around 120ml at the moment, he will take more but then bring it all back up so for now I am limiting him. What formula are you using?

Ok so I have a major vent to get off my chest so I apologise in advance but I need to get it out so here goes.

DS had the worst day today, like he was possesed It was horrible. I had coffee with a few old friends this morning and he got so upset. I had to try and rock him to sleep which was not easy but he finally went for a sleep. He was ok after that for awhile and we went for a bit of a walk around the shops and then he got all upset again. This carried on all day. It was so distressing. He would be fine one moment and then be in histerics. I went to the shops to get him a teether as I thought maybe teeth?? He was somewhat interested in it and spent quite a while sucking on it. In the end I ran out of ideas so I gave him some panadol as I just could not work out what was wrong with him. It didn't really help. He does seem to be a bit snuffly at the moment so maybe he has a cold again. He had one a couple weeks ago, we seem to be passing between us as I have had two colds in the last few weeks. I tried to unclog his nose with those saline drops but he got so worked up I have no idea how many drops I actually got in.

He is in bed at the moment thank goodness. Hopefully he has a good nights sleep.

I am so confused at the moment. We have had a few drama's in the last few weeks as the GP thought he had reflux, he got some medicine, came off it and was fine and now he is getting upset again. But he also had a cold the last time he was so upset so maybe its the cold not reflux. grrr Its so confusing.

Isabel- wow I had an identical day to yours about a week ago. Went out for lunch and Mia all of a sudden started screaming hysterically, I was trying to rock her to sleep, take her for a walk, give her a dummy, bottle. She was fine, then would start screaming again.
It carried on for a couple of hours so I gave her panadol and she fell asleep.
This happened 1 week after her needles so I think it is related to that. Has your DS had needles recently? Sorry, will go and check if you have written that.


Mel- very interesting about the teat. Mia is still on the one month teats, and it still leaks everywhere so I think she is ok. I might buy a faster one and try it though. Loved the video of Maya rolling too!

Sara- I know what you mean about always doing something, I bet it is hard when you have 2 littlies, it is easier for me coz I only have one. The routine is working but I do have to be a bit flexible, like sleep time is 9am every morning but this morning she just couldnt hold out so I put her down at 8.50am, oh well.
Well today DH is home so I might go and and buy some nappies and formula. I got to go for a power walk this morning, alone, which was great!

Aimee is now rolling from her back to her tummy, so cute. She shocked her self the first time, bit of a pain becuase she doen't like being on her tummy so I am constantly flipping her back, she can roll from tummy to back accidentaly but hasn't worked out how to do it at will lol

Jasmine is finally toilet trained, our third attempt and she has mastered it, 10 days and no accidents day or night in the last 3! We are running out of toilet paper and soap as its a novelty and she is in and out the loo so much lol. Saving so much in nappies now woo hoo!

Toilet training seems so far away but I bet we will be discussing it before we know it, scary! I think Lachlan is preparing to roll. He is prob still a way off but he is getting those legs right u and trying ever so hard to get over. I think his poor head is a bit big!! At one stage he was rolling from tummy to back pretty well. Lachlan hates tummy time so I think he sussed that if he can roll he doesn't have to be on his tummy anymore. It was so funny I was trying to get a photo of him craning his neck but everytime I grabbed the camera he would start rolling. In the end I got a whole bunch of pictures with him in different stages of rolling over :rolleyes: He seems to have gone backwards now and he doesn't roll as often anymore. I was getting a bit concerned that the he hated tummy time so much as the mchn at mothers group said that she had seen a child who was 15 months old that had just started crawling coz him mum didn't do tummy time with him. Like its that simple!!! I had a thread here and the lovely bb ladies assured me that tummy time is not the be all end all of there motor developement so im not too worried and we do as much tummy time as we can without over doing it.

Skyeblue: Lachlan hasn't had injections since he was 8 weeks old. That remnds me I have to book his 4 month injections, eek. I think he was just having an off day. He has had a bit of a cold and been a bit grumpy. I think his day sleeps may be part of the problem too but Im not keen on going to any sleep schools about it. I think he is a bit young for control crying and I dont know what they would tell me that I dont already know. The last few days he has been having one sleep during the day of more than an hour so maybe he is getting there on his own. See how he goes over the next few weeks.

Well Im up at 6am. Lachlan is in bed but I decided to stay up as I usually feel terrible if I go back to bed now and have to get up in a couple hours. Its really nice actually. So peaceful and I actually managed to drink a HOT cup of coffee!!! :clap: Funny the things you take for granted before kids!!! We have mothers group this arvo which shoule be good. Lachlan has been pretty good the last few days so it has been nice. Yay a positive post for once. Hope you are all well!!

Sararose: I was just reading your beautiful birth story about Aimee and I noticed that you were from Adelaide and that you were involved with the group practice. Which hospital did you go through if you dont mind me asking?? ( you dont need to answer that if you dont want to). I only ask as I went through the group practice at Flinders hospital and really enjoyed the whole experience.

Isabel I went through flinders too (I also work there as a nurse ;) on a cardiothroacic surgery and cardiology ward). They were great both times if we have a thrid I will try my hardest to get into the group practice. Who was your midwife if you dont mind my asking. I live in Huntfield Heights so if you ever want to catch up or anything pm me.

Small world!! My midwife was sue. we had her partner mandy after Lachlan's birth as she was on holidays. Its a really good system isn't it?? Ill try my hardest to get in again.

i really have to pop in here more often.

sara, i have been taking fenugeek for ages. i am scared that my milk will just stop one day, like it did with dd1 - so taking it as a precaution (just two a day) - but i get that slow feeling too, and when i do i just take a couple extra.

so far laa is still happy to sleep when out - but not in her pram - in her sling. we went out to lunch the other day and she was in it, awake and looking around, then just put her little head down and went to sleep. our friends couldnt believe it :). she goes to sleep very nicely in her cot during day sleeps (i just put her down and she gives me a smile, i walk off and come back in 5 mins and she is out). often she will wake, i will see her wriggling, but then i go back a few mins later and she is back to sleep.

she is starting to do 360's when i lay her down - leave her on her mat and come back 5 mins later and she is upside down! come back and she is back to where she began, very cute.

anyone else intending on following baby lead weaning instead of puree?
