As for us, not much to report. Abby has taken a couple more steps, but no walking across the room yet! I think today or tomorrow maybe! I think she is getting more molars. Her nose is running like a faucet and she as up all night last night <yawn>

I went to the periodontist yesterday and he said he thinks it is a fractured tooth but cannot tell because there is a crown holding it together. he suggested cutting into my gum, and taking a look. If it isnt fractured he will stitch it and not charge me. If it is fractured, he will extract it and I will need a bridge or an implant which will cost $3000 - $5000 (USD). So I was in tears all day yesterday. I have a humongous headache and just dont know what to do!

Good morning Meg! Just had a look at all your pics and I love them! Coco is so gorgeous and Tilly too! You house is beautiful! I love the view off your balcony! Your kitchen is nice! there are a lot of trees there...how nice! We live in a new neighborhood, so there are only baby trees! I miss real old trees and wooded lots. Oh well! Thanks for the pics!

Kate Jasmine is such a cutie! It looks like she loves the gym! I love the pic where her little 'jasmine' smock is galling over her shoulder! Too cute! She is such a looker!

Guess what?? My cousin and his wife had their baby boy this morning! He was tiny at 6 pounds 5 oz and only 18" long! YAYYY!!

My mum took Milo to the doctors yesterday afternoon, as I thought like you Sarajo, that it might be an ear infection, as he had been pulling at them and had watery eyes.

Well, the doc checked him out thoroughly, and nothing. No ear infections, nothing she could find at all except that he is getting so many teeth.

What I really liked though, and she is the only doctor who has EVER said this to use and not flatly denied it, she said to my mum 'Its normal for a baby to get a temperature between 38 and 38.9 (100.4 - 102) when teething' and not bring him back if its 39 or higher.

I have never had a doctor agree that high temp are normal for tething before, they usually say the opposite, so I was really impressed (as you can tell by the 2 paragraphs talking about it!).

sarajo - I have never had an evap line (well not one that looked positive and then faded, only negative results that when left for a while show a lighter coloured line) so I am not much help. Has she tested again?
All the best with your tooth. I am too scared to go to the dentist. I finally found a great dentist that I was not scared to go to , and he went and retired! So now I have a weird lump on my jaw, no toothache thus far, but I relly should get it checked out and I am terrified to go!

Kate - what about a playgroup? Do you have one near you, or do you know other mums who would start one up? Sydneys Child mag would have some ideas, I think theres free stuff in there as well, but I guess its more one-off events than regular activities. What about swimming?

Actually thats a q for everyone? Who takes their chils to swimming classes, or for a swim in general? Milo has thus far only been in a wading pool in the backyard, but as an ex- competetive swimmer I really do want him to at least not fear the water, and am tossing up whether to take him to a class. I have been advised both for an against though, so am wondering what your experiences are?

OK, gotta go, Milo's creche just rang, he has fallen over and biten his lip and they want me to get it checked out at the doctors!

When it was warm here (April-October or so) I would take Abby to the pool and she would even love to go under water! I cant wait to take her to the pool this summer, and I might get swim lessons for her depending on how well she does!

Kate - Wow I have to get Callum into some thing like Gymbaroo he is just so bored all the time. How cute "there you are" she is doing well with her talking. Callum only says * mum, dad, sisa, bub, ta, nan,* etc. I cant wait till he can talk abit more. Will be lovely.
Oh boy dont talk to me about changing time. I HATE IT. He screams and carries on. He is also starting to stand in the bath and now that is becoming a hassle. He just wants to walk everywhere and doesnt undstand that he cant in the bath. I hope things get better when they get older. "How long will it be" LOL

Meg - Welcome back hun. Thanks for happy bday wish for Callum. Hope all is well!!! I know the waiting sux. But im hoping there will be a cancellation. Will check out all the photos soon.

Dani - I love the fact that he has the monkey and not a dummy.* not that im against them* just know it was so hard to get it off Melissa. But come on Callum, To eat with it. I DONT THINK SO....lol... Ive been sitting it near him so he can see it but he still cries abit but im not giving in.

Sarajo - Im so so sorry your feeling so bad. Wow, you poor thing. That is alot of money. I hope it all works out for you. I really do. Bad things always happens to the nice ppl. How is your sister. Sarajo - Callum loves the water. When I take him out the back he heads for the pool. (((( thank god for gates ))))) Im putting Callum back in swimming lessons soon. Let me know how it goes with Abby and I'll do the same.

Yes it is but im starting to HATE HIM...lol...the monkey that is. We went to the shops today and of cause he had to come. So I had Callum sitting in the trolley and Monkey next to him. Looked very funny!!!

Dani, I will be doing Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching for 3 years and then an extra year to get a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), which I believe will mean I would be qualified to work in day care centres as well as primary schools.. I think heh

Rayray, Logan has been going to swimming classes since he was about 5 months old I think. He loves it. We have had a few weeks off because they don't run AquaBabes classes during school holidays, but he has gotten to go swimming in friends pools over the holidays.

I hope Milo's lip is ok and that he feels better soon.

Kate, as well as swimming lessons Logan & I also go to a Young Mums Group every fortnight, not that I really socialise much but Logan has a few "girlfriends" that he likes to kiss and cuddle. I would love to take him to gymbaroo, but I'm not sure if I could spare the extra time or money at the moment. LOL @ the toddlers all walking around bumping in to each other.

Sarajo, Wow what a lot of money to pay for your tooth to get fixed up, but I am sure it would be worth it to get rid of the pain. I hope it all turns out ok.

Missy, I hope you can some how convince Callum that toys and food don't mix. How cute though, I am sorry but it is kind of cute :D Logan takes a spoon everywhere we go. Or he takes his Elmo shopping with us, and a spoon. :rolleyes:

I was just in Gosford on my way home and some guy & camera crew from channel 9 in Sydney were asking me about the water restrictions and stuff, I practically passed out I was so nervous and I think I sounded like an idiot. Logan was asleep in the pram so they got a shot of him (since I mentioned I reuse the water from his bath to water the plants).. I so hope I am not on the news or A Current Affair or something LOL oh dear

Melinda...lol@u and the 9 net work...That would have scared me abit too....heheheh:) So you live up the central coast. My mum and dad are at Umina. Dad owns a tyre factory at Woy Woy, on Blackwall road I think it is.

Well we had the same trouble again today as yesterday. Callum wouldnt eat without monkey. I didnt give it to him so he didnt eat his lunch. He started to eat left over spag but then didnt want it. Then I tried him with frankfert and he had about 4 bites. But of cause he ate all his custard. I Just scared he isnt eating enough. Does that sound enough for him to of had. He is off fruit again so have had to go back to puree fruit. Hmmmm. Funny as he loves his breakfast and dinner. Just not lunch.

Oh well we will just have to see how this bloody monkey business goes....*deep breath*.

Milo's lip was OK - DH went to get him from creche and took him to the GP, who said it really was not very deep at all, just a lot of blood at the time. He had her check his ears again and still no indication that theres anything wonrg that would be affecting his balance, so must just be new (or fast) walking clumsiness. :)

He is also being really fussy with his lunch and dinner lately. I think its at least in part due to his teething, cos he will try to eat the food but when he has to chew it he cries and throws it away - but still tried the next piece/spoonful etc. And he is drinking a lot of water, like 1-2 cups a day (plus about the same of milk)

He has just started having apple and balck currant juice - baby strength - in the past fortnight, up til then he had been spitting it out.

Our high chair has a round drink compartment, and Milo likes having toys at meal time, so somtimes he has a small duck or dolphin toy (the rubber kind that you have in the bath) and it fits in there, so we play "duck in the pond" and he puts the duck in there. Its so cute and ATM if it gets him to eat his dinner I am happy. He still eats fine at creche.

Rayray glad all is ok with Milo. Its most likely his teeth the poor little thing. I know how you feel with food time. I hate lunch time. breccy and dinner ok but not lunch....

Hope everyone has had a good day. I worked at mums cafe today. Was nice, kind of like a break, having no kids around.
I have to ask, is anyone having any trouble with fussy eating? coco is getting a tooth (number 7) but for the last week or so she is getting fussier to the point where she hardly eats and I have to fill herup on blueberries and a bit of soy yoghurt. She's gone off brocolli, all the jars she used to eat, chicken risolles etc you name it. I don't know what to do, she can't eat egg either.
I think I might post about it somewhere else for some extra advice. I have SO missed the BB advice!!!

I know what you are going through. Callum is going through a no lunch stange at the moment and seems to be living custard. He loves it and im running out on what to give him. He is still into breccy and dinner but thats about it.

Missy I've been doing the custard too. tonight she spat her vegie sticks everywhere, at some of the crumbed chicken I made, managed to eat the mushed vegies I shovled in, and then ate soy yoghurt then blueberries. At least she ate, but this is all over a 1 and a half hour period...not the most fun!
Guess it's an age thing, i know that after the first year they do slow down on what they eat.I jsut like to know she's full for bedtime!
So annoyed, I have made a curry for dinner, but have run out of rice.....I don't mind so much but don't think tim's going to be overly impressed!!
Mel, missed the news, were you on? My dad had also left a message telling me to watch the news as an old neighbour of ours had fallen off a cliff (used to live on cliff at beach). I don't remember her, but how awful.

I feel the same. I keep thinking Callum isnt eating enough. He had cheese on toast grills and ate most of it but spat some out too. Then cause he is off fruit (lumps) had to give him puree fruit (apples) and he didnt eat it all and only had 1/2 his custard. Hmmm Could he just not be that hungry???? Its just hard going from eating good to not eating much. As long as he is putting on the weight I guess its ok. I just dont want him to lose weight. Ill be going to the clinic this month so i'll see how he is going.

Sorry Meg, I am here. Am in a bit of a quandry. I want to go back to work, preferably part-time. I think I need the adult interaction and I think Maddy would love to spend a couple of days with kids. She loves them.

I asked my old workmate to let me know if he heard of a basic job coming up (I don't want to go back to the full-on roll I was in - too much stress) and he sent me an email back and said to call him. I did and he told me he's just been promoted to effectively a regional manager role and he would be interviewing me if I want to come back. They have a job coming up that I think I would pretty much get unopposed, but out of a hard work & stress scale of 1-4 (one being the easiest non-stress role vs 4 being high level stress), it would be about a 2. It's just a bit more challenging than the simple role I wanted to go back. The upside would be that I could ask for how much + maybe a little more I was getting before, whereas the basic processing role would probably be for a lower pay.

So basically, an interview would basically be a formality and I could come back. The problem is that it's fulltime. Now I'm really torn. Financially we're finding it quite hard at the moment and we could definitely do with the money, even having to pay out childcare. My sister would be prepared to have Maddy a few days a week (2-3) days and I could put her in childcare for the remaining.

I'm just not sure what to do. I love my girl but I'm craving getting back to work as I'm going a little stircrazy at the moment. I could wait and search for a part-time role elsewhere but goodness knows how long that would take and whether I could get the job, days, location, hours I'm looking for. These guys are my old work and they know me, respect me & my work and know that my family is a big time focus in my life. They would definitely be less opposed or resentful of me taking the ocassional day off if Maddy is sick whatever, in comparison to other work places.

Wow you girls sure have been chatty since last night.
What is with these babies and illness? I have had Jett at the doctors today and he has another middle ear infection that is 3 in 4 months. The doctor said if he gets another one he is going to refer us to an EN&T specialist. I think this may be a little drastic but? What do you think?
Well I walked Jett to the doctor’s today as yesterday when I was about to leave my Dads place my car wouldn’t start, turns out the alternator (whatever that is??) is dead and I need to get a new one. I don’t mind, as I now have to walk around if I want to get somewhere, which is good. Hopefully my Dad will have it fixed by the time I start my new job on Saturday.
Jett is so funny when it comes to eating. He will normally have 2 bits of vegemite on toast for breaky (almost one piece ends up on the tiles). Then normally no morning snack as he is sleeping. For lunch he will have yoghurt and maybe a meat sandwich, little boys, fish fingers normally something easy. He will have 6 different veggies for dinner and normally meat.
Melly – That sounds so great. Do you do it on campus? I would love to do it, but I think it is something I will look into later down the track.
I was on Today Tonight a few times and it is major embarrassing when people recognise you on the street and say wern't you that girl on TV.:redface:

Missy – I love the new ticker!! That monkey is just so cute. It does start to take it’s tool but my only advice is see if you can buy another ‘backup’ monkey. I can’t find a ‘Mr Blue’ anywhere. He had a swim today and wasn’t dry before bedtime so he took a spin in the tumble dryer.

My week consist of the 3W's; walking, wiggles and washing. :lol: Every second Friday now our Mother’s group is meeting but normally we catch up in between then.

Beck that is a tough one! Are you sure they wont have something for you that is a couple days a week? You could always try it and in a month or 2 if you dont like it then quit?

Meg sometimes Abby will eat like a cow and other times she wont touch anything. She didnt want to eat dinner last night and I kinda forced her to by offering it over and over untill she gave up, and I got payback by her vomitting all over my living room carpet! lol! So she really really wasnt hungry...I felt so bad! She does lose her appetite when she is teething also! I wouldnt worry about it...as long as you offer at least 3 meals and 2 snacks or so a day, she's bound to eat when shes hungry! I give Abby pediasure every night to bulk her up a big since she is so tiny per the doctors recomendations. She loves it and it is filled with calleries and vitamins!

I'm glad Callum had a nice birthday! dont worry abou tmonkey...he'll get used to eating without him after awhile, as long as you stick to your guns and make sure you dont give in and give him his monkey while its time to eat! lol! He is such a cutie! Its great that he has a lovie!!

Beck, I hear ya girl. I SO Needed to get some adult interaction happening in my life! Are you not moving to Syd anymore? I would say go for it anyway, and give it a go. You DONT have to stay if you don't like it, but at least if you try it you can't ask yourself "what if". Maddy will be happy, it's ALWAYS the parents who suffer the most as far as separation anxiety.
I think sometimes it makes for a better mother when they aren't with bub all the time. Of course that is not always the way, but I know for me I function better after I've had child free time.
Many of my; mothers group have gone back full time. One of them is so excited because her baby LOVES childcare and my friend is interacting with adults and can go to the loo when she chooses!!
Dani, I hope Jett is better soon. Poor thing. It is totally normal for them to be sick so often when around other kids. Tilly had about 6 ear infections in her first year of kindy (she hadn't been around many kids before that) and many tummy bugs etc, so I'd think it's kind of normal. Mind you, middle ear might mean something is out of whack and needs looking at, is he doing lots of swimming? Maybe that could be effecting it. Sorry Im prob way off.

True Meg, what is it with teeth anyway?! No it is not Eddies mum, it is my other sister..this will be her first! She is 37 so she was worried that she would have problems conceiving! She is so excited! I am too...we are all very close!

Thanks girls. I'm leaning towards going for it - although the logistics of finding available child care and working out how to get her there and picked up around my hours will be interesting. I just think that things happen for a reason, and it was ironic that when I happened to mention to my friend I was thinking about coming back he jumped at it and said there was a job coming up. Above all, they were so understanding when I was so ill with Maddy. I mean, not everyone would be as patient with a woman who comes to work, throws up for two hours and then goes home. I never once got threatened or told I had to make a decision about my future there even though for a good 10 weeks there I was only at work for probably 6 weeks of it! *L*

Sarajo - OUCH on the money to fix your tooth. When are you booked in to have it looked at? Congrats to your sister, wow it seems like everyone is pregnant around me at the moment. Two of my closest friends are due in September and I'm so excited to be an Aunty again! I still LOVE that photo of Abby in your siggy, she looks like such a cherub there!

Missy - YAYYYY on Mel's first day back at school! Sorry to hear you're still having food probs with Callum and that he still won't eat properly without Monkey. Isn't it amazing how children get attached to a certain toy. My brother was the same with his 'blankie'. Wouldn't go anywhere without it.

Ray - OMG, poor little man! Is he feeling better? That's a relief that there's no underlying problem with his balance. Maybe we should get together and design some crash helmets and stuff for babies of this age? The amount of times Maddy's gotten eggs on her head from stacks is unbelievable. I cannot believe how many teeth your little man is getting at once! I hear you on the food frustrations. :wall: Oh and great idea about the duck in the pond. Maddy has these super cool bath toys in sea creature shapes so I might get the octopus or something and do the same thing.

Dani - Poor little Jett with the ear infections....that sounds horrible. I had grommets put in my ears at 18 months (and adnoids taken out) but not because of ear infections, because I didn't breathe correctly. Good luck at work for your new job! :) I used to work for a big insurance company up here in Brisbane. I was an underwriter (for personal & business insurance) and sales service officer, so I had a panel of brokers throughout Queensland who I had to basically keep happy. Of course it had it's upsides, I got to go to things like the World Cup in 2003, football matches, Aus Vs NZ cricket test matches. Was way cool! hehe I don't think you're a selfish Mum at all....I feel the same way. I wish I could be one of those Mum's that loves to sit and play with my child, but Maddy doesn't really like me 'interfering' with her games and honestly, I think she gets a bit sick of being around me all of the time. Now if only I could get DH to tell me HONESTLY what he thinks of me going back FT it would be good! :wall:

Tiff - CONGRATS on a superb first day back at work. I read your post in another thread and can't believe you were right in there and delivering babies! hehe You must be so relieved to hear that everyone has welcomed you back so warmly - I know you were a little nervous about all of that. Glad to hear you got loads of cuddles & kisses when you got home fromt work too!

Missy - hope you get an earlier appointment with Callum. I have a pronoucned heart mumur, which has been investigated a number of times, but have never had any problem with it (all the females in my famil yhave - sis, mum, gmother, aunt). Hopefully it will just be innocent. Goodluck for Melissa's first day back - what grade is she in?? And your present to her sounds incredible! I wish my mum did something like that for me...

Meg - welcome back! I love coco's photo - she looks so gorgeous - like a real little lady. Gosh i want a little girl. I checked out your photos - your new place looks great! How is Tilly going? What grade is she in??

Bec - i'm back at work 2-3 days per week. I'm lucky i have family minding him, cos otherwise i don't think i would do it (financially and emotionally), but i have problems trying to get him into appropriate child care. I am really enjoying PT work, just to get a break from him and adult interaction and using my mind really helps me. I find i have a lot more patience for him when i am with him also, so i think it makes me a better mum. He enjoys spending time with his grandparents, and he gets to play with something new and do things other than housework with me. Its hard b/c you do miss out on things, but unfortunatly you can't have it 2 ways with $$ and being there all the time. Even if you worked from you they could be in the other room and you might still miss it IYKWIM? I think you should try it on a trial basis (like 6 weeks) and if you don't like it or it isn't working than you can stop.

Mel - So, were you on the news? How exciting! I would have just stammered and sounded like an idiot, so good thing news crews know to stay away from me :) I love Logans pic - he looks SO happy! Just gorgeous! When do you start uni again - March?? Good luck.

Dani - I can't believe Jett-boy (i love that nickname!) through a corncob at you! I would be PMSL too, but how funny...soz! You can remind him about that at his 21st. Tiff - great to hear that your shift went so well! I'm so happy for you, it must be such a relief! How are the twins doing with the allergies? Did you just get a referral from the GP. I;m worried DA might have a milk allergy, but the GP said to keep an eye on it for a few week and then get him tested.

Renee - How is work going? What are the kids in your class like? Is it hard with the pregnancy and working?

Kate - Congats on your bro getting engaged! How exciting! When is the wedding? It sounds so cute about Jasmines tallking! DA also does the "what's that" or "whos that" but thats about it.. Althoguh whenever he gets on anything ride on her does the "brrmmmm" noise! I hear you on the temper thing! Da has just started doing it - arching his back whenever he doesn't want to go somewhere (car seat, stroller, highchair). He hasn't started kicking me yet - thank g-d! I don't know what to do, do i ignore it or can you start to teach them nice manners at this age?

How is gymbaroo?? It looks great, i would love to take DA but i hear its very expensive (somebody from my MC who is very well off wanted us all to do 'can do kids' with her - but its $14 a session). Do you think kids are disadvantage by not going to these things? I feel bad i can't afford creche (and don't really want him there anyway unless its b/c i'm working), my mc isn't on so often, and i don't like it so much cos he seems to be the most active one there and its hard for me to stop him touching everyone else, and we don't make it to the park so often (i did go yesterday for the first time in ages). I think i'm a bad mummy and my kid will end up bored cos all he ever does is play in the living room or something. I need to be better about taking him for walk and stimulating him every day - but its hard working PT and trying to keep the house in order. Sometimes i feel like such a failure!

Rach - How is Milo's lip?? How scary... How did it happen? I hope the teething gets better soon... its horrible when there is nothing you can do to make it better. I've also never had anyone tell me that a temp is normal for teething. He doesn't get it everytime he does, but maybe 1/2 the time. I hope he is feeling better very soon, and think about all the new stuff he can eat with all his new teeth! :)

Well, not much news here. DA has discovered he is a boy - finally! Gets quite a lot of giggles at nappy change time.

Oh, and yesterday when we were outside gardening he suddenly started standing up on his own! I was screaming and clapping and he sat bak down, but later did it like 4 times. And then i called my parents to tell them, and dad goes "oh, he did that last week and we forgot to tell you", so i misseyd his first time, and i didn't even know... But at least he is doing it, so hopefully he will be walking soon!

My other news is that i'm thinking of doing a certificate in massage and running my own massage business. My best friend is a physio and runs hger own massgae biz at nights, but doesn't really want it at the moment, cos she works FT and its too much. So if i train (6 months full time) than i can have her news clients and we will do it together.

I'm worried that:
1) massage isn't for me, although i think it is interesting, and most of it its a way to run my own biz which i'm really intested in
2) it might damage my friendship if the partnership doesn't work out - although i want to build up my own clients (mainly religious women in my community as i can't masage men) so i have something to rely on if we do stop it.

Thats mainly it. I'm going for a meeting with the massage school i want to go to - its right around the cnr from me, and they are good about me only doing females in prac class. Only probs is they have classes on a sat, so i have to apply for prior learning from my uni degree - which i'm praying i'll get! Its starts in 2 weeks, so i'm nervous about it, and might not be able to work so much for the last 2 week si said i would, but i ahev to stop anyway in march as DH is back at uni and we will lose our centrelink if i do work. So its the best possible time for me to try and learn a new skill.

I really want to do their short course in pregnancy massage, so maybe i can try and get some work through BB!

I tested yesterday and it was BFN, but it was only 8DPO and not first thing in the morning anyway. AF is due Sunday, so migh test then when i have a better chance. Trying not to get to despondant about the neg!

Anyway, gtg, need to go to work so we can have $$ :)

Yael - are you allowed to practice on any women or will you only be working within your community? I've volunteer if you need one, I know someone who did a similar training program and I think you have to get a certain number of practical hours etc..

It sounds like a great opportunity. Yes there is always a risk when you go into business with friends, but I guess you have to weigh that up against the potential benefits that it could have. If you don't give it a try, you'll never know.

Becka - I found it really quite difficult going back to FT work, and I had to go when Milo was just 5 months old, as I'm the main income earner in our family. My mum went part time and she has Milo 2 days per week, and he goes to crech for the other 3. I think he really does like it, he heads straight over to the teachers and kids and just ignores us when we take him, and some night he doesn't want to come home! However childcare is a lot more available in my area, I have heard horror stories about trying to get it in Sydney.

Milo's lip is fine now, just a little fat. He fell over at creche ( I have a feeling they left his socks on while he was walking around - they usually take them off) and hit a table on the way down.

I am not sure if gymbaroo is a set price of if each franchise charges what they like? The one nearest me is $140 a term. Milo doesn't go - DH's company are a supplier for the original person who started it (I think, someone high up).

Rach - i can do any women - so i'll let you know when i need volunteers!

Melissa and starting year 8 this year and is so excited to be going back and seeing her friends. We were up at 6.30 making breakfast and doing her hair. She is taller then me now, not that thats hard as im only 5ft 1or 2 give or take.

Yael - if the friendship is stronge id go for it. It would be good for you!!!! Im sure his murmur will be fine. Im waiting to see if I can get in early.

Bec - Callum had breakfast today without Monkey. YAY...lol... Although he was watching him very close.

Tiff - how is your work going. Or should I say how are you going...lol...Im sure your doing great!!!
