Kate was home :smt022 .... I thought my car had a flat battery and had to wait for NRMA then when they finally showed up.... turns out the whole electrical system is shot and now my car is at the auto electricians... they had to tow it there! I asked the guy for a quote on how much it might cost me to get fixed..... he said Im probably looking at anywhere from $800-$1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt022 :fuming: :smt022 The doors wont lock, the car wont start, no lights even come on the dash, its just dead.
I cant believe I couldnt go today. Im so sad. Jasmine looked soooo cute and she is having such a 'good' day, unlike me. Its so just my luck lately. So hopefully there will be another one.
Im going to go feel sorry for myself some more. Now Im stuck without a car for the rest of the week too
-
Kate what a BUMMER... I can't believe it happened today, or that it happened at all. just what you don't want or need, a big huge bill. We really missed you guys, I was so looking forward to meeting you both. Never mind, there will definitely be another time. I am not doing much in my life except settling and feeding, so I can come and see you some time!
Well, it was really nice to meet Christie and Mel, and of course Owen and Logan!! They are both sooo cute. And of course Coco made me look like a big liar by sleeping the whole time!!!! Well, she only slept once I put her in the hug a bub, but she stayed asleep for about 1.5 hours and was still asleep when we left!! (she woke up soon after).
I have put one photo up and will try to get the others up now, it's just taking soooo long as apparently I've used up all the space on the computer this month downloading all my photos!!!
Ok, better run. I have Coco asleep and she'll prob wake up in the next 5 minutes (another cat nap)!!
Hope everyone's well (poo, she's awake), that was a 10 min sleep.
gotta run, xoxo

Personals tomorrow morning but just wanted to say I uploaded those photos from the weekend (and what I've taken in February so far...) and created a new webpage. I have updated the website link to this photo page.
The 'Madeline in February 2006' are the newest photos, including our family shots from Saturday. :)

Hi girls! I absolutely LOVE the new pics! Beck, Maddy has a great smile! She is so cute! I love the pics of the belly buddies meeting, Meg! I also love the new tickers Kate and Beck! How cute! I put a couple new pics on Abbys site. I just took more yesterday, so I will get those on soon!
Abby has been keeping a good deal of food down at the last feeding of the night and the first feeding of the morn. Other than that, it is about the same...my little spitty girl! Oh well! She seems to be getting bigger! Dons parents are comming this Thursday and we are so excited! THey have not met Abby yet! I am trying to get the house clean, but Abby just wont sleep durring the day very good at all! I may have to pull an all nighter so I can clean while she sleeps at night! lol!
Well, shes a yellin again! I better go check on her! \:D/
-
Sarajo - that sunglasses shot of Abby is PRICELESS!!!! *LOL* And I agree with you about Meg's photos from their Dec girls mmet-up.... Love Christie's new hairdo! All of you ladies look lovely and your bubbies are gorgeous!!
-
Oh what cute photos you guys!
Hope you are all having a great Valentines Day!
Meg I hope Tressillian went well, cant wait to hear all about it and Happy Anniversary!
Beck love the new photos of Maddy. Her eyes are to die for! The photo with her tongue out is hilarious. Thats a 21st photo for sure!!
Sarajo love the sunglasses pic too. Abby is just beautiful. Good Luck with the inlaws, I bet they will be totally smitten
And all the girls who went to the meet yesterday ... what a bunch of stunners. Im glad I didnt go and ugly up the picture! Still I would have loved to see you all and your babies!!
Well we had a horrible night. I dont know if Jasmine is too young, but I swear she is playing me! She is starting to scream whenever she realises Im not in the room, and omg when I put her down for bed, she just cries and cries until I pick her up and is instantly ok. Im not sure what to do about it actually. Im getting all kinds of advice but I dont know what to do. I cant decide if I want to be a controlled crying parent or a gentle parent? Do any of your babies do this? What do you do or plan to do?
-
Thank you Kate - sorry about the bad night! I dont know what I will do if Abby starts screaming if I leave the room. Right now she sleeps in my room in her bassinette beside my bed, so we havent come across that yet. I think I will try to sneak out and then let her cry for 5 min and go back in, then the next time try 6 min abd so on...but of course I wont know until Im in that situation!
Beck - I agree, that pic of MAddy with her tongue out is too funny! I love it!
I got the pics I took today and yesterday on the site now on her photo gallery! I love how she is starting to fit into some of her 0-3 month outfits now! Woohoo! She's growing! Finally! ;)
-
Kate - I was wondering exactly that yesterday....Maddy was so unsettled yesterday and SO clingy. Whenever I put her down she screamed hysterically and I was so drained by the end of the day. We figured it was another growth spurt and she was just uncomfortable. She is alot better today but whenever she is upset there is no build up anymore...she just dives into hysterical/full-bawl screaming.
On a side-note, could you please keep my sister-in-law in your thoughts?
She's's been admitted into hospital, the baby's heartbeat is dropping dramatically. Our FIL is with her, the OBs are monitoring her and they're discussing sending her to Toowoomba as Gundi doesn't have a neo-natal ward for the baby if he/she is unwell which is the main worry right now.
Bubs is due on Thursday, she's already had all that stress with the C/S talk last week when the baby luckily turned from being breech and now this...
-
Update on SIL - OBs have decided to do an emergency C-section now. She will be Mummy for the 2nd time in the next 45mins. I guess if baby is unwell they will then transfer her down to Toowoomba which is a 4hr drive.
Edited at 2:30pm Brisbane time - Baby has been delivered, apparently it's a girl (I was right!) and the reason the baby's heartrate kept dropping with each contraction is that the cord was wrapped around baby's neck twice. Confirmation of gender, name & details I'm still waiting for.... :)
-
Ok, Portia Elsie was born at 2:09pm Brisbane time weighing 2850grams, 48cms long and the cord was actually wrapped around her neck three times. Theory is it has something to do with her being breech and then turning last week.

Hi guys, we have a VERY VERY slow computer here, so am unable to see the new pics yet. just popping in very briefly. Tresillian was good, learnt more of what I know but was nice to have reassurance. It's mainly CC which I actually like. I did it with Tilly, and she has turned out just fine (I think)!!! I already have Coco going down well she just cries for 5 mins max. However when we got there today she went down with no crying and no dummy!! Just the resettling is the prob, so what I will do is let her cry and go in and calm her every minute or so. We are told NOT to go longer than half an hour, so Jillian, that 7 hours is a SHOCKER, the tresillian ladys today don't like the baby to ccry for long. So it's really reassuring to know Im doing the right thing. Im really happy that I can get Coco to sleep without rocking etc, as it was taking it's toll. Just hope I can get the resettling under control soon.
Each to thier own, but CC is what's worked for me before and seems to be working ok now. Of course, Coco also gets lots of cuddles and Im in and out all the time. I tell you this, after 8 months of absolute hell when Tilly was born, i will do ANYTHING not to do that again.
Congrats Beck on becoming an aunty, glad all was good in the end. Cute name!!
lwill catch up with youguys tomorrow. xoxo
-
guys I LOVE the photos!!! I have just added a couple to mine that Tilly and I just took!! Aren't the little bubs growing so fast ,(and they're sooo gorgeous!!!) xo
-
Morning ladies! :) Hope your evening was ok!
I can't believe a certain little miss was asleep by 9:30pm and then slept until 3am! :) YAYYYYYYY.....that's the longest stretch yet. She then fed until 3:45 and went back to sleep. Maddy grumbled for about 1/2hr hour at 4am but I ignored her and then she woke me up for a good feed at 5:30am.
Meg, so good to hear that Tressilian helped you with Tilly and now it's reassuring you with Coco. I wish I could do the CC thing but it cuts into me when I hear her cry even for a minute....I'm going to be so easy to manipulate i think! *L* DH loves her to death but I know that he could handle the CC thing...he tries it with her and I'm the one that caves.
Maddy has realised Mummy was actually getting stuff done so now she's crying....time for another feed I think.
-
Well done Beck!! I don't think i could've done CC this time if Coco cried for more than 5 mins!! She's made it easy for us.
Beck, must have been a good night for the girls!! Coco went to sleep at 7.45pm and did not wake until ............................ 2.45am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7 HOURS. I can't believe it. It wasnt' tresillian, as we didnt' do anything yesterday, but I gave her a top up of Breast milk after her 7pm feed and she took 100mls. The poor bub has been starving at night. She must get most of her food in the mornings. I just so hope this continues. Im going to express every day and give it to her at night. She then went BACK down into her cot until 5.30 when she had a nother feed (beck, we could've been on teh phone!!) and then didn't really settle again, but DH had her, so I don't mind. Got her back to bed at 8.30am and she's still in there, but has been on and off. We're trying to let her resettle herself, bloody DH has just gone in, better go and see what he's doing!!!
Hope everyones going well, i've got one shocker of a sore throat. Really hope it doesn't spread..
xoxo

WTG with the nights sleep guys!
Jasmine went to sleep at 2am  woke up at 7am for a feed hardly took any of it and was still asleep at 11am this morning. So the struggle is getting her to actually go down. Last night all I could do was laugh. She was sooo tired she couldnt even cry properly and was just making these weird noises instead. Scary thing is, it seems as if she has my pattern. Im such a night person and havent gone to bed before midnight since I was a child.... I hope I havent created a monster here.
Beck Congratulations on becoming an Aunty. Sounds like it got a bit hectic, Im so glad it worked out ok in the end. I hope they are all doing well today.
Jillian thankyou for your advice and for sharing your experience! My best friends mother told me almost an exact same story that happened to her and a few other people she knows. To be honest, its just me here, she isnt bothering anyone else, and like my mum says they are only babies for such a short amount of time so Im unsure about the CC because Im such a wimp. I really just dont want to have a clingy needy child and do damage that way by always running to her IYKWIM? Im sure there is a balanced medium, I just have to find it. I feel completely clueless, I dont want to make a mistake but I dont know what Im doing. I just bought Pinky McKays book and CD,and I also bought 101 tips for getting baby to sleep, I will read them and try them til the end of this week but if nothing works I think I might just go to Tresillian for the day course like Meg and see if I can learn some things and maybe make my own style that suits both of us. When she sleeps, she sleeps fine, its just getting her to sleep that I think Im not doing right and need to learn.
Meg well done on having Coco down and having her cry for only 5 minutes. Sounds like Coco is the opposite of Jasmine lol I dont ever need to resettle her because once she is asleep, she is gone lol. Were there many people there? Do they have time to spend one on one with you and your baby? Sorry I have a million questions because I dont know how it actually works when you go in for the day. I cant imagine getting Jasmine to sleep without rocking or putting her on my chest, I would sooooo love not to do that anymore. I think I was really in a bit of shock yesterday when I realised that she was ok as long as I was in the room and got scared that Im doing something wrong. Im definitely not going to let Jasmine sleep in the rocker at night time anymore, she is getting too big for it and ends up all squashed up, so I have made a mistake there by not trying to put her in the cradle anymore! I tried to ring Tresillian yesterday and I was on hold for 35 mins  so I gave up lol. I have to do something now or else I will regret it, I know I will.
Christie, Rach, Sarajo, Tiggy & Melly hope you are all well and your babies are too!
-
:-k Well this is interesting!
I just managed to get through to Tresillian. I thought I would just ask them about their day clinic and what days etc etc but I ended up telling the lady on the phone what Jasmine is doing and she said to me that she thinks the best thing for my situation would be to have one of them come out to my home. That way she could show me how to settle Jasmine in her own cradle and all that stuff in her own environment. Im SOOOO impressed. I did not think they did anything like that at all. She said we need to get Jasmine back in the cradle asap which I knew we would so god help me tonight lol and not to worry about changing anything else until the person comes out to my house, because she would need to see what I do to get her to sleep, and then teach me the right things to do! Im excited now. Well kind of, she said I should try swaddling Jasmine again at night time..... but Jasmine hates that so much like she really hates it and will not settle at all until it comes off, she gets more distressed when she is wrapped than anything else, she scares me a bit when she is struggling so hard to get out of it. So I hope they dont make me do it, cos I wont... well I dont think I will anyway.
Anyway now Im waiting for the midwife in my area to call me and make an appointment. I cant believe they come to your house and I dont have to go to a clinic or something like that. I love it YAYYYYYYYY :cheer: :confetti: :cheer:
-
Gemini - have you found that Jasmine is a bit of a houdini with the wrap? Maddy freaked me out on Monday night....I woke up at 2am to find her stirring but discovered she had managed to get one of the muslin wraps unrolled and wrapped around her head. Thank god she could still breathe but she FREAKED me out doing it!
That's great to hear that the lady from Tresillian is going to come out to your house and help teach you some settling skills in her own environment.
-
Thanks Jillian, Its the Peace Baby one so Im looking forward to reading it, the CD should help too. I just read the 101 tips lol.... I did not know I was supposed to put Jasmine down 'awake' I always put her to sleep first, silly me, will try it tonight, not to mention all the other things I didnt know. ](*,) Mind you I will never do the white noise thing... I saw that scary movie White Noise with Michael Keaton and now Im terrified of it LOL
Im about to start Pinkys book. Ive heard nothing but good things about her so Im excited and hope so much I can learn more. Thankyou. :flower:
Im prepared for a few long nights. Hopefully by next week I should have everything under control.
Beck omg Jasmine can get out of any wrap I put her in. I found the muslin worst, I dont know how she gets out of them but I have seen them around her head too and I totally freak out. I put a mosquito net over the rocker at night just in case and the other morning I found that she had grabbed it, pulled it down and it was just laying there on top of her. I almost had a heart attack. Im glad it was only the tiny light one and not the huge cot one! I dont know how she reached it... she must have had to almost sit up LOL Scary little buggers arent they!
-
Kate, it's so well worth having them come out to you. you dont' have to do anything you dont want, but just having someone come to observe and give ideas can make a huge change. I rang tresillian about 6 weeks ago and the first thing they said was to wrap her. I had stopped doing that, however we've been wrapping her ever since and the great thing about it is 1. she doesn't wake herself with her hands, 2. she knows it's a sign of bedtime. Also the tresillian midwife yesterday said next time Im there (in 3 weeks, if I need it) she's going to show me how to wrap with her hands across her chest so she can suck her fists, so you can always mention that and that way Jasmine has freedom and can settle herself by sucking her hands.
ALso when you go to daystay, they have one midwife per person, so you get full attention. the midwife even sat with Coco to make sure she was happy and hardly had to cry!
I too was rocking to sleep every night for an hour. then I decided to leave her and the crying period is getting shorter. We would go in every 30 seconds and settle her, so it was never high pitched crying, it was quite relaxed. The great thing is that it takes FAR less time to get her to sleep that way than rocking. I also found as time went on, Coco wouldn't settle as well being rocked.
It's all a learning experience though, and none of us really know what to do!! If we could meet in the middle it would be GREAT!! Coco just will not stay asleep in the day after 30 minutes!! Nightmare. We have been working on that today, and after she wakes she's been left in there and gone in and out of sleep, but not a good sleep, so it might take a week or so.
Gotta run, good luck with your books and cd's Kate. I always put Coco down awake now, which I wasn't doing at all before, it really has made a difference for us.
talk soon and sorry if I've rambled xoxo
-
Meg, I hope your throat is feeling better. I SO hope it isn't because of me
Turns out I have a viral infection that is apparently "going around". The doctor said Logan is immune to it or something and he'd only catch a mild cold, he seems fine though. He did get a bit confused when I could barely speak, since he used to be able to recognise my voice and then it changed, he kept frowning at me LOL. Mum & DF are both getting sick. Mum stayed home with me today to help me look after Logan. DF went to work and is now being a royal PITA. I got him cold & flu capsules but he won't take them because he's afraid of swallowing pills incase he chokes. But he also won't stop going on about how sick he is and how he had to work all day.
Logan on the other hand has been very good lately. A bit clingy the last couple of days but not too bad. He was an angel on Monday, didn't cry on the train trip which is what I was a little worried about.
I need to go try to get some sleep. Sorry I didn't really do personals, I haven't caught up on all the posts..

:happybday: Happy Birthday Melly :happybday:

Aw thank you Kate! Wow that was a shock lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR MELLY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! \:D/
How is everyone today? Im great! Yesterday was aweful, as Abby was not only spitting up but also vomiting! She fussed all day and I could telll she didnt feel good! She seems all better now though, I hope it wasnt something I ate, but it seems that way since it only lasted one day!
Do you all celebrate Valentines Day over there? I got Abby an adorable Valentines outfit! I took pics ysterday and just put one on her website. I know she doesnt look like she is feeling bad in it! I did get some smiles out of her! I know I know, I take sooo many pictures of her! I cant help it! :smt016
Meg - feel better soon! So glad the Tresillian worked so well for you!
Melly - feel better soon too! Thats too funny about DF! Oh well, what can you do? Does he usually just take childrens meds so he can have liquid??
Beck and Kate - Abby is an escape artist also, and manages to get out of any wrap I put her in! So far none have ended up on her face, but now that I read you girls' posts, I will be waking up every 5 min to check on her! Let me know if you find a solution!
I probably wont be writing until the middle of next week after tomorrow since Dons parents will be here! I am so excited for them to meet Abby!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELLY!!!! :) :cheer: :confetti: :cheer: :confetti: :flower: :happybday: :D
Hope you have a terrific day babe! :)
A better night for us again! :) Maddy slept from 8pm til midnight and then from 12:30-4:30am. So two x 4hr brackets....nice!
Yay for Dale Begg-Smith...our latest Winter Olympic Gold Medalist! :)
Sarajo - have a fantastic time with your parents-in-law and I'm sure they will just adore your precious little girl! :) Sorry to hear she was spewy yesterday but its great to hear she is feeling better now.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO cute Sarajo! You are so good with all your occassions!! Yes, we celebrate Valentine's here (some do anyway)!! It was also our anniversary, so DH took yesterday off work and we went out to lunch. I had a glass of wine and could've gone to sleep on the spot! We had Yum Cha for lunch, our FAVOURITE!!!
Had a good night, but not as good as the one before! She woke at 11.30 but I stuck the dummy in and she slept until 1am. THen I fed and she went back in her cot until 5.30am. YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had her with me after that. I feel so much better today. My throat is alot better, mum has me on some herbal tablets she swears by!!
So mel, I really don't think it was you, don't worry, and I SO hope you're feeling better soon you poor thing. Poor Mel was a bit worse for wear on monday, and you're doing a great job looking after Logan whilst sick. Mum's never get the full acknowledgement of what we do!! Try getting DF to mind the baby as WELL as being sick! Men couldn't do it!
-

Hey Rach, how's everything going with Hannah? Hope all's well with you. Is it a check up at the health centre today?
I have just found with both my babies that CC has worked. By no means do I leave them crying, and it's been a very relaxed transition even DH has no problems with it. I wouldn't do it if I had to let her cry for ages.
ALso, if I was happy rocking Coco I would've continued, but it meant I was missing alot of time With tilly and she was starting to play up for DH at bedtime.
hope everyone has a good day, Im off to mothers group.
xoox
-
P.S - Forgot to tell you all the best bit....Maddy laughed TWICE this morning! It was sooo cute!
-
Yea Meg, just a check up, Hannah's 8 week check. Yea i am doing really well.
I have no problems with Hannah not going to sleep, but I have found thru this whole baby thing, you have to do what works for you. I am so glad that it has worked for you. YAY!!!
Have fun at mothers group..
I REALLY HAVE TO GO!!!! HAVe missed catching up with you guys on a daily basis..
XXXXXXXXXXXX
-
-
Sorry Sarajo! It's controlled crying, so you leave your baby to cry themselves to sleep (but you go in as often as you want to pat, put dummy in etc). I call what I've done with Coco CC but it hasn't involved that much crying! xo
-
Oh! Thanks Meg!
Beck - out loud laughs? Awe! Abby has squeeled and cood a lot, but no laughing out loud yet!
Do your babies have tears yet? Abby has a tiny bit, just like one at a time...I wonder if her ducts are clogged?
-
Sarajo - yup, real laughs. She had been gurgling & squealing for a while and she was chuckling in her sleep at about 2 weeks old! *L* She wouldn't repeat the laughs for Daddy this morning so he was a bit cranky! oops....
Abby doesn't have tears properly yet? IIRC, bubbies don't have real tears until at least 6wks...that's round about when I noticed that Madeline's crying fits were complete with proper tears.
As you can imagine, I'm now a mess when she cries. Not only does she work the bottom lip and sound so sad but now there are little tears cascading down her cheeks! :(
-
Thank you all for your birthday wishes. They made me feel a bit better.
Meg, I'm glad Tresillian helped you and also glad I didn't make you sick, I've felt so guilty with everyone else here getting sick.
sarajo, I got DF some medicated throat lozenges, which I think he is taking, I don't think he'd even take childrens medicine. Maybe he's just happy being sick and miserable
I am having a horrible day. Logan has a cold. He has a runny nose, but I guess it's better than the blocked nose he's had the last few weeks. He won't let me put him in his cot so I have to carry him practically everywhere. He has weed on himself 3 times this morning while I've been changing his nappy. At first he looked shocked but now he seems to think it's hilarious, he grins, giggles and kicks.
DF told me this morning that he wants to quit his job because he hasn't been able to have the last couple of days off sick. There are only three people to work in the store and one is already off sick, it takes two people to run the store, so if DF wasn't there they'd have to close it for the day. He also rang me from work asking if I'd taken Logan to the doctors and got upset when I said no, because there is nothing that they could do for him. I feel so depressed, stressed and anxious, I just want to turn off all the phones and have a cry, but that would just make DF annoyed with me in case he tries to call again.
Sorry I'm going to stop whinging now, hope you're all having great days! XOXO
-
Mel - I hear your frustration about having a sick bubby! HUGE hugs for you & Logan. People were constantly ringing me and asking if I'd taken Madeline to the doctors and why not when I said 'no I hadn't'. Sadly they don't seem to understand that a doctor can do just about nothing for a 6/8wk old baby as they're not old enough for anything stronger than children's panadol. You can only keep an eye on their fluid intake, check their temperature and try and keep them comfortable. *sigh*
Hope you are both feeling better soon!
-
YAY Melly hope you are having a good day. I was so tired I could only just manage to put the Happy Birthday in and then I went to sleep LOL! I hope you get spoiled today. Feel better soon :hugs: Tell DF you will swap with him and then he can really have something to complain about. Why is it when most men get sick its the end of the world lol?
Sarajo Abby is so cute! Love it that you get into the holidays.... Easter isnt far away!! I dont think you take too many pictures. If I honestly put up all the pictures I take of Jasmine, you would all think she was blind from a million flashes in her eyes :cryinglaugh: I even went and got a new flash card because I found that 600 pictures just didnt seem like enough space... Now I can fit over 3000 pictures and movies on my digital camera lol Poor Jasmine
Beck Dont you love it when they laugh? I cant wait til they get their belly laughs. Yesterday I was watching TV and had Jasmine on my chest burping her, I thought she was asleep, I laughed at something and then so did she. It was hysterical. Jasmine has had tears for a while, but she also had a blocked tear duct up until the week before last. Oh and the bottom lip omg lol  Im going to be a sucker for that my whole life I think!
Rach good to see you. Glad to hear Hannah is well and hope your 8 week check up goes fine.
Meg, you wouldnt believe it.... Last night Jasmine slept from midnight til 7 am this morning lol. Not only did she not even give me a chance to put her to bed awake, but she didnt stir the whole night! Typical. I bet thats what she does when the Tresillian lady gets here LOL. We had a big day at my friends house there was sooo many people there and Jasmine was in such a good mood smiling her head off, everyone was just fawning all over her... she loved it. I got home around 11pm, gave her a bath, fed her, burped her...asleep lol Im sure after that big sleep that tonight will be different. I talked to them all alot about CC and I think that might be better for me. I really like hearing how you do it with Coco. I think if I had to rock Jasmine to sleep for the next few months I would not be a happy mum, so now Im hanging out for the Tresillian nurse. Do you wait to see signs of her being tired like yawning... the big blinking lol (i call it that when she is struggling to keep her eyes open) or do you just choose a time and put her to bed? Jasmine doesnt wake herself up when she is startled or jumps with her arms and legs, it really doesnt bother her, I watch her do it all the time... Do you think she would still need to be wrapped? Maybe in the cradle it might be different because its not as snuggly as the rocker is. Im going to put her in there for the afternoon naps today and see how I go without wrapping and will wait for the nurse to show me how to wrap with her arms up.
Myer is having a sale today so Im off to go check it out!
-
Last night I was motivated by all of your sleep routines to try out the bath before bed trick with Maddy.
It SO worked a treat. She had a scream while I had a soak first in a good bubble bath and then John brought Maddy in. She was totally intrigued by the bubbles...it was so cute! She had a cry when Daddy took her out again (she hates that cold feeling you get when the cool air hits your wet body) and felt soothed when she was dressed. In fact, I didn't even need to feed her to sleep, she just fell asleep on my lap while I was cuddling her. I then put her to bed and she slept til midnight (4hrs).
The bath before bed trick didn't work when we were bathing her on her own in the baby bath but for some reason she is really relaxed after a soak with Mummy in the bath. I guess we have a new routine! :)
Kate - That is so cute about Jasine hearing you laugh and then laughing herself! :) YAY for you having a terrific sleep....your little girl is just toying with you! *LOL*
-
Kate I wouldn't worry too much about teh wrapping. Is she in a sleeping bag? Maybe you could wrap her under her arms so her arms are free. Just ask the lady, Im sure she'll not make you do anything you don't want to.
As with putting her to sleep, they recommend that a baby this age not be awake for more than 1.5 hours. So from wake up you time 1.5 hours OR you watch for tired signs. I find as SOON as Coco starts kicking legs and arms like a MAD woman, it's bed! ANd if I get her down then, she's more likely to go to sleep quicker. Although ni the arvo/ night I find it harder as I don't want her to nap at 5.30, so I try to keep her up until 7pm. It's getting hard!! But Im trying to feed her every night at 7pm and then bed 7.30 so we have some routine. I've been doing that for about a week. Makes it easier having a bedtime!
beck ,so cute that Maddy laughed. Coco has only laughed in her sleep (gave me theshock of a lifetime) but hasn't laughed for me when awake. im desperate to hear it though!!
Had my last mothers group today. We're on our own now!! We'll still meet same time and day.
Hope Mel that your'e feeling better and Logan too. You poor thing. Im thinking of you. Try not to get stressed or anxious.I know it's easier said than done!!

Thanks Meg. Yep we have a few grobags and a couple of the regular sleeping bags...... She loves them.
The midwife ended up coming over around 6pm this evening.
I did not know that they were only supposed to be awake 1.5 hours at a time, but she told me that too. She was really shocked when I told her when Jasmine is overtired and fighting me she can be awake for 8 hours lol but it hasnt happened that bad for a while. Funny thing was as soon as she got there she was like.... ok so you have just fed her and she was awake for about 2 hours before that? I dont know HOW she knew because I didnt tell her at all. She said I should wrap her from underneath her arms down.... and showed me how, but she also said I could stick to the grobags and sleeping bags, but only if Jasmine is recognising them as bed time signs?
Anyway I didnt get to try it out again tonight, she is fast asleep already and went to sleep while I was feeding her, burped but didnt even open her eyes lol So I guess maybe she was playing up when she was in her growth spurt thing and now she is back to sleeping as normal? I dont know when I will get the chance to put the routine into place if she keeps sleeping like this. But hey Im not complaining. If she wants to sleep like this 11-6 or 12-7 thats fine with me, suits me perfectly to be honest. She doesnt really 'wake up' til 10am-11am anyway when she sleeps through and goes to bed early.
Still its good to be prepared and now I wont freak out next time it happens and I wont feel so useless.
I guess I really should just go to bed myself now!

Hey ladies! :) I'm off to the dentist today (I have THE worst teeth and I've been avoiding the dentist....had such a bad time lately with pain from holes in my teeth - exaggerated by pregnancy) that I've given in and am finally getting them looked at!
Maddy was so good last night. A princess for Daddy while at the coffee shop while I did the grocery shopping and then when we got home; she had a feed and went off to bed at 11pm. Slept in her bassinet (yay...first time in about 4 weeks since she's been sick) until 4:30am. Longest stretch yet! :) Fed her and she went back to sleep til 6:00am when Daddy got up to go to work.
