Sorry girls for being so slack. After a boot in the bum I am back here. Life has been very hectic around here. Seems there's never a quiet moment.
Nic, that is fantastic that Olivia likes that food. See, told you it was good stuff. Now get ready for the yummy poos from it ;)
Lauren, it was awesome to catch up with you and sexy little Asher. Thanks for making the trip for us :D
Morgan, good luck on being a single mum. It will have it's ups and downs hun. Just remember to take some time out for yourself too. It can be wearing.
Sorry I can't post more. Abbey is feral atm. Has been crying and whinging for days now. Doing my head in seriously. Better go, she is screaming again !!
Will bbl and post something more interesting.
-
LOL - it wasn't a boot in the bum Trish! I was just checkin on ya :) Sorry to hear Abbey is being a pain just like Kayla! OMG - what is with these babies?? It's only at night tho with us.
OK.. gotta run, got swimming lessons at 10, then dr's appt for Kayla's needles.
Ciao!
-
Morgan - wow, single mum! it'll be worth it tho! You'll be fabulous I reckon.
Lori, hope things are improving.
Sorry to hear about that horrid night Nic - you poor thing.
Hi to everyone.
We had luck with the purple Rafferty's food too. Not the yellow tho. I nearly cried when Ella actually opened her mouth for it. After over 2 months of doing solids, I think there's 4 things she'll eat, including milk arrowroot biscuits & chicken broth (maybe you could try that Nic - I just made up one with a 'soup pack' of vegies, chicken and low salt chicken stock - amazingly Ella eats that some days! I'm going to make it again but blend it up now I know she likes the flavour). She'll eat the yoplait baby yogurt too, so maybe you could also try that! No vegies, & not much else. I nearly cry every time I read all the foods & how much all these other bubs are eating. I was going to be such a good mother & feed her all vegies, then fruits, then other stuff, but that's just impossible...
Well, we actually got a 5 hour stint at night the other night, but last night back to the normal up every 2 hours. Dunno what she wants, I think she's putting her own dummy in now, & sometimes she's just crying with it in!?! Also, she must be better again cos the day sleeps are sucky too. Oh well, I enjoyed my fortnight of time out.
Lauren, how awesome that Ash went that long. Don't you hate it when you wake up any way. It sounds like it is caffeine withdrawal from the headaches & stuff. If you hang in a bit longer it'll get better. You've probably had the worst of it by now! Then you can feel really virtuous because you're not addicted any more he he he
-
Was going to post but I am just to tired. had a good day did some shiopping now just veging out waiting to go to bed.
have a Great night everyone.. chat tomorrow.. oh and Olivia ate again and dang it she went to bed at 5pm and hasn't woken up yet
-
Hi all,
I think we're over the worst of it, finally. Hopefully, that'll be it for sickness for a while (touch wood). I miss my happy little boy :(
Which rafferty's stuff is everyone using, the liquid or the cereal? We use the cereal, their rice cereal is great and the banana porridge is pretty yummy. The orange one- wholegrain something- made Ty constipated.
Jus- You are a very good mother. Not your fault Ella's so finicky ;)
Morgan- That's a bit scary, dh being away. I'm sure you'll be fine, you'll breeze through it.
Nic and Lauren- My sympathies for your early mornings, especially Lauren for having to do it without a coffee! Ty actually slept through last night- apart from one wake up for about 30 seconds when dh's alarm went off at 4 am. That's the first time ever!! :cheer:
Hope you all have a good night. I am hoping for another like last night but not counting on it- Ty wouldb't even go to sleep in his own cot tonight  he's in our bed already.
-
Lori - i hope it is the worst over for you and things start looking up!!
Nic - thats awesome olivias eating, where are u guys getting this stuff from?? ive never heard of it.
I took Ash for a big walk in his pram yesterday to get him to sleep so i could space out the before bed sleep. So he slept about 3-4pm so thought that was great was 6pm and still was awake so all that was great, but ended up going to be at 6:30pm he was out like a light!! but still he was up at 5.15am so i think thats just the way his body is now. I could try to push him back out to 7.30pm, but i just get so tired now too and love going to bed early. i suppose if i dont mind the early starts then its fine, as long as the little man gets his sleep, thats all i care about :)
Had a bad night with wind again tho.. not as bad as the other night, but i think im going have to be ALOT more strict with my no dairy, i have been pretty slack and with cutting out all ,my caffiene, why stuff it with the dairy. So today is very strict day 1 !! - First thing im going to do is find non dairy chocolate!!!! LOL
Oh Got the dvd player! He was scared out of his pants!!! hated it! i thought for $130 we can try a bit more. so hes been watching it in the house, just freaked out when its in the car.. mind u i did have a terrible dvd in there, so ill put his fav. wiggles today and see how he goes!!
-
Lauren: Rafferty's is in woolies! It isn't in a jar or tin its ina squeezy juice box type of thing.
Well yet another crap night thanks to Jacob.. Olivia slept 5pm till 11:30 then she slept till 4.. and was up at 6.. BUT
Jacob woke at 11, 2, 4 and 6.. Seriously WHY???
I went to bed at 8pm :O I haven't gone to bed that early since I was a kid  except when I was sick
-
Nic - you poor thing. Jacob "go to sleep"
Lori - woohoo. I'm so celebrating for you.
we're using the squeezy packet raffertys stuff. must get some more. might try some of the other stuff seeing as bubs like it.
Last night crappy here, awake for around 2 hours from 2 am. I think it was teeth. wouldn't re-settle in cot, wouldn't re-settle in cot in our room, wouldn't re-settle in bed with us. finally did the panadol thing, which takes ages & winds her up because the little miss has figured out that she doesn't want the dummy when we put drops of panadol on it (only way to get it in otherwise she spits it straight out no matter what we do). ho hum...
Lauren, just a word on the dairy. It's worth being strict with it. It takes a whole month for it to be completely out of your system. scarey I know. But it will be worth it. And it's so worth checking the packets of everything: whey, milk powder, milk solids, etc, etc. even bread, biscuits... If you want ideas for non-dairy products, let me know. sweet william does a chocolate spread too. way yummy.
feeling very weird here as dh has taken dd out so I can get some work done for school. I'm missing her and nervous of what's going to happen. they're off to the ils, which I'm a bit nervous about, but they're not too bad. Just MIL looked after her one day for me, and after I'd done the 'feeding' thing, I came home to find more feeding had been done (forced?) & then I had ella unhappy about the high chair for a while. altho I looked like a bimbo going 'whatever, we'll give it a rest now' there was actually a master plan of not creating a food battle! Oh well, I have to let go of being a control freak & get on with my work.
-
Hi all,
Nic- Gl;ad you had a nice early night. Probably very good for you :)
Lauren- Had to laugh at Ash hating the DVD player, poor little thing. It's bizzarre what freaks them out isn't it?
Jus- Ahh I totally understand. As you know, I hate leaving ty with the in laws. mil put honey on his dummy when he was 5 weeks old. And I've lost count of the times I've heard her say "chn?? world health organization? what would they know?". btw, want to go walking this week? We are un-gastro-contagious as of an hour ago (24 hrs from last runny poo). And did you still need a sleeping bag for Ella? Ty has just grown into his bigger one so I have one here that will fit her. It's blue but!
Just packed up most of Ty's size 00 colothes :( Awww, sad. And Jus I know you will be very jealous, but Ty actually fell asleep- with no patting, rocking, shushing or boob, on the lounge room floor- first time ever. Poor little thing must still not be feeling very well.
-
Jus - where is sweet william sold? i went to safeway today and couldnt find any chocolate, there was no decent health food shop so ill have to look somewhere else tomorrow.
Well FiNally he likes his DVD player! thankgod! i put his fav wiggles on and didnt hear a peep out of him all the way to and from the shopping centre! yay! well see how he goes on monday with the big drive to the new house!!
Lori - its so sad packing there clothes up for the next size, i know exactly how u feel! Im still can believe i have all 0's and starting to buy 1's already!!! i took 2 jumpers back yesterday that needed to be size 1 and it was so sad how big there were! i still have his 0000 even tho i think he only got to wear 2 outfits cos he was so big lol
Well had an exciting morning - Ash had professional photos done and they were absolutely gorgeous! im getting a huge canvas one of a set of 3 pics in the oldern day colour - not black and white but brown sort of, anyway he was sitting with this older style teddy that was the same size as him and it was one - him sitting both facing the camera, one him facing the teddy with his hand on it and the other was of there backs next to each other and omg it is sooooooooooooooo beautiful i almost cried!!! cant wait to get it!!!!! His eyes are sooo beautiful big and blue so i put him in blue clothes and the pics were just sensasional! i will have to scan then when i get them back to show everyone!
I really wanted to get this done asap cos i found out couple nights ago my grandfather whos in hospital is getting worse and worse, everything keeps failing and my grandmother even said she doesnt think hes going to come home from the hopspital! :( so my mum is going up there soon and i want to give them some pics, i dont know if ill get up there any time soon, so i hope i can before its too late! :(
Well better get packing i guess.... ahh crap..so cant be bothered!
-
Sorry I haven't been in for a few days. I actually read the posts and wanted to reply but I was so damn tired and hormonal. After a week of hell with sleep Loren finally had a good night and self settled a number of times....I so hope this continues.
I went pshyco yesterday and told DH I was leaving, then AF showed up. I really felt like an idiot after my explosion but after 5 nights with only 3 hours sleep per night I was done iykwim.
Much better today but DH is still scared of me LOL!!!!
My settling technique is working for Loren so I am to continue.
Nic - I hope you get a better night.
Lori - Glad to hear you guys are on the mend.
Trish - Hi stranger, good to hear from you.
Morgan - It is hard when DH goes away for work but you do get used to it. My DH only goes for a week at a time and I am ready for him to come back afer 7 days. Can you get a grandparent to do a day or two of relief for you?
Jus - Don't worry so much about the lack variety Ella is eating. Just keep re-introducing from time to time. If you are worried about variety for veg then mix it with friut or put it in another food she will eat. I struggled with my ils on certain issues as well, especially food!!! I stood my ground with them and did not comprimise and I think they have finally got it!!!
Buzzie - WTG on Ash's sleep. He is such a super baby!!! Sorry to hear about your granddad.
Where do I get the Raferty food from?
BTW Loren weighed in at 8.5kgs and is 72cms long!!! She is in the 95th percentile for weight and height..She doesn't look big to me but now I am worried that she is too big.
-
Hey Bekz, no wonder you were done! Doesn't hurt to put some fear into dh. Who knows, he might surprise you with something nice!
Rafferty's I just get from woolies/coles.
Same for the Sweet William lauren. in the organic section. If you're real desperate I'll send you some!!! he he he.
Bekz, what was your settling technique you were using again? WTG on the improvement.
No way is dd too big. if the weight & height match, then she's perfect. They need to put on as much weight as they can now cos when they're toddlers they can't consume enough in a day for what they expend. Ella's less than 10th percentile. That freaks me out a bit, but now that she's actually gaining weight i'm not going to stress. I think she's gotten chubbier in the last few weeks too.
Lauren, drooling over the sound of those photos. can't wait to see them...
-
Just have to jump in and say we've bought tickets to the Wiggles LMAO. The latest DVD we hired was a live in concert one, and both DH & I thought it looked like fun, so we bought some tickets. Unfortunately all the 'hot potato' seats are taken, so we'll be in the upper section of the entertainment centre, but I'm sure Tallon won't mind. He's not the type to get in the mosh-pit anyway LOL. The seats right in front of the stage don't look great anyway, coz they can't see the whole stage, and it'd be worse for the little kids. So yay! 20th December we're going to the wiggles!
-
Hi everyone
Lauren - So sorry to hear about your grandfather. I hope you get a chance to see him. The photos sound adorable cant wait to see them.
Lori - Great news that Ty is on the mend and WOOHOO on the sleep. Even one night makes such a difference for us ;)
Bek - at the explosion - at least you could blame AF I'm just a biatch lately. No hope of any support from grandparents as we have absolutely no family support here :(
Liz - Ah the Wiggles - You'll have a ball.
Jus - Great news that Ella's gaining weight.
Nic - Jacob stop mucking up at night - I hope he starts sleeping better soon for you so you can make the most of Olivia's lovely sleeping.
Well we took Vicky out of the baby capsule today and put her forward facing in a car seat...she had the biggest smile the whole ride and no screaming - Yipee! but my little girl is growing up so fast. We went and laybyed the kids "big" christmas pressie today at Target - A toy kitchen - Alex was so upset that we didn't take it home today  just have to wait kiddo.
Thank you for all your kind words and reassurance's I think im actually looking forward to a little break from DP as he is just driving me insane *sigh*. I got a bit of a practice run tonight as he is out at a concert so I had to bath & bed the kids - no problems but then after I had cooked tea (homemade pizzas) for all of us plus his mate & his GF I was left to also clean up....good thing DP isn't home til tomorrow.
Well have a lovely Sunday everyone
-
Jus - Sounds like our bubs are at either end of the height and weight sectrum....would be funny to see of pic of them together hey!! I am not using any particular settling technique. I actually took your approach and decided to do it my way or by instict iykwim. Therefore I have decided to keep a simple routine of cuddling Loren until she is really settled, then put her in the cot (whilst still half awake) and settle her by sitting beside the cot with one hand on her until she is asleep. If I here her stir I am trying to settling her by sitting next to the cot or I pick her up and put her down when settled. For some reasong this is working and she has even settled herself quite a few times over night....You never know this maybe a turning point but tonight could be back to normal.
Liz - WTG on the Wiggles concert. I want to take Sara if I can. Wiggles are the :band" of the moment for us.
-
YAY Liz!! Another Wiggles fan! I brought tickets for Ash for is birthday, and we got upper section too, i brought them 4 days after going on sale and all 8 concerts were sold out on lower levels :( i hope Ash will like it from there. We're going on the 16th Dec - Kids under 12months are free..so got him in with just a week to go! woot!!! hehe
-
Morning All!
Last night was SO much better. worked out why Jacob was waking so much the night before. The Bl@@dy cough mixture I bought had pseudoephergine (sp) in it (speed basically) and it can cause sleeplessness  I asked for a non drowsy one so I guess I got that.. It stopped the cough though but we got a worse nights sleep.. He slept well last night with no coughing. He just fell out of bed a few times.. *sigh*
Olivia slept great. only woke the once 2am I think. I was swaying with tiredness so I don't know  We went to inlaws for Birthday BBQ as it was FIL birthday yesterday. I was so tired I ended up pushing Simon out the door saying Lets go  We had Reef and Beef and it was delish..
and we have tooth number 3. eye tooth number one is through, so we have two bottom and one top..
Today we have a BBQ Birthday Party for Ethans Birthday which is wednesday (and SImons which is Monday I have a cake for both but Simon doesn't know that everyone is celebrating his Bday today too )
Well after my huge rmble I shall go :)
-
:D:DJust wanted to good morning all
Been having a few bad days here with missy no idea what is wrong, doesnt seem to be teeth no signs anyways more inclined to think she has picked up a bug somewhere...
Had a half decent sleep last night though feeling better this morning hope I continue to havea good dday
Have a great birthday BBQ NIc for the boys wont Simon be suprised :D:D
Woow Buzzie that is Olivia birthday you are going to the concert I honestly have to say Olivia isnt into any tv at all shows not a ounce of interest..
I was trying to get her that Playgro car Travel gym from Target and its sold out here (the sale) and they dont know if they are getting any more in which is a right pain... What is the point of having a 2 week toy sale if the products sell out on the first day.. That is my vent anyways :(:(
Oh forgot to say happy belated 7 months my sweet pea
Take care all
-
Lauren - I'm not taking Kayla, and if I do, well, I doubt they'll be asking for ID to see if she's 1 yr old. hehe. She'll be 13mths by then. I can't imagine her being interested in the show, she doesn't even look at the TV yet LOL. Tallon showed no interest in TV for a long time either. So I'll have to see if mum will look after her for the afternoon, we're going to a 4pm one.
Wow, all these babies turning around in the car! I can't imagine Kayla turned around yet hehe. She'll be rear facing as long as possible I think.
Nic - I'm the same with those tablets.. even if I take one early in the morning I can't sleep that night. I'm not wide awake.. just can't sleep! So I go in search of ones that PUT me to sleep LOL.
Well, we're still having wakeful nights. I didn't have any caffeine yesterday, and she was better last night. Still woke frequently, but no incessant screaming.
Tallon on the other hand, woke around midnight and cried and cried and cried. Couldn't be consoled. It was awful, and annoying coz I was trying to settle Kayla at the time. Normally when he wakes he just jumps in our bed, lies down and goes back to sleep. Dunno what it was. He did have a whole cupcake with icing last night (someone else fed it to him - argh) so I'm thinking it was a sugar thing. He's really bad when he has sugar, he literally runs laps of the house or runs around in circles hehe.
Thankfully he loves eating fruits and things, and regularly asks for gherkins or olives, and eats popcorn as a snack too (freshly popped) so normally he has healthy snacks. I don't really object to junk food coz he eats well other times, but geez.. he's hard to handle when he has it.
Well, must go, we're all going to have a nap! hehe. Altho I don't really want to fall asleep, I want to make use of my child-free time!
Bye!
-
aargh crappy night here again. miss woke as we went to bed at 10 & cried for 2 hours. nothing would console. rang tresillian for advice - might be of interest to you all that it could possibly (who knows!) be developmental advances disrupting her sleep. But it could be anything really. then woke every hour after i finally sang her to sleep. yay for dh who kept her in bed with him & let me sleep in spare room.
Maybe the fact I cuddle her to sleep???
Although, I've been trying to put her down awake this week (roughly what you do Bekz) and without fail, she wakes 25 min later, inconsolable and impossible to re-settle. If not, I think she would generally sleep around 1 hour. But who knows what would have happened. This defies all the explanations that Tresillian & Karitane have given me about putting to bed awake. Does anyone else have this?
I'm wondering if it's got to do with separation anxiety. She's very clingy. Cries any time she sees me. I thought the crying was supposed to reduce after 3 months. not at our house. we're aiming for olympic records.
i'm getting more & more down at how each time I think there could be sleep improvement she reaches new lows. And all the other bubs seem to be doing better.
sorry not responding personally, sounds like lots of fun things happening - wiggles, birthdays, woohoo.
have a nice sunday. been sitting in the sun with a cuppa. lovely.
-
Jus - crying doesn't reduce at 3 months. It just changes. They become aware of people, and separation anxiety can kick in when they realise they can't see mummy, they go through big developmental leaps, and they start cutting teeth. There's lots to cry about really hehe. Some babies do cry more than others, I find Kayla cries more, and louder! than Tallon did. I think it's very much a personality thing. I think Kayla wants to get moving and get into things, whereas Tallon has always been very passive, has always been content to sit & watch and not necessarily participate. As for sleeping - i don't think all the other bubs are doing any better, we all seem to be complaining of sleepless nights, so you're not alone! I think it could well be developmental for them all. I know when they start crawling they tend to practice it in their sleep, and i also read somewhere that once they can sit & stand, it's like an instinct that makes them want/need to be upright, so even when they're heaps tired, they'll keep sitting up or standing up. Poor little things. So we just need to help them through it.
-
Nic - Happy Birthday to your boys.
Jus - Sara (DD1) was and excellent sleeper but she did have sleeping issues just prior to acheiving a developmental stage such as crawling and walking. I have read that this is called a wonder week/month. How is Ella with different foods? Her wakefullness could be due to food intolerances, this may also explain why she is not a big eater (I think I remember you mentioning this before). More often than not dairy to a big factor with sleep issues and bubs. Try going off dairy and taking her off it too. On the other hand you may have a clingly bub who just needs that bit extra comfort. If this is the case take her to bed if it means you all get better sleep. Loren is much more clingy than Sara ever was and I am finding this hard to adjust too as well.
Liz - Half of Loren's sleep issues are because she wants to stand up in her cot. This why I have resorted to holding her initially before putting her to bed and I use the bag but she still gets up
-
jus - are you drinking soy milk???? i got some today - havent tried it yet - but im going nuts without milk, and i read on this dairy free website about how they are horrid to the cows and take there babies away omg i wont go into details but its made me sooo upset i want to drink soy now anyway!! - she says cooking steak for dinner...:wall:
-
Just a quick one.. Had a great loooong day.. Started at 9:30 ended at 3:30 :)
Olivia is a bit grumpy with Daddy so I might go give cuddles and see if I can fix it
Simon had a nice surprise :D Great day
-
Buzzie/Jus - Becareful drinking soy too!!! It has proteins that some bubs can't digest. You end up with the same result as being on dairy. Rice milk is the best!!!!
-
ahhh bugga,... this is harder than i thought! is rice milk in the same health isle in the supermarket.. ive not heard of it.. Thanks for that bekz
-
Buzzie - You can get rice milk in the UTH milk section. I like the Vitasoy brand the best. It is hard going off dairy, I have done it heaps of time and I hate doing it but I do feel better once I have detoxed
-
*yawn* how I would love a full nights sleep. It's been 2 1/2 years now I think that I haven't slept through! LOL. We haven't had the screaming for a couple of nights, just big feeds!
I'm actually considering setting up the big cot in Tallon's room and putting Kayla there, coz I have a sneaky feeling that us moving around in bed and DH's occassional snoring is waking her up. Bit sad to not have her next to me tho :( i guess I can just try it. I'll leave her other cot next to me for if/when I have to go and get her. We've all been sleeping in our room the last couple of nights.. nice & cozy all together.
Lauren - DH drinks rice milk - he likes the Country Harvest one (I think it's country harvest). Altho now he's drinking the Lactose free milk. Is it lactose or dairy in general that you have to avoid?
Nic - glad you had a great time. I hope Ethan felt very special and loved, and felt no need to hide away from anyone!
Well, I've just got a busy day around the house today. Trying to do some washing, tho it's a gloomy drizzly day today, so my house is going to look like a laundry shortly LOL.
-
Hi all,
Nic- Glad you had such a good day :)
Liz- Oh don't tell me you haven't slept through for 2 and a half years, I might cry. We are back to our same old horrible slept patterns. The developemental thing makes sense but- it would explain why I almost have to hold Ty down in his cot to get him to go to sleep- he's got a thing for pushing up onto his knees and the top of his head at the moment. looks painful. Good luck with your washing. I hate using my dryer but I have a load in ther at the moment.
Jus- for you. I know it's hard. Let's sell them on Ebay and go on a holiday to Bali with the profits hey? ;)
Hmmm a very boring houseworky day here. I'm even going to try and make a lasagna for dinner :) Very Stepford of me.
-
Yep have to agree that sleep is not happening here either day or night :(
Vicky has decided that she'll only sleep properly during the day if I hold her, putting her in the cot and shes awake within 15mins  and nights argh! she was brilliant for ages then since Thursday its getting worse and worse...falls asleep with bf put her in bed and 5 mins later crying, cuddle her to sleep put her down wakes up straight away, pick up straight asleep put down awake straight away...so last night i sat there patting & shushing for an hour (OMG) and finally went to sleep only to wake at 2am for a feed and instead of going straight back to sleep as before the same crap as before. Then crying at 4am cause her teeth were bugging her. Plus Alex is calling out again around 1am - Will be sooooooooooooooooo glad when this improves somewhere between now and the next 5 years.
:cheer: Happy 7 Months to my little girl :cheer:
Nic - Glad to hear the boys loved their party.
Jus
-
liz- dairy in general.. ill hunt down the rice milk.....
-
Hugs Morgan - I had a very similar night last night with both Sara and Loren up an down. I literally saw each hour tick over until 6am and then I got to sleep for 2 hours. Of course this made my late for playgroup, but omg I needed that 2 hours. I am on my second coffee for the day and it is not helping...
Buzzie - Are you going off dairy for you or for Ash? Only asking because you won't see an immediate improvement. You really need to be off it strictly for 1 month. This is what I have to do when my allergies flare up. I usually go dairy free for 3 months at a time.
-
Bekz - it is supposed to be for Ash, but the chiro was never REALLY strict. Said if i wanted to wait till after treatment and if he was still not improving then try going off dairy, but i went all out and just did everything to make it better.
Is soooo confusing what is right tho because Ash is fine during the day at passing wind its just night time, so he doesnt have a HUGE issue as if it was 24-7.
But going off caffiene has done nothing. he has always been a very good sleeper so with no caffiene hasnt improved him sleeping hes just waking up crying cos he cant pass wind at night time. And i very rarely ate dairy in the first place, like very a piece of cheese in my sandwich, very rarely a coffee with milk or eggs.. etc... so i was talking to mum today about it and we were thinking maybe its just the frequent feeding at night time and lying down. (because hes fine the second we get up in the morning!) I ve started getting him sleeping in his cot durning the day now which is fantastic and there decent sleeps well 45mins, but better than 10mins waking up looking to see if im still in the room. Anyway i think maybe its just time to get really strict and night time in is cot and putting the dummy in rather the constant boobie comfort...... see if that makes a difference..
Im getting alot more confident with his solids.. finally!!! hes having more of what I eat and seems to enjoy it, mind you he smooshed more of his toast than he ate this morningand didnt gag once but hes still gagging with his chunky lunches but is great with pureed tin stuff! i just hate giving him that stuff...i dont feel like a real mum unless i make my own stuff LOL sounds silly i know.. hehe
Does anyone else just buy the tins/jars or is everyone making there own food??
-
Lauren - We are homemade only here, but its easy as Vicky will eat anything so i just give pieces of whatever veg we have a night or just mash it together roughly with the masher, brekkie is bellamy's baby porridge which i just add some mashed banana to & lunch is normally a few pieces of apple & pear. What i do especially at dinner is cooked at little extra veg and put a couple of extra serves in the freezer for lazy days
I bought a jar the other week as i had nothing in the freezer and we were super late getting home - i couldn't get over how tasteless it was - lamb and 3 veg - it tasted like cardboard (JIMO) so I wont be doing it again. Alex never had jars/tins if we were out longer than planned i'd buy banana and/or avo and give him that.
Just my personal take on it and I dont have any issues with other people using those products - im just lucky enough to have the time to make my own.
-
Hey everyone, thanks for the reality check. :D At least I'm not in it alone on the sleep front. and it does sound like the weekend was a shocker because of some kind of 'wonder week' action. would love to read that book...
So sorry that no-one else is getting much sleep either.
Prob extra hormonal atm & so not coping v. well. Just have to keep hanging in there one day at a time.
thinking about getting rid of the dummy again tho! hmmm. dunno.
 to all the otehr sleep deprived mummies.
Lauren, Ella's wind did improve when I reduced the feeds, altho I don't think I was feeding as often as you. Reducing the no. of feeds made her feed better & therefore get more hindmilk & reduce the lactose overload which is a problem. Ella's still a bit of a windy bub on the whole, so I think it's just her / slightly sensitive gut, altho not the same probs you've got with Ash at night. I'm still wondering about going off dairy again tho & seeing if it improves night sleep.
On the solids front, I'm giving anything I can get my hands on. Am cooking for her, but because she's so fussy, not cooking much b/c she may not eat it, so lots of jar / package foods while we find out what she'll actually eat. Prefer to home cook, but we're going for reality here!
Hey Nic, just remembered something else she'll eat - the first thing she actually opened her mouth for - a heinz fruit custard that comes in packs of 4 tubs. Maybe Olivia will take that?
Found a new brand of organic/dairy free rusks (& other stuff I think) called "holle" at our local big chemist. Might be worth you looking for for ash Lauren.
Hope this all helsp & everyone's week going OK. Gotta go pay the baby some attention. just got home from work (aka my 'day off')

Hi all,
What a long painful day. i made the mistake of drving 45 minutes away to go shopping with a friend. Ty screamed the whole way there, screamed the whole hour we were there and thedn screamed the whole way home. Just major back arching tanties because he didn't want to go in the carseat, get out of the car seat, get in the pram, get out of the pram, have hos bum changed, etc. I have a pounding headache.
Lauren- I mostly make my own but I tried that Raffertys stuff the yesterday, the purple one, which was yum and I'm gonna try the yellow one tomorrow. Ty also had some of the fruit gels at Jus' place the other day so I've bought one of those too. And we do the packet baby cereal as well. ikwym about the night wind from laying down and constant feeds- I think that it part of Ty's night problem as well.
Hope everyone's night is better than last night!!

olivia eats !!!! WOOT
I bought another Rafferty's thing and we gave her some of that then I cooked some pumpkin, sweet tata and broccili and added some of the store bought stuff and she ate.. AND then I bought some new type of rusks.. They are for 12 months but I didn't know till I got home and they are like a cruskit but sort of softer.. Anyways she ate 2.. She loved them...
Even I liked them :) We bought a bike trailer today.. I went bike riding... Olivia is still to small but it was so nice to get out and about like that again with Isaac and Jacob and Ethan...
Well my big man is turning 9 in a few hours.. 12:10am on the 30th july.. Amazing.. 9 years!!

Happy Birthday to Ethan :) wow 9~! scary.
Well intresting night - It was GREAT. Much better sleep and I protested yesterday and ate a block of chocolate and had a caffiene filled cuppa and Ive never felt better LOL i was sooooo tired not having caffiene and Ash slept better than before, and yes LESS NIGHT TIME BOOBIES!!!!! i think i have finally found the answer! he is a constant feeder so i pushed him over to one side of the bed so he couldnt be so close to my chest and maybe that worked, plus i pushed his sleep time back to 7pm to tire him out... fingers crossed it wasnt a one off!

Fingers crossed Lauren!! bet that coffee and chocolate was perfect :)
Olivia slept.......715pm till 5:50am **dances** but GRR Jacob woke at 1 and 4 !!

Speaking of grandmothers, Ash got icecream last night for dessert! lol i was soo worried about the milk side as he has not had normal milk yet...but he kept opening his mouth for more and was in heaven! but he was fine was just a little and his teeth were hurting so it was ok.
