Lauren- I know what you mean, my dog drives me batty too. She was my baby before Ty came along :redface:
Bekz- Hi :) I'm pretty sure you can do yoghurt. A lot of the baby yoghurts have sugar in them so double check the ingrediants. Ty has Jalna yoghurt (bit spensive but pot set so no preservatives) and loves it. IKWYM about being bored with the diet- Ty eats the same as Loren except for the meat and pasta. Bring on the family foods I say! But he's not good with chewing or lumps yet.
Lori - Loren hates lumps too. I have started steaming the potato then grating it into sweet potato and Loren seems to accept the lumpy consistency. We only eat Jalna here so I may try her on some
Bekz, yes yoghurt is from 6 months, there my first yoghurts :D Ash loves them but im obviously not giving too much, he prefers custard so it the one dairy i let him have.
Lori, tya was my baby girl before Ash too. she gets occasional cuddle times now (if ashs asleep lol) but i swear its like having 2 kids... she snatches EVERYTHING he eats..and if he is in his high chair she sits underneth waiting for something to fall, in his walker she jumps up on the tray and runs off with it and always sits right on top of him! no matter how many times i pull her away cos he hurt her, she runs straight back and sits on him! grrrrr i counted 5 times the other day she cried cos he pinched her and she STILL came back... i dont get it!!! :wall: - thankgod shes only a chihuahua and doesnt crush him! hehe

Olivia's diet is boring too. I worry I don't give her enough variety.. I think sub conciousl I am holding off till she can feed herself.. We have tried a couple bits of meat but she doesn't like lumps so there isn't much point! Tonight she had potato, pimpkin, sweet potato and zuccini.. other nights she will have those veges with broccili and carrot.. but thats pretty much it.. I bought some spinach and haven't cooked it yet..
I will try again with her sitting at the table with a bunch of veges in front of her.. Oh and she eats sandwiches.. and custards..
Well time for custard here now.. She is just resting after a full bowl of veges :)
I have tried bread but she gags, but she does try and chew so I guess it won't be long.
Loren tried mashed banana and avocado yesterday...she loved it
oo I hadn't thought of banana and Avacado together.. Olivia can take or leave Avocado (forgot that one in previous post) I did make her a avacado sandwich the other day and she loved that...
Bek: Do you use white or brown bread? I have heard white bread is harder for them as it sticks to the roof of thier mouth..
Ty looooves mashed avo and banana. He also loves sweet potato and apple, cold, mixed together. I'm still making those bake in the oven rusk things with wholemeal bread.
Lauren- Our poor dog used to come out with us on weekends and come inside and sleep on the kitchen floor.. not anymore. She's a staffy and just mental- too big and energentic to be around Ty much. He loves her though- when we get the two of them together he thinks she's hysterical :D

Kayla's diet isn't very exciting either.. but we are slowly branching out. I gave her bread the other day and she was absolutely fine.. why was I so scared? LOL. We have Helga's light rye here, and I gave her a crust with vegemite on it. She does shove too much in her mouth at once, but she sorts it out hehe. I'm giving her more and more finger food (coz i'm too lazy to prepare anything LOL) and she had same as us tonight.. she chomped away on my lamb cutlet bone, and she had carrots & broccoli tonight too. Wolfed it all down.
OK.. gotta go.. this is Tallon's 3rd sleep where he's putting himself to sleep (yay!) Requires me popping in there for hugs and kisses regularly.. but I think we're onto a good thing. He doesn't get himself up, and when I tell him he's being so good for staying in bed he's all smiles and proud of himself.

I made some chicken stock from stratch yesterday and I have frozen small amount in ice cubes. I figure she can get used to the taste of chicken before the texture.
Best go DH has been really good today and he needs company...oh probably not that sort but who knows!!!
Hey girls, I'm still around too. Abbey has been sick too. Teething and a shocking nose and lingering chunky cough. All this adds up to a very broken night with Abbey crying and wanting to feed but can't. I took her to the Dr's as slapped cheek was going around the school and I thought she may have gotten it. Dr said no, cos her cheek wasn't red then, had been days prior to it though, I just thought it was her teeth, still could have been. Anyway, now she has that viral rash all over her so.... Anyways, nothing can be done about it.
Me, I have woken up in the middle of the night with the shakes, chills, fever, aches, headache and bloody mastitis! I feel like crap. Have taken some nurofen but the headache is still there and of course my boob is killing me. Told DP before he went to work and his response, if your still sick tomorrow I might take the day off! He knows that the first day is the worst with it. A hole. There is no way he'd have to cope with the kids on his own if he was feeling like this. GRRRRR. Wish his balls were still sore from his vasectomy.... LOL.
Sorry for no personals. I am going to crawl back into my hole now and die :(

Had a much better night lastnight wooot! ash went down about 8 and didnt hear a peep till 4am had a feed and back to sleep till 6am and then all the wind started coming, but geees wat a difference to all my other nights,. His poos are starting to become more normal too! yay, this medicine could really be helping.. :pray:
Ash's Dad messaged me yesterday with a big sorry sorry sorry sms! wants to see ash this week, didnt kick in that its fathers day on sunday so who knows when we'll catch up but now i need to see how truthful hes being about this and if he really wants to start stepping up or just doesnt want to pay mantainance.... hmmmm massive doing my head over happening here... :wall: I could give him one shot at it, at least while Ash is little and wont remember, and if he does one thing to mess him around hes outta here!
Well Ash needs breaky - he is finally eating heaps now and im getting really into this solids thing :) much more confident now..

Buzzie - Can you get some advice on how to deal with Ash's dad? It would be awfully confusing for a child to have a parent in and out of their lives. I am not telling you what to do but imo I would be making it very clear that he can't just walk on it whenever he wants to and then go again..iykwim Some ground rules would have to be set. I just gave her 1/4 weetbix mixed with her cereal and a drop of milk.. I am pretty sure I started giving the boys full cream milk in thier brekky at this age so we shall see how she tolerates it :)
She is brewing a nice nappy for me at the moment yay :lol:
Bekz - yes that is very true, my dad messed me up big time and still today after 23 yrs of it i still have my moments, after getting the sms i talked to mum about it, she is absolutely fantastic with helping me through this as she went to heaven and earth to protect us when our dad left, i admit i did cry for a while thinking im doing all this to ash what my dad did to me.
So yes there will be very strict ground rules, and thats why i need to make some very good decisions now. i know when ash is old enough he will ask about his dad one day so I can only guide him as gently as i can. And maybe if his dad seriously steps up and does the right thing, theres a potential to have a family.. and when he saw ash last time (when he was 6 months i think) he said he wants marraige and all the family stuff, hes just been a d!ck about doing it when 'he' is ready and ready to except he has to grow up. So who knows, one step at a time i guess and we'll see how this visit goes. Hes not a bad person - Just a really stupid idiot! LOL
Buzzie - I am sure Ash will be fine. He has a lot of family around him and one of the best mums:)
Hi All,
Well we are back fom our trip and it was fantastic! It was so nice to get away for a bit and relax (yes we did get to relax). Olivia was an angel for the whole trip :D; she slept in the car (we didn't have to stop once for tears), charmed everyone she met and SLEPT through the night!!!!! However last night on the first night back home she woke at 4am :( so not sure what is going on there, I think maybe she was just so worn out by the end of the day while we were away that she had to sleep through to catch up.
Oh and I saw two whales with calves in Warrnambool so that totally made my holiday.
Also the big news is that she started crawling properly 4 days ago!!! She is still kind of slow but is now into everything! :baby: I can't believe my little baby is getting so big.
Ahhh what a totally totally crap night here. I am falling apart at the seams. Ty was awake every hour, not wanting to feed, just screaming. I don't know why. Teeth? Belly ache? Who knows. I don't know how much longer I can cope with this. He has never slept for longer than 6 hours in his whole life. At the moment I'm lucky to get two hours in a stretch at night. I just can't do it any longer.
Lauren- I'm sure you will make the right desicion about what is best for Ash. It must be tough for you :hug:
Alicia- Glad you had a good holiday :) Whales with calves would have been awesome to see.

I have been out of the loop for some time know so I have done a quick read through the posts and it seems like lots of growing and changing happening.
I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble with their bub waking at 3-4am in the morning and wanting to party. I mean really wide awake!!! This has been going on for a few weeks now, maybe four out of the seven nights.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated?????
Had a real blaaah day here.. but tomorrow is a new day.. fingers crossed Olivia won't be such a cow tomorrow.. Simon is home so I won't have to deal with it alone though.. and he wants to go camping.. 6 kids 2 adults (niece and nephew here for the weekend) Not my idea of fun right now..
Kts: Olivia has done that and I used to try fight with her to get her to go back to sleep.. In the end I gave up.. I fed her then stayed up for about half hour to hour and watched tv.. So instead of wanting to start the day at that time she would tire after half an hour or so.... oh she has grown out of it now.. thank goodness cus its super tiring...

Maya ( 10th dec ) has 12 teeth and hasnt slepted over night yet shes reasonable good goes down at 6:30pm awake at 10pm i dont feed her she has a little talk to her self 5 mins maybe then goes back to sleep , does this again at 12am and 3 am but wakes around 430am and just screams . so i get her up and we have a feed ( breast ) she goes back to sleep in my arms , but the minute i got to put her back in to her cot she wakes and just screams , and screams and screams . so that ends me in giving in and bringing her back in to bed with me as i just want to get back to bed . and a small feed a minute or so and shes out again . and wakes up and the day begins at 7am .
i would like some suggestions about her 430am issues . I have tried feeding her when she wakes earlier , she has a radio going all night softly and often a vapouriser . when she wakes her bunny plays a lullaby . i have tried putting her in a cot in my room from 630 pm , but i find when she is in with me she doesnt go into deep sleep very restless often waking and this is happening from 430ish to 7 am she''s sleeping lite and wakes easily ( & I'm not getting much sleep ) . she refuses to sleep during the day at all no matter what i try .
My health nurse has had a go at me for feeding her over night at all . She is a Guzzler and would have food all day if i let her , is great with solids - mostly finger foods . oh and we failed sleep school at 4 months , but she is alot better now ( since around 5 months ) than she was then .
i have to do somthing about this as im a single mother there is no one else to sit and rock her . and im having to return to work very soon .
she has never had a dummy and refused to be wrapped from day one .

Maya has 12 teeth! Wow. We are waiting for the first one but we keep happily blaming teeth on all her grizzles....we are just waiting for one to pop through.
I feed Monique during the night and to be honest I forget the times overnight as I am so darn tired. I end up putting her in bed with me too (her cot and queen bed are in the same room. Hubby has made the move to the other room but I am yet to go). The last few nights when she wakes she just wants to be cuddled back to sleep which is getting tiring because if she isn't in a deep sleep when I put her down she howls until I pick her up again.
I don't have any suggestions for you sorry as we are up as well. I am going to try and put Monique in a routine of 8pm bedtime and 8am waketime without feeding overnight (although if she wakes for a feed before midnight I will give her one). I might have to move in with hubby too because maybe I am keeping her awake by being in the same bed as you say. I hope you get some helpful suggestions soon.
My body clock is naughty and I don't get to bed till late so no wonder I can't function in the mornings.

But I was in bed last night by 8pm. And Ty slept for two lots of 4 hours woot!!!!! So I feel much better than i did yesterday.

Dh is going away on Monday for six days. he asked us to come but I just couldn't get my head around all the stuff we would need to take- portacot, pram, bags of toys... list goes on. So I am being single mum for a week. Oh dear. Wish me luck.
Ty is soooo on bthe move. Can't keep him still for five seconds. Although we have Sesame St on at the moment and that is keeping him a little bit occupied.
Hi to all lovely Ladies and bubs,just poppin in to say hi,hope eveyone is feeling a little better ( those who are unwell) Finally my youngest is on the road to recovery except teething !and now our two year old has a chesty mucos cough is back on the nebuliser every 4 hours(he`s Asthmatic) and screams the bloody house down. Firstly, if your bub needs a feed overnight then feed her. Is she hungry or is the feed for comfort? You could try giving her a bottle with water in it if you think she is feeding for comfort or don't offer her anything. It may take a few nights of being unsettled but it might just work. Secondly if bub is really upset at the 4am wake up take her to bed with you and get some sleep. Eventually she'll sleep through the 4am mark and before you know it she won't come to bed with you. If it is sleep that you need than do what you have to get some rest.
kt - The 3am party is a killer. Loren was doing this about a month ago. I was sick of getting up and trying to put her back to sleep. In the end if she was happy I just let he be and eventually she went back to sleep. It seems that my lack of intervention actually helped her to self settle.
Nic - 6 kids and camping...oh no way.
Buzzie - I hope your dinner goes ok.
Took Loren to the health nurse today. She is 9kgs and 72cms!!! Poor little mite hit her mouth on the bath edge tonight and broke the skin on her gum, exposing her second top front tooth. We had lots of blood and screams!!!

Nic - Yes she is standing in the tub and starting to pull herself up on the taps...Although is does get down when I say No!!! Her favourite toy atm is the toilet. She loves to pull herself up onto the loo and play drums. I am constantly chasing her up the hall and catching her before she gets to the loo.

I am so peeved the night wakings have started again.. 5 nights in a row of wonderful blissful sleep and boom!! she starts waking again.. not to worry
Someone asked yesterday about Fathers day gifts.. I will do my usual.. I will scan thier hands and feet and get a photo of all the kids eithe rjust them or with Simon and then I put it all together on one picture and print it out and frame it :)

Well my lappy is finanlly starting to play up after the coffee spill and the num lock key is stuck on so i cant use it cos i cant type anything, so if i get a chance to get on mums ill try to keep up, dunno how much itll cost to fix, guessing it wont be under warrentee LOL
Dinner was very nice last night. Ash really enjoyed having cuddles and considering ash isnt used to late nights out, it went very well. Rob wants to see ash more and start being Dad so well take it slow and see how we go. He wants to come to the show with us so that would be nice to finally get some pics of him and Ash together. (next step is telling his parents but his brother is expecting a baby in 8 weeks so he doesnt want to take the lime light from him right now - which is fair enough i guess)
When i got home mum was very quiet and is very sad today cos she said she realised how much she would miss Ash if we did get back together. Now its sooo hard if they still go to qld and im left choosing - nanna and grand dad over daddy!!! GGRRHH its soooo not fair!! I think mum would be happier to stay here longer but her hubby is very set on going next yr. I would be so much happier if everyone just stayed here, but at the end of the day i can only do what i can afford to do and if Rob doesnt play daddy and we dont get back together then theres no way i can afford a house on my own so i go to qld regardless! - hmmm will take every day as it comes.. who knows what lies over the next yr!:wall:

Nic - Hugs for Olivia's night waking. Loren is unsettled from 10pm till midnight now, but then she sleeps from midnight to 7am..not so bad I guess.

We had the best day yesterday.. We spent it laying around watching tv. went to the beach and had fish and chips.. home again.. I day napped!!!! woooot! Ethan and I went for a bike ride that afternoon. Just a short one..
Olivia has been brilliant.. onto her 2nd nap of the day already.. house is clean (ish)
Put up our baby barricades yesterday so now I can breathe easy again.. :lol: Olivia kept fiding her way to the bathroom or boys bedrooms.. they are most definitly not baby proof..

And yay fixed laptop.. i brought a new computer keyboard plugged in it to the lappy, turned num lock off and took it out again and its working now.. lol good thing it only cos me $2 to buy - i think they scanned it wrong, tag said $19.99 LOL

Decent night here. although she wouldn't go to sleep till almost 9:30 last night. whiny and carrying on.. I really didn't think she would sleep all night but she did. only to 4:30 though but hey its better then nothing. Just sucks that my day starts then . She is now down for her 1st nap of the day..
