Nic - Olivia and Jake must have been talking last night cause he slept from 9:30 til 5am!! I him up then, he had a feed and then he went back down until 8...OMG! And to top it all off, DH got up to him at 8 and let me sleep til 9, I too feel on top of the world!! Here's hoping that that kind of sleeping is here to stay.

Nic- Glad she likes it so much :) I think I might have to get a tunnel now too lol! Those videos are so cute, I love the one of her kissing her dolly- gotts love those big open mouthed kisses. Ty will kiss me every know and then, dh never, but he has this one soft toy that he just loves and will kiss all the time :rolleyes:
Work last night was awesome. The rain cleared up just in time to light the Xmas tree :) Went for a very long drive today- 5 hours round trip- to spread dh's nan's ashes. poor Ty was so cranky, being stuck in the car for that long. And he can't even sleep properley in dh's carseat because his head flops all the way forward. Anyway, when we got there, dh's aunty had spread the ahes without waiting for us (sil was with us too). Dh was furious, so we got in the car and drove all the way back.... *sigh* long day....

Adkins, We went into the City today,(Sydney) & we were dissapointed in the lack of decorations, the xmas spirit certainly wasn`t alive in there,maybe they have`nt finished putting them up yet. The shop window displays hardly had a xmas theme to them as well,nothing like they were when my Nanna use to take us grandkids into the city years ago. Sorry to rant,but it was dissapointing for the kids.

Susan - sorry to hear your trip to the city was disappointing, our city is pretty good at the moment, we went there a couple of weeks ago to visit Santa in what they call "the magic cave" (not sure if all cities have these), it's a gorgeous place with carousel rides, and lovely xmas displays. Yep, we got our tree yesterday but didn't get time to put it up, probably won't have time today either as I'm at work!Oh well, hopefully tomorrow.
Nic - that is fantastic! You must feel so refreshed! We had a semi ok night here last night, Jake went to bed at 8:30 without a fight so that was great as we usually can't get him to bed until atleast 9:30, then woke up at 12:30 and 3:30 so not too bad!

Nic- Yay :cheer: :cheer: Go Olivia!! You must feel like a million bucks :) Maybe it's just a stage and they will grow into excellent sleepers (crossing fingers for Ty to do that too!!) And a Happy December1 to you too.
Susan- We get to put our tree up today too :dance: I'm putting it in the playpen so Ty can't get to it, I hardly use it for him anyway. I agree about the city- even when I was a kid I used to love going in for all the decos. It's a bit dissapointing. Maybe now December is on us it will get more impressive.
Ty officially has tooth #5 and #6 is on the way, but it's a top one so bugging him lots. I'm hoping he will wake up happy from his sleep so i can take him to get his Santa pic done. I've been holding out for our local shopping centre to start- he is a real Santa with a real beard, big belly and rosy sheeks. And he has 6 kids of his own and 13 grandkids, so he was telling me last year. I'm just hoping Ty won't be scared of him!

I think I know whats been wrong with Olivia. I haven't been offering enugh food :( She still isn't a big eater but i wasn't offering it as often cus she wasn't asking for it as such.. she has had 3 meals today.. not big but more then she would have on a normal day (not including dinner) and is so settled. I am hoping she will go down for a sleep shortly
Oh and i have started offering some cows milk in her cup at meal times.. so far she isn't to impressed but neither was Jacob/ why drink bought some when Mum has it all ready on tap :)
Here's hoping that Olivia will be a happy settled babe now... it really is trial and error to try and get the balance right isn't it?
Re the cows milk, not sure if this will help but to get Jake to start drinking it I used to put 1/2 teaspoon of banana quik in it and warm it up... he loved it! I'm now starting to reduce the amount I put in and in a couple of weeks hope to phase it out alltogether. Don't know if that was the right thing to do but it certainly worked for us and my boobies get a rest during the day lol
Right now I am probably happy for her not to have much cows milk.. I dn't want her to wean.. the CHN just said to offer it with her meals as she doesn't eat a lot of food with calcium in it...

Happy 1st of December,too!
I`ve had a real busy day today,worked for 4 hours this morning,came home for lunch then back out to the Children`s Hossy for DS,(15)needed to see an ENT Doc,turns out they wanted an Allergy test done,took forever,and he`s Allergic to heaps of stuff,and has to have a course of Injections over 4 months to help with his Sinuses & breathing.:o
Anyway got home to find my Chrissy tree up but is totally bare! I see that my DH,found my thread,lol. I`ve come to the conclusion that DH=Dik head:ROFL: not Dear Husband!:wall:
Well I?m going to finish my tree off tomorrow now,just feeling too tired tonight.I wish i could lay around and watch bloody cricket all day.:angry:

Nic,adkins-I started Kieren on cows milk,but he like his watered down a little with boiled water,I weaned him from Breast to Formula,now the cow`s milk,he is doing very well.
Nic- Kieren is a little eater too,he eats small but frequent meals.
Ok ladies & bubs,sleep tight dont let the bed bugs bite!!!! :lol:
Adkin - When i read your post i HAD to jump on. With putting quix in Jakes milk - I NEVER tell parents how to parent. but pls pls pls be very careful with doing that, especially while teething. its incredible how many parents have no idea what it does to there bubbas teeth, especially at this stage of growing them. SSSSOOOO many kids have had to have fillings as toddlers because there parents did the milo or quix thing in there bottles. If you were doing it at night i would definatly say STOP - thats a garenteed filling as the sugar sits on there teeth all night.
I know it may only seem like a little, but its ALL sugar. and most ppl dont start brushing as they dont think its nessasary which make it 10times worse. Hope you dont mind me saying ... Ive just seen some very terrible damage done and its so hard to tell the parents its ur fault.. LOL
M of M - Still no AF here either, I still breast feed ALOT at night so i think mine will stay away for a while yet.

Adkins- I'm in agreeance with Buzz on this one hun. I won't even give Ty juice. On medical advice, I was weaned onto apple juice at six months old :o (this was nearly 30 years ago, remember). I still have horrible teeth problems to this day and my mum and myself blame all the sugar in the juice. I have 20+ fillings in my adult teeth.
And on that note- Lauren you could problem answer this- how do we brush their teeth at this age? I have a Pigeon toothbrush that Ty will have a bit of a rub on, and I give him a face washer to chew after a meal (I've heard that helps), but what is the best way?
Jus- Nice to see you back :)
Nic- We do cow's milk twice a day here and Ty loves it..... drinks about 300 mls a day. Still bf first thing in the morning, last thing at night and twice overnight. Given up on the idea of weaning for the moment, seems like too much effort :D
Oh dear :help: Ty is either getting sick again or just teething real bad. Whinge, whinge, whinge since he woke up. To top it off, he slammed his finger in a drawer and it is red and swollen- ouch, poor baby. Musta hurt. Was planning to go to movies tonight with friends but dh working late so maybe not. Oh well.
And you should see the staus wars breaking out on FB between dh and his cousins over the ashes on Sunday. Crikey.
Off to swim lessons. BBL. :)
Teeth Brushing: In this house all the kids are given thier tooth brushes at the same time and then as they go to rinse thier mouthes we run the brush over them.. For Olivia she does it herself at first then we put her on our laps and sing a silly brush brush your teeth song.. Say ahhh say ahhh for thr back teeth (gums at the moment) say eeee say eeee for her front (and only) teeth..
Olivia slept well again last night but I didn't.. I just kept waking up so feel a little blergh today..
Missy only has about 10ml cows milk a day at this stage (just an approx) cus I don't measure it I just offer her some in a cup at meal times and she has a few sucks and thats it
I am feeling grumpy today. my house is a mess.. I cleaned it yesterday morning and now it is disgusting again.. everything feels so cluttered and I can't get on top of it (motivation is a big thing) Simon is going out exercising soon which just peeves me off cus I need a break from the boys. Sure he is only gone 2 hours but then he coems home and sits on the couch half asleep till Ethan gets home.. Then we have to go to the inlaws to put new brake pads on the car and are staying there for dinner. Which means I have to chase Olivia all over a non child proofed house till prob 8 tonight :(
Nic- Love the aaah aaaah eeee eeee teeth thing. I might have to start that morning and night with Ty I think... might do it while I brush my teeth.
Maybe you need FlyLady (I'm sure I've raved about her before). 15 minutes a day and all that jazz. The constant emails are either motivational (when your in the mood) or depressing (just make me feel guilty for sitting on my bum on the computer instead of getting things done).
Speaking of sittting on my bum... why do I waste valuable Ty-sleep time on the computer? I blame BB and FB ;)

I didn't know it was that bad for them, I guess I'll have to persevere with getting him to drink without the quik. I figured it wasn't that good for him but it was a way for me to get him to start drinking milk and slowly start to phase it out.

Aw Janine, sorry- didn't mean to make you feel stupid. We've all done stuff like that, trust me. And I know quite a few people who do this with no idea how bad it is for their teeth (I was actually thinking about giving Ty Milo til I read Lauren's post).

I have my scan yesterday. All is fine, bubs heartbeat was 161. Although I have big ovarian cyst apparently. My back is killing me atm I so don't know what to do about it.

Adkins please don't beat yourself up..I always gave my son milo in milk as a baby and he has perfect teeth.....So not all kids end up with fillings etc....My son is 9 now and no filling and only recently started loosing his baby teeth....
Girls...what is everyones take on immunisation. I have read so much info about the MMR which my DD is due to have and it really has worried me. Has anyones bubs had them yet? I believe that it is three needles?? I think I am going to make an appt with my Doctoer and discuss the option of having one at a time, but my DD is in Daycare two days a week so she must be immunised. I'm just wondering how long I can stretch it before they will make me have her immumised.
I want all views please!!
Kts: Olivia had her needles on the 24th and was fine.. She has reacted to all her needles bar this one.. (I think it was the rota virus one that made her tummy off)
she got a needle in each leg and one in her arm.. While I read a little on the pros and cons about vaccinations I am a big believer in them.. I don't know all the risks and choose not to read into it to much, For me if I can prevent them being sick with something then I will do that and thats what I think vacc's are for..
Janine: :hug: don't feel bad. I am sure Lauren didn't want to make ou feel that way/ I know if I was doing something that might cause issues later on I would hope someone would say something even though at the time i know I would feel terrible .
I personally don't give flavoured milk to Olivia but thats not to say she hasn't had some when we have been out and I have bought a choc milk cus she has.. I have relaxed a lot with Olivia in regrds to food. I am not stupid but I am not so anal either ;)
Anyways Olivia is now asleep on me.. she is a bit off today.. not sleeping as well as she does normally.. even with the Ac on I feel warm this afternoon. So maybe thats her problem. Or else she is picking up on my stress about going to the inlaws tonight
Lori - its pretty much like nic said, make it absolutey as fun as you can.
I started ash with a tooth brush the second he could hold something with a grip, he brushes his teeth with me every night and morning. Now he watches me he does the same actions and when im finished i do some more myself to actually get his teeth lol
Its sooo important i believe personally, they watch someone else to it too so they know theres nothing to it and its not all hard work.
Do it BEFORE they get tried and cranky at night time, otherwise theres no hope.
But just try to think of silly games and STICK to it everynight, keep a routine going so he knows what to expect!
Yes the face washer is better than nothing for those really struggling, but keep at the toothbrush - oh and definalty a must, a very small and very soft head only!! at this stage dont use a toothpaste untill there old enough to wash and spit!
Remembering to always praise them, more so as they get older, but its hard for them, so even if they just do a little, praise what they can do, and say maybe tomorrow we can try do it for a little longer etc, things like that. just dont make ANYTHING negative for them or say 'no your doing it wrong'.
- Dont feel like a bad mum, Im sure theres PLENTY of worse things out there. And sometimes you just need to do the silly things to learn not too next time LOL
Teena - im sure there are kids out there that do ok with milo, but would you want to risk it!?? The pain of fillings in a toddlers is just not worth the risk, and the flavours really dont benifit them at all.
Bekz - how did u get a cyst now?? i have PCOS and was very lucky to fall pregnant with ash. but they went away whilst pregnant.. are they doing anything with it or just leaving it to go on its own?
Well, i said no to the guy i have the interview with last night and went and saw my old boss and told him i would go back and he was sooo over the moon. it was great to see how happy he was, and i was pretty excited about it to. we get on soo well.
So hours arent set in stone as yet, but itll be full time from febish and part time durning jan as far as i know, which is great with me to slowly get back into it!
Better run, massive headache here.

kts - jake hasn't had his 1 yr vacs yet but i'm a big believer in them too. I feel that although 3 needles is a lot to have at once it is better to get them out of the way in one hit rather than drag them out over several doctors visits, that just my opinion

Well Jake and I had our first playgroup session this morning, he had a ball and we were made to feel quite welcome. Pity next week is the last one til the new school term... oh well!
Adkins - i decided the hours were too tough for ash. And a few things, like my car had to have full comp and he wanted proof ( i had to cancel it as i just couldnt afford it right now) , also a blood test and he would make me have immunizations if i wasnt covered for something - which is fair enough but NO one is allowed to force someone to a blood test, its a breech of privacy (not that i have anything to hide) And then the money was a little under what i expected.
My boss will pay heaven and earth to get me back, so ill tell him what i want and im happy with that LOL
Adkins - please don't feel bad or foolish :hug: Playgroup is fun and at this age, the babies are all on the move and interact well.

Buzzie - so glad that you can choose what you want to do work wise and that it will be good for you and Ash. Did you get your headaches checked out by the GP yet?
Nic - hope it went well with the in laws and you weren't running around too much. I get so grumpy with our apartment too. I tidy but somehow crap appears on all my nice clean surfaces. We are busting out of here.
kts - my FIL is an immunologist and Monique has all the immunisations.
Lori - wow, apple juice! That is unusual. Monique has jammed her fingers in two drawers so far and because we are renting we can't put holes in the drawers to put the locks on. She hasn't done it for a while thank goodness. I wish Monique would drink cows milk but I might start giving small amounts each day.
MoM - how funny your hubby popped on here. Your poor little DS allergic to lots of things. Wonder where AF is then? Good idea to water down the cows milk, might try that here.
Jus - Hi, glad to hear things are going well.
Monique ws a nightmare last night. She was up every hour crying except 6am and wanted to be cuddled to sleep or feed. Do you think it is time for me to move out of her room?
Nearly forgot - I got childcare for Monique today for January which means I will be returning to work until I go on mat leave again which will be good for our bank balance and will only be for 3.5 months. I have to go back full time so it will be torture for the first few weeks I imagine.

Its funny, my boss has gone through sooo many nurses and has been having a really rough year since i left, the nurse hes had for a month now, just said shes pregnant LOL poor thing he really cant get a break. So ill be helping her out from about 6months for her - if she lasts that long, gees i tell you wat, its gonna be so hard watching her get fatter and all go thru all that exciting stuff!! - Mind u shes 19 and very immature, thinks everythings going to be easy as pie HA - shes got a surprise coming. :p

Good morning everyone :) How are we all today? I snuck out to the movies last nigt with the girls from my mg and watched Australia. It was actually pretty good :) I'm a bit in love with Hugh Jackman now **sigh and fluttler eyelashes**
Lauren- How odd with the blood test. That would have ticked me right off, I wouldn't have taken the job either. Had to laugh and the girl you were talking about that is pregnant- I was 25 and still too immature, thought it would be all soooo easy.
Kellie- Ty was a nightmare last night too- I think maybe the humidity was making it hard for him to sleep?
Janine- Ty loves playgroup too :) I think it's so good for them at this age to get social and interact with other kids, teaches them skills they'll need like sharing and playing together. It's good to have a baby-chat with the other mums too.
Nic- How did the in-laws go?
kts- I'm a believer in immunisation too, as much as the risks scare me. I'm going to put Ty's off till January- only because his needles always seem to make him a bit off colour for the week or two after and I don't wan to have to deal with cranky baby over Xmas when we'll be so busy, ykwim?
Taking Ty to get his twelve month check today, and get his weight checked. I think they are supposed to be able to clap at 12 months but Ty just won't do it (not that I'm worried about that). I just think it's so funny- he watches us clap and opens his hands up and looks at them- then starts clenching his fingers like he's waving and looks confused lol. It's like he knows which body part to use but just can't quite figure it out- too cute :)

Last night wasn't too bad. Olivia was pretty good. still chased her but for once the house was spotless ;) Only one thing peeved me.. She smacked her again:/ but this time instead of staying silent I said "well that was a bit mean of you nanny. you made her cry" She replied I know.. I then said you only have to hold her hand and say no Olivia don't hit me please. She understands that better :lol: I then took Olivia and said come on lets go see what Daddy is doing
We got home about 7:30 but Olivia still slept unsettled.. Well I did.. She woke at 11 and came into our bed and I seemed to toss and turn all night then.. I think my tossing and turning kept waking her up to but I never left the bed again so it wasn't all bad.
I have been cleaning (really nitty gritty cleaning) since before 7. My fridge is so white now you need sunglasses when you open it.. bathroom 90% done. Kitchen looks bloomin lovely.. Dh fixing the vacuum ( didn't know there was anything wrong with it hahaha) Olivia has just gone down for a nap so I am sitting to eat my breakfast
Lori: I am not sure if I want to see that movie or not yet.. I am not a nicole kidman fan.. Glad you got out though.. That must be nice. Humidity is Olivias enemy. Bugger it, Ty is sick again. Woke up from his nap with gluggy grren stuff in his eyes. Took him to the dr and he has conjunctivitis (sp?) and a viral infection in his throat- apparentley he has ulcers in his throat, poor baby :(

buzzie - ta for info on milk/quik/milo. I was going to do that too if Ella wouldn't drink it, altho i just keep offering her some milk each day. sometimes she drinks it, sometimes not. It was encouraging to hear that it's the overall dairy not necessarily milk per se - can't recall if it was this thread or another... ella loves cheese & yoghurt. I'm like lori, not going to wean yet - just think it would upset baba! hoping she'll wean herself sometime by mid-year. hey adkins, don't feel bad - you prob weren't going to even give bub the stuff for that long anyhow. a friend of mine has done it for 3 years! We're all learning all the time :)
ta for teeth-brushing tips. will try them too, but have 'strong-willed baby of the year' at our house, so tho she sees me doing it & thinks its funny & has enjoyed playing with a t'brush for months, we're getting lots of mouth clamped shut!!! i'm sure she'll open up eventually he he he. after a couple of months she decided she would eat solids after all so that gives us hope!
immunisations. I've had big concerns about this, but now feeling much better. have spoken to a fab paediatrician who actually took me seriously and who was up to date on all the research, so gave me a good low down. no link between mmr / autism except for the prob in US cos of the carrier. it's not used in australia so ok. you can't have the MMR shots separately apparently (tho i'd thot you could), but I'm going to defer all of the shots a little & give them a couple of months apart so i'm not overloading her immune system. I'll do MMR last between 18-24 mo. I am totally pro immunisation for both ella & the community, but we've got autism in family so am a little nervous. no reason that mmr has to happen at 12 months, they just put all those immunisations together so people don't forget them. Hope this is useful info. guess everyone's gotta make their own choice!

hey tinsel, must be in the air - ella was up too, lost track of how many times ... maybe it's a 1 year thing.
