Hi all,
I decided it was time to join the fun! I've been following along a bit, but just haven't had time to post.
I had Kai on the 17th of December. I'm loving being a mummy despite the usual problems like wind and reflux. I'm just so in love with my little man. I still can't believe he is ours.
As I haven't really been around on BB for a while I look forward to getting to know you all and sharing this journey with you.

Nic - Do you like the angel monitor? I have just been out looking for monitors and it is a toss up between the angel or tommy tippe one. Do u find the angel too sensitive, as in are you getting up constantly?
I just got a hug a bub and can't wait ti whatch dvd to learn how tp use it.
Best go I have a mad house atm.
I wouldn't be without my monitor.. it can be sensitive if you have fans on but can be adjusted.. for us don't have te fan bloswing directly on her anyway.. ceiling fans are another matter, i think if you move the bed asway and adjust the sensitivity it should be ok!!
i have only got up once to an alarm and it was a low battery beep lol.. it used to go off with isaac but he was the reason we bought it due to him having breathing issues.. went off a couple times with jacb as he was sleeping so deeply and breathing so lightly.. but IMO they are worth every cent

Bek - I have the angel monitor too and love it.
Nic - Thinking healthy thoughts for that poor bub. When I get really down about my infection I just thank the stars that it wasn't Olivia that got sick, that would have been much worse.
Bubs is calling.
Nic - My surgeon thinks it will be another month before the wound closes and I no longer need the nurse visits. It is ages.
DH has just ducked out to get fish and chips for dinner and Olivia is sleeping. Oooh am on my own for a full half an hour...
Just a quick question, those using the infants friend - i finally got some today - how much are u using, it said 5 to 10 drops, i reckon thats a big difference so i started with 5, plus it says after each feed, if i did that Ash would habve 15 lots of drops a day LOL How is everyone using it???

Nic - I think I will go and order a monitor seeing that miss Loren only likes to sleep on her belly and in her cot in the nursery. After 5 wks of struggling to get Loren to sleep more than 2 hours overnight Loren slept for 5 hours and the bad thing is I did not even wake to check on her.
DH took Loren off me last night when I fell asleep standing up and I fell into the bassinet whilst patting Loren. I haven't had more than 3 hours sleep per night for the last week. DH ended up feeding her a formula feed and laying her on her tummy (we do this in the day time) and well my miss slept soundly. She also prefers her cot in the nursery to the bassinet in our room, therefore the monitor is necessary.

Lauren - I started Loren on 5 drops and she now has 10 drops before a feed (I usually only give it to her in the arvos and evenings) some times I will give her some in between feeds if I think she has wind.

Thanks for the healthy thoughts fir the baby. I am always so grateful my bubs are well. Even when Isaac was sick in SCN it wasn;t life threatening jus really scary
Lauren I started out with 5 drops and now we are up to 15 drops.. ps 10 drops is 0.5ml . measured it out for ease:
Completely understand. Olivia now sleeps full time on her tummy. Occasionally at night I will lay her on her side but she stirs so I just roll her over and she sleeps..:
I so hope you start getting some more sleep soon.. There is nothign worse then falling asleep standing up.. I can remember falling asleep on the toilet one night after I put Jacob back to bed after a feed LOL..

Alicia I would love to do a movie session soon too. Hoyts and Village don't have mum and bub sessions til school hols are over so we might have to trek to Vic Gardens? I need to visit Ikea anyway - haroula are you up for it? Who are our other Melbourne Mummas?
Nic that is a cool photo - I love the idea of so many kids :) Funny thing is I now look at family photos and see the work invovled as well as the "romance" IYKWIM!!
Bekz I am with you on being tired, only last night it was Flynn who was up for 3 hours moaning and carrying on :(

Bekz - I love the Angelcare monitor too - I couldn't be without it!! lol at you falling asleep while standing up & crashing into the bassinett - for some reason I find that insanely funny!! Hope you get some decent sleep soon though...
Buzzie - re: the Infants Friend - I use it 3-4 times a day, 10 drops at a time. I figure it can't hurt & Bronte seems to have been a bit better since I started it so.....

Don't ya hate when one sleeps and the other sooks.. Jacob fell asleep in the car when we ducked out to the shops before 7 last night so he was out like a light for the night..

BekZ - yep we were TTC buddies. I took a break from BB during my pregnancy, wasn't a pleasant one and being so sick just meant no time on the computer.
Buzzie - I give Kai 10 drops, but mostly at night. If he is windy and unsettled during the day I'll give it to him then too.
Morning all,
Lauren - I have been giving Livi 10 drops before each feed, I found it works better for her if she has it before hand.
Livi was so good last night. It took an hour to get her settled and asleep but then she slept from 11:30 til 6:15!!! If only I had. But no, on the night she decides to be really good I was up on the toilet at 3am and awake feeling sick. Hope I have just got a tummy bug.
Great sleeping Little Miss Olivia.. We had a good night here too 8:30 till 2 then 3 till 7:30 :)
I hope you just have a tummy bug too Alicia. Can you go see a Dr today just to make sure

lucky u too nic! i had a pretty good night with Ash, we didnt get up too many times and he managed to get most farts out without screaming yay!
The melb girls here are - Rory, Alica, Bron81, Haroula, AnnaT and me - As rory said mums and bub sessions arent on till feb, so if u guys want to organise something wenever its starts. Im not sure were in melb some of u are tho :)
Thats great all these bubs are starting to sleep better.. now for us mums of more then 1 how to get the older kids to sleep in when baby does **yawn**
i had to get up at 6 thanks to jacob and boy is he whiny now..
sigh why won't she wake up.. I know I know.. We soend all this time getting them to sleep and nw I want her to wake.. I am worried she is sleeping too much now :rolleyes: she slept so well last night and was asleep by 10:30 and it is now 2... stirring a lot though so it shouldn't be long...
Hmmm the nurse and surgeon (over the phone) think I am having a reaction to being on the strong antibiotics for so long. Apparently they can do that. So have to stop antibiotics for 24 hours and see if that helps. Got to admit am a bit paranoid about stopping them.
The weekend nurse that came today is 30 weeks pregnant so we had a good old chat about pregnancy and babies. Then turns out her husband and my husband know each other from work. Small world huh.
Nic I'm not sure you should be wishing her awake ;-)
I wish she hadn't woken.. she is not a happy little girl :( She woke fed spewed had a nappy change fed spewed and fell asleep but I can't do anything cus she cries if I put her down :( I hope she isn't getting sick.. she is sleeping an awful lot...

What is going on. I don't ever get them back this soon. Tehya was 10 months old before I got them back. GRRRRRRR. So not impressed with my body. DP isn't impressed either. LOL, he was planning a "night" for us. Oh well, atleast this is a legit excuse to get out of it. ;)
Abbey has had a shocker of a day. I ended up laying with her on my chest so she would get some decent sleep today. Everytime we put her to bed this morning she would wake up again. So come 2.30 I lay down with her for a while. She's on my lap now watching me type.
ugh Trish my sympathies.. mine starting making an appearance yesterday but has gone again...
i am having a seriously bad day :( the boys have been so naughty and now Olivia won't stop crying. I am trying to cook tea but olivia is so unsettled she won't me put her ddown.. I tried the sling but she screamed so loud and was not happy .. she is feeding at the moment but dinner cooking and i am eorried it will burn............ah sucks to be me today
Nic, I am heaing you huni. Abbey has been a right PITA. I have her laying over my legs atm, it's the only thing other than a boob in her mouth keeping her quiet.
Well I hope I am like you and AF disappears again. They say it's the night feeds that keeps the witch away. Well, I'm still feeding plenty overnight so I don't see how that is this time.
Well she finally settled enough for me to feed the boys and myself and get them bathed.. and she was still settled so I have just had a lovely shower myself.. I needed it after going to the (TMI toilet and discovered AF is sort of here again **sigh** I don't understand why I can't get a few more months break like most other women. I always get AF back within 4 weeks of my PP bleeding stopping but I am sure it hasn't been 4 weeks since I stopped all together.. At least it would explain why Olivia is out of sorts.. Maybe!!
and the boys have settled as well.. Gee today was total cr!p.. but Simon should be home soon and then the boys can go to bed in an hour and then start all over again tomorrow :rolleyes:
I have to admit Ethan has been so good this last hour. Maybe the fact I kinda yelled at them after keeping it in all day helped :) But while I finished dinner he sat with Olivia and talked to her and then when I went and showered he was still sitting next to her when i came out..
how are all the other bubs today? I must be the chattiest here :lol: or I don't have a life ha ha ha
Sofia has been really unsettled all day as well, she is still awake sitting on my lap, hopefully she will just dose off.

I am hearing you all on the unsettled ness Olivia has her times where I think gee what else can I do to settle you at times the routine just dosen't soothe her.. Tonight I had to let her cry like you Nic to get dinner finished before soon to be husband came home :D:D
I swear my eldest is trying to get himself in the pooh these days constantly pushing the bounderies and I am at breaking point with him, anyone got any good advice on how to deal with the constant back chatting, the why's when I have explained it to him a zillion time ......Oh and why he whinges and pulls the sad ****ed off face when told NO....
Oh and forgot annoys his sister on purpose knowing it will get me going???

Man I need to come and post more often my mind is blank but rest assured this the main preg forum I post in ...You all feel like close friends now :D:D We have shared so much....

I had a great night in the end.. Olivia slept from 9 pm till 3:30 **faints** and I went to bed at 10.. I
Teena, yes, if Olivia has thrush on her tongue, and generally it would be on the insides of her cheeks and lips too, you will get it on your nipples too. I do get msg's on my phone, just sometimes they are delayed.
Oh and no solution. My 16 and 13 year old's still like to torment the little ones when they are bored. And the endless sooking and crap from Tehya atm is driving me mad. She has turned into one very sooky little girl.
OMG Nic, what a sleep. I finally got Abbey down at 11 pm, this was after that many feeds, cuddles, a bath and massage. Finally I wrapped her tight and fed her up again. She went through until 4.30am, I went to bed at 12am. She was up a couple of times and is awake now hanging off the boob again.
So damn warm here. Ok not as hot as it's been in Melbourne, but still very warm. We stayed home and inside the whole day yesterday. DP wanted to drive to the beach but I didn't fancy an hour in the car, esp with Abbey in the mood she was in. Hoping for a better day today.
Having a much better day here today.. Isn;t it amazing how one bad day can send you spiralling downwards .. the boys are stilla little nutty but more bearable and Olivia is much more settled today and not even sleeping.. she is starting to make little tired noises now which suits me just fine cus I am amking Isaac and Jacob have a nap today so if Missy goes down now so will they yay,,, and I might nap i might not... who knows :)

I have the oppisite on my house at the moment. Isaac won't stop tormenting Ethan.. and for once Ethan doesn't just kash out and smack him he actually tells him to go away or walks away himself but Isaac just won't let up

Seems we are in another day like yesterday. Everytime I get Abbey to sleep she wakes unhappy not long later.
We have been invited down to a friends house but its 40 minutes drive away. I don't like our chances with the sooky one once again.
She's chaining me to the house lately. Buggar.
Hello again! Computer's free!
DH and Hannah are currently in the kitchen doing the washing up, so I get the computer, clean dishes, and a busy toddler! Sam's asleep too atm. Had a cranky morning, but after some awake time, a bath, and a massage he's settled in his bassinette. Last night wasn't too bad. Sam's current routine is three hourly feeds day and night, with a cluster of feeds in the evening before bed. I am just hoping for a longer night sleep soon. Can't complain though - I was up with Hannah 8 or 9 times a night until she was 5 months and we were booked into sleep school. Sam seems to be a much calmer bub (touch wood!).
Re: the infants friend discussion. I'm using infacol periodically (mostly once or twice at night when he seems to be the most windy). I couldn't decide between the infants friend or infacol, and the pharmacist recommended the infacol. I had heard that infants friend works better from some mums though. Has anyone had experience with both and can tell me which worked best for them?
Trish - I can totally relate to the sooky, clingy toddler. Hannah has become really whingy lately. I guess it is a big adjustment for them, but OMG it's annoying (especially when you're lacking sleep and patience)!
Nic - What a wonderful sleep! Fingers crossed she keeps that up for you!

Nic - I'm glad your having a better day. I marvel at you ladies who are handling multiples children at the moment. I don't know how you do it.
Trish - I know what you mean by an hour in the car with a sooky baby. Not my idea of fun either.
Juliette - I use both Infacol and Infants Friend. I was given the Infants Friend from my SIL and it works sometimes, but when Kai was having a particularly bad couple of days I went to the chemist and they suggested Infacol, which worked well to begin with. I still think it works well, but i'm not really sure whether its any better than INfants Friend. He still gets periods of bad wind and I can't settle him whether I use Infacol or Infants Friend.
Yep sure is a great day to be born. Though I slept through most of it. LOL
Well I'm not a very happy mummy. DP had a party to go to last night, so I invited my mum over to watch some DVDs, thinking that I could have a late night because I could sleep today. Kai slept from 9.30 to 1am (whoooo hooo) and normally i would have gone to bed then, but stayed up to watch the dvds. He then slept from 1.30 to 4.30 and he wouldn't go back down. He just screamed every time we'd put him down. So I basically laid on the couch with him on my chest from about 5.30 until he woke for another feed at 8. He has been up and down since then, though he's been asleep since 11 now.
So here is where I'm annoyed. I've had a total of maybe 4 hours of broken sleep and DP's mum rings up to say she's bringing his annoying nana over at 3. Smack bang in the middle of the afternoon. So there goes any chance of me having a sleep this afternoon. I don't know why he couldn't say no. And what annoys me even more is that I told him last night that I was looking forward to us having a lazy day together with no visitors. He knows i'm not happy so he's doing the washing and cleaning. Not going to make me any happier.
Oh and I was having a cry in the shower and he came and told me to stop crying! I'll cry if i want to. I'M TIRED!!!!!

Bron: Don't feel sorry for the vent.. Sheesh read back to my posts yesterday :lol: iwould be so annoyed if my Dh said yes to visitors when he knew I had a bad night. He has done it once but also said Nic and bub might be asleep though as they had a rough night :lol: The visitors came and sure enough we were asleep but that was ok Dh entertained them

I have a few jobs to do then I am sitting on my backside :) Ethan has a friend coming over for the night but they are old enough to entertain each other...
Bron - I hope you told your DP where to go when he told you to stop crying! My DH's favourite thing to say when I cry is "It's not that bad", well maybe sometimes it is, or feels like it is!
We had a good night here too (although not another record 7hours like the other night). Olivia went to sleep at 12 and woke at 5:30. Unfortunately she also half woke at 1:30 and just gurgled a bit and talked to herself but that woke me up (DH slept through it) so I lay there for half an hour waiting for her to cry and she didn't. Do all mums wake at the little noises or is it something you get used to?
Alicia, I wake if Abbey farts !! Seriously, if I have a little baby in my room I sleep through all other noises, but if she makes just one I am awake.
Bron, Hugs to you sweety. I don't blame you for being p!ssed at DH inviting people over when you aren't up to it. Perhaps you should have just gone to bed, either that or sit on your bum and do nothing for your guests and let DH wait on them. And if you want to cry so be it. We cry in the shower to get away from them, what don't men understand about that. It's my crying place too. Tell him it's better that you have a cry about it there on your own then screaming at him !!

What a hot day here we've had. So damn hot and sticky. It stormed this afternoon and has cooled down somewhat but it's still very humid.
Abbey slept for a little while this afternoon, and then we ended up just going to mum's house around 4ish. The kids played in the inflatable pool, in the rain !! And Abbey had a nice relaxing time giving nana a cuddle. Mummy also had a relaxing time not having to deal with a screaming baby for once.
DP is cooking dinner and Abbey is on the boob. I am the picture of a model mummy, having a glass of wine and breastfeeding ;) Oh well, atleast I haven't got a fag in my mouth too.
Alicia: Thats a nice sleep though isn't it.. I am so glad these bubba's are working it out. When we first had Ethan Dh had to wake me half the time to get up and feed him lol.. But I also went back to work when he was 5 weeks old and was exhausted... but now I hear every tiny little noise..
Trish: Isn't it nice when mum holds bub for a while :) It was hot and sticky here today too.. I turned the Ac on too late to do any good so I just turned it off again,
Olivia slept 12- 4:30 and has just gone back down now. I have had such a better day. Isaac is pushing my buttons though. I think he is shattered from lots of busy days latish nights and early mornings and it is all catching up to him now...
Well off to wander for a bit..
oh and Trish :lol: at the wine and booby.. I had a beer the other week well half a one and was feeding Olivia at the same time
I want a alcoholic drink as well
I feel like one right now.. grr. Jacob won't go to sleep and keeps crying out really loudly and I have just got Olivia back down again...
Trish I am all for wine and booby!! I was a teetotaller with Flynn but we have too much good wine going to waste for me to do that again! I am talking 1996 bottles of Henschke chardonay here!
Alicia I used to wake with every noise Flynn made but nowadays Ollie has to actualy cry for me to hear him (and as we all know, bubs actually start of making snorts and so on waaay before they cry ;))
Bron I hear you on the stolen sleep - I hate it when I plan a nap and then it is snatched away from me :(
My boss and his wife are coming over for wood-fired pizzas tonight - I am going to have the big "return to work" talk with him....wish me luck.
