I think I am the most tired I have been since having Liam today, and we didnt even have an extrodinarily bad night, I think the fact that I am only getting blocks of 21/2-3 hours sleep at a time is starting to catch up with me. After his 3am feed I was just so tired that DH got up and burped him for me.

Anyway gotta go battery about to die, BBL

I hear you girls!! She is just NOT settling this morning!! Now she's awake in her cradle, not asleep but settled!... When changing her she decided to fart and let out a few bits all over her clothes, AND the towel i had put on the mat! That lasted all of 1 day!! AND then decided to open the sprinkler and pee everywhere!! So i just gave her a bath and she's all moisturized and dressed! seems to have calmed her down a bit!..... arg! well i still haven't had a shower and we have planned to go to the shops today! So we will see how that goes! Hope we make it out there...! Might have a quick shower while she's quiet and get ready.... give her a bottle... express the boobs! and head out... ( for some reason she doesn't spew up as much if she has a bottle!?! don't ask me why!)

    see how we go!

Haroula: hope you got your shower and have fun at the shops.. Maybe Chrissie gets the milk slower from the bottle then from your boobies??

Bron: I did get some sleep thanks

Lisa: Hi and welcome.. Good to see you came over. I hope Lisa has had her bub now too. I was close to tears myself last night as I was just so exhausted , those nights suck don't they

Ali: I bet Liam starts sleeping in longer blocks for you Olivia did that when I got so tired from the night wake ups

Well Olivia finally fell asleep cuddled up in bed with me sometime after 5. Dh got home around 6:30 ( night shift) and he stayed up till after 8 with the kids ( I ha rung hm and he knew I was up late or early.... anyways i finally dragged nyself out of bed at 9.. and I have been listening to the little miss poop so hopefully we will have a much better day,... wops shes crying better go,,

Not sure.. I used to look at formula tins and see how much they were supposed to have there and offered that much and then had more on stand by if needed

Olivia pooed :yay: she is semi settled which is so nice.. I don't have her in my arms so she must be happy

    Hi again,
Wow this thread is moving fast!

Bron re the baby bonus thing i found it much easier to log on and do it over the net, they gave me my pin when i logged on there.

Haroula - not sure if its the same for breast milk but Jye is on formula (because he was early he was far too lazy to suck on the breast and kept falling asleep on me!) up to 1 month it says 120ml and then up to 2 months is 150ml

I ended up giving the parent helpline a call re Jye's screaming at night when trying to get him down (by the way they are great if you ever need some advice!) it seems he wasn't getting enough sleep during the day and was overtired, i have changed he's routine around to being up for 1 1/2 hrs then going down for a sleep for 2 1/2 and it seems to be working, he's been really good since. Not sure how it will work when we're not home all day but i've still got my appointment with CYH about sleep issues tomorrow so i'll talk to them about it then.

Sorry about the lack of personals but this thread is moving way to fast for me to keep up with you all, i can't seem to find the time to log on here as much as i used to!

haroula - Maybe she gets it a bit slower from the bottle. Because of Kai's colic the Dr asked that I slow his feeds down by taking him off and burping him a couple of times each side. Its seems to have helped with the wind issues and his reflux, he isn't vomiting as much. Maybe give that a go. Its all trail and error for us new mummies!

Nic - Yay on Olivia's poo! Its so nice when they do one, isn't it.

Boo - I can't keep Kai awake for more than 1 1/2 hours during the day. He gets too cranky and is harder to settle. I'm glad the help line helped. Its also good to know that they are so helpful (which of course they should be! )

Kai slept the longest that he's ever slept last night. We put him down at 7 after a bath and he slept until 12.00. Bummer of it was that I went to bed at 10. I should have gone at 7 lol. But after that he woke at 3 (i think he was thirsty more than hungry because he had a quick feed), then he woke at 5 and 7. But i'm still happy that his sleeping is getting longer. Just need him to sleep from 1 to 5, or 6 would be better. I'd be a lot happier if he slept until 6.

nic/boo - sounds about right.. i think last time i fed her a full feed from bottle she ate abotu 100ml... she would be up to 120ml now i'd think!

boo - i can relate to the over tired thing... Chrissie the other afternoon decided she didn't want an afternoon sleep.. well!! that made for an interesting night!!

bron - i have tried today taking her off the boob during a feed... but she aint happy about that! screams the house down!! i guess we just have to persist a bit until she gets a bit bigger and can handle the extra milk coming from the boob,.,?!?

kristie - will give it a go! hope your first check up went well!

    ohhh baby crying.....

Selfish post.. Olivia has slept ALL day!! She woke at 9 fed pooed and fell asleep while I was getting her bath ready, then she woke briefly at 1 and I fed her and she fell asleep again then she woke again at 1:30 and I fed her and while getting her bath ready at 2 she fell asleep again and hasn't been awake since.. I am scared about tonight she must be so exhausted after the last 3 days of screaming and yesterday was rough on her..

I have had such a great day.. pottering around the house, cruising on the net, and just chatting on the phone and not worrying about a screaming baby .. one bad thing Olivia is still in her jammies and has only had one nappy change today but she wasn't awake long enough to have anymore and I am not going to wake her as she obviously needs the sleep...

    off to upload new pics

    Hi Everyone!

I'm Bindy and my little Madeleine was due on NYE but I was induced on 2 January, hope I can join your thread because some of my closest pals from my Belly Buddies group are in here including Kristie, Ali, Haroula, Lara (Xtml) and Boo!

Well I'm enjoying motherhood very much, my little one is a real mummy's girl! She loves cuddles all the time and some days I find it really hard to settle her in her bassinette! She is daddy's girl too, he's in love with her so much too! He's doing everything for me ATM, food shopping, cleaning, washing, he's a godsend!

Maddie loves bath time and we've had poos in the bath already, which is really messy but she must be so relaxed!

I'm having some issues BF too. My boobies have been cracked since I was in hospital. I have been perservering but now my right one is so cracked that it makes me cry when I feed her! So I'm expressing off that one and feeding on my left (which is sore but not as sore). Never realised BF was such a big thing! I bought some formula today too just as back up.

Anyone else having problems BF'ing? Happy Mummy = Happy Baby I say! I think at the end of the day, you just have to do what's best for you both!

OMG, you girls can chat! Well, I finally have a few minutes to post here after a lovely easy cruisy day with my little boy!

Mummytotwo/Kristielee/Xtml/Boo/Bindy - Hello! It is so nice to see you all in here! I was wondering where some of you were but I know how busy everyone is. It's kinda like a little reunion. I hope Lisa will be joining us shortly.

Haroula - I've been keeping away from all soft drinks as I've heard is can cause wind in babies and whether or not it is true, I dont know but I dont want to tempt fate with extra gassiness. I've found that the Dettol handwsh is very good. I have some sitting on my kitchen sink and it sure gets a workout but I havent had any dry skin so it might worth you buying some? Fraser currently has about 60-80ml of breastmilk from a bottle and about the same of formula in alternate feeds as I'm still having trouble keeping up with his demand. The 60-80ml is quite short of the 120ml advised on the side of the formula tin but if he has any more than this he usually throws it back up. He has already put on almost 700g since birth so he is definitely getting what he needs so I'm not worrying too much about it.

Aussienic - My first two days flying solo went OK thanks but a LOT of crying and unsettledness. Today has been wonderful thanks to Infants Formula. He has been sleeping in 2 hour blocks all day and only waking for feeds. Today is the first day I've felt almost normal and been able to get lots done around the house. I even shaved my legs which I havent done since the day before he was born!! Funny what you count as a luxury once the little ones come along. Interesting about the salad. I've never heard that but I guess it makes sense with tomatoes being so high in acid.

Bron - I'm using Infants Formula (started yesterday afternoon) and swear by it already! I love it! Really helps with his sleeping in longer blocks and a lot easier to settle. I got a letter in the mail too asking me to either log on to Centrelink or call them to answer some questions. Apparantly I had a file with them under my maiden name back from when I applied for Youth Allowance (1996) which confused their system so I had to answer some additional questions. I thought I was in trouble with them!!! So yep, I had to call them too and give them heaps of info about our income, medicare details, etc.

Carrie - Poor Gabe with the Colic. Is that similar to Reflux? When Fraser had the wind I was hoping and praying that it wasnt Reflux/Colic. It breaks your heart to see them in pain like that huh?

Buzzie - Happy Birthday for Monday!! Glad all went well with Dad's visit. He sounds like he enjoyed it as much as you did!

Sue - I was wondering the same thing with the IF. There is nothing on the bottle which says how often you can give it to them. At the moment, I just give him the 10 drops as needed which is about twice a day (just before his 9am feed and another lot just before his 3pm feed). Funnily enough, the wind doesnt seem to bother him at night so he doesnt usually get any at night. I've heard that it is all natural so I dare say you cant really overdose them on it.

Well, today was very very good for us! It was almost like not even having a baby in the house. I just hope it doesnt mean I'll be up all night with him tonight. The last few nights were really good too sleeping in 3 hour blocks (mostly) and feeding quickly and easily settling back into his cot. I hope it stays like this. Maybe a little routine is forming???

I hope everyone has a good night and I'll try to get back in here tomorrow so I dont have another 6 pages to catch up on again.

    See ya for now!

Well I had my first outing (other than the shops) with both the kids on my own today. I went to visit a friend which was great, but it took me nearly an hour and a half to get ready.
I have been using Infants friend, usually only need it once a day maybe twice. I have found the thing that makes a BIG difference to Liam's sleeping is how tightly he is wrapped. If I wrap him nice and tight with his arms in well then he sleep for ages, if he isnt wrapped well or his arms ecape he wakes himself up.

Bindy- Sorry to hear that you are having BF probs, but I totally agree with you Happy mummy and happy baby go hand in hand. I have been very fortunate not to have any bf probs at all so far (touch wood)

Nic- I hope Olivia sleeps well for you tonight, just keep telling yourself that sleep promotes sleep, so hopefully she should sleep better tonight because she has slept well during the day.

Anyway I had better go and get something organised for dinner while all is quiet and peaceful

Bindy - you know i was at the beginning.. it is better now... it really has to do with how she latches on for me!

I bought a tin of formula today too... i hope i don't have to use it until she's at least 4 months old... but my priority is making sure she's well fed! I just have this fear that the evening feeds are increasing at a rate that maybe my boobies can't keep up! i feel much better knowing that i have it in the cupboard just in case as a back up!

DH was purely formula fed.. and there's nothing wrong with him!! In fact he's a bit of a smarty pants! LOL and doesn't get sick... maybe once a year! so i don't see what's wrong with formula.. you just make sure that YOU are happy and feeling positive about your choices!! It's not worth being in constant pain... if you aren't happy, bubs wont be either!! maybe alternate formula with breast.. like Dayl maybe.

Dayl - i have yet to have seen any increase or decrease in gassiness from what i eat.... am keeping an eye on it though..! WOW 700g!! You'll be up to the new size in clothes soon!!! hehe that's awesome!

nic - i'm so glad you have had a great day!!

Ali - glad you have a good trip out and about!! I'm sure with practice it wont take as long to get ready!!

We DID make it out to Highpoint today! LOL.... we get there finally, just before 12:30 and in the middle of Target my darling daughter decides she's hungry... and wants it NOW!~! LOL.... people were looking at me with these strange looks!.,..gee haven't they seen a hungry baby before!?!??? anyway, lucky i'm so relaxed...hehehe... so we paid for our goodies and headed for the parents room.. OUR FIRST TIME!! we ate and fell asleep beautifully... woohoo and mum could finish shopping!

Bought a digital ear thermometer for the little one and some disposable change mats to go over the change mat so i don't have to wash it every day! hehehe ohhh and a cute little outfit in 00 for later on.. Myer has some real cute Autumn stuff coming out!.... i'm so going to be out of control re shopping in a couple months!!!

Now we are asleep...waiting for daddy to come home... all in all a successful first trip out and about alone..!!

Hi ladies! I've been lurking for a while - my bub Euan is a November baby (28th) and I am in the November babies group but he is one of the youngest. It also seems that the older bubs in this thread are going through many of the same things at the same time as Euan is. (Eg, wind, wind and more wind).

So, would anyone mind if I join in the fun? I probably won't be as active as you guys - you move so fast - but I thought seeing that I've been lurking for a while I should come and say hi!

Bindy : Hi and welcome.. those poos in the bath are always a laugh aren't they? Olivia hasn't done it yet but I have had my fair share with the boys. I have been lucky the last 2 times regarding Bf but the first 2 not so great. I comp fed from 6 weeks and went full time formula at 3 months with Eth and with isaac i expressed full time till he was 10 months as he just wouldn't latch on.. and yes I totally agree with the happy mum = happy baby statement. If it isn't working then don't stress yourself.. Expressing is always an option if you want to give BM but formula isn't poison

Dayl: Glad your first couple days of going solo went well.. and yeh IF is great isn't it.. IF has a webiste about thier product as well.. I have one very sleepy baby today too so if I am up all night no doubt I will jump on here lol..

Ali: I am yet to go on an outing on my own with just Olivia or even just the boys. I did walk to a friends house just before Xmas and well that was a 5 min walk and the double pram I bought the wheel fell off it and we got eaten by mozzies and well I haven't attempted it again yet. I am glad your outing went well

I do agree that sleep promotes sleep thats why I didn't wake her as she obviously needed it and she gave us the most gorgeous smiles this afternoon too

Haroula: What a great day out. I am glad your little miss behaved don't you just love those looks I get them too and just look back ha ha.. You should see the look I got when I stood in the middle of the shop and fed olivia

suse: Of course you are welcome and yes wind seems to be the theme of thw week in here..

Well not long after I posted Olivia woke. I fed and finally got to change and bath her and boy was she one happy baby, you have no idea (or maybe you do) how nice it is to not have a screaming baby in your ear and to actually be enjoying her today. she is back in bed now tho so hopefully she does sleep well but if not then so be it. I am just happy she is happy to be honest..

Time for my little men to go to bed. Jacob has fallen asleep on daddy.. so adorable.. and the other 2 are playing in Ethans room..

OMG and I thought I could chat. You girls are soooo chatty. I guess we do have a lot of us in this group.

I'm not even going to try to catch up with personals, there are way too many.

Welcome to the newbies and your babies.

Nic, sounds like my day (umm not sure which one it was, this week) lol. Abbey has had a day of cat naps. I hope she doesn't think that will be her new thing.

I went and got her a new swing today. I had sold Tehya's one, but seeing as how Abbey seems to like motion, being rocked and walked with, and hates her bloody $130 rocker, I thought it was worth a try. I got her the Fisher Price Power plus swing. I like it cos I can plug it into the power point and not have to worry about batteries. Wasn't too badly priced. on sale at Target for $149 -save $80. Took me about 40 minutes to put it together today but Abbey seems to quite enjoy it. She even went to sleep in it. If it makes her sleep I will pay plenty more for it.

OK Mummy brag moment here. Noah and Tehya both go to swimming lessons, Tehya since she was a baby. She's done her swim survival class - where she has to fall in the pool, face first, fully clothed, get onto her back and float for 15 minutes. And is now doing proper lessons.
Today, our first lesson back after xmas and Tehya has improved so much she is off her back bubble altogether. She is swimming properly. She does her arms great and kicks like a trooper.

Think I have my little olympian in the making. DP can do the 4 am swims though

Bindy, try to let your nipples dry int he fresh air. When you are finished a feed express out a little milk and let it air dry on your nipples. It has a great healing properties in breastmilk. Also, even though you are still getting used to breastfeeding and this is your first time at doing it, and it's not really recommended in the first weeks of breastfeeding, go grab yourself some nipple shields. They will help to protect your nipples while still feeding. Try if you can not to use them at every feed, as you may then have the issue that I had with Abbey where she wouldn't latch on to my nipple alone. I have breastfed all of my babies and while I'm not going to preach we all know the benefits. I think having the formula in the house makes you more likely to cave and use it. Of course if that's what you want to do then go for it. But if you want to keep up a successful breastfeeding relationship with bub I wouldn't go there. I had a heap of issues with Abbey and feeding in the early days. To the point where her Paed told me I was starving her !! I worked through all of this and I truelly believe it's because I believe in myself and my ability to bf my baby.

Hope I didn't step over the line there hun. I get very passionate in trying to help others when it comes to breastfeeding.
