    Hi all

EJ, I bought my sister's Christmas present on Etsy last year... just went back for a look as well as madeit. For the sake of my bank balance I should avoid them both for awhile! I'm not signing up to it officially, but I'm having a crack at "buy nothing new month" in October. So no new nappies, baby-proof necklaces, or cute clothes for Millie for a whole month!!! (I'll try, anyway!) $25 for 5 patterns is a great deal though.

We tried to go gradually with the wrap - unzipped it halfway etc but it wasn't going well. One week I forgot to pack it in her daycare bag so they used muslin wraps, which she was able to get out of but still slept okay. Then the weekend Millie had conjunctivitis we were putting her in a fresh wrap after every sleep as she kept rubbing her mucky eyes and she only has two wrap-me-ups in the large size so we kept those for nights and put her in stretchy flat wraps during the day. In the wrap-me-up, she was rolling herself onto her tummy after 45 mins and then waking up and struggling... so in the end I just ditched it for an afternoon sleep and hoped for the best. She rolled over after about 45 minutes... and resettled and slept for another 45mins. Tried it again that night and tah-dah! she now sleeps unwrapped. Huge relief - she had such a strong sleep association with the wrap that I didn't know how she'd go without it.

MadB, when are you off on your trip? I hope the preparations are going well. As DH reminded me when I was a bit frantic before we went away, we could always get what we needed where we were going. My big issue was Millie's bottles and feeding - breast feeding would have been sooooo much easier (obviously!) so that's one great thing for you.
Something is better than the ergo?! Woah!

Oh Georgi, I'm so sorry you've got sick little ones again. I hope they recover soon. Gee you're good getting to the gym. I haven't been in weeks!

We're doing okay. Millie has just got over a cold and is her normal sparky self again, crawling everywhere and getting into everything. She's making friends with the cat, which is very sweet. I have a voice again now, but a niggly cough and a very swollen gland in my throat which I'm ignoring in the hope that it will go away. DH has had a cold for a couple of days and of course he's dying of the man flu. Riiiiight. I've put Millie in daycare while I'm on holidays - we have to pay for it anyway and I've been able to do fun stuff (not) like go to the dentist and optometrist. Also got a mani and pedi today, whoohoo! Haven't done that since the day before Millie was born

    Thinking of you all

I'm picking up my first wrap tomorrow. Have to practice practice practice first - might be a while before I'm confident to do it out and about without a 'spotter' (I can do it in front of the bed at home, so she doesn't have far to fall)
But yes, for back carries, even when I hadn't tied it very well, it was soooo much more comfy. I'd rate it an 8.5 for comfort (compared to walking around with nothing on my back), versus maybe 6 for the ergo.

I want to do buy nothing month, but it'll be hard on holiday. Will see how we go.

can't believe that second top tooth STILL hasn't come through.

Sorry to hear the boys aren't well Georgi. Hope they're well again soon.
    BOO to man flu.

    Hi all!

Oh Cathie, congratulations, and happy birthday to your little ones! The 30th was my gorgeous nephew's 12th birthday - a good day for lovely young people

MadB, when are you heading off? The wrap sounds good - is it like this? A friend of mine is of Peruvian heritage and is considering something like it for her Jellybean, due in January.

All's good here, Millie is a totally different baby to the one I had two weeks ago. Still her beautiful self, but developing so fast. She's getting really good with self-feeding now, demolished an avocado and cream cheese sandwich at lunch today and actually let me know the cat wanted to come in! I was preparing dinner and she was in her highchair, facing the back door, which I couldn't see. She said "Mumumum" so I looked up, then pointed and said "cat!" Sure enough, there was Tink waiting to be let in...

Actually the cat turned 14 today. We sang her Happy Birthday, but no cake... she's on a diet and horribly lactose intolerant

I'm still bloody sick. My upper respiratory tract appears to be hosting a leper colony or something. I would like to go a couple of days without tissues, lozenges and ventolin, please!!

    Hope you're all well!

    Hi guys
have a second while kids distracted
It's a bit like that, yeah. I've put a pic on facebook if you get on. That really sucks abuot being so sick still

Happy Birthday to the twins! I've been meaning to ask Cathie, do you all fit on one medicare cared (just a random question)?

    We're off Thursday morning.

That 2nd top tooth still isn't through. But the 2nd along on the other side is cutting now. she was horribly constipated on the weekend after being quite good for a coupel of weeks. used some glycerin suppositories to get that going and some coloxyl in her water to keep it soft. poor thing. will try even harder to wind back the food to fruit & veg I think.

    must dash.

EJ - hows the new overlocker going?? Have you had a chance to have play yet? Hope the weekend with the kids went well. Hope to see you on fb again soon, missing seeing pics of your gorgeous little ones.

PP - That's the exact reason I don't get on my laptop much!! Thank god for facebook on phones Jacob sees my laptop out and he smashes on the keys and pulls on the cord and I end up having to put it away!! Thanks for the heads up on the allergic reaction, I often worry about DH, I make sure we always carry his epi pen with us wherever we go. Glad you got through your reaction ok, sounds scary! I love the latest videos of Millie on the move, what a little sweetie! She is way too cute.

MadB - You did a great job on the wrap! Thanks for sharing the info on the cot. Our little ones are similar...both want their mummies close by. If Jacob wakes and I'm not there he's not impressed...it's like I've left him forever. Oh well, I just think of all the extra snuggles I'm getting and it's hard to complain about that!! You must leave soon for your trip? Hope the packing is going well, bet you're getting excited!

Georgi - Welcome back!! Sorry to hear the boys aren't well. Are they doing better now? Hope your internet behaves for you!

Cathie! Hope the twins had a great birthday!

Hope everyone else is doing well. Jacob and I are doing ok, minus the sleep....still teething, I can't believe it's still not through, I can see it clearly but it's just not cutting....so annoying! As you've probably read on FB, Jacob was ten months old yesterday and he took his first two steps...we were just playing around and he took off, I couldn't believe it.

    Take care xoxo

#*&% Facebook i feel terrible about missing all those milestones and special moments. Something isn't right with it, i had my original account that i had for ages and then you may remember i started up another because i thought i was having issues with logging in and posting and all that stuff. So the next kirstie one was fine and then i got rid of it because of the statement i needed to make. I then set up an EJ one which seemed to be all good but once i was logged out i could never sign back in again. I since tried to make another one with my original email address (it takes two weeks for them to officially close your account completely) and the same happened, i made the account but as soon as i logged out i couldn't log back in again. I'm wondering if they are suspicious of me because of doing this but i have no way of contacting facebook to even try and explain myself. Nothing works!!!!! So i do hate not being able to keep in touch with you guys with photos and little convos that way. I hope it all passes soon.

MadB enjoy your trip away, i wish i could see the wrap

PP thanks for the tips on the sleeping bag, i've never used one of these bags before and they are a bit different to wean from than a sheet wrap. I added a few 'favourites' to my etsy account. I've trying to be very restrained also, not hard when there is no $$ to spend anyway

Cathie Happy Birthday to your gorgeous twins!!! I bet there was some excitement in the house that day Hope Charlie boy is well.

Cathie i hope the germs are gone for good soon. Have you had a chance to sew yet?

Jules did you decide to move the cot? I konw the need for the closeness can be a little overwhelming at times but it really is for such a short time in the long run. I always put myself in their little mind and see how i would feel in similar situations and then think about the mother i want to be for them to know the right choice for me. Have you received your book yet? How's your little man apart from those nasty teeth? Anymore walking happening? I was talking to a lady i worked with this week and her son walked at 7 months!!!!!

Hello to all our other lovely ladies. Miss Charlotte how is married life treating you???

Things are good here, school holidays has been really quite nice, we had swimming last week which i think i may have mentioned, it was great and Aidan was so worn out by friday the only bad thing about last week was the rain. This week has been much nicer and we have play dates on nearly every day. I would love to have facebook to show you what i have been making lately. I've been sewing some bibs which are turning out really nicely and i have made the first dress out of the patterns i bought last week. I was so easy and i'm starting to be a bit more happy with my sewing standard, i think i'm almost at the point that i would sell some things to friends and family. I don't know if i could ever sell like the do on Etsy and Madeit though. I have made Harper two quilts and would now like to make one for the boys each.

Harper is great, down to two wakes a night at around 1am and 5am, this week anyway.... She has figured out the split level steps in our house which is a bit clever. I know i asked a little while ago but how many breastfeeds are we at now? I wonder what is the minimal amount they can have at this age?

Better go need to be out of here by 11am.

    Talk soon girls

    Hi all!

Jules, hope Jacob's tooth makes an appearance soon! It's such a pest when they take their time. Millie doesn't have many outwards signs of teething, as she has always been a massive drooler and doesn't get the pink cheeks, but whenever I try to check for any bumps, she bites me with her two sharp little fangs!!! He's such a clever boy walking already!

EJ, sounds like things are humming along well, apart from the fb thing! I have been sewing a bit too, got my challenge quilt back from being professionally quilted and I'm sooooo happy with it. Sewed the bindings on it yesterday and now need to hand stitch them closed - that's about 10.5m of hand stitching!!!! Also started making Millie a dress - it's a simple pattern and such pretty fabric - I bought it on a whim when I was still pregnant - it has babushkas on it and I figured even if we had a boy I could make something for myself! I will have it ready well before her first birthday, so it can be her party dress I've had 2 ergo-wearing friends ask to buy the suck pads I made!!! DH reckons I should start up a business, but I'm like you - happy to make for people I know but would feel pretty funny about selling to strangers.

MadB, hope your travels are going well!

Sleeping has been a bit of a joke here since about Thursday. Millie is fighting her day sleeps hard, and until yesterday I was just grateful she was sleeping okay overnight... ha ha ha, more fool me, she woke EVERY hour between 8pm and 3am last night. She fought this morning's sleep and I actually drove to the local baby store and bought a sleeping bag (one with no arms) in the hope that it would stop her crawling and pulling herself up in her cot at least... and she fell asleep on the way home (it's only a 4 minute drive!). She actually transferred okay and is still sleeping. Have left the sleeping bag in the package, I'm hoping we won't need it but it's there if we get desperate.

On the plus side, I'm finally well! Just in time to go back to work tomorrow

Thinking of you all, hoping you're all really well!

Thats MRS Charlotte to you, EJ!!!
Sorry I haven't been posting in here. I've been exhausted!! Hannah was being an angel after coming back from TAS but she's being the opposite at the moment.
She had 1 sleep yesterday, a 4 hour sleep, tho. And went to bed, but yelled (she's not crying, just yelling) for about half an hour. She was finally quiet and DH went in to check on her and she'd turned herself completely upside-down, and still completely wrapped. Not sure how she did it. He turned her around but she didn't wake up.
She's just being so not-Hannah lately. It may be a wonder-week. Or, her teeth could be moving again. Please, not more teeth!! We've already got 6!!
She had her physio appt last week, I had to get my Dad to take me as I don't drive (yet!) and DH was really sick.
Hannah's commando crawling, and physio wants to see her standing soon. She's still so tiny! She's only just hit 7kg!!
So, that also means that she's got another 1-2kg to gain before we can turn her carseat around. She's always craning her head around to look at us, and trying to sit up in her seat. And she's so long that her legs are bent when she's in it.

    Anyway, she's up.

    Hi all!

Just a quick hello while I'm on the laptop for once. Millie has a horrible cough at the moment and is on Ventolin syrup Boo. Seems to be working though so I'll just suck it up and refuse to believe that she's following in my (asthmatic) footsteps. Back at work this week, it just seems even more crazy than last term. Hard to believe that this time last year I was heaving myself around the school grounds, struggling towards mat leave...

I hope you're all well! Thinking of you xox

I keep meaning to post in here. Only got a minute as laptop is about to go flat
Things are going OK with us, DH is off today for work and will *hopefully* be back on Friday night.
Hannah had a cough and we took her to the hospital and they said throat infection. Went to GP the next day and he said her throat was fine. It's pneumonia.
So she's been on antibiotics and has improved alot, due to her being prem she had another check up because if she didn't improve in 48 hours she would have been hospitalised. So, that was really scary.

Will be back as soon as I can for more updates. Been forgetting so badly lately (not pg!!)

Hi all! Boy it's quiet in here these days. Thinking of you all!

Took Millie back to our usual GP on Monday as her cough was still pretty bad and I just wanted her opinion on what the weekend medical centre GP said. She prescribed antibiotics, asked me to take Millie off the Ventolin syrup (at this, I just about cheered)... and then asked me to go back to the puffer, spacer and mask, four puffs four hourly... and gave me a referral to get her assessed for asthma. My heart sank. I know it's manageable, I know it's not a death sentence, but I have lived with the PITA that is asthma all my life and I DON'T want my little girl to have to live with it too. She said it's not urgent as the seasons are more favourable now and they tend not to diagnose very young now, but she's showing all the signs I did as a baby. Fingers crossed she isn't asthmatic, that it's just the bug she has. She is very wheezy though, poor bub.

Work is mad, I'm ready to take down a couple of revolting teenaged boys right now. Thank God I only have that class twice a week. Heading out to my parents place tomorrow, hoping the five hour drive won't be too taxing for Millie. I know that sounds silly given the 24 hour plane ride to Germany... but you can pick a baby up in a plane. Not so much in a car.

Hm, I've been a bit of a whinger here today, sorry. Bright side... 2nd wedding anniversary on Monday, DH's birthday today, spring has finally sprung, Milllie is doing well apart from the bug. Life's good, just a couple of little things hacking me off.

Thinking of you all, hope you're well xox

Well, not much to add here. Hannah is all better and officially sleeping unswaddled!! It was a rough couple of days, but I'm so happy!!
    Hope Millie is OK

Also another reason to be happy. I just got a !!!
Please keep it quiet on FB, as I'm not telling anyone til Christmas Day and I haven't told DH yet.
Had to tell you lovely ladies!! Sitting here, it's pouring outside and I'm so excited, but can't tell anyone!!

Woo hoo Charlotte!!!!! I hope this little ones decides to stick and grow into another gorgeous bubba for you guys. Relax and look after yourself xoxo

All is good hear i just don't turn the computer on a whole lot. Harper Barper is great, i'm not ready to have a 12 month old though She's still commando crawling everywhere and still no teeth. Starting to use her legs a little more though and very caustiously pulls herself up on a few things. She's in her element playing with the boys. Sleeps been a little crappy as i went away the other weekend and as beautiful and relaxing as it was it kind of screwed up our routine and we're still not quite settled back to what we were. And then with her being such a mummies girl we had a 40th on Satuday night and had to take her with us. She was great though and not a problem at all but i wish i could have confidently left her with someone for a few hours to have a night out. Anyway that's not an issue really.

Hows the sleeping and asthma going PP?? I hope things settle down and if Millie has any asthma at all it's very mild. How's work and those revolting boys?? Good luck with the teenages Happy 2nd Wedding anniversary xox

    Cathie 2 medicare cards!!!!

Miss seeing you all on facebook but i dont' think i'll get back on. I tried making another account, with another email and i used DH's birthdate and it works but as soon as i log out i can't get back in. I think they are not allowing me now becuse all of the different accounts i've tried to set up to have 1 that works. I think 've been banned I think i best just give up

Will try and keep in touch here more often i just dont' turn the computer on very often. I hope everyone is happy and well xoxox
