Ellie- Is she looking for more after you finish from the one side? See what the LC says tomor.
AJP- Sounds like is needed, what time will your DH get back? I hope you're not having too many bedtime dramas.
OP- Sounds like Isabel is settling nicely. I hope Em starts to settle better at night.
Holly- Hopefully you'll get good mums group, just remember they are all in same boat, be good to chat to each other about your worries and things. I still see my mums group and they're all 2.5 now.
Ali- Being a mum can be quite overwhelming, esp for first time, just take each day as it comes and try not to stress over things (yes easier said than done sometimes!)
Nai- Maybe she having some kind growth spurt? I know Ash always used to sleep so much more when she did.
Det- From what I've heard to have it done without GA it has to be done in first couple weeks I think it is, otherwise you have to wait til they're old enuff for GA. I knpw I've seen ads in Melbourne Child advertising. Does DH know anyone in the Jewish community to ask?
Ali- My boobs took few days to settle, was horrible I could feel lumps all way up near my neck thats how engorged they got, had me worried and in tears but did settle. I think someone mentioned about having both sides bra open when you feed, that helped me that way the other side drained abit and made things more comfortable. Like AJP said they love to suck, sometimes they get in these cluster feeds cause its so comforting to them. I ended up giving Em a dummy when I needed a break from it.
Tarkine- How are things going for you today? You have an ok night?
I still have to sort out the medicare, the start of the form had something about calling or doing something on the net before completing the form and that got me all confused. Better get onto it on Mon.
Shell, I just rang the Family Assistance Office and did it over the phone and they were really helpful. It didn't take long either so give them a call on Monday. Just make sure you have sent in your birth registration papers before you call (or at least have them filled out and ready to send) as they need your to have sent them before they take your details. Then you need to take the form into a medicare office.
Thanks Nai, just got her birth certificate sent Fri so all set there. I'll call mon, should get organised with it all, reminds me too gotta add her to our private insurance.
Standard Isabel night here last night - unsettled around 4-7pm, went for a snooze around 7.30pm for about an hour, screamed for an hour, I fed her, she slept for an hour, then screamed again, finally got her down at about 11pm and she slept til 4am. That part was lovely!
It did take a bit longer than normal to settle her at the 4am feed... but when she finally went back to sleep she slept til almost 8am.
And it was the first night that I didn't wake up with weird dreams about feeding DD in bed and then going to sleep and forgetting about her... anyone else had weird dreams??
WRT the Medicare stuff... We sent off the birth registration off a while ago, like maybe two weeks? Haven't gotten anything back yet. How long did it take everyone else? The Medicare form, we filled in the form online to get the claim number and sent it off just last week. How long should it take to process??
AJP - how good is the rain?? Woot.
Ali - you are doing really well. Its so hard, I know, I was just talking to DH about it - about not knowing what's wrong and how to fix it. Sometimes its just easier to stick them on the boob! You're going great!
Hi to everyone else!! Isabel needs a feed so bbl...
Holly- Good luck, take some deep breaths and see how it goes. Maybe try when he is not so hungry cause I find attaching when they are flinging their head around alot harder.
OP- Our birth certificate took just over week to come back. I don't think I have any dreams, well that I remember anyway just way too tired!
hey girls
typing with my little man zzz on my shoulder- soo cute
medicare etc- got the form from hossy- it had to be signed and stamped by OB and hossy. Filled it out and took it to medicare office a week after he was born. Filled in birth certificate forms at same time. Also had to ring family assistance to update my details- it was easy as i am allready a 'customer'. Got first payment from baby bonus last week $384 buck approx. Got medicare card 10 days after lodging and birth certificate around the same time. By going into medicare to lodge it they gave me a temp card so i had something if i needed it. A woman from our health insurance came into the hossy and signed levi up- got the card about 3 week later- so with all that- he is officially ours and registered!!
love family assistance office- now get extra $160 for having a 3rd child and also get a larger family payment- WTF- 3 Kids is considered a big family- i will take it! It pays to reproduce in oz!!!
DH off all day/nite at the concert- so just me and the kids today- going to the shops now - get out or get claustraphobic! LOL
Levi sleeping pretty good - fed at 12.45, 3.45 and 6.45 and then again at 8.30. sounds like alot to be waken but hey after the twins this is pretty cool!!!! My twins were insane. Fed 3 hourly around the clock- it would take me over an 90 mins to feed them, around 45 mins to express for next feed and the had 75 mins till next feed! and that was till they were 6 months old!!!!
It does get easier girls the sleep depriviation!!! It just such a shock to your body to start with- lol i can function quite normally now on 2 hours sleep - scary!!!
My best tips for handling the sleep deprivation is to ensure that you have a really good mulit-vitamin, drink heaps of water and ummm chocolate!!!! No seriously keep your sugar levels as good as they could be- sugar levels all over the place on top of tiredness are a receipe for a disaster!!! Keep plenty of healthy snacks in the cupboard so you can quickly grab them on the run!!!
Still haven't put him down except the 1/2 hr drive to the MIl house.. ended up cosleeping last night - gave up at 12 trying get him to settle gotta go he's complaining again!
Tarkine- Do you have a sling or something you could put him in in the day? Will help settle him as well as allow you to do things. Maybe too you could hire hammock, we're thinking about hiring one, meant to be great for unsettled bubs.
Holly- Yay on the feeding! Glad it went well, should boost your confidence too each time.
My Df too is out sleeping in spare room and bubs is in with me, so much easier cause I don't have to get up then to feed/ settle and Df gets a good night sleep so he can do all the cooking/ cleaning- thats the deal we have while I'm up at night.
Melb meet sounds great all the bubs can cry and cluster feed together, lol.
I wish miss Em would go to sleep so I can try have early night, wanted to watch sound relief tho wish I could've gone.
Tarkine, I second the sling - I have a Hug-a-Bub and J slept in it on me for 2 hours yesterday.
I have found that J is not only windy but also quite chucky Often I will pick her up, she will do a burp and a vomit and then be ok - it's not usually very much. I don't think it's reflux as she is pretty happy about it all but she does seem to vomit more than G ever did. I am constantly walking around with a cloth nappy over my shoulder which isn't a good look.
Tarkine, definitely get a sling/carrier! We have a hug a bub and Leon loves it. He just loves to be held close and it allows you to keep getting things done.
Shell, my DP is sleeping upstairs while I'm downstairs. He's no help to me anyway...we tried sleeping all together so he could help me but he sleeps through everything and is so disoriented when I wake him up for help. He'll be like "what, huh, where?" I ask him to get me some warm water and he goes rummaging through Leon's drawers... Also he starts work at 4am so I don't need him waking me up (although most often than not I'm already up!) Hope Em is falling asleep as I type this!
Okay while Leon is sleeping I'm really going to try and get some shut eye.
Hello my name is Odette and I am a Sound Relief Concert Widow - lol
DH went to the concert today - some boy time!! He never goes out to have time for himself so was wrapped that he did- but man the twins are doing my head in tonite!!!!
Levi has been a dream and was asleep in his cot at 7.30pm - dont ask me how??? Maybe he had enough of the twins are well.
They have both been smart a*ses with their mouths- fair ****um they are lucky their heads are still on their shoulders tonite!! Sent them to bed at 7.30pm for being rude and naughty and THEY ARE STILL AWAKE!!!!
If i was a big drinker, i would've hit the bottle by now- grrrrr! ah well a cup of tea will have to do!
I was gonna ask you girls where to get cloth breast pads from, but you girls answered my question- so maz is the woman!!! My boobs leak like sprinklers and i manage to fully soak and kill 2 breast pads every 12 hours!!! I bought a box today and nearly freaked $8 for 30!!! Had been given the other packets that i had- If my boobs wernt so big to start with, I would stick tissues there instead!!!
Cool that you girls are up for a meet. Do you want to wait till hte little ones are a bit bigger or soon? Only thing is if we wait longer the weather might start to get colder- but hey who knows in melb. Any ideas where a central place would be. I'm in the north-east suburbs-but happy to go where its central - any ideas???
back to concert watching . .. and listening to the twins still GRRRRRRR
thanks shell no dramas tonight at all, not a peep out of sophie got her asleep and millie woke, fed and went straight back down. then had a call from MIL but might leave that conversation for a vent thread! DH home late!!
AJP - i am glad you got the kids down alright tonight.
Holly - if you can get into a good Mothers Group, they are invaluable. I still see my MG from when I had J, although I moved 40 mins away, so I don't see them weekly any more. As I now live in a country town, the MCHN asked me if I wanted to join a MG for second time mums that are new to the area. So I start next week. I am really looking forward to it.
Nai - i wouldn't worry about it. She will be awake soon enough.
Det- J was not circ'd so I don't know anything about it, but you could start a thread to find out. I am sure that there wil lbe many people on BB that could help you out.
Ellie - Good weight gain!
Kim - great to "see" you in here.
Well as we wish weight gain on our bubs, we are wishing weight loss on ourselves! I dropped J at MIL's. He was very happy to see her. She just sent me an sms to say that he is tucked up nice and asleep.
Shell -0 I had to laugh at your comment about pullingup your jeans. I am the same at the moment. I can't imagine that you would be really large though, as when I saw you last year you looked great! For any of you girls on Facebiik, I have put some of E and J on there. My cousin is a childrens photographer, and took some really candid pics. she is in Vic if any of you Vic girls are interested. Oh - and if anyone wants my facebook details, PM me and I will give you my details.
