Yep - Laura keep draining the milk out of the sore breast first. The shower should help too. Mastitis usually has flu like symptoms - hot and cold sweats etc. so it is probably blocked ducts at the moment.

AJP - I haven't had nipple thrush before - how can you tell if you have it?

I had a reasonable night last night - feed at 10.30pm, 3am, 6.15am and sleep in between so I am feeling better than yesterday. DD2 got her chart made up yesterday and we got her off to CC with hair brushed, teeth brushed and clothes on with no tantrums. Let's see if it works for bath and bed tonight

Also (sorry TMI) is anyone else still bleeding? I'm still getting small amounts each day and a bit more each time I BF. I know it's just my uterus contracting but I'm sure it had stopped by now last time and not sure how long it is meant to go on for

Terrible night here last night. Basically up since 3am. Also I am starting to feel anxious again, I am worried I will end up with PND like last time. Deep breaths.... Probably anxious coz I am tired.
    off to playgroup now

Laura - Hope you don't have mastitis...but get on the antibiotics if you do...can make you very sick!

AJP - Hope the burning settles.

Meggie - I am so impressed that you are going out! I'm happy to just have a shower and get out of the pj's...you are amazing!

Well I lost it last night...so damn tired...ended up going to bed and DH did everything last night...just bought Anika to me when she needed a feed...bless him! He's totally stuffed today but now realises how full on it is. Feel like I could sleep for a week and still be tired...and my right boobie is about to explode lol! Sitting here with the ice pack on...ahhhhh....relief! And my c section scar is really sore...think it's because Miss A is getting chunkier...and lugging her around a bit too much. Sorry for the vent...seems like we're all dealing with similar stuff which is comforting

Meg- I know being sleep deprived wouldn't help the anxiety at all. Plus worrying about getting PND again prolly will also make you that little more anxious. Take one day at a time, does J have day sleeps still so you can rest?

AJP- Hope you sort out the thrush soon, Has Millie got it in her mouth also?

Nai- Yep still bleeding, mainly after feeding but its not fully just blood its more a watery type blood. yay on dummy working, Ash never took one but I thought this child I need to get to take cause I just can't have her on the boob constantly.

Laura- Don't know about the mastitis but sounds like the girls have given some good advice. Hope you get it sorted.

Ellie- How is everything going today? Did she settle at a reasonable hour last night? ETA: we posted same time, hope you got some sleep, sounds like hugs in order! How does she sleep in the day? Try sleep when she does.

Tarkine- yep stuff him in the carrier! I find Em falls asleep the best when being carried and helps you able to do things still.

Em had her 2 week MCHN appt today, silly me thought was 9am but was actually 9:30 so had to wait around. Anyways she has put on an average of 32 grams a day which nurse was happy with. All looking good so at least I know she is feeding well.

Ellie - Sounds like we are feeling the same atm. I am trying to take Det's approach. It is a phase and I will get through it.
I have not been teary or emotional whatsoever this time, but after such a horror night last night, it has made me anxious. Still I am better than I was last time so far, as last time, I wouldn't have been able to get out the door let alone to playgroup. Also we had visitors Sat and Sun. The Sat ones didn't go home till after 11pm, and the Sun ones arrived at 11:30am and didn't go home till 7pm, so I am prob a bit fatigued from that also. I am going to keep posting about how I am going, as it seems to help me to get it all out, so sorry girls, you will have to deal with my ramblings for a while.

Anyway better go. I am going to go wake Emilia to feed. Still trying to get her to feed more during the day and less at night. It is a catch 22 though. wake her up, as she will get upset and not want to g back down....

    Hi Girls,
Feeling much better today. I went to bed so early last night and just woke up for Ashlyn's feeds. She definitely has this pattern of cluster feeding between 4am and 8pm. I just can not get her back to sleep after the 4am feed. I fed her at 8pm, 10:30pm, 1:30am then 3:30am. During the day her feeds are stretched out much longer (at least 3 to 3.5hrs) apart but at night she just seems to sleep for shorter periods.

I have another woohoo for today as well!!! I got out my pre-preg jeans and they fit!!! I feel a bit muffin topish but I still get them done up and it feels nice to wear them.

Now for some personals as I have been so selfish the last few days.

Jols- Millie is so gorgeous. Which BB member did the photos? They are very talented! She has more hair than I remember from the last photo you put up. SO cute!!!! I am not sure what nipple thrush is but for you as it sounds unpleasant.

Shell- GOod work on the early start. I bet the MCHN thought you were super organised being early as I am sure most women turn up late! (She doesnt have to know that you thought it was half an hour earlier than what the appointment was ).

Laura- I hope you dont have mastitis either. THe symptoms I id get told to watch out for were similar to what you described but also accompanied with flu like symptoms. Maybe take a trip to the doctors. Also a big on becoming an Aunty again! How lovely that Bella will have a cousin around her age to grow up with!

    Ellie-
I am glad that your DH was supportive and helped you out for the night. I am sure he has an even greater appreciation of what caring for a newborn is like now. Remember jsut to ask for help when you need it

Meggie- Please remember to come in here for support anytime you need it, vent and breathe and remember we are always here for you hun

Nai- I am not doing to badly on the bleeding, in fact even straight after birht I didnt bleed much at all. I am thinking maybe the RLT had something to do with it. I do remember them telling me that you can bleed for up to 5-6weeks but it should be changing colour (like it does with a period) and if you are getting any clots then see the doctor. I really feel for you girls who had c-sections and have 2 areas that need to recover. Big to you. Awesome that DD1 has been cooperating for you. Hope that she keeps it up.

Tarkine- I am to scared to use my sling as well! LOL! Scared I am going to use it wrong and that DD wont be able to breathe properly or fall out.

I cant see back any further or remember anything else than that so I am sorry to those of you I have missed.

AFM- Ashlyn has some really dry skin all over body. I have been putting natural insticts baby massage oil on her but it is stil there. She has only had 2 baths since being born (1wk) so I dont think I am drying out her skin by over bathing her. Is there anything else that I should use or should I bath her more? Was supposed to hear back from the MCHN today so they can tell me when they are coming this week but am still waiting to hear back.

Ali, J had the really dry skin too but it has pretty much all gone now. It is actually better to bath them less as washing dries them out more. I am only bathing J more regularly now as her skin is not dry and flaky anymore.

Megie, feel free to vent here - I'm not surprised you feel tired after all those visitors!! I hope they did some housework for you while they were there!

Ellie, how nice to get DH to do all the work I have DP giving J some expressed milk at the moment to give my poor boobies a break. Have you stopped taking pain medication? I found that I noticed my scar pain a bit more once I stopped taking it and then realised that was why - I was actually feeling it instead of having the medication masking it.

Shell, sounds like Miss Em is doing very well. I have my 4 week appointment tomorrow - I can't believe it's already 4 weeks!!!

We are having our usual unsettled time, slept well today up til 3:30 and has only catnapped and cluster fed since, she won't stay asleep longer than 20mins. As long as she settles before I want to sleep!

Nai - yep I'm still bleeding at the moment - expecting it to go for up to 6-8 weeks. Was told to contact midwife if it becomes bright red.

    AJP - nipple thrush ouchie

Meg - I hear you on the visitor thing - I find it more tiring with visitors.

Ellie - Great to hear that DP was able to give you a break.

Laura - hope its not mastitis

AFM - DS has settled a lot, so will now go down at night, but has been catnapping during the day and still clingy unless I wait until he is absolutely zonked out and then I can put him down.
Am still numb from the c-section that is bellybutton below, so I can't feel my c-section.

What are you girls doing for night time feeds and nappy changes?

DS goes through the huggies like anything. Plus its starting to get cold here (will be down to minus at night time) and I don't want to have to heat the whole house all night just to change bubs bum and feeding, was just going to do it all in our bedroom.

    She's asleep for the moment!

Tarkine- I feed in bed and have a towel and nappies at end of bed to change her in the night, barely have to move! I feed one side, quickly change her (she screams!) then feed other side til she falls asleep. I just try and do it quickly.

AJP- Quite like the FAK, think its gonna catch on.

Ali- I only bath twice a week and I put sorbolene on her daily, Em still is quite dry, has the flaky skin.

Meg- Hope you sort out the feeding, how often does she feed in the day compared to night?

Funny to think of you girls with 4 week olds or more when Em just had her 2 week check, your twice ahead!

Ok crying again, she is interupting desperate housewives!

Ali- put some olive oil in bubs bath- it works a treat - helps put moisture back into the skin. Levi's feet lost skin about a week after being born- he was like a snake and the skin just went flaky- apparently its quite common- we just did what you were doing as well- it settled down after a week or so!
Nai- my bleeding lasted around 2 weeks - however today noticed a tiny bit of blood today ( i am 6 weeks on). Same thing happened with the twins- around 4-6 weeks it came back a little bit, but then I didnt get AF till twins were 9 months old so i was happy with that!

Well done on getting back to your pre-preggie jeans. I was lucky enough that i must have lost weight when i was pg- as i am thinner now that i have been for ages- i actually went out to buy a new top today and bought one from target in a size 14!! and it was in the normal size people clothing dept. OMG i havent been a size 14 in anything since i was 12 years old!!! and my big boobs even looked go in it lol! My pre -preggie jeans are now baggy on me- the hard part now is keeping the weight off and loosing more! I allready had a muffin top from the twins-actually come to think of it, i had a muffin top before i had the twin lol

Megimott- please keep on talking to us about how you feel- if you are starting to feel like the walls are closing in- please tell us and we will hound you until you see someone- we dont want you to get in that black hole again!!!! That is what we are here for

Tarkine- i hadnt use my sling until today- i got it out as levi was a bit unsettled and i am on my own with all the ferals tonite. It was actually easier than i thought. Just popped him in it and he fell asleep in two secs flat- nearly collected his head 3 times lol so have to get use to that- i have a bubba sling btw! He is so much bigger now than last time i had a look at the sling and he fits so much better- so maybe wait a couple more weeks and see how you go as well!

Whoot Shell on Em's weight gain- it is so reasurring to know that she is putting on weight and your body is making enough milk for her- well done!!! And well done for getting out the house at 9am- its hard to- but i acutally find that getting out earlier means i get more done- less sleep mind you lol. I have to be out by 8.45 for the kids for school. Levi then falls asleep and i got out!! Today i went and had a pedicure whilst he slept in his pram besides me- lol what a considerate little man lol

Laura- how are your bb's today- hopefully a bit better today! hang in there hon!!

AFM- going to health centre for 6 week weigh in tommorow- levi has gotten huge so will be interested to see how much he has put on and grown! Noticed today that he has developed a stork mark on the back of his neck- lol i had never heard of them until today so there we go! I booked his c/cision in for the 22 may- i am soo aprehensive about it and scared- seeing my OB who will be doing it next week for my 6 week check up so will find out more about it then!

OP- dont think i will be able to make it to MGroup wednesday- DH has to work at this stage grrrr!! Damm

    Mwah to all
