AJP - haven't got to using the cloth yet - still trying to convince DH that they are better.. sigh - type prefolds into you tube and you will see videos on how to fold them (much easier than trying to interpret the written instructions). Yep have got the infant insert, just got to figure out how to get DS in there easily.
Shell - sorry to hear about your friend.. that suxs big time.
Ali - love the photo - just gorgeous!
spent the afternoon around at the MIL so that DH could have some down time, although A was soo clingy he didn't even want a gran cuddle.. although we had a small poospolsion on Gran (hehehe) and only about 30 minutes sleep in 6 hours, so I'm hoping he will sleep for more than 2hrs at a time tonight, so I'm off to bed (sorry no personals).
Shell- it was a major PITA. Def make sure you check it. Your poor friend. We also have friends who are struggling to fall pregnant and are going through IVF and havent been successful. It really does make me realise how lucky we are to have these gorgeous babies. Jols- The playschool concert sounds fun! I remember going to one when I was a little girl and I loved it. Cant wait to take DD to things like that. When do they start sleeping through the night??? Tarkine- about the poopsplosion on MIL! Ash did the same thing to my MIL in hossy. MIL put a pair of booties on her that she knitted and 2 minutes later the 1st meconium poo was all over them!! Ashlyn was like how Alexander was in regard to staying awake for hours and hours on end. My MCHN said babies at this age are only awake for about 1 hour at a time and she was wrong! Kaz- How did you go at the appointment? I hope they found what was wrong and how to fix it.
Haven't had a repeat of the other night thank goodness. THanks for all the hugs! Leon has been so so sooo clingy and attached to the boob constantly. Okay so today it goes like this: feeds at 6am, 8:45am, 10:45am, 1:45pm (wow, longest gap!), 3:30pm, 5:15pm, 7:30pm (finished at 8:30pm and is now sleeping! ) Keeping in mind that in between settling and burping and changing...I've hardly had any time to do anything today PRAY for a good night!
Ali, I'm like you I only give one side per feed so I'm sure he gets the hind milk.
Gosh you all chat so much, I'm so sorry I can't keep up!
Nai, just saw your post! That is so awful that they've got you jumping throuigh hoops to get your poor DD treated. Hope it gets sorted out asap.
AJP have fun at the play school concert!
Oh gee, can't remember what else has been said. I recall pooplosions, hammocks, unsettled bubs. I'll be back tomorrow to catch up properly! Leon's awake
AJP- Enjoy tomor, Ash seemed to enjoy when we went last week, got to leave Em at home cause she fed just prior to us having to go.
Nai- If you lived near me I'd send you to my Dr, they did the stuff on Ash with no probs. Maybe try another GP in your area, someone should be able to do it cause apparantly its a common thing in babies.
Yeah it was the friend that was preg at the same time as us. It makes you mad sometimes that all these drug addicts can have babies yet all these good people desperate to have one go thru all this crap.
Waiting for Em to go to sleep so I can, no point putting her down and trying to sleep when she'll just cry! Had her asleep, gave her to Df while I did few things and she is wide awake!
AJP - We're not in cloth just yet. With everything else going on for me at the moment, DP and I decided to just use disposables until I can do more and we get used to all the other parenting stuff. I am not completely comfortable with the sposies but need to make life as easy as possible at this point.
NZ Girl - Hello! Glad to hear Heidi is doing well. I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering how things were for you.
Shell - That is terrible about your friend. I remember you talking about her earlier. I hope she has lots of support and that they can work out what is going on so she doesn't have to go through it again. Glad Em slept at gymbaroo!
Odette - you are a superwoman!! Can I steal some of your energy
Nai - that must have been so frustrating!!
Holly - Hope you get a good night tonight.
Ali - for you babe. It must suck not having your DP there much to help you settle Ashlyn. You did look amazing after your labour! Another superwoman!! I looked pretty shocking for days -you're lucky to get such a nice photo with Ashlyn only hours old. My appt went ok but I don't think my doc knows whats going on - I got some cortisone cream for the two different types of rash I have going atm so hopefully that will calm them down. He doesn't know what either of them are although I think the pre-birth one is PUPPPS and it's starting to fade. The post-birth one is a mystery.
AFM - We had another night last night with long sleeps between feeds. Mr. J was then unsettled in the morning and again in the evenings (seems like he only has one small sleep during the afternoon) but I can't complain about the last two nights. it continues but know that it won't. We had a busy day today and I got out of the house again. Firstly for a blood test - they still don't know what's going on with this fluid collecting in my abdomen as I don't seem to have an infection. It's freaking me out that no one has seen it before (being so far from the wound site). Then we went to DP's work to introduce them to Mr. J and then out to our block of land that we hope to build on sometime soon.
Ok, well I wish all of you a settled night with some decent sleep. I'm off to put cream on my rashes and then see if I can get some sleep in before the next feed.
Nai - With J's granuloma, I just took him to the local GP and they did it no problems. They use silver nitrate. it was when I lived in Altona. PM me if you want more details of where I went, or if you want any more info about granulomas.
Shell - Lets hope she goes to bed soon. I am sorry to hear about your friend.
AJP/Ali - J was the same. By 4 weeks he would sleep 8pm to 2am, then feed, straight back down till 8am. Ohh it was bliss. I don't think I will be getting it from Miss E though. By 13 weeks, he was doing 12 hours straight.
tarkine - I hope you get a good night.
Miss E is in bed, but I can hear her grunting away in her sleep, so I am guessing another unsettled night with wind/reflux.
A question for all with toddlers - Have you found your toddler waking in the night when they hear the baby? J has woken a few times when he has heard E, but resettled when I tell him that it is just Emilia wanting her milk.
I so wish i could just go straight to bed when E does, but I find that it is the only time I have to myself and try and catch up on things.
Ali- that is a beautiful photo! i agree with everyone else what a PITA with medicare!! u dont need to be screwed around especially with a newborn. how is everything going with DP?? - oh yes i will put my hand up for having breakfast all day
AJP - have fun at the concert!!!
MM - i hope you have a good night... poo about not getting in for another 6 weeks.. i would call them and say look i cant stand to see my baby in pain and hearing her scream is there ANY bloody chance of getting in sooner? and an answer to ur Q : yes logan does wake up and he refuses to go back into his own bed so he sleeps with us and i hate it.
shell - i find it easier if we just go out for the day too... that way logan gets really tired and we come home and he goes straight to bed so i get a little bit of quiet time if im lucky!!
tarkine - i hope u get some sleep also!!!! about the poosplosion.
Nai - what a masiive PITA - i know what u mean by having a screaming baby and a whinging toddler... argh makes u not want to leave the house!!!
Holly - i hope you have a good night tonight!! sounds like we all need some sleep!!!
Kaz - glad to hear everyhting is going ok!!! i will pray that it stays that way for you!!!
i bet it felt good to get out of the house!
det - you are one busy lady!!! so happy that things are all good for you!!
to everyone else!!!
AFM - im going to attemot my birth story tonight... will post it IF i finish it...lol
we have had a pretty good night/day so im thinking tonight will be a bad one...
who is formula feeding in here? im thinking about doing it but im just not sure yet...
will BBL
shell, that's terrible news about your friend, just so unfair Hope Em slept/fed well last night.
Kaz, hope they find out what the go is with all that fluid and that it's nothing serious. I'm like you with the nappies. We have a whole stash of cloth that we started out using but by the 3rd or so day at home we thought *^&* this! So using sposies for now until I'm well and truely settled into this motherhood thing!
Megie how was Emilia last night? Leon went pretty well until the 5am feed and after that he was just so unsettled, grunting and whinging. I actually think he has phlegm(sp?) stuck in his throat as he keeps trying to bring something up but then swallowing it and I've noticed he's got a bit of a stuffy nose as well. Anyone know how phelgm goes away? And can he choke on it??
Det, DP noticed Leon's poo has changed as well, less runny. Why is this?? I'm not doing anything different!
Laura, looking forward to reading your birth story!
Tarkine, lol at the pooplosion! They always seem to happen on me here though
Ali, I can't believe the midwife made such a mistake with your form! What a pita.
Odette is running around the house doing a happy dance- 3 sleeping children WHOOT!
Hey girls! Hang in there- it will start to get easier soon!!!! PROMISE!!!!
Megimoppit- it really does sound like bubs has reflux to me as well. Why dont you ring up Northpark- explain the problem and explain that you are getting close to PND again due to an unsettled bub and see if they can get you in somewhere quicker!!! Otherwise ring up pead you are going to and explain to them how desparate you are!! Ask them to go on a cancellation list and I would be ringing them every week seeing if there is any cancellations- the squeaky wheel syndrome!!! Make the most noise and you will get help!!!
Holly- sounds like bubs is doing some big growth and trying to build up your milk supply to match- moooo!!! Some days you just feel like a cow hey!!! Hang in there
Nai- grr about having to the RCH- might be worth giving them a call before you go to see how busy emergency is before you go there- might save you waiting for ages if they are expecting you!! Also if you have the name of a doc there that you need to see- it fast tracks you through emergency! Had a fair bit of dealings with the RCH - DS is a long term patient there and definately get in quicker this way!
AJP- the playschool concert sounds ace- always wanted to take the twins but never got there- will have to go with Levi defintaely!! Although if Justine is in the concert- then DH will fight me tooth and nail to go as well- he thinks she is hot lol
Amy- good to hear from you- glad everything is going well with Heidi- the older kids i reckon are harder to deal with than the bubs hey! My twins have just started to settle and stop being so feral the past few days!!!
Shell- dont the cat naps do you head in hey lol- you think phew they are settled and then next minute . . . party time!! LOL I am sure they do it just to keep us on our toes. So sorry to hear about your friend- hope they get the answers that they need to hold a pg!
Tarkine- lol at the poopsplosion-i think every gran has to be pooped on at least once- its part of the rite and ritual of being a gran- like a baptism of fire- literally!!! Hope bubs sleeps tonite for you!
AFM- went to lunch today with the POSAMS ( Parents of School Aged Multiples) it was ace to see the girls again- Levi was his champ self and entertained all the girls with his gooing, gahinng and smiling- allready trying to woo the older women lol
Tommorow i have to clean up as house is a ghetto- that is what i get for going out everyday and then sunday kids have a birthday party. Gonna catch up with my besties tommrow nite as well. Levi fed every 2 hours last nite and DS had asthma and coughed all nite . We ended up playing musical beds last nite as DS needed to be supervised to ensure that he was OK and DD was complaining about the noise DS was making - go figure- and somehow everyone managed to only get a couple of hours- i think Levi ended up sleeping the best out of all of us lol
Noticed on Sunday that Levi's poo changed texture a bit- not so runny. Then i had a migrane Sunday nite till Monday nite!! Change of hormones again and my milk looks like it has changed again as well- Levi was 6 weeks on Monday so something to be aware of girls that happens around six weeks. He is now feeding quicker and I am not feeling like i am feeding all day long now as well!!!
I had a mini-meltdown about the Dr. I rang them first to tell them and they said go to the chemist next door before the appointment and get the stuff so I did. I drag a screaming baby who hasn't slept all day and a whingy toddler who is doing my head in up there and the chemist tells me they don't stock it and haven't for years! I just about lost it so I went in next door to the Dr who looks at J's belly button and swabs it to make sure it isn't infected and then writes me a referral to the RCH. So I have to take that to emergency and wait god knows how long for them to see her and maybe do something about it. I will do it on a day when G is in childcare as I'm certainly not doing that with 2 kids!
ali sophie started to sleep through around 3-4 weeks but remember 6 hours is classed as sleeping through!! i going to love the concert as much as sophie!!
nai now thats also a PITA do these people think new mums have all day to fart arse around ...grrrr im grrrrr for you.
