Hi Girls
I just dont get enough hours in each day lately,,, been soo long since i have a chance to sit down and write here!!.
Have to be quick though,, getting really late.
Griffen had his needles yesterday,, and has been really whingy since. The nurse was not at all gently,, so he has two sore legs,, andhe keeps trying to use them heaps and when he strains on them,, he then whimpers and gets upset
Also, the nurse weighed him for me after telling her how he screams and gets soo upset at every feed barr the morning one when my boobs are fuller. Poor little boy gets desperate fo more, so all i can do it give him the dummy,,, which he then sicks the life out of,,,,, and wait another half hour and offer him some more.
His weight however has gone from putting on around 250grams a week,,,,,,,,,, to putting on only 500 grams in the last 7 weeks!!!!!!! that equates to only 70grams a week,,, . I rang up my ECN, trying to get an appt,, but none are available till july, so she told me to drink beer at night,, and feed him more,, and asked how many wet nappies he has,,, as he doesnt have enough of those either apparently . They dont want me putting him on solids till he is 6 months old. Apparently the national guidlines in Australia now are to wait till at LEAST 6 months before offering solids,, as they have found out that offering before then is increasing the amount of children with allergies etc. So he cant have that either.
So,, all in all,, he has gone from the little happy go lucky baby,,, that was in the 90% percentile for height and head circ,,, 50% for weight,,,, to still being that tall etc ont he charts,, but his weights have plummeted, and he fusses badly now,, and screams heaps around feeding time,, and badly at night.
Anyone else having the same issues? any other suggestions to increase milk supply?
Any help woudl be great
Oh Lil! You poor chook!!! Thereare some meds you can get to increase supply - fernergan is one of them (not sure I spelt it correctly though). I hope you can get something sorted sweetie. Maybe have a chat with your GP? My MCHN was USELESS when I was having BFing issues - never told me about the meds that would help!
About the solids thing - my MCHN has told us (Mother's Group) that although WHO suggests 6 months, it is up to us to decide when our babes are ready. There are two already on solids. As Griff's Mummy - you know best. If you think it will help, and you don't have a history of allergies in your family, you could try on baby rice or something.
