Hi Everyone!
Jacki - How is Luke going? Is he sleeping through for you again?
Ashlea - I just love your avatar pic of Alexander! How are you handling be a first time mum? You seem very confident...much more than I ever was!!
Sueby - Thats great to hear you have found a nice school for Benjamin. Its a hard decision to make. Daniel started year one this year and this term he had to wear a tie with his uniform and he looks so grown up! They really do grow up so fast!
Prama - Thanks for the welcome. With all this passport talk I gather you are holidaying soon? Where are you going? Must be somewhere exciting if it involves a passport!!
Esther - I see you are also passport talking. Whereabouts are you going?
Jenjams - Thanks for the welcome. Hope you are feeling better soon.-
Minky - thanks for the welcome!
Well after hearing about babies sleeping 8-12hrs straight and Ruby only sleeping 4hr stretches atm I have come to the conclusion that I must have some "anti-sleep gene" that I pass on to my children! Although Ruby slept 5hrs straight last night and just to make sure my Husband and I didn't get too much sleep Claudia (2yo) decided to wake up twice as she couldn't find barbie.... I give up! :wall::wall: Lucky I love them all to bits! :cryinglaugh:
take care
Melissa.

Hi Everyone,
Melissa -- he he if its not one its one of the others. I find that at the moment just as I get the two boys to sleep DD wakes up and in the morning DD wakes at 6am and when she goes back to sleep the boys get up. As you said just as well we love them to bits!!!
Have a good day
Sue

hi melissa!
we;re off to Kuala Lumpur mid June. Poopy and I will be there for 2 mths, my family is in M'sia. DH comes back after 2 weeks. So we will miss him terribly.
yesterday we put poopy in his bed about 9.30 but he slept at about 10 and woke up at 7! but the problem with him sleeping so long is that my boobs get so full, they start to really hurt. i woke up at 4am and had to express a little. a real shame!
i got him weighed today and he put on 400g in 2 weeks and grew 2cm. must be a growth spurt! he's in the 5th percentile, moved from 3rd, he's still tiny but i have to remember he was 2 weeks early. im still glad cos he only put on 150g over 2 weeks over last weigh in.
hope everyone is doing well, jj hope your blocked duct is better.
oh, i pm-ed katkins and she says all is well and she's good, just really busy and unable to post. so, yaay!
-
Hi,
Prama -- gosh you will miss your DH. When do you actually leave?? Will you be able to keep in touch with us while you are gone??
Great to hear also that Lakshman is putting on weight yaaay!
Great to hear Katkins is OK.
I went on a Kinder excursion to the Fire Station today, very funny. The kids were just gorgeous and sooo excited. I even got to spray the fire hose he he made my day. I am just a big kid at heart.
We are taking DD to have her 3 month photos tomorrow. We had some done at birth and they do them at 3, 6 and 12months and then you can have a collage etc. I have bought the cutest outfit for her I will have to put a photo in my gallery
Have a good evening everyone

sue - yup will be on the net while im at my parents. i'd die w/o belly belly! lol
we leave 14th june back aug 17th. we're there for father's day (it's teh 3rd sunday in june there) so will be nice for my dad and Steve. and my parents' birthdays are in Aug so that will be nice. and it's teh longest time i can be there before i go back to work next feb.
but yeah, it sucks that we'll be apart from steve so long. he's thinking of coming back in aug or so if there are cheap flights on Jetstar etc.
how exciting!! were the kids really excited? hehe were there any cute firemen? lol.
im a fire warden at work, and was so excited to use the extinguisher in one of our training sessions.
looking forward to the pix!
-
Hi Prama,
Yes there were a couple of cute fireman but just babies really I am starting to feel old!!
A funny story for you -- when I worked in Melbourne about 12years ago now I was driving down Chapel St (big shopping precinct) there was heaps of traffic and we were only going slow. Anyway out the window was a firetruck and this totally luscious fireman without a shirt ( i think they were doing a photo shoot or something ) sio yes got distracted and bumped into the car in front. So embarrassed got out checked damage (none thank god) and the guy in the car said to me don't worry darl I was looking too!!!!!!! hehe very funny is still makes me laugh now. But he was just gorgeous.
I have one at kinder one in bed and one watching ABC kids so I had better go and do my jobs before it is kinder pick up time.
Have a good day
Sue
-
lol! that's a funny story!! and without a shirt! yumm!
i always hoping while i was still pg and at work, that the fire alarm would go off and a cute fireman would have to carry me out! never happened! yes, they are usually babies or at the point of retirement.
hehe i watch playschool these days, so many ideas to pick up!
-
What is it about Firemen???? It must be the strong arms and all that rescuing stuff aaahhhh sigh. Enough daydreaming.
Some of my friends at work in Melbourne call them water fairies as they prance in and out!!! Bet they wouldn't like that if they heard it.
I am going out for dinner tonight with two close girlfriends. We have a girls night out every year last year we did it mothers day weekend silly us. We were all a bit sick so couldn't enjoy brekky in bed.
So we moved it to another weekend. Yes so dinner and drinks and then a bit of dancing and letting the hair down I think!!! Very exciting
Sue;)

Prama - finally got the passport - yeah, even I am relieved ! Congrats on the weight gain its always great to know that they are growing well. I hear you on the boobs thing. Yesterday morning I thought mine were going to explode.
Melissa - Luke has been sleeping through the night again (7.00 - 7.00) but I have not been sleeping well which is so annoying so haven't been having great sleeps. Finally got to sleep last night and he then decided to feed twice during the night - can't win. My boobs don't know whether they are coming or going! Hope you get some decent sleep soon.
Sue - I LOVE firemen as well. My DH plays rugby with a couple of them and they sometimes some down the game in the truck in uniform .......... mmmmmmmmmmmmm !!! Enjoy your night out. My mother's group are trying to organise a movie night for Sex in the City - can't wait.
-
Hello guys! Sorry it has been sooo long since I have properly written anything, but DD has been a nightmare. Basically ever since she got her first cold, so for the last month, she has not been sleeping unless she is moving or being held. I nearly had a nervous breakdown and then yest we decided to try the dummy again and for the first time she took it! She actually went down for a nap with the dummy yest afternoon, slept in her own bed last night (although woke up for two feeds and a few more times as she had lost the dummy), and she is napping now, with no screaming!! I was really struggling for a while there and feel like I am in heaven now. Last night I actually got the housework done, had some sleep and even got to finish a cup of tea while it was still hot!! Such an improvement; I couldn't have handled it much longer. Any time I got a chance to pop in here and read how you are all going (ie - when DH has been around to help), I was getting really depressed hearing how your babes were all sleeping through the night when mine wouldn't sleep at all! Now I can actually enjoy my daughter a little as we are both not so cranky anymore!
It is DD's baptism tomorrow, so I am trying to cook and get the house clean for everyone to come here afterwards, so it is a good time for her to finally get the sleep thing happening.
We had DD's CHN appointment the other day and she is now 6.2kg - still doing well but not at the top of the charts anymore, now she is closer to the middle.
prama - so glad to hear the passport is finally ready - I can't believe how long that took!
Jacki - how frustrating that when they actually sleep, sometimes we can't!! I can't wait to see Sex and the City - I am hoping there will be a mum and bubs session we can go to as I really enjoyed the last movie we saw with my mothers group.
sue - that is a really funny story!
diamond - I have been thinking the same thing - why doesn't my baby sleep for 12 hours?!
jen - glad to hear you are feeling better. Mastitis sounds terrible, so I hope you manage to avoid it!
Hi to everyone else. I must go and start making cupcakes for tomrrow but will try to pop in more often from now on!
-
water fairies! i like that hehe!
im so envious you girls are having a night out! haha
we're hoping to have a mums and bubs movie with our MG. but still bub in tow.
jacki - thanks for being relieved! haha, you're so sweet. now i just hope it gets to us soon. but im really glad it got processed without any hiccups.
bun - glad to hear catherine is all better now and you're getting some rest. pls dont feel depressed about her not sleeping all night. it's really hard when you're sleep deprived and having a sick baby. i hope things get better. poopy is sleeping thru most nights, but doesnt sleep much during the day. only 15-30mins between most feeds. unless we're out in teh car or pram. i find it hard to get things done at home. breakfast/lunch takes hrs or just gobbling down. yes, i cant remember when i relaxed w a cup of tea. even if he's asleep, i keep thinking hes going to awake any moment. like right now.
I hope you feel better, bun. xoxo
gotta go. talk soon. yaay weekend, yaay having dh to help w bub
-
Hi all,
Prama - I love the weekend too; DP always looks after bubby for a couple of hours in between feeds for me to go to town and have a run around and a coffee without bubby! Something to look forward too. Congrats on the passport! It shouldn't be too long. Not too long to go now; have you started the countdown?
Bun - Yai on trying the dummy again and Catherine taking it and sleeping! It makes it so hard if they don't want to sleep. Hopefully this will be the turning point!
Jacki - I sleep quite well between 9 pm and 3 am, but after this nightfeed, it takes me forever to go back to sleep and if I do sleep it is very light... Very annoying. Maybe i should try going to bed later, but i am afraid that the moment I do so, bubby will start waking up again...
Sue - Did you have a good night out? Haven't had a night out for ages!! If I did go I would probably fall asleep at 9 anyway.
Melissa - We are going to The Netherlands to visit my family; a cool 29 hour flight, so I am not looking forward to the travelling. But I haven't been home for 5 years so i am certainly looking forward to catching up with everyone!
Jenjams - How are you going? Hopefully the mastitis didn't take hold!
Not much has changed here since last post, apart from bubby being able to hold things and put them in his mouth. Today he nearly rolled from his back to his side, so the rolling thing isn't too far away either! We joined another mothersgroup this week and it was so much fun; so nice to be able to get out of the house and talk to other mothers. The first group was too much of a mixed bunch to keep getting together, so someone put me onto this one; I am glad she did! Bubby had a great time too; he didn't sleep from 1till 5 and was happy all the time; so much distraction he loved it.
Have a great weekend!
-
Sorry for the MIA again... im hoepeless at posting in this thread. I think i keep unsubscribing or something =/
Prama - excellent to hear that Kerrie is well... I was just thinking about her the other day and thinking of doing the same thing, you beat me to it!! Lakshman looking quite adorable! Not long til you go overseas now!
Melissa - I'm doing well, so far! My mum has just had twins as well so I have someone right by me to keep me sane, which is helping, but I don't agree with a lot of the things she does so when Alex gets to those certain ages there might be drama! I hope you get some decent sleep soon... Alex does have some long sleeps, but he chops and changes... So on the night that I do go to bed when he does it's the night he decides to feed three hourly overnight. Can't win! :wall:
Bun; Catherine looks very cheeky!!! How did the baptism go?
Esther, how exciting on the almost rolling! that's fantastic!! Stevi & charli have just started rolling and it's so adorable to see.
Gosh you girls that have or have had mastitis are doing a mighty fine job, i know it's when your not meant to, but i think that would be my breaking point for giving up.
OK i have to go for now, we're having a shocking day, maybe a growth spurt. Hi to Jacki and everyone else I've missed! Many  and sleep vibes to you all...
P.S. Does anyone talk to Carley? How is she going? I think last time she was in she said Lysander had a horrible case of reflux.
-
Hi everyone.
Bun- Sorry to hear your DD has not been behaving like a lady. Hopefully now she will smarten up her act and decide to sleep so you can get some well earned rest. Has DH been helping you?
Prama- Woo Hoo on poopy's passport. He is such a cute little boy.
Esme- Thanks for thinking of me. I am right as rain now :) I still dont belong to a mothers group but I have met a couple of women from belly belly so better than nothing I guess.
Jackie- Well done on Luke sleeping well through the night. You feel so much better after a decent nights sleep.
Hello to everyone else.
Well we have changed Ambers night time routine slightly. We now bath her at 730. She has a feed then goes to bed. We wake her at 930 for her final feed. She is straight back to sleep. She will stir around 4 where we go and put her dummy in. She wakes between 5-6 for a feed. She has her feed and will go back to bed for anything up to 4 hours. She does stir a couple of times in between though. She only has brief naps during the day. Enough to go to the toilet or put a load of washing on. She is mostly keeping happy though.
Amber has learnt how to squeal. She has found her highest pitch and thinks it is hilarious to do it. It grates on the ears after awhile.
With the rolling, when Amber is on her back she can roll to her side where she is not far from going over.
Hooray my blocked duct is gone. The cabbage leaves worked a treat. If anyone has a blocked duct, get a cabbage!
We bought a BebePOD during the week (Same as Bumbo) and Amber LOVES it. She enjoys sitting up and seeing what is going on. I taught her to bake on Friday. i put her in her seat on the bench and she watched me make cookies.
Happy Sunday to all.
-
jj - glad your blocked duct is gone. yaay! phew!!
aj - welcome back!! how's your bridezilla in training coming along?
nothing much here to report. started to sort things out to pack. have to make a list for all of lakshman's things.. so much to think!
hope everyone's having a good weekend.
i had a nice sleep in, an extra hr after the morning feed. and dh looked after him. im going to have a nap now. dh's taken him to the garage. hoping for 30mins of sleep.. love teh weekends
-
Bun - sorry to hear you have been having a rough time. I don't know what I would do without my bub's dummy. He loves it !
Esme - great tohear you have joined a mums group that you like. I really love all the girls in mine, they are such a great support and a good laugh as well.
Jen - BeBepod/bumbo's are great. I but Luke in one at a friends house the other day and he just loved it. Thankfully your blocked duct has cleared.
Ash - pretty sure Luke just went though a growth spurt which throws all the routine out the window. Hopefully Alex won't give you too much trouble and be back to normal in a couple of days.
Haven't heard anything from Carley since she mentioned the Lysander's reflux ...... so Carley if you are out there and reading but not posting - we are all thinking of you and hopefully Lysander is getting better now that the bubs are all getting older!
Not too much new here. DS is in absolutely no hurry to roll - showing no signs at all. I guess its good in a way because he still pretty much hates tummy time so if he managed to roll onto his tummy from his back I think he would 'spit the dummy'.
BTW - So much for my movie night - DS has decided he won't take EBM !!! So frustrating.
-
Hi All,
It must have been "Think of Katkins Day" last week cos I thought the same the thing around the same time as the rest of you. Good to hear she is doing ok!
Thinga are going ok here. I am having a bit of trouble feeding Zoe at the moment. I am starting to think my milk supply is a bit low. She is starting to get really cranky on the boob after only sucking for about 5 minutes. At a few feeds she has completely lost it and refuses to come near me after a while. Luckily I had some breastmilk in the freezer so DH was able to top her up with that. It's quite stressful though. She never really seems to cry from hunger so I have been feeding her 3-4 hoursly. I am thinking I will have to try feeding her more often to get the supply going. It's all such a bloody puzzle isn't it!!!
-

sorry for all those posts...the page kept crashing but it appears they all made it up anyway!!
How does one remove posts? i can't figure it out!
-
danda - ive had to top up with formula cos poopy's still hungry after both boobs.
YAAAAAAAAAAYYY - his passport arrived today! we're so relieved, and so proud! he has the special new ones with chips.
esme - i started a thread on tips on flying with a baby.. thot you might be interested
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1273501
-
Danda - I am also having troubles feeding DS sometimes. He gets stroppy and doesn't want to be on there after a few minutes. Sometimes he just wants to look at me and laugh or look around the room. Sometimes I just try the other side and see if that works. Otherwise I just close up shop. I am assuming he is taking enough and that he would let me know if he was still hungry (I hope).
Question - anyone thinking of introducing solids a bit earlier than 6 months ???
-
I wrote a long post and bellybelly ate it. :(
Jacki - I aim to exclusively breastfeed for at least six months; that said i do believe that solids are often baby led introduction and I am doing my best to be informed about the certain stages they go through so I can best reevaluate at a time where he may be interested prior to six months - did that make sense?
Not much to report on Alexander... not form memory anyhow!!
As for mums groups... i gave up. I feel quite lonely and isolated but i just felt out of place there so thank goodness for BB.
Danda - you cant delete the posts but if you want edit the latter to and just delete everything and write "double post". They are indeed a puzzle!!
Prama - wooohooo, you finally got the damn passport!!! As for the wedding planning... it's not really happening... there's lots of ideas in place it's saving money to be able to concrete them that is the issue :cryinglaugh:
Well sounds like the boobie monster is up, so i off for now!
-
prama - woohoo on DS's passport arriving - that must be such a relief! We are going to Melbourne in July, so will have to get some travelling tips from all you girls who are travelling or have travelled with your bubs!
Jen - i am glad the blocked duct is all better now, that must be so painful. I find it painful enough if DD goes a while between feeds because my bbs get so huge - it's agony!
ash - DD is a very cheeky little girl! I hope you are having a better day with DS :)
esme - I am glad you have found a mothers group that suits you - I find my MG a lifesaver and was really lucky to get such a great group of women.
jacki - I have been thinking about solids too - I reckon DD would love it already. I asked the CHN about it and she said it was ok to start on a little bit of baby cereal already if I wanted. I haven't yet, but will soon.
I'm glad to hear that katkins is going well, I was thinking about her too.
Well, DD seems to have turned over a new leaf. She will still take her dummy and it seems to calm her down so much. She will now sleep on her own at night, is having decent naps throughout the day and is soooo much happier, it's like having a new baby! Around a week before she started improving, I got medication for her reflux and apparently it can take a week or so to work, so I have no idea if this improvement is because of the dummy, the medication or if maybe it has just taken a long time to get over her cold and she is now fully recovered. Whatever it is, I hope it continues!!
DD rolled over for the first time last week. it was hilarious - she rolled onto her tummy and couldn't roll back again so screamed! She hasn't done it again though. She seems to have learnt so much lately - she has heaps more control when grabbing at things, and pretty much everything gets shoved into her mouth these days. I bought her a jolly jumper and she loves it and is so cute in it!
Hi to everyone else, I hope you are all travelling well.
Love Bun (and her blissfully sleeping DD - woohoo!!!)
-
Hi Everyone,
I too wrote a huge post yesterday and BB ate it!
So yes I had a good night out -- lots of champagne and goss and dancing, I certainly do not recover as well as I used to he he. Now I remember why it was a year ago I last did it.
Bun -- so glad to hear your DD is sleeping it makes it so much easier.
Ashlea -- sorry to hear Mums group didn't work out. We are all here for you if you get lonely. ( Ballarat isn't too far from Lara you know)
Jacki -- I agree with Ashlea - bub will let you know when he is interested. He will be following your every mouthful when you eat and opening his mouth as well. It is usually around the 6 month mark when they start doing this though( but some bubs are hungry and need food slightly earlier) just play it by ear whatever works for you.
Bummer on DS not taking EBM you might have to do a Mum's and bubs screening.
Prama -- HOORAY ON THE PASSPORT!!!!!!!
Danda - hope your feeding troubles have improved.
Jenjams -- great to hear your blocked duct has gone.
Hello to everyone else
I am going in to work today to sign a casual contract until my Maternity leave is finished in January. I will only work a shift a fortnight but it helps with those nasty bills and lets me have a bit of Adult contact even if I am looking after sick people.
I will only work on the weekends as well as DH is in Melbourne with work and its too much to ask my Mum to look after 3 children!!
Have a good day everyone
Sue
-
ash - sorry about your MG.. sux when they make you feel lonely and all. There are about 9 of us, youngest is 22. i dunno if everyone will meet up now that it's finished. they are all nice. we have own meeting next week so that will be nice.
sue - woo hoo! on a great night out.. i think ive forgotten what champagne tastes like.. suddenly im really thirsty.
it will be nice to go back just part time.. some adult company, some feeling of your life and also time to spend with the kids compared to full time.
BB has been eating lots of posts, it's been happening to me too.
i was going to say something else but have forgotten...
-
Thanks Sue  It's not too far but P/T isn't particularly friendly ;)
I do have to get there one day though.
There were seven of us and I was the youngest. I wouldn't have minded if the HN hadn't of been so outwardly opinionated about young mothers. Every week sher would make a point of saying how successful her sons were (not much older than me) and how they had degrees, high flying careers and how she didn't want to be a grandmother yet. For someone that's there to help facilitate relationships between new mums she didn't do so healthily. I should have gone back when they had the day on their own but I didn't have the patience nor energy to try after five weeks of constant condescension from the HN.
That said i do understand that this lifestlye is a choice that I made and if not having people around is part of that, i can deal... I was just infuriated that she seemed to find it necessary to shoot me down in every possible way. Nothing I said in group conversation ever seemed to be a valid contribution according to her.
Aargh, i could go on and on... Sorry, rant over.
-
Ash - People like that shouldn't have a job like that! Did you get on with any of the mothers at all? Maybe it is worth finding out about their next meeting and give it a go... You could always have an excuse ready about a certain appointment or something if you don't like being there ;). I nearly didn't end up going to my mothersgroup because I didn't know most of them, but I am so happy I did end up going and now I am so looking forward to tomorrow! Otherwise just keep posting here. I love bellybelly too because we live out of town, so I don't go into town every day and end up a bit lonely at times (there is only so much baby talk and games you can do without going gaga...)
Prama - thanks for putting me onto your flying tips thread! I will certainly keep an eye on it. Congrats on getting his passport; such a relief!
Hi to everyone else! Sorry have to go; tea time!!
-
ash - what a cow!!!! the MG isnt about her! im so sorry it turned out like that. what kind of message does it send to young mothers, regardless of age.
maybe if you just went the group gets founded on its own w/o the HN. some of the girls might feel the same way as you. but of cos, if you dont want to, it doesnt matter.
esme - thanks it is a relief! agree, really need adult conversation
-
Ash, not having people around is not what you chose when you decided to have a family!!! I understand that there'd be fewer young 20-something mum's around these days but that doesn't mean you can't have other mum friends!! You should try going back now that they probably don't have a facilitator anymore. My mother's group has only just finished the facilitated sessions today and now we are on our own...i reckon it's going to get so much better when we can sit around and chat freely and I am really looking forward to having some local mum friends. I think it's really important....probably more so for you as maybe you don't have lots of friends with babies. I have lots of friends with babies but cos they live all over the place it's a bit harder to hang out often. Give it another go...especially if you are feeling a bit isolated.
-
p.s. Ash - you should report that health nurse!! that is seriously unprofessional behaviour!
and in case no one has said it to you lately...Good on you for being such a fabulous mum and doing such a great job!
-
Aww thanks danda!
As for reporting her ive been thinking about it i just never get around to it.
-
Ash -- I don't know why these interfering cows are allowed in these positions. What a nerve. I really would report her -- she has probably done it to many others. Some of these women just can't move with the times. It is so obvious you adore Alexander and your DP so why does she have the right to judge you.
Anyway if you ever get over to Ballarat let me know we could do coffee!!!!!
I feel isolated at times because it is just so much easier to stay at home with the 3 of them but we have kinder and playgroup so I do get out even though its not really that relaxing. IYKWIM:)
Anyway hang in there Ash you are doing a great job and we are all here for you:hug:
Sue
-
ash - hope ur feeling better. yeah try if you can report her. im so sick of ppl who ruin it for mums with bubs.
love alex's bum!
sue - i find it easier sometimes to just stay at home, tho it gets me down. i want to do all the things, tummy time, play etc. and then if i go out i worry i havent done enough. but i hve to keep reminding myself, it also does poopy good being out and about and seeing different things. just lugging everything becomes a hassle sometimes. but i do enjoy being out and about.
it must be hard with 3 little ones.
poopy's no where near turning. he did a upper body shoulder turn last week but that was it. oh well, he will do it when he wants to.
-
Oh my....our thread was off the first page of baby buddies....thought I'd better post to get us back up there!!!
I had an exciting/freaky morning....I was sleeping and the dog was asleep at the foot of the bed. She barks when she hears noises and i generally tell her to shut up. She barked, i said "shut up" but then i was awake and I heard the noise she was barking at....it was a guy trying to break into the house next door by jimmy-ing the back sliding door!! I could just see the top of his head and the door being forced open. I called the cops and then after i got off the phone I saw the guy out the front window....he was just standing there looking like he was waiting for something. I then realised it was probably the person who lives there trying to break into his own house but i wasn't certain so I just hid in my bedroom! Then i heard yelling and someone jumping my side gate....talk about SH*T myself...i could totally hear the blood pumping through my heart and i was trying to figure out how i could get down to Zoe's room before I made a run for it!!! Then i could hear calmer voices and a police radio out the front. The cops knocked on my door and it turns out it WAS the guy who lives next door trying to get it to his own house (he's a locksmith by the way!!!!?????) and it was the cops who had jumped my fence.....they must have got the wrong address!!! HA HA!!!
I hope adrenalin doesn't affect babies milk cos she would have got a whole load of it in that feed!!!!
PHEW!!!
I want to know why a locksmith has to try to jimmy a door...you'd think he'd be an expert at getting in wouldn't you!!! I am planning to go over there later and apologise, so I will have to ask him that one!
Hope you are all well.
-
Oooh Danda...how frightening!!! I would have shat myself hearing someone break in!! Why was he trying to get in anyways??
Ash, sorry to hear about that nasty HN at your mothersgroup! People like that **** me!

Opinions needed.
A friend of mine has invited us around for dinner next weekend.
She has 15 month old twins. Also going will be another 15 month old and a 6 week old.
The older ones all play well and will be playing from 5.00 - 7.00 to tire them out and put to bed. The 6 week old will sleep anytime anywhere. As the older bubs will be going to bed around 7.00 we have been invited around for a 7.00 dinner.
My dilemma is I am not too sure whether I want to go. 7.00/7.30 is DS's bedtime. This means feeding, bathing him etc and then getting in car, trying to get him to sleep in a portacot (which I hav never tried before) with all the new smells, sounds etc, waking him (if he actually goes to sleep) to come home in car then waking him again to put into bed. DS will be 17 weeks old
Do you think this is a bit too much to ask or am I thinking it will be harder than it actually will.

Jacki - I have the same reservations about going out at night and we are invited to a birthday party from 4 pm and bubby's bed time is 5 pm. Not looking forward to it.... For us it's not too bad, because it is two weeks before we go overseas and that will stuff up our routine anyway. Does Luke sleep alright in the pram? Maybe it is easier to get him to sleep in there then the portacot (also less hassle to set up/pack up)? Hopefully all the excitement will tire (sp?) him out so much that he will sleep through...Sorry, not too much advise here, just wanting to let you know that I have the same dilemma and wonder whether anyone has any experience with this.

I find Alex will go to bed whenever i "want" him too.
Most nights he goes down at 8ish but other times he goes down at 10-12 because df works late and otherwise doesn't get to see him. Whatver happens he goes down fine the next night anyway.
I say - go to the party. Yes, they are little and you don't want to stuff his routine, but he is a baby, and still so little, HE is going to change it enough times for you. IYKWIM.

Ash - its not so much the getting him to sleep its the sleep then waking him to get in the car, sleep in the car, waking him to get out of car and then to bed. If we do go may be a quick feed will get him settled and back to sleep
