still no teeth here!!!! Jasper isn't on his own!!

we went for orientation at childcare last week and since then I have been trying to change Zoe's routine a little bit so she can fit in better with the routine at daycare. I have been thinking about dropping her to one sleep a day for a while cos her afternoon nap was always optional as far as she was concerned!!! So, just in the last couple of days I have dropped her to one sleep straight after lunch (about 11:45am) and no breastfeeds in the day anymore (one first thing in the morning and one before she goes to bed). It seems to be working pretty well so far. Although, yesterday i think she got overtired and when i put her down for her sleep she fought it hard for about an hour and then only slept for 40 mins!!! Getting there though....hopefully she will ease into childcare without too much trouble. I go back to work 3 days/week in about 4 weeks. ARGHHH!!

Good to hear all is well with you lot.
Ash, I hope it gets rosier for you as each day passes!

    Hi all!

Danda - good to hear Jasper isn't the only one without teeth! As I am still breastfeeding, I have to say I don't mind too much. I have been thinking of trying Jasper on one sleep too as he fights his arvo sleep so much, but he still sleeps for one hour, so I might wait a little. I would like to take him to playgroup which is from 10-12, so one sleep would be easier. Hopefully you going back to work won't be too hard on either of you!

Ash - Good to hear you made it to Yass; hope you settle in soon!

    Hi to everyone else!

i understand esme.. i understand abt teeth and bf!! im getting a bit worried he might bite me.. i can feel his tooth when he's feeding, and it's sharp!!
if he doesnt bite when he gets more teeth, i'll go on bf.. i dont mean to sound selfish but i was thinking of weaning at 12mths.. but if he's good bf-ing w teeth i can go on for a while longer and decide when to wean. im just terrifed of teeth!!

I am thinking of weaning from anytime on now too, Prama. I have had enough. Jasper is eating really well so he doesn't really need it anymore, so I am thinking of cutting back to two feeds (morning and before bed) after his first birthday. At the moment we are learning to drink milk out of a normal cup (he loves his cowsmilk) so that can replace the lunchtime BF. Not too sure about the other two feeds, I don't think he is going to drop them by himself; he loves it too much. How many breastfeeds does Lakshman have? And how are you thinking of getting him to wean?

he has a bf first thing in the morning and at night before bed. during the day he has his formula. he has 3 milk feeds now. im going to change his formula to cow's milk but not sure if i should wait till his b'day or just before he starts day care. he'll be just over 11.5mths and not much difference i guess. will ask the nurse this week.
i just dropped his feed from 4 and he didnt seem to mind.
i dunno how to wean, havent really thot how yet.. i'll ask the nurse.. maybe just keep the night for now? i'm just thinking if i keep the night, he might sleep better?
also i'll have to ask, they said when they have teeth not to go to sleep just after drinking milk and that's it bad for their teeth. does that apply for breastmilk as well?

DD has bitten me once and yep, it hurts! I don't think it was deliberate and she hasn't done it again, so I am happy to continue BFing for the time being, but I'm not sure how long I will continue if she starts biting more often! It even hurts feeling the top teeth scraping against the boob, sometimes a lot, but she loves her boobie milk so much I can't bring myself to stop yet!

I have only just cut DD's night feed - I have decided enough is enough, so now I just leave her cry a lot longer than I used to at night and she is learning to put herself back to sleep. She still has 4 feeds during the day and I am also thinking of starting to cut them back. I am not really sure how to do it yet either. I think I will start replacing the mid morning feed with cows milk after she turns one, and then if that goes ok, I will start replacing the afternoon feed with cows milk too. I am happy to keep feeding her morning and night for the time being, although it would be nice to have my body back!

esme - i am also thinking of going to a playgroup that goes from 10-12, right at the same time as her morning sleep, but she still seems to like a morning and afternoon sleep. I think I will leave it a little longer and then try just one day sleep. I suppose it will also make things easier at day care when I want to go back to work.

Hi to everyone else, I hope you are all having a great long weekend!

    Hey ladies,
    Happy Australia Day!
my DS has been on 2 feeds for a while now bf in the am and formula from his sippy cup at night - went on stike and decided he was 'way too busy' during the day to stop and have milk! i wasn't quite ready to wean yet, but i figure at least i stil get to bf him once a day. he won't take a bottle anymore...isn't it fummy how they change their minds - i tried so hard to get him to take a bottle of EBM so he could stay with my ma, and then he decided that he only wants his b.milk in a bottle and now he won't take the bottle at all..?!
have thought about taking him down to one sleep during the day, but he still seems to need that arvo nap - otherwise he is a major cranky pants...
i think i will start trying out some cows milk soon....
    sleep well all,

    Hi all!

Prama - Will he take a little water after his last feed? Just to get rid of the milk in his mouth? I am wanting to drop the morning feed at some stage, but at the moment he is so hungry when he wakes up that I can't even change his nappy first... So I am not sure what to do about that, maybe just wait a little longer.

Bun - LOL, only eating roast vegies; sunday roast at your place every day? I too decided to cut out the night feeds a couple of weeks ago. After a few grizzly nights, he decided to just sleep through, so certainly worth the effort! Jasper still needs two sleeps, so will have to wait with playgroup too. It was more for me than for him as I am getting a bit lonely atm (as you can tell from the no. of posts here ) But last week ran into a girl from our antenatal class and we decided we want to catch up at some stage, so see how we go.

Bronzdbebe - Welcome to the group! Your bub is only two days younger than Jasper. Birthdays coming up real soon... Have you started planning yet? I have been looking around for cake ideas, but haven't made up my mind. One of my partners nephews is intolerant to just about any artificial colour/flavour/preservative, so might have to skip the coloured icing... Thinking about a chocolate cake decorated with small plastic toys...

Kato - They certainly know what they want, don't they? Jasper doesn't want to finish his breaky until he had a couple of spoonfulls of mine; they might be little but they do know how to get their message across.

    Hi to everyone else!

good idea abt the water after the last feed. will do that.

Prama - Will continue with three feeds for a while then.
Lakshman and Jasper have their nap at the same time it seems! Good time to be on BB isn't it ?

    Hi Girls,

Welcome Bronzdbebe good to have you here.
Prama - when do you go back to work? I am trying to do the three feeds a day which we normally manage but occaisionally she will wake overnight and have a bottle I am wondering whether to make this just water.
Esme - it gets a bit lonely doesn't it. They do seem to have playgroups at silly times i think they should be at 9am or straight after lunch. Maybe we could set up a revolution in playgroups he he.
I would make whatever cake you like and not worry about your nephew, I know it sounds harsh but he is probably used to not having what everyone else has. Maybe make a special cupcake for him and a yummy iced cake for everyone else. I have found you can't cater to everyone I think the best bit of the party is the cake and we always put the cake in front of them and let them attack it after Happy Birthday has been sung he he very messy.

Hi Kato, Danda, Bun and CookieMonster

Ho to JenJams and Jacki and everyone else (where are you guys?)

Sophie is now crawling properly although she is slower with her tummy off the ground and she is also standing up everywhere. We are having her party on her actual birthday and I am organizing a pool party. We only have a small wading pool and a ball pit so I am going to set them up outside under the shadecloth and use some tank water so the kids can have a splash. May evern have a slip n slide!

Hope all us victorians stay cool

    Talk soon

    Thank Esme,
I have started planning Zane's birthday, We are having a pirate party (husbands request) and Zane will be the youngest there so it's more for the adults and others kids really...I think the birthday boy will be stoked with the wrapping paper and not not much else will matter. lol.
As for the allergies/intolerance maybe you could have lots of cupcakes and arrange them into a No 1 and just leave the icing off the ones you need to for those with intolerance? Just an idea.
Still can't believe how quickly the time has passed by, seems like only yesterday I was pregnant, I was 9 day overdue with Zane so had he come on the due date he'd be 1 today!!
