Runner - have been to Japan but only Tokyo airport for a stopover!! :lol: everyone was wearing masks on their faces and this was a few years after SARS too.... LOL but Japan would be cool!! Well done on Amara rolling! Ava can half roll .... won't be long til she's rolling....
Dis - yeah I don't think A has to work very hard for her milk either cos' at the moment I have that much it just squirts out if i just touch my boob slightly LOL and maybe thats why she's started doing it? It's like she doesn't need to have a strong hold of it for some reason and it may be a fast flow.... I am on Motilium that might be why :lol: I don't want her to have any more bottles of EBM or formula soon... we've had to because if you remember she wasnt gaining enough weight and was losing weight (weeks ago). but all is good now. I've got an LC coming over for a home visit tomorrow see what she says :D
MumDeb - Harley is in a nice pattern there! Ava is a bit unsettled lately it must be a growth spurt I'm thinking.....
Gill - thats cute Ella has conversations hehe while feeding. Ava does similar but more like sighs like she's thinking "oh this is good...." hehe its cute..... I love your new pic!!
Orange - we're getting a Bumbo soon! Thanks for reminding me!

Does anyone know of a good website that has games etc I can read about to play with Ava? I found the fisher price one but you can't subsribe to it unless you're in the states.... maybe i'll just write them down on some paper. was hoping for an emailed version where they send you updates each week of games to play etc

Thats so cool we were at the same hospital. Do u live far from Caboolture? I'm at Morayfield. There were no other Qld girls in the other Jan group!

Runner, I've been to Japan and loved it. In fact, we're planning on taking the boys to Disneyland there next year, even though the LA one would be cheaper. Love the people, it's easy to get around and just an interesting place to visit. If we go next year though, we'll only be going to Disneyland and maybe a few other Tokyo places like the Ueno Zoo. Ben will only be three and I think it would be a bit much to travel around with two babies. Might be a bit easier for you with Logan being a bit older though.

OMG!!!!!!! :o Just went for a 30min walk with the 3wheeler pram and our dog, and Miss A screamed bl@@dy murder the whole way.... I'm sure everyone in their houses were looking out the windows at me :lol: It was quite stressful. Picked her up a few times to cuddle her but when i put her down she'd scream again. I got home and fed her but she wasn't even that hungry!!! :dunno: no idea what is upsetting her so much today.... it's been one of those days... *sighs* I need to lose weight!!!

Runner - forgot to say before (remembered on my walk) that that injection for Whooping Cough i asked GP about today and we discussed it and there has been no real research done on how safe it is for breastfeeding women however the QLD govt say its safe for b.feeding women. Anyway i didnt get it and might do some more research on it.

eta - now Miss A is in her hug-a-bub and is sleeping nicely!!! Hhhmmm I think next time my walk will involve the hug-a-bub and NOT the pram LOL

Deb: Col delivered both my bubs. She was my rock and went out of her way to make it a pleasant experience...couln't and wouldn't have done it without her (I suffered post traumatic stress disorder from first birth experience - long story). I live at Caboolture....we have probably passed many times at the hospital or even at shops he he. It will be nice chatting with a local - not that it isn't nice chatting to all these wonderful ladies. They have been very supportive. Are you on facebook?

Better go. Just bought DD a walkie talkie so we can keep in contact when she is in the yard. She has no idea but seems to be having fun with them all the same.

Thanks for the support Runner mwah!! You have inspired me......look at my signature "personal weight loss challenge". Anyone else want to join me?? They say it is easier when you have the motivation of others who want to loose weight as well. This week I will eat my three meals (which are really nutritious) but watch the size of the meal and limit snacks (also make better choices). I will be eating my dinner off a butter plate to help with this. Also, I will be cutting down on diet coke. I'm not a coffee/tea drinker so the caffeine in coke was keeping me going....don't NEED it anymore. I don't want to fall into the trap of dieting...this needs to be a forever thing. I just need retraining, that's all.

I would like to loose 1kg this week. I will be out in the garden this weekend so a nice start to exercise (and fun). Bring on tomorrow!! Wish me luck!!

Well I've had a terrible morning, I don't know if u girls would of read on the other Jan thread but I suffer from panic disorder, and well this morning Harley was so worked up, wouldn't take his bottle, and his cry just got so much, I felt so useless, but lucky I had a few ppl talk to me. I dunno bout u girls, but sometimes I wish DP would put me ahead of work, like I know he has to work, but this morning he left me in a mess, well not as big a mess that I got, and his work is so quiet atm... I'm sure his boss would of let him come home for an hour or so, just to help me get Harley settled. I was a single mum with Charlotte and lived at home and always had mum around, so this is all new, I've never been on my own when bubs has gone off like that!! I also dont have a licence so find it hard getting around...thats another long story and won't bore u with it today. But I'm ok now, just really wish I wasn't on my own today, but I'll get there, just hope 5pm comes around fast!!

Deb, I hope your day continues to improve. It's awful when you're on your own and really feel it. I can't imagine what it'd be like to have a panic attack as well.

Orange, you are very brave: two kids and a dog! I've managed to do the two kids thing, but my dog is a nightmare to walk (10 yo black lab who thinks he's a puppy!) so I haven't been brave enough to try that!
Good luck with the weight loss. I don't really want to start losing weight yet as I find it difficult while bfing. I have no willpower as I use bfing as my excuse! Anyway, I am trying to get fit and work on my cardio rather than weight loss. We'll see how I go. I've been sick for a week so have been doing no exercise at all :(

Ren, J hates his pram too. We've just taken the bassinette attachment off (as he was hitting his head while his feet were touching the bottom!) and it's back to being a normal lay-back stroller. We'll see how he goes, but I don't think he'll like it much better. He LOVES the HAB though. He just likes to be upright. I hope Ava has a better time on your next walk :)

We're slowly getting better. Well, Ben and I are. Jared and DH are now getting it. It's awful to see little Jared coughing his head off, but he's still full of smiles. Such a happy kiddo :) I'm hoping he won't get it as bad as Ben had it. Let's hope all that wonderful breastmilk does it's stuff :)

True, true Gill about girls multi-tasking he he. DD could do a couple of things at once. Poor old Dash can't even drink his bottle and fart at the same time he he!!

Oh, Deb...forgot to mention that I understand about panic attacks. I don't suffer now that I have given birth but was under a psychologist whilst pregnant with Dash...they were very bad.

Dis: Glad to hear that you and Ben are on the mend but am sad to hear that little man and hubby are now sick. Hope your household is back to normal shortly. I did chicken out taking the dog. I too have a 3 year old lab that will always be a puppy. Not an easy task...I made it to the gate he he.

Linda: Aww having Panic attacks while pregnant would of been so scary, I was lucky I didn't have them, a couple of times I got anxious but yeh since having Harley they are back stronger then ever! I just wish I could convince myself I'm ok!

Harley is being fussy over his bottle this arvo, only his 3rd for the day and manged to get about 60-80ml out of it, he normally has 180 - 200 for each feed, I know hes like his sister a lil piggy but yeh hoping everything is ok, he has spewed alot today but don't think its reflux as he hasn't been upset with the vommiting. Did another poo before, he certainly hasn't be constipated since being on the formula!! Well pretty much since his 2nd week, cos the first week he had no poos since his first day!
Got Charlotte now carrying on, so will head off, the joys of 2 kids!! Glad I don't have a dog as well, waiting till Harley is about 18months lol!! I said to Rob that can be my next baby hehehe

Ren: when R was about 3 weeks old i took him out in the pram and he just wouldnt stop screaming i was so upset (still being hormonal) and ended up finishing my walk in tears lol kinda funny looking back.... now he zonks after 10 and i keep walking till he's had at least 45 mins

Orange: I'm with you on the weightloss challenge i have about 30kg to lose and i want to lose it all before we start trying for our next one... my weakness is coke as well. I'm not sure how to go about this while breastfeeding though as i'm always so hungry might have to do some research on the best thing to snack on.

Deb: welcome, i'm glad your day yesterday got a little better. I don't have a licence either so i can understand how hard it is even to go out and grab some milk.. that and driving around to calm bubs is out as well :(

Runner: what kind of zantac is Amara on the syrup or the tablet that you dissolve in water? The dosages our bubs are on seem so different R is on 8mls 3 times a day.

Hi girls I'm back after 2 weeks hols - 1 week in Tassie with just Henry which was BLISS. So nice to get to 'know' him with some 1 on 1 time. Then we were at Apollo Bay in the caravan all 5 of us. Very nice. Pile of washing now!!!!!!

Bon - The same thing as you talk about with Nixon and his feeding happened with Lucie. She would NOT bf and each feed was a nightmare. She would scream and scream and it was v stressful. She was on Losec and Mylanta but honestly I don't think it did much. I really think there were other issues. We tried Neocate formula (prescribed by paed) but thta did nothing too. It was horrendous and lasted pretty much until I chucked the bottles away at 13 months. I cried so much every day! In hindsight I so wish that I had checked out every avenue, perhaps more alternative medicine like naturopathy etc. I sympathise totally with you and hope you get some answers soon and that things improve.

Runner - I've been to Japan twice -Osaka and Nagoya mainly. DH lived there for 2 years. Awesome place.

Can't remember who first posted about trying to walk their dog, but I have the same problem. I have a 10yo border collie who doesn't seem to be slowing down in her old age and just pulls at the leash. I don't really enjoy walking her at the best of times, and with a pram as well it's twice as hard. I admit I am a bad mum to her and don't walk her very often now.

Well, we're up in Brisbane at the moment visiting DH's sister. Max was great on the plane - only cried at the very end after we had landed. We took him to the footy last night (Collingwood v Brisbane). He was asleep at the start but soon woke up with all the noise. It was quite funny watching his face for the first 10 mins or so - every time the corwd yelled his poor mouth would turn down and unless DH or I talked to him he would scream. He soon got used to the noise though and even managed to sleep again for 20 mins or so in the third quarter. Everyone thought he was very cute in his Collingwood gear.

Gypsy - that was me hun who posted about our walk with the dog. Not only was our dog (she's nearly 4) pulling hard and dragging us along, as she was excited and doesnt get many walks !! :redface: these days.... but also Miss A screamed the entire 30mins!!!
She was just tired....BUT I need to lose weight so every day at 4:30pm I go for a walk with the pram and Ava needs to get used to that!!! LOL

Soph - glad you had a nice time bonding with your little Henry without the other kids. Good luck with all that washing :lol:

Mir - yeah it is so upsetting when they cry hey but especially in those first few weeks when your hormones are so up and down.... i would cry so easily. Now I just think "oh my goodness im trying hard to stop you crying and you wont!!" LOL

We've all got colds here :( DH, Ava and me.... possibly even the dog!!! :rolleyes:
So all feeling quite ordinary.... Ava being extra clingy poor thing needing more cuddles than usual....

We just got home from the shops and got a few things.... had a good time. I breastfed in the foodcourt SO PROUD OF MYSELF for not hiding away in stinky parents rooms.
I've come along way with the whole b.feeding thing... all the problems we've had etc. (2nd time doing that)

Haven't even attempted to walk with the pram and both dogs yet. I struggle with both dogs on their own, a black Lab who has anxiety issues with other dogs and an over-active 3 y/o golden retriever. They only come when DH is there to look after them, otherwise it's just Sam & I. Retriever is cute, she prances alongside the pram so proud of her little brother.

Ren - you have done so well with bf. It is a credit to you & Ava how far you have come. :clap: Hope you all get rid of your colds.

I've bf in public quite a few times now, mainly at restaurants & that is usually when Sam does his loudest burps though lol.

I've started doing a bit of work from home, just for family & close friends at the moment. It's good not to lose touch with everything & I can basically do as much or as little as I please and when Sam is sleeping or DH is home. Still not going back into the office though, will be a loooong time before I'm ready for that.

We got the keys to our new house yesterday & move in Fri 24th :dance: So much bigger, so exciting.

Can't believe my baby boy is 4 months old today!!!

Only a week tomorrow till Sam's Christening now, am really looking forward to it it's going to be a special day.

Sam is such a little giggler now, DH got home from work last night & changed his shirt just as I was walking into the bedroom holding Sam - well that was it he totally lost it and cackled and cackled. It was so cute - one of those moments you wish you could bottle and live every day for the rest of your life. We were in hysterics laughing at him and that just provoked him even more.

Tv fan here too, I try not to let him watch too much but it helps with getting him on the other side of his head seeing as he favours the left.

Thanks for the advice on breastmilk for stuffy noses (not sure who that was but thanks) - luckily Sam hasn't had a cold yet but am sure he will sooner or later so will keep that in mind.

I don't post much but still lurk and am always interested in how you are all going.

Mir - thanks for sending the weight loss website !! And and Mir - Amara is on liquid Zantac, 0.5 mls, 3 times a day. Seems to do the trick, she is MUCH, Much better.

And orangefeather - would love to support you on your weight loss challenge and anyone else! I know it may seem trivial to many that I have only 3kgs to lose, but it still is a very stubborn 3kgs, and I am so used to being a skinny typical runner type. But to lose 1kg in a week would be TOO much of a challenge for me, so I am going with losing 2 to 2.5kgs over the next 12 weeks - this is when the Half marathon is on.

Ren - keep trying with walking and Ava in the pram - don't let it discourage you - it is a great way to get into shape! I cannot wait to get Amara into our jogger and do some running - still have to wait a few more weeks until I think she can handle the bumps.

I have a head cold as well!! It is not nice at all, but could be worse I suppose.

soph - sounds like you had a lovely time over the last 2 weeks - I love Tassie. And great, you have been to Japan!! Would you say it is a baby friendly place to travel? That is, is accomodation only on mats and futons or can we get cots in the hotel rooms? What would August/September be like weather wise?? we are interested in cultural places and NOT big cities - so what do you suggest? thanks!

Runner - we had Sushi today (sushi train! Yumm) and DH said to me "let's go to Japan next Easter!" so we're thinking about it!!! Tokyo would be awesome to visit for 5 days as that is all we'll be able to manage.
We'll have to go for a walk with the prams one day soon hey? let's organise it soon.... you will help motivate me :D
In the meantime I'm walking at 4:30pm every day whether Ava likes it or not!! LOL unless of course she's feeding at that time....but generally she isn't.

AJC - happy 4mths to Sam!!! :D thats cute he's a real giggler now... they grow so fast and change so much each day and week dont they??

Well Ava is now sleeping more in her cot in the nursery now YAY!! We are slowly weaning her from the baby hammock that is in our room and so far it hasnt' been too hard at all! We thought it would be hard getting her to sleep in a different bed but nope.
I miss her though when she's not in our room with us. Most nights she is just when she won't settle properly in her hammock we try her in her own room and she is fine so we leave her in there until the middle of the night feed when we bring her back with us.

Had a lazy Sunday today.... haven't done much... although did vacuum and mop the floors as it badly needed it!!!
We are getting a "Bumbo" for Ava in the next couple of weeks.... she's nearly strong enough in her neck and head to sit in one now.

I have just tried Amara in the jogger - she fits well, but will wait another 2 weeks or so until I can jog with her slowly...

Runner - a bumbo is an infant seat... mostly used for babies 3mths+ they sit up in it. Can use it for feeding etc later on too.... get them at babies galore etc. google it and you'll see pics. we just ordered one from Ebay!!
Yay! Another Sushi-addict! You and me will have to go for a walk with the prams one day then go for Sushi in Coolangatta like we did today :)
ps Ava is too small to sit in the 3wheeler pram seat so i still have the bassinet attachment on it.... she rolls around in there!! LOL

Ren - Sorry, I do remember now that it was you saying about the dog and Ava crying. Mum and I took Max and my nephew for a walk with the dog a few weeks ago. I totally lost track of what time it was and we got about 10 mins down the road and Max started crying. Turns out it was feed time - oops! So he cried all the way back till I fed him.

AJC - Those giggles sound cute! Max is giggling, but usually it's kind of talking and smiling at the same time, not quite a proper giggle yet. But last night when I was feeding him and trying to get him down for the night, he fell asleep on the boob (which he usually does) and was giving smiles (which he also often does). Then when I took him off, he did a full on giggle, and he was asleep! It was sooo cute. Unfortunately, I was annoyed with DH who was in the room (we're all sharing a room while we're away) and kept snoring or coughing or sneezing every time Max was nearly asleep and waking him up again. So, cos I was annoyed, I didn't appreciate the giggle as much as I would have done at any other time.

MummyDeb - Sorry, I forgot to welcome you when I posted earlier. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Soph - Sounds like you had a great holiday. I imagine it would have been great to have some one on one time with Henry.

Ren and Runner: My Bumbo was the best money I ever spent on DD.....love it! She still now, at nearly 2, will sit in it to watch TV or when we are out at a BBQ (beats sitting on the ground). Be sure to get the tray as well. Toys'r'us have a great special (in QLD) on the Bumbo and tray at the moment. I have an aqua one. Here is a pic of DD when she was 6 months old in her Bumbo.

Been busy this week so not much time....
i feel yuk atm,i have a shocking ear n throat infection grrrrr,i have stabbing pain in my left ear...ouch so not expecting much sleep
Nixon is doing well,the Losec must have kicked in,we still get catnapping during day but the sleeps have and are improving..ive also been giving him Brauers stomach calm,been great as an alternative therapy for reflux...We also went back to his original formula which was Heinz nurture 1 gold and Karicare gold plus adding the karicare thickener to his bottles,its worked a treat,hes now having around 150 ml and finishing his bottles,,,so much happier,the car trips are still a little issue but have improved so much!!!
My boys 3 months old today..yay
cant wait for him to sleep thru the night,.he goes bed around 7-8pm,had dreamfeed at 11pm sleeps til 3or 4am wakes for feed then sleeps til 7-8am...not too bad,im not comparing but everyone else i know with kids same age has them sleeping right through from 11pm-8am????????? i bloody wish!! hes a good kid though so cant complain,hes such a talker(like his mum)some of the noises now,omg!!! they are so funny
anyways im off to get some food,nurofen+ and try sleep early night as im gonna have a hell of a night with my earache..

Hey, I think your little one is doing well in the sleeping department. Amara gets feed about 7.30pm and goes until about 2am and then wakes at 5.30 and then I feed her as the sun is coming up -about 5.45am...

Ladies - 2 questions - first, dreamfeeders - so does this mean you wake your bubba up to feed? do they generally feed well or are too sleepy sometimes??

second - going to their own room - when did you do this? I am starting to think Amara may be ready to go her room to sleep and this may help us all.... she is 11 weeks this week.

Runner - the dream feed is where you pick up your baby from their sleep but don't wake them.... don't talk to them or unwrap them and just feed them with the bottle or breast. It's easier I think when you feed them with the bottle.... i've done both. breast is harder i think!! lol but it takes practise i guess... i tend to fumble around too much when getting ready to breastfeed haha! i give DD her dream feed at 10pm each night unless she's awake then i just feed her normally.
With a dreamfeed no need to burp them just put them straight back down and go to bed... cos they dont' take in much air when they have a dream feed as they arent gulping iykwim? hope that helps.

Bon - my DD is about the same with her sleeping. will only sleep 4-5hrs then wake for a feed usually... lucky if i get 5-6hrs sleep straight thru.... it will happen one day..... they are still so young. hang in there. good work with the formula etc working better for him.

Well best be off... Ava is having her 830-930 sleep now (bit late today!!) and in there talking to herself wanting me to come back in lol but i'm not... she's not crying so she's ok to be left. When she starts crying i'll go in. (if she does!) In the meantime must get some work done around the house.....

Oh! And last night it was sooooo cute... DH upset Ava when he sneezed and was holding her and she had the coathanger bottom lip happenign so cute and he went "awwww sorry Ava" and she kept on with the lip just about crying, i walk over and say "ooooh poor Ava" and she then started bawling!!!! LOL it was funny cos she saw me and heard me so then she started... i picked her up cuddled her and she stopped!!! hehe i think these babies are smarter than we realise ;)

REN - lol on the dream feed with the breast - I've tried it a few times with Ella but inevitably i end up waking her up! - She still feeds normally but am yet to be able to put her down without burping!!

Quick question ladies - is anyone else finding that their bub doesnt like tummy time? - I've done tummy time with Ella since she was 5 weeks, but the last 2 weeks she just cries and fights it - the longest i can leave her is about 2 mins and thats with all the toys and propping her up with a rolled up towel!! - her head control is really good even without the tummy time, but you read so much (and get told by the MCHN) how important it is for their development that im starting to worry now that her neck muscles will go weak again :doh: - any suggestions?

Dreamfeed has never worked on R so we don't bother now MCHN said that sometimes it works better when bubs gets older so might try again in a month or so

With tummy time R isnt so bad but we have to do it after his woken up but before a feed so very small window of acceptable tummy time.

Gill our pead told us that you can't tell the difference between bubs who have had tummy time and bubs that haven't at 18 months so don't feel bad some of the other things you can do that seem to be working for us are if you hold bubs high on ur shoulder so arms and head are above ur shoulder they are exercising neck muscles. you can also prop them up on a pillow at a high angle the same way. If you have a bath together the kicking strenthens legs and back or she might be happy to lie on ur chest in the bath and push up

gotta go R is squirming around trying to have a convo lol he sounds like his telling me off for not being there to stare lovingly at him

On the dreamfeed, Harley will have one if he hasn't had a feed by 8pm, so sort of either when I go to bed if its a late night, or generally I wake around 11.30 - 12pm for a toilet break and he is sort of stirring so I get a bottle and feed him then. He pretty much stays asleep for it. Do any of u dreamfeeding change as well? I have been but I find his nappy isn't even full...

On moving rooms, we haven't done that yet as DP still has to paint the old cot and put it back together!! I swear he is running out of time!! I wanted it painted as its white and Charlotte was a biter and it has bite marks everywhere, looks shocking!

Hope all of u with colds are feeling better!! I just have a headache that comes and goes, but I think its to do with my neck being out. I really need to have it looked at, just hesitant about it as I dont want it any worse. But DP has a good chiropractor so will see him when I get round to it.
Harley has a lil bit of cradle cap, the chemist guy said to just put baby oil in his hair and comb it and hopefully it will clear up, otherwise they have some stuff to treat it. I never experienced this before!

Gill our pead told us that you can't tell the difference between bubs who have had tummy time and bubs that haven't at 18 months so don't feel bad some of the other things you can do that seem to be working for us are if you hold bubs high on ur shoulder so arms and head are above ur shoulder they are exercising neck muscles. you can also prop them up on a pillow at a high angle the same way. If you have a bath together the kicking strenthens legs and back or she might be happy to lie on ur chest in the bath and push up

Thanks Mir - i think im just getting "over anxious 1st time mummyitis!":lol: - as i have done the things you mentioned and Ella seems to enjoy them so maybe its just that she doesnt like being flat flat on her tummy - i know she enjoys it more with a pillow but i thought being elevated wouldn't allow her to use the muscles as much! - I'll keep up with the pillow and carrying her high :D - thanks again!

Gill - don't worry Ava doesn't like much tummy time either! some days 2mins, other days 5mins but usually 5mins tops. they say try to do it in small intervals throughout the day so 2mins here and there... i never find there is enough time in the day for that though with feeding and settling and nappy changes etc!! lol but i try.
all the other stuff like carrying them on your shoulder etc is great. I'm sure Ella has a strong little neck! and i'm glad i'm not the only one that fumbles around with the dreamfeed trying to get the boob out and not wake DD!!! :rofl:
Mummydeb - I'll only change my DD if she has a really soaking nappy. if its pretty dry i dont bother. if shes already awake then i will.

Ooohhh I have a headache. Ava has been awake since 12 midday and only just went down :( talk about a long afternoon..... visited a friend at her place so it shook her routine a bit... it's hard tho cos' you can't stay home all the time!!!!

Off to clean the loo's before DH gets home *sighs*... DH has cooked a lovely meal in the crockpot i just put in the oven for him.... mmm smells good!!! I need to cook more....

dreamfeed-bout 11 or 12 we dont wake him,i do 3am-4am feed n change his bum only if hes had a big dreamfeed,most nyts i do,he is going back to sleep otherwise he hates wet or pooey nappy....
im gonna get one of them rubber seat things(BUMBO) u lot been going on about.seen one today n its ideal......

Hi Ladies......

Just had a very unsettled Henry, not like him at all. He's got a shocking cough atm and is overtired I think - hasn't had a decent length sleep today. Last night though he slept 8.5 hours :clap: Biggest sleep ever - I think 'cos he is unwell and needs the recovery. Anyway it was great except that I lay in bed for hours wondering whyhe wasn't waking :rolleyes:

Runner - Not sure about travelling with kids in Japan - all our travel ws pre-kids when we were ignorant to all those things! People are mega helpful though and lovely so I reckon you'd be ok.

H doesn't have much tummy time either but is strong too. Don't stress too much ladies unless there is a specific need too I say!

Mmmm might geta bumbo too - they look good! Lucie and Ned will steal it I'm sure they - it's the first thing they both grab when we visit the baby shop.

And BF and dreamfeeds - did it with Ned and it worked a treat, but yeah he was probably a bit older. Don't do it at all with H. I'm more inclined just to let them sleep these days!

Ava HATES sitting in her carseat!!! As soon as I put her in before we go out she starts crying!!! Everytime! Even if it's just after a feed, after a sleep, after play etc no matter when I put her in, she hates it. Anyway, Mum suggested I buy some relaxation music for the car because car trips can be quite stressful when Ava is screaming and almost stops breathing :(
On the weekend DH and I bought 2 "Baby Einstein" music cd's, one for her nursery and one for the car..... well, well, well.... one of the BEST things we've ever bought ;)
I recommend them!! They are classical music.... and so relaxing and I don't mind listening to it either! We play it when she wakes up to start her day and in the evening when it's time for bed and winding down time.... seems to work a treat!! She listens to it and even falls asleep at times! It's really good for their development (music). We are going to get the DVD's aswell....

Hope everyone has a nice day. We're off to the health clinic today for a talk on "baby massage" and to get Ava weighed. Hopefully she's put on some more weight. I get nervous!! :lol: as we aren't doing as many top up feeds.

Max hates tummy time as well! I started him on it fairly early, cos my nephew didn't like it and I was trying to get Max used to it before he knew what he liked and didn't like :) Well, to start with he was fine, and then the MCHN told me I needed to do it more and ever since then he's hated it! We're lucky if we get him to stay for 2 mins. His neck is getting stronger though - he can hold it up fine if he's over our shoulder or something, so I'm not worrying too much. We go to the health centre again on Thurs though, so will see what she says.

Ladies, I don't think I told you that I started mother's group last week, finally! I could only stay for half an hour as we had to leave for our holiday. Also in that time I had to feed Max. Well, I think we made ourselves memorable, even apart from having to leave early - Max did some really loud farts and everyone heard! Oh wel, at least while they're this young it's just funny :)

This dreamfeed thing sounds interesting. Max doesn't feed when he's asleep. Eg this morning he woke at 6.30 after an 8 hour sleep (the first in about a week) and had one side then fell asleep. Usually he wakes when I change his nappy, but not today. Thought I'd try the other side anyway, but he paid no attention and just went on sleeping. Instead of a dreamfeed I usually give him 2 feeds reasonably close together - one whenever he wakes up (I guess usually around 7-8) and then another when he's starting to get tired again, around 9.30-10. I feed him to sleep then and he usually sleeps for at least 4-5 hours. So I guess that's working for us.

We head home from our holiday today and I have to say that, although it has been nice visiting DH's sister, I will be very glad to get home and back into a routine. It's also been hard as SIL has a dog that is alwasy inside, so we've had to watch Max or hold him constantly, instead of being able to leave him on his mat to do his own thing.

ETA I just tried tummy time while propped up on a pillow and it was much more successful than usual! Thanks for the tip!

Gypsy - we recently started mothers group at the health clinic also!! Don't worry :lol: the first time we went (2 weeks ago) Ava kept farting and I'm sure the ladies either side of me were smelling it hehe I hope they didnt think it was me!!! haha!! Do your mum's meet after for coffee? Our group will be doing this soon so that should be fun. Just need someone to organise it....one Mum to say "cmon girls lets go" hehe Our group is on Tues 2-3pm so today it's on, i look forward to getting out of the house.

That's a great idea whoever suggested the pillow with tummy time. I might try that when DD wakes up!

Who else here takes photos almost every day of your little one? They grow too fast in just a week so i try to take pics almost every day!!!! :D

Hello everyone! I have had a busy 2 days...have been at the hospi with DD with 40+ temps that we couldn't get down with panadol. She is OK now, except that she has lost 500g. She now only weighs 9.9 at nearly 2 years old. They said she is nearly 4kg underweight for her height (she is tall) and was asked a lot of questions. Anway, they think she may be a celiac and have labelled her failure to thrive. We have a few follow up appointments but will be getting second opinions. We had bloods tests galore so will see what comes back. Dash was a dream being passed around all the nurses and then eventually hubby and family when it came apparent that we were staying for a while. God bless him....it would have been a nightmare if he had not 'played the game' yesterday. He is a bit sad today because obviously with all the meds he takes, he became a little muddled yesterday with different people taking charge but we will get past that.


As for dreamfeeds. I could feed DD when she was asleep but as I mentioned earlier this week, Dash can't do more than two things at once - that includes sleeping and feeding at the same time! I am lucky that I don't need to do this with him anyway. It is a very quick way of feeding bubs at night. Never really thought about dreamfeeding when breastfeeding....sounds a little harder.

Ren: Both my kidlets went straight into their own cot in their own room first night home from hospi (our choice and it works for us but got criticised a lot for doing it)....with music as a background. I agree about bubs relaxing and them settling well with it, especially in the car. I was part of a study when having DD. We had to play the same classical song from 18 weeks until birth and see if it had any soothing effects when bubs was born. I did the same with DS. Well, the results are in and it does (for me anyway). Both DD and DS self settle to the same CD practically from when they were first home. The actual study results are swaying this way as well. Maybe a fluke....maybe not he he. I know my bubs are bottle fed but most bubs in the study were breastfed with similar results. Well done on working out that Ava loves the music....maybe she will be a musician??

GTG....starting to over talk again...but being isolated in a hospi (yes, we were in an isolation unit) leaves you a little needy for conversation. TTFN xx

ETA: Gypsy: Hope you enjoy mothers group. You may be lucky to find a great new mummy friend. I did and it is so nice to have someone understanding you can vent with that 'gets it'. LOL about the loud farts - go Max!! Better out than in he he.

Oh Ren...I have found that I don't take as many photos of Dash...I feel really bad. Just not as much time....now to find the excuse when he is older and points this out (bad mummy he he). A good photo to take is one about 3 or 4 months with their size in comparison to a pillow. You put their head at one end of the pillow and straighten them out with feet pointing to the other end. It gives you a good indication of size. We should all take one at the same time and have a look see at how much our little ones have grown!!

pulling on his ears
no temp but he has quite a bad dribble rash around his neck

wow been busy in here ladies! - won't attempt personals :redface:

not much happening with me, had my first mothers group today and only me and two other mums showed up - what the?? - there was apparently meant to be 9 of us, but 3 of mums rang the lady running it to say they couldn't make it and the other 3 just didnt show up..hmm..not really leaving a good impression on me ;) - the other two mums were really nice though and the bubs all similar in age give or take 2 weeks :)

Mir - could be a growth spurt? - i know when Ella is going through one she is alot more unsettled and reverts back to 2-3 hr feeds as opposed to her normal 4-5hr feeds...maybe see your paed or GP if you're concerned?
