    Morning Ladies,

Orange: Aren't solids a god-send?! We were having some trouble with Caiden for awhile there..he would drink half a bottle and push it away with complete irratation..but still being so hungry. We thought he was in pain so we got infacol etc..but just turns out he is bored of his bottle and it wasn't satisfying him. He couldn't believe how amazing farex was when he first ate it! The concentration and satisfaction on his face was fantastic. With doctors advice, as long as he is getting his recommended 5 bottles a day he can eat as much solids as he likes. So he is eating 2 bowls a day and much, much happier. I'll just stick with Farex until 6months then add vegies, fruit etc.

DisGirl: I have a little chatterbox on my hands also! He just shrieks in happiness..so louldy and repetitivley it kind of gets too much at times lol but I much prefer happy yelling than crying!!

Caiden's sleeping patterns are bitter sweet. He is an excellent night sleeper, has been since about 6 weeks. Going to bed around seven and up between 5-6 which is wonderful. During the day however is an absoloute nightmare. He is a severe cat-napper and refuses to sleep unless I am holding him. He can sleep up too two hrs in my arms..but anywhere from 30secs-10mins in his cot. This wouldnt worry me so much if he didnt look and act so sleep deprived. He has had black and purple rings under his eyes for weeks. We have construction going on in our street so I think he may wake because of the noise at times, and also we are in the process of darkening his room as it is quite bright. All these factors contribute i am sure. BUT on the weekend, I bought the rainforest soother/mobile/music box and in the last 24 hrs he has slept amazing during the day. It was money well spent!

Any suggestions on teaching a bub how to sleep without having to be in your arms? We tried putting him in his cot and just patting his tummy on the weekend and not picking him up..and he absoloutly screamed. Gagging, vomiting, not breathing the works. We probably lasted 10mins and couldnt continue. My dp left the room crying he couldnt take it!!!! I have never been one for controlled crying...

I can't remember now who suggested the jolly jumper for Caiden (sorry!) but we did get one a few months ago and he looooooooooves it! Thanks for the tip

I hear caiden crying...oh well that was a half n hr nap at least!

Give all your bubs a kiss from me!

    Take care xxx

ps. thanks to all who read my birth story and left your beautiful comments.

Oh my gosh Gypsy, 12 months apart would almost be like twins! Two bubbas! I'm finding the 21 months between my boys really good, I'd like the same again

Runner, cloth are going really well for us. Like Gypsy, we don't use them at night, but after I FINALLY got my latest fitteds from BBH, Jared is now in cloth all day every day, just like his brother Our bin is so much emptier now every week

Caiden'smummy, Jared is a daytime catnapper too. Ben was at this age as well and thankfully turned into a fantastic daytime napper. He has only just now stopped having four-hour naps every day and is down to about 2.5 hours I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Jared will follow in his footsteps when he gets a little older. I'll see how he goes with solids, I think that helped Ben a bit, but it could just have been him getting older.

We had a marvellous night here last night. Jared slept from 7:15pm until 3:15am and then straight back down until 8:15 this morning! Ben also slept for 12 hours! They have one happy mummy this morning! My poor boobies though!!! SOOOOO full.

We're having a day at home today, I'm getting all my washing up to date before another predicted week of rain Tomorrow we'll head off to the clinic for a weigh and a chat.

    Hi all,
I haven't posted for ages and ages. I have been lurking though. I've been madly trying to complete my school work, i'm 3/4 of the way through so I should be finished by the end on the month. I'm also getting a website up and am starting to promote my new business. Crazy times.

On to the real stuff. Fin is a dream. He sleeps from 7-6 every night (he does wake at 2 if going through a growth spurt, but that is only for about 4 days every month.) He giggles and smiles at everything. It is the funniest thing to see his little face get all pensive when the stranger he has just smiled at didn't see him. he will lean forward in the pram to try and get their attention then smile again. crazy kid. He has started to fall to one side when he is playing with his feet, so i'm assuming there is a roll coming. He also likes to put his fingers in my mouth when he is feeding. I only let him do it at the night feed but it is soooooo cute.

Head kisses to all the little ones, there my favourite as their heads are so warm.

Just quickly - Caiden's - I was having a lot of trouble getting Max to sleep without bouncing him to sleep on the fitball. Had booked in to sleep school, but then my cousin showed me a few tricks she had learned at sleep school, so I was able to cancel my appointment.

Basically, what she told me is, you put bub on their side, lay your arm across their body so they can't wiggle and squirm toooo much, then gently pat in a heartbeat rhythm and 'sshhh' at the same time. Can take a few minutes of crying, but at least you're there comforting them at the same time. The trick is not to give in too early - just when you think you've had enough, keep going for another minute and you might just find he quietens down.

Also, if he wakes up again before he should, go back in and do the same thing again. The quicker youget in there (i.e. before he wakes up too much) the more success you'll probably find you have. (However, I also found that this encourages you to go in rather than letting them try to resettle themself, so how are they supposed to learn? So I don't do that so much anymore, but I did in the early days.)

Another thing I had to learn to do with Max was something to quieten him down before we go off to bed. For us this just involves him sitting on my knee while I sing Rock A Bye Baby. We then go into his room and turn lights off etc while I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

It may not work for you, but it sure has for me. I can often now put Max down awake and he will put himself to sleep. It's great!

Good luck, hope that all helps.

gypsy-your an angel! Thankyou so much...will certainly give your suggestions a go. Fingers crossed! Glad you found something that works for you He has been a little better these last few days. I have darkened the room which i think makes all the difference, and I have also gone back to wrapping him so that when I put him down he still feels the sensation of being held tight. He has also taken to his dummy again (refused for a month or so there) which helps, not to mention the music box we have now. He loves it. Thanks so much again. Much appreciated..i'll let you know how it goes.

    Love to you all.

Hello! Sorry I have been awol

All the bubs sound great! I love when they get older and start showing more personality.

12 months between bubs less than 13 months between my older 2 and yeap it's hard early, but great now. They are such good friends and play well together (mostly!)

H is a shocking sleeper. Cat napper during the day but overnight has been horrendous latelty. Tossing and turning all night and feeding too. Last night was HEAPS better though. When I say that though he wakes every 3-4 hours for a feed still but that is so much better than it was! I can handle that fine.

He's a big boy. 8kg now. Rolling like a trooper and pushing his legs like he wants to crawl. No solids here yet until at least 6 months. It's so much easier not doing solids. I am lazy

Anyway it's a decent arvo so taking the kids for a run to the park. It might rain later. Better feed the boy and make a run.......

No solids here yet until at least 6 months. It's so much easier not doing solids. I am lazy
I hear you on that Soph I said to DH just the other night that I'm not looking forward to solids again. It's my own fault though as I don't like to give my kids the packaged baby food and make it all myself. It's also so much easier when you can run out the door with nothing but your boobies Ah well, I suppose we have to start them eventually Jared also doesn't really need any help in gaining weight right now. Was 9.3kgs this morning and he was due for a feed too. He's only 1kg lighter than his cousin who turns one next week. He doesn't look fat though, he's just big all over 68cms too.

We had another brilliant night last night. Looks like he's really found his routine now. I LOVE sleeping in until 8am too. If you'd told me that was possible with a two year old and a 5 month old a year ago I would have laughed at you

Ah Dis can I punch you now????? THat's great about Jared's sleep - v v jealous! And wow he must be off the charts! Certainly nothing wrong with your milk supply That is what Lucie weighed at 1. Yes I agree too re going out of the house with just your boobies. So so so easy. We can stay out all day as long as I have nappies! Love it. I'm certainly going to take it slowly with solids. Both Lucie and Ned weren't really interested until they are 1 so I'm kinda hoping Henry won't be either and I won't stress.

Anothere decent night from Henry last night. I've been dairy and gluten free for over 2 months now and I really think it's dairy that's the prob for him. A friend was making me some cake that she said was dairy and gluten free but I later discovered after I had some sneaking suspicions (because he was a nightmare the nights I ate it) that oops it has a heap of butter and evaporated milk in it. Grrrrr. Oh well she thought she was doing me a favour, and I guess I at least know now. So missing milkshakes though./.....usually I'm a dairy freak!

Soph, what a bummer about that cake! At least you know what the problem was.

Sorry, yes you may punch me I've had my fair share of shockers though, so I'm glad things are finally settling down for me. I've had to cut out garlic and onions and a certain preservative to get where I am though, it's amazing what us bfing mums do to get a good nights' sleep! Yet another great night last night, but I'm wondering how I'll ever get out of the house before midday now. Jared didn't get up until almost 10am this morning. Brilliant for a sleep in, not so good if we were planning on going out. I might have to slowly shift his bedtime forward.

Jared was at the top of his cot this morning! He sleeps on his tummy (I know, I know, it's against SIDS regs) and had wriggled right up so that his head was touching the top bars. He probably has a headache, poor baby!

Dis - Henry is a tummy sleeper too. I did stop it but he was totally unsettled and he can roll easily now and is very strong so i feel more comfortable with it. What preservative did you cut out by the way? I'm v interested in all that stuff.....

Hi lovely girls!! I'm so sorry I haven't posted in here in about probably 3 or 4 weeks?!?! Lost track... time gets away and i've been so busy.

Just a quick update! DD started swimming lessons 2 weeks ago, every Thurs and she loves it! As do I! On her first lesson the instructor even took her under the water several times!! At one stage, let go of DD and she was on her own under water briefly before i caught her.... it was amazing watching her! She was a natural.... they say the sooner you start the better so we decided to start as soon as we could (4mths). Most swim schools start 6mths but this one is 4mths!
We have it again today and I can't wait!! The class is only up to 6 kids max too! And DD is the youngest!! I grew up in the water swimming so hopefully DD does too. Who knows one day it may just save her life (but hopefully she is never in that situation).

DD sleeps from 630pm at night til usually about 4am int he morning when she wakes for a feed then goes back to bed til 7am! No complaints here.... she is doing wonderfully. Esp for a BF baby thats' great. As for day sleeps.... some days are good others not so good but we can't complain as she sleeps well at night.
We've had some drooling and white gums at the moment and some irritability so we think she may be getting her first tooth soon... time will tell! She loves those cold teething rings anyway.
She is rolling a bit more now and so very strong now. A real chatterbox too! Loves chatting away to herself and to us and she doesn't cry in the car anymore! Instead, she just falls asleep if she's tired instead of screaming YAY!!! She's adapted to it.

    That's our quick update!!

I had a quick read of your posts the last page, and seems you are doing really well and your bubs are too. thats' great to hear. I'm sorry i havent been more active in this thread, TBH i am hardly on BB anymore either... just don't really have the time for it anymore with DD growing so fast and not sleeping much in the daytime I don't get much computer time during the day.

DD is full time cloth nappies and we LOVE them! They are so addictive.... we mainly have AIO's and pockets. some AI2's also!! My favourites at the moment are the Green Kids and the BumG's. and Pop ins!

ANyway i hope to check back on you all again soon

    Hi all

Havent been in here 4 a while as i have done the big move and what not and have been quite ill.
Been getting severe migraines and becoming a mental case when i get my period so am off for catscan and hormone test, had prob with hormones b4 preggers so need to see a specialist as ive had my thyroid out and its all linked with your pituatary gland..lets just say ive had one now 4 days so bad that hubby has had to stay home from work, that and my size dd-e boobs dont help,i have to lose weight and soon, though i dont wanna yet as i bought the most gorgeous dress to wear to friends wedding and nixon's baptism so will wait til the day after that then start the diet n excercise.
    Nixon is been a dream...
He just loves his solids,we are on bottle and organic rice cereal,i have just bought a new food processor so will start making baby food for him as well as the organic shelf stuff from supermarket,i refuse to feed him the normal baby food they sell.
He is sleeping like a trooper, down at 7pm,feed about 1am give or take and sleeps thru til 7am...Solids have made a huge diff,we give him bottle and solids at 630pm and it works better than just milk....he still catnaps during the day but by about the 3rd round of catnaps thats it he out for 2 hours or so,doesnt worry me as long as he sleeping at night.
He is still quite small compared to most babies, tho hes very long and thin, long legs and arms but eats real well, the reflux is settling now we on solids..He did very well re-settling after our house move, hes a bit cranky lately but i think teething about to start as hes drooling, red cheeks n cranky pants.chewing on everything...hes a funny happy spunky little kid, still wont sleep unless swaddled and arms in,if he gets em out he wakes up sooking til u put em back in...ill be swaddling him til hes 18 at this rate..lol
We gonna start swimming lessons next month, his uncles have paid for him to have lessons for his baptism present..we get him baptised august 23rd,am looking forward to that..
anyway hope you all doing well, ill pop back in soon, cant keep up with u all,,,
    cheers sonya

    So quiet in here!

We've been having an interesting week. Jared is now sitting up by himself, which is really helpful. Although, I am a little reluctant to leave him sitting by himself without me in the room just in case he has a fall. His sleeps have all changed and now he's sleeping better in the day, but his nights have gone downhill to only a five hour stretch at the longest. I preferred it when he didn't sleep during the day and gave me seven hours at night! Today has been different again though as he's gone back to catnapping during the day.

Oh well, I've gotta go. It's getting to that time of the day where I have to try and juggle two kids, baths and dinner all at the same time!

    Hope you're all well

yep v quiet in here.....everyone must be busy.

Dis - that's great Jared is sitting up. H is a while off that but will be much happier when he can I think. was going to get a bumbo but not really much point, only prob another month and he should be sitting.

kids have all had croup and H has it now....hoping we don't need to go to hospital. Supposed to be off on hols Friday Been locked inside for a week now!

Soph, what exactly is croup? Doesn't sound good at all. Hope you guys get away on holidays alright.

Yep, J is really steady now sitting up and I left him for a few minutes today and he was fine. Ben sat up by himself really early too, right around this age but then didn't crawl until 9 months old, so I'm hoping for the same thing with Jared! I'm not ready for him to start getting into stuff just yet!!!

    Hello everyone!

WOW it is quiet in here but I guess we are all enjoying our little ones!

Dis: Happy 5 months to little J! Isn't he a clever boy sitting up already!

Soph: You seem to be having a tough time with sickness at the moment. Croup is a terrible thing and I have fingers and toes crossed that you all stay away from the hospital. Hope everyone gets well soon.

Caidens, MelA and Gypsy: Nice to read that things are going well and you are enjoying your little boys...they certainly are precious.

Ren; You have done a wonderful job with little Ava and your breastfeeding issues (says the breastfeeding pro he he). You should very proud of yourself.

To everyone else: A BIG HELLO!!

AFM: It's Miss Z's bday today. A BIG 2 years old.....where did that time go? We are having a teddy bears picnic on the weekend so that should be fun. DD and little man are interacting so well and their favourite game is peek-a-boo. The giggling and laughing that goes on is hilarious. Dash is up on his elbows and knees rocking away, sometimes moving in reverse he he.....so not long now. He even holds his head up in the crawl position so now he only needs to get onto his hands and he's off!! He doesn't need to crawl anyway because he can roll to wherever he needs to go...just need to watch where we are walking atm as he comes rolling like a barrel down a hill!! So, baby proofing very soon in this house (again). I am worried about sultanas and the like on the floor from DD so I think it will be harder this time around. Time will tell.

Well nothing more on the weightloss. Having really been trying. We have been busy doing a big house cleanout so it is back on next week after plenty of birthday cake.

So will leave it there til next time. Take care everyone!

Orange, Happy Birthday to little Miss Z!!!! I hope she doesn't get right into the terrible twos for you. Ben was in the terrific twos until this week and now he's decided he will question all our decisions and choices for him We're hearing 'No' an awful lot. He's always been such a compliant little guy so it's taking some getting use to!
Have fun at the Teddy Bear's picnic
I've decided to do something about my weight now too. I'd like to lose around 10kgs. I hit an all time high on the weekend so am trying to beat my sugar addiction. I gave up all my biscuits and ice cream as of Sunday. Have been having shocking headaches until today, which was the first day without a withdrawal headache. Seriously, my addiction was really, really bad! I was a two pack a dayer - being biscuits not cigarettes! I put on 5kgs in two months! Enough is enough so it's time to get back to a healthier weight

Hi everybody else. Hope you're all well and your bubbas are all thriving.
