I got an avent manual one and tried to use it last night but couldnt get any milk out even though it was coming out so easy when I tried to hand express some. Maybe I'll just try it and different times and maybe when im feeding off the other boob to get some. The woman in th baby shop said we had to buy the bottles for it separately so we did but got home and opened te pack and there was 2 in it... Can;t understand why she did that!
We were out for a really long time last night ( not through any choice of mine) and I think Larissa just got so tried that she got herself into a right mess and cried for ages even when I had done everything I could think to settle her. I think seeing her like that made me the saddest I'd ever been!
Yeah I am the same Steph, my heart breaks when I hear JD scream and cry. But nurse said that crying to us means pain and sadness but to babies its not always about pain and sadness. This is their ONLY way of communicating so sometimes we just need to understand that they are just trying to talk and that is their only language. I'd like to say that helped but my instincts still is to get upset when he is upset. best thing to do is give Larissa to Tris and get a breath of fresh air and come back when your calm down.
By the way I have the Avent Travel electric pump. It has a belt clip so I can walk around the house while pumping. Although it looks funny cause I have one hand holding the pump on my boob. i try to do it while JD is asleep or when DH is feeding him so I can relax while doing it.
I gave JD 100ml of breast milk that I pumped yesterday for his morning feed and he wanted more so I put him on the boob for another 15 minutes and it was only then that he started drifting off again. Man this kid is going to eat me out of house and home! (ha ha) as long as he is happy I don't care how much he eats, but I will laugh if the nurse says he has put on heaps more weight when she comes back again next week.
When will they start to want to play, what age do they want to interact with you? I can't wait to see him smile and play!
Amanda you can start tummy time with JD...from memory my girls started smiling around 7-8 weeks of age....
Had a bit of a chucky night....bought up most of his bottle...think cos he had a lot of junky stuff on his chest....i was coated in vomit....and then when i changed his bum i got hosed down...along with my bed spread, clothes and legs...LOL On the upside he then slept from 1am-7am and gone back to bed at 730 and still asleep now!!
I have now linked Zachs name in my siggy to his personal picture gallery too!
Oh yeah...his eye is still crappy, so took him to the dr's last night...for them to say a dr wont see him cos he isnt on our Medicare card yet, so id have to pay $53....which i was fine about doing, then their EFTPOS was down so i was told id have ot go get cash out then come back....stuff that...i left and now trying the BM trick to see if it helps. Til last night id just being using Fess Little Eye wipes with no luck.
Well we think that infants friend is helping JD. He seems to get his wind up a lot easier and when he was with nan for most of yesterday she said he was burping and farting like a trooper. So thats great that he behaved for them, as I was quiet anxious about that. Although as soon as we came to pick him up he started screaming, talk about getting a complex! They came over later for dinner as well and he was playing up again, but we eventually got him down. He was just tired though and fighting it.
I was apart from him from 11am till about 4.30pm and at first I just sat around feeling like something was missing it just felt wrong! Until I called a couple of times to check he was doing ok and when I knew he was sound asleep and happy then I was able to relax. But I was busting to see him when we finally got home. Then all I wanted was cuddles and all I got was crying and screaming then DH came and took him off me so I felt a bit jilted. I have to say although this may sound strange, it was nice to be away from JD for a little while cause it made me realise how much I love him and miss him, even when he is crying. Does that make sense?
Anyway, we took so long cause we had to swing past Good Guys and pick up a small portable air conditioner cause we just can't seem to keep JD's room cool enough for him to sleep in unless it almost midnight. Otherwise it seems to be around the 27 degree and higher mark most of the day and he gets way too hot! DH is going to try and install it today for him. Man we have spent more money than we expected to lately. I thought we were prepared but I was wrong.
P.S. JD has an appointment with my chiropractor on Friday. The nurse suggested it cause babies get so curled up in the womb that a little adjustment if needed can really help with digestive and wind problems. I know my chiropractor treats babies and she has worked wonders on me and DH so will be interesting to see how it goes. I hope he finds it helpful.
Hi ladies. I hope you and your darling bubbies are all doing really well.
Amanda glad you are finding Infants friend to help. Ive never used it myself but it does seem to be quite popular. Hope the chiro can help with your little guy..poor darling. Wow on getting out too ..big day ...glad he was good for your nan.
Tash glad you found us. Happy three weeks to Judd. Hope you are having fun settling in as a family of 5.
Kim sorry you have had some chucky days. Hope Zacs eye is clearing up. Ive had that with Sammy and just used to squirt him with breast milk lol..it seemed to help it clear up.
Awww Steph, its heartbreaking when they do cry isnt it.
Hows Ryley going Kirsten?
Gosh Sarah thats awful for little Xavier. Hope you get some answers soon. Does he drain the breast fully...i know frothy yellow poos can also be from not getting the hind milk..ive always had a fast let down so have had to make sure bubs drains the breast before offering the other one.
Well weve had a lovely week. Ruby is a dream, shes such a calm placid baby. Shes feeding well..every 2 hours around the clock which is causing a bit of sleep deprivation but she rarely cries, is putting on weight and just enjoying being adored! Hope you are all having a lovely Australia day! We are heading into town later for the fireworks and festival..kids are getting showbags etc. I will sling Ruby so think she will be fine with all the loud noises..fingers crossed anyways!
