    HI!

I guess I"m the first of the Jan mums to get in here.... I should go raise a crew.

well Little Luxxe is 5 days old and just such a good baby.

she's feeding really well and sleeps brilliantly! She's doing 5 hour sleeps with big feeds lasting up to 2 hours....

trying to figure out her body clock....i guess it's all part of the fun.

we're getting the whole cloth nappy thing sussed..... working out how often to do a load of laundry and have decided that we need more nappies.... have just ordered a bunch of swaddlebees and can't wiat for them to arrive.

feeling really good today! all the muscle aches I had yesterday are mostly gone.... like my chin, neck and shoulders were really sore from all the straining during the pushing stage of labour.

to be honest, the worst pain I've had post labour are from the drip canula they put in my hand for the syntocin... they were not very good and my hand has been aching.

swelling is going down so fast! I thought it would take longer...... but I'm very please to be feeling a bit more room in my t-shirts now

have quite swollen legs still though.

I really need to write my birth story.

    will work on that.

well really should be getting sleep.

    hello!!

Tam! WOW I can't imagine how busy you must be with 2 babies!! how is it going??

I'm almost all caught up with my sleep now I think.

from when I got home on Saturday night I'd not really slept since the saturday night of the week before as the contractions/braxton hicks started last sunday.

on my own at home today..... DH and my folks are out so I can have a go of handling things on my own. So far so good.

GAve Luxxe a bath, a feed and then down for a sleep... I did a load of washgin and had lunch and now I'm just watching some tv and on the computer.

as for the trauma Jillian... well yeah you're right.... both physical and emotional.

I really am getting through it... just have so much anger at the treatment we both rec'd

I just find it a bit hard to talk about becuase I get really upset.

but basically.... whilst I was having my placenta manually removed, Luxxe was up in the NICU with DH and my mum and the swear word swear word swear word Doctors were trying to give her anti-biotics and put in a canula/drip thing to administer the drugs.

in her first three hours out in the world, theystuck her with needles 17 times. 17 TIMES!!!!!!!!!! becuase they couldn't get a vein. she stillhas bruises and pin holes in both her hands and feet and the inside of her wrists and her thighs. first the intern tried then the registrar and then they got teh fellow in to try. stupid bastards. I don't know how DH survived it. He didn't leave her side...but there wasn't much he could do.

I had to watch them give her a heel ***** to collect some blood and they were just butchers.... so rough and she was screaming screaming screaming. then they have the nerve to come back 2 hours later and saythey have to do it again becuase the sample clotted. I just wanted to grab her a run away.

by the time I forced them to release us on Saturday night she had had 25 needles.

I just can't help it... It breaks my heart and I jsut cry and cry at the thought of it... but watching it was even worse.... I just feel like I've let her down. I'm glad she won't remember it.... but I know I'll never forget.

I tried so hard to prepare for a gentle birth and entrance into this world... and I couldn't get it. I just feel like i've failed her...and that after the birth being drug free... and yet having to have the syntocin and having every dr on duty stick their hand up me to move the cervix or to do wahtever they were doing.... and usually during a contraction ..... I just was trying to hard to get her safely into the world.... and then when she really needed me I couldn't be there becuase the bloody syntocin made my uterus clamp down on the placenta and wouldn't let it birth.

All I can say is that I will be forever FOREVER grateful that I had my midwives there with us.

I can not imagine how much worse it would have been if they weren't there to be on our side... to limit the intervention, to question everything their stupid hospital policies threw at us. to literally be a barricade between the drs and me. at one point there were 2 drs inthe birth room and the midwives had one of them with my camera and the other one holding my leg sot hat they couldn't violate me any further.

and then with luxxe.... they were there to get them to back off with the injections.

Oh and all of those injections... ALL FOR NOTHING!!! because her blood cultures all came back perfect... jsut like we told them.... she never had any signs of anyting being wrong... other than when they kept hurting her.

she's just starting to get over the whole thing.... she kept frighting in her sleep and hates being on her back and doesn't like bright over head lights... or having clothes off.... because everytime they'd stick her that's the scene she was suffering.

I was only there for 2 days.... but I never ever ever want to go back and will do whatever it takes to never have by child in that position ever again.

next baby will be at home.... HELL OR HIGH WATER

    arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so upset and angry

right. going to go have a drink and sob for a while.

I think I still have a few more cries left to get out and then I can move forward with being thankful and just get on with how blessed we are to have this beautiful girl... healthy, safe and in my arms.

Sorry to blablabla all over the place.

Oh HUGE hugs {{{{{XXXX}}}}} to you Laura. What a traumatic experience....I so feel for you and your precious little girl. Makes me want to go beat up those Drs. for you!

I think you've just managed to explain why Maddy hates having her clothes off too. She tested highly for jaundice and they kept taking damn blood samples from her. The heel ***** test bloods kept clotting so in the end I forced them to take her to NICU and get one of the specialists there to take blood via a vein in the inside of her elbow.

What an amazing woman you are for doing your absolute best to ensure your little girl had the most gentle entry into the world possible. Please dont't feel like you've failed her or that you're a bad mum...she is so lucky to have you!

Laura, what a horrific experience. But you're right, once you get all the sadness, anger, frustration out etc, you can just be happy with your precious bundle. Forget the Drs and dont let them make you unhappy any more than they have already. i can't beleive the amount of needles they gave poor Luxxe. absolute shocker.
But congrats on the birth of your baby girl, she is just divine!!!!! You sound like you are doing an awesome job and sound like a natural mother xo

    Hi Guys,

YAY!! I found you (thanks dachlostar hehe)

I wasnt sure where the new thread was or if there was one at all yet. But thats ok..I am a bit slow on these things haha.

Things here are good. We had a couple of very unsettled days and nights becuase my milk was taking it's time coming through and she was constantly feeding and crying..feeding and crying. It was very hard..but finally the milk has come in and she feeds and sleeps and poops like a perfect little angel hehe.

I really must get a website up and running so I can show pictures off to you guys.

Laura - Firstly your little angel is so absolutely adorable. She is just so precious!
Secondly I feel so bad for you that you had such a bad experience. And poor Luxxe having to have so many needles.
Please don't feel that you have failed her. You did not have things go the way you planned but that was not your fault. And these are the way things happen. You are doing and have done so much for her and that is so important. I totally understand that you feel bad and that you will be upset and sad for a while. But I just want you to know I am proud of you and I think you have done a wonderful job bringing your beautiful girl into the world! :hugs:

Ok well my little one is fast asleep but it's anyone's guess for how long. So I should sleep while I can.

Staying home tomorrow to tidy up a bit cos the house is pretty trashed from home from hospital dumping lol. And plus It's going to be 40 odd degrees so I wanna beat the heat.

    Have a great day ladies.

    Hey All,

I just wanted to share my exciting news. Well its not 'that' major but I think it's pretty cool.

Our local paper has a section in it where it has pictures of mums and bubs that have been born at the local hospital. Every week about 5 or so mums feature in it. When I was at the hospital mine and Kobi's picture was taken and I wasnt sure that they would put it in, but they did!! So we are in the local rag!!!

It's a fairly big pic too and in colour. I am pretty excited about it lol.

    Just wanted to share.

Hope you are all beating the heat today and have a good one.

    Hi ladies,

Just checking in to see how everyone was.

Misty - Good to see you. How are things?? I havent seen the post where you where you have trouble with your breast feeding. I had trouble with both my girls initially with B/F. My milk was slow coming in both times. What are the troubles you are having and I might be able to help out??

Ok my dinner has arrived and I am off to scoff cos I am so darn hungry these days.

Hope all is well with everyone.

    Chat soon.

I tried to add new tickers and it didnt work...dunno why though as it has let me before.

Will have to sort something out...anyone know why my tickers might not have worked?

I updated them in profiles...used the bb code just like other times but no luck.

Oh we are having a big bbq tomorrow night to 'wet Kobi's head'.
Started off being a family thing...but small...now I think there are 30/40 odd coming. Oooops! Oh well..hopefully it doesnt rain too much or at all lol...Cos otherwise we will all have to cram inside.
Should be a good night. It's a good way to have everyone meet Kobi and spend some time with her then it stops the drib and drab visits we have been getting.

Ok off again to play around and take advantage of some quiet time here in this house.
